The Best Hotels in Santorini

"Clustered along a hillside topped by the dazzling white blaze of Oia town high above, this adults-only resort gazes out over its glittering infinity pool to Ammoudi’s picturesque taverna-lined bay and the volcanic caldera’s red-and-white cliffs beyond. Reached via winding alleys lined with sweet-scented shrubs, 37 spacious open-plan suites have barefoot-friendly tiled floors and breezy brine-kissed sea views from plump kingsize beds; some also have standalone bathtubs framed by grainy pumice statement walls that perpetuate the resort’s sultry volcanic vibe. Best of all are the blissfully private terraces framed by high stone walls where plunge pools or whirlpool baths offer the same idyllic sunset vistas as Oia’s famous castle viewing spot above, only without the crowds. Beyond the suites, a serene candlelit spa offers a healing retreat after a long day’s sightseeing, whilst the resort’s cool, cave-like wine cellar is the perfect spot to sample mineral local wines that will prepare the palate for a firework flavor-display of fresh and dry-aged seafood treats served up along with spectacular volcanic caldera views at Santo Mine’s fine-dining restaurant, Alme. —Heidi Fuller-love" - Lauren Burvill

12 New Hotels in Greece Opening this Spring - AFAR

"The new all-suite, adults-only Santo Mine Oia Suites is carved into cliffs, part of an old stone mine with far-reaching views across the azure Ammoudi Bay. The hotel’s 37 suites, all with private pools or Jacuzzis, reflect the island’s rugged landscapes but are softened by green roofs, warm wood details, and local stone." - Nicola Chilton

My family and I stayed at Santo Mine for four nights and we loved it! The rooms were beautiful and impeccably clean. We visited a few other islands while in Greece and this was my favorite place that we stayed. The employees at the hotel were all extremely kind, welcoming, and attentive. In particular, Katerina, one of the waitresses was so wonderful to my family along with Marianna and Bruno. I appreciated how ready they were to offer help and suggestions in terms of site-seeing and restaurants. The breakfasts were amazing and I wish I could recreate the delicious oats in milk, croissants, and cappuccinos that I enjoyed! I hope to return to Oia and I would definitely stay at Santo Mine again!

We stayed for two nights as an add-on to our holiday in Santorini. We had heard that Oia was not to be missed. ||The hotel was very quiet when we stayed in early May. Everything was open and the hotel was well staffed. We had the pools to ourselves! The hotel has incredible views of the Caldera. ||We booked a room with an outdoor jacuzzi. It was fabulous. So warm and offered more amazing views, whilst being completely private. The rooms are spacious, modern and very comfortable. ||Breakfast was lovely, with a wide range of options to suit all tastes. We ate in the restaurant one evening. It was very special and the food was superb. It’s not cheap, but that’s Santorini for you! ||We made good use of the concierge golf buggy service as our room was quite a way from reception and the footpath to Oia village. Lovely spot if you want to be away from the hustle and bustle of Oia, but within a short walk. ||Luxury hotel with attentive and friendly staff.

What an amazing experience. This resort is modern, pristine, and of the highest quality. Every staff member greets you with a smile and are eager to please. The resort is meticulously clean. The decor is chic elegant. The room is so comfortable. A large outdoor area is private enough for romantic wine and cheese, viewing the perfect sunset in the jacuzzi. A tasty desert is left on your pillow every night by the turn down service. The breakfast buffet is of the highest quality with many options. My wife is vegetarian and she was very pleased, even with the room service menu, which is also of the highest quality. A closed door bathroom and shower are also very comfortable. The shower is variable from very low pressure to very high pressure. The shower temperature is perfect. There is a foot path very close that takes you into Oia in less than 10 minutes, where you will find more excellent restaurants, cafes, bars, clothing and art shops. If you spend some time at one of the 4 pools, you may receive a complimentary juice shot and shoulder massage. Being a modern resort, you can even flush paper down the toilet 😊!

Santo Mine is truly a gem in Santorini. The hotel is brand new, impeccably clean, and part of the prestigious Santo Collection—but with a unique charm all its own. Built on the site of a former stone mine, the design takes inspiration from the natural landscape, with elegant, cave-style rooms that feel both earthy and ultra-chic. We had a private hot tub on our terrace—while it wasn’t piping hot, it was still incredibly relaxing and a perfect spot to unwind. The property is expansive, but getting around is effortless thanks to their friendly golf cart service. The infinity pool overlooking the sparkling Santorini sea is absolutely breathtaking—one of the most stunning views we’ve ever seen. The breakfast buffet was lush and generous, with so many incredible options it was almost impossible to choose. What truly sets Santo Mine apart is the staff. Every single team member we encountered was warm, welcoming, and went out of their way to make us feel special. We were celebrating my birthday, and shortly after check-in, the staff surprised us with a birthday cake (delicious!) and sang to me in the room—a gesture I’ll never forget. We did have a small mishap at the end of our stay when one of our bags was left behind during our transfer to the ferry. But the team sprang into action, delivered it to us immediately, and we still made our boat. Their quick response and genuine care really sealed the deal on what was an unforgettable stay. If you’re looking for a luxurious, serene, and thoughtfully designed escape in Santorini with heartfelt service, Santo Mine is the place.

We’ve just returned from another memorable stay at the Santo Collection, and once again it exceeded our expectations. From the moment we began planning our trip, the concierge team was incredibly helpful - quick to respond and full of great recommendations. Their suggestion for our final dinner in Santorini led us to a fantastic restaurant that was the perfect way to end our holiday. As returning guests, we were warmly welcomed with an upgrade to a stunning sea view suite. The thoughtful touches of a bottle of bubbles, deserts and fresh fruit made our arrival feel extra special. The suite itself was spacious, comfortable and offered breathtaking views, complete with a relaxing jacuzzi. The hotel’s facilities were excellent and the staff are consistently warm and attentive. One highlight was the wine tasting in the cellar with Konstantinos. His knowledge and passion for Santorini wines made the tasting both educational and enjoyable. The only aspect that didn’t quite meet our expectations was the spa treatment. While the service was friendly, we felt the quality of the massage did not match the price. That said, experiences can vary, and others may find it more to their liking. The pool area was beautiful and serene, breakfast was satisfying, the outdoor gym was a great addition for a morning workout with a view and the location is ideal - just a short walk on the footpath into the heart of Oia Village. We’re already looking forward to our next visit!

I can't say enough about this place. From the time we arrived to the minute we left, we felt pampered. The attention that all of the staff paid to us was incredible. Our room was terrific. Our view was amazing. My wife and I felt like we were at a White Lotus venue without all of the drama. Although it was an easy walk up the hill to the main shopping area of Oia, we did not feel like we were among a lot of people. Actually, it was quite the contrary. ||The food at the breakfast buffet was varied and delicious. They seemed to cater to a number of diets and food allergies. ||I highly recommend this hotel.

Beautiful location with amazing views. The room and pool area were clean and very nice, and the staff were friendly when interacted with. Breakfast was included and quite good, but there’s an extra charge to have it delivered to the room, which feels a bit petty for a five-star resort. Service was inconsistent—I waited over 45 minutes for a poolside drink that never showed up, even though staff were just hanging around. The pool closes at 6pm and getting around the property involves a lot of walking. More frequent golf cart service would really help. Great setting, but the overall experience didn’t quite match the price.

Considering the price and snootiness of the place, it was such a HUGE let down - do not waste your money here! The restaurant situation is a total disaster as they can't accommodate all the guests in it so it forces you to order room service and pay more for it and then if it rains they have no seating available because restaurant seating is all out doors so it forces you to order room service (again). You are gouged for every nickle and every dime should you ask for anything extra (like more water for the htoel room because tap water is not drinkable) There are no other convenient food options unless you walk into own about 15 mins away which isn't possible when it's raining or 100 degrees outside so they have no backup plan for this. The rooms have no drawer space and drinking water is hard to obtain unless you spend a fortune asking for it. The staff definitely tries hard so nothing against them but they have been trained poorly and struggle to be proactive or think out of the box. The 2 restaurants on site have extremely limited menus options. Unfortunately I had just come to this hotel after staying at the Mykonos Grand which is over the top for service, food and facilities where they bend over backwards (and charge alot) but without having the horribly snooty attitude of this hotel. Breakfast was also a HUGE let down - this place is NOT focused on service. It's a very basic breakfast buffet with mostly cold food and cold tea/coffee that is served and I haven't gone to a breakfast in Greece yet that doesn't offer champaign/mimosa but that wasn't offered here either. But again the servings were poor - when asking for an orange juice at breakfast the glasses come one-third full (not half but one third) . It comes across as embarrasingly cheap so maybe they should invest in much smaller glasses to save money and Unfortunately we were only on the island for 2 nights so it really ruined the whole Santorini experience for me! There are definitely better luxury places to stay on the island.
