The Odyssey: The best hotels in the Greek islands

"There isn’t a bad view of Santorini’s caldera anywhere on the island, but Oia, on the northern branch of the island, is something special. Its elevation provides a stunning perspective, and its orientation makes for dramatic shadows across the water at sunset. It’s also more or less the heart of Santorini’s luxury hospitality industry — but, from within the walls of Santo Maris Oia Luxury Suites & Spa, it’s possible to feel like you’re just about alone on the island." - Le Guide MICHELIN

My husband and I went to Greece for our honeymoon. Santorini was our last stop and we stayed at Santo Pure for three nights. It was such a beautiful and amazing trip, and Sant Pure had a lot to do with that! Firstly, we had the Seaview Suite with a Jacuzzi tub - absolutely amazing! Our room was beautiful and very clean. They offer a pillow menu - it was very amazing! Breakfast each morning was a great add-on and we are happy we had the option available. We were very close to the Oia market which made walking into town easy. We were also close to the area where we had booked a private catamaran, so it was a simple pickup and drop off when we went to that external activity. We spent some time poolside and enjoyed every moment of our stay. Everyone we encountered was absolutely lovely and we enjoyed every aspect of the trip! Highly recommend this resort!

Amazing experience. Staff are consistently super kind and helpful, they are always happy to help. The room is gorgeous and the hotel is well organised. The pool areas are beautiful, there’s an infinity pool too. Dining experiences were all incredible. Oia centre is a 5/10mins walk away. ||Thank you for making our stay so special. The thoughtful notes and staff checking in to ensure our stay was special. We truly felt like they went above and beyond to ensure we had an amazing experience. ||The view from our room was spectacular, had the perfect sunset view. We purchased the room decorated option and it was stunning. Room service was delicious and the Alme restaurant was the best experience. When it’s cold they provide blankets and outdoor heaters. The food was unreal, every bite was a treat. There was also live music which was gorgeous. The app was super helpful with planning activities around the hotels. ||100% recommend and will be back soon!

My family and I stayed at Santo Pure Suites and Villas in September for 3 nights. I highly recommend Santo Pure anyone planning on staying in Oia. They have their own pathway straight to Oia market which is less than 5 min away. . Its close to Oia and also offers privacy and beautiful view of the Aegean sea. I recommend getting seaview suite with jacuzzi and for big families highly recommended the Selini Villa with private pool and jacuzzi. . The staff was excellent. Shoutout to Chris who would drive us around the resort in the golf cart whenever we needed to go around, with a happy smile always on his face. Staff was very welcoming and accommodating. Exceptional service. Anytime we called concierge they were very prompt with their service. The rooms were modern. The hotel also provided us with transportation from/to airport which was included with the villa. Spa was nice and breakfast was really good too. Convenient location to Oia and Ammoudi Bay.

Santo Pure was a dream. In my opinion, the resort has the best view of Oia! The staff were all so friendly and helpful- recommended the hidden cliffside in Santo Mine for the most breathtaking sunset view, overseeing the windmills and the castle ruins. The resort itself is peaceful and beautifully designed. We also loved exploring the grounds, especially the vegetable garden and all the little details that made the stay feel special. Highly recommend for anyone visiting Santorini!

My husband and I stayed at Santo Pure 10/19-10/24 for our honeymoon! It was everything we wanted and more. The sunset/sea view suite with jacuzzi was absolutely perfect. The staff went above and beyond for anything we needed, they were so attentive, kind and caring! The location of Santo Pure is in the most calm, relaxing, quiet area and that’s exactly what we wanted. All the food and drinks at the hotel were delicious and so well made! Highly recommend Santo Pure for a relaxing romantic getaway!

I had a wonderful experience at Santo Pure and would absolutely stay there again. The staff went above and beyond to make my birthday memorable by upgrading my room—such a thoughtful gesture that set the tone for the rest of my stay. Everyone I encountered was welcoming and kind, creating a genuinely warm atmosphere. The location is perfect—just a short walk to the heart of Oia, yet tucked away enough to feel peaceful and private. The setting is stunning, with beautiful accommodations that blend luxury and comfort seamlessly. From the serene ambiance to the impeccable service, everything about Santo Pure made my time in Santorini feel extra special. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a relaxing and memorable escape!

We visited here for 10 nights choosing this liking the privacy and larger layout you won’t get in a cave suite in the main photographed area of Oia. After we were checked in we were taken in a golf buggy on a tour of the resort and dropped with our bags at our suite.||We had a private pool and sea and sunset view which was stunning. There is a car park in the view on these rooms but apart from some noise of people coming and going it’s no bother. This resort in general is a great place to watch the sunset away from the crowds but the view from our room was lovely.||Breakfast is served as a buffet with additional options available for order. The food was good and also had allergen information out. On request they got vegan butter for us and brought it to our table each morning. Oat milk was also available with coffees. ||We had submitted an allergen form when we checked in however the room service treats at turn down weren’t dairy free for my husband so just double check any food given from housekeeping if you have allergies.||For most of our stay housekeeping were arriving around 9.30 in our room and if you turn them away you do have to have actively call reception later to get them back as they don’t return otherwise. We did feel this was a bit early personally as breakfast is served until 11am.||There is a safe and air-conditioning in the room however the air-con can be a little loud at times. There is also a fridge which is empty unless you pay for a mini-fridge hamper so we just stocked the fridge from a shop nearby.||The entire resort is built onto a hillside so is steep. There is a handy path leading up to Oia which is not long however the path is steep and uneven being made of local stone that is cemented together.||On Santorini there is a tax to pay at checkout which is calculated by number of nights and star rating that for 5 star hotels is 15 Euros per night. ||All of the staff were fabulous and although this hotel doesn’t have a caldera view the space and privacy were well worth it for us and we wouldn’t want to stay in a cave hotel for an extended duration as they are so squashed together. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone.

My husband and I celebrated our 5 year anniversary at this gorgeous hotel. The food, service, room were all top notch. We loved our private hot tub (pro tip - if you go in October, you should get a hot tub room instead of a pool room so you can enjoy it even on chilly days). Shoutouts to Konstantinos (made our private dinner special and made an effort to get to know us), Manthos (bartender who knows how to make delicious drinks), Stela, Elefteria, and Tigran. The location was perfect - we watched the Oia sunset every night without the crowds and walked 3-5 min into Oia for dinner. If you stay in Santo Pure, you can use the facilities in Santo Mines too. Santo Mines has an outdoor gym, which we took advantage of almost every day. Working out while looking into the ocean with fresh air - you can't get this at home. We left absolutely refreshed after an amazing vacation. Thanks to everyone at Santo Pure and we can't wait to come back one day!
