Brendali's was the first local restaurant I tried before we moved to Fed Hill - they sold me on the neighborhood! Over the years, we've become regulars to Brendali and her husband (who was the chef for much of that time). I've tried over half their menu and nearly all of their pasta dishes. We've had parties here, we've celebrated good news here, we've gone here on a random M/T/W/Th/F/Sat/Sun... (there have been times we've gone there more than once a week - that's how much we love their food)!
In my regular rotation - in order - is the eggplant parm, rigatoni black and blue, cappelini mercedes, veal parm, and penne alla vodka. The pasta is handmade and always a win. My husband regularly orders the chicken diego, too. Their marinara is really what sold me from my first meal on: it's fresh and delicious and the foundation for great Italian food. Oh! We also ordered one of the pizzas once - just because we hadn't before - and it was very good. We usually end up craving one of our regular rotation dishes before we even make it to pizza part of the menu, though!
The portions are perfectly satisfying if you're super hungry, and perfect for a little lunch the next day if you're not (love me some Italian leftovers!). They have their takeout system down pat and it usually takes about 15 minutes from when you call in. They are also an EXCELLENT value - $10 for one of the top 3 best eggplant parms I've ever had (one of them being my own)? YES, PLEASE! I have a fairly refined palate for Italian food and have been to a number of restaurants in Little Italy: for the most part, the quality of food is rarely better than Brendali's yet costs substantially more. Brendali's is one of our favorite restaurants in not just the neighborhood, but the city!
