Portland Greek Restaurant Tréla Will Open on Northeast Glisan | Eater Portland

"Owned by Helen and Denny Tzakis, Santorini’s was another longtime local restaurant in the family’s history that locals may remember and where younger generations gained early restaurant experience." - Brooke Jackson-Glidden

We went there again and tried new things. The food is always delicious and the lady is so kind! The food was delicious, but they were weighing everything, and it was so stingy. I'd rather be charged extra and get what I want. The side of fries was ridiculous! They gave me about 10 fries total. I don't blame the people serving because they were very nice and sweet. They were following orders from corporate. My husband got the puffy pitas. Overall, the taste was delicious and very fresh. They were making fresh food in front of us.

Google
Best Greek food I've had in a very long time. Fresh hand made pita, ripe crispy vegetables and the sauces were incredible compliments to the seasonings. Gyro meat was delicate with rich deep flavors and the fries had a hint of lemon, perfection. A bit spendy but it's actually worth it, unlike many places in town. Quality ingredients and recipes. We will definitely be back. Oh and kids meals were very affordable. Love a Utah spot that appreciates kids and families.

After hearing tales of how good the Ogden location is, I was happy that one opened closer to me. After trying it, I would definitely consider this one of the best Greek restaurants in the valley. I ordered a custom bowl and really liked the way that all the flavors available worked together. I definitely suggest the roasted pepper sauce. I also had the feta fries, and they were fantastic. A really good french fry loaded with tons of flavor. I was really impressed with my experience over all. The short coming was the preparation time in my specific visit. It took a while to have 4 bowls assembled. This may have been attributed to the time of day, new employees etc, but If there were a line it would have taken forever. I'll be back regardless. I enjoyed the Greek theme to the restaurant. There was a clean, but distinct nature to the restaurant and layout of Interior. It's entertaining and welcoming.

Food is always fresh and delicious! A great place to get Greek food in Utah! The employees were unhappy and seemed annoyed while we were there. Clean restaurant, Greta decor will be back!

Google
Can’t go wrong with this Greek food! Lots of options depending your tastes. On the menu it says no substitutions but when we ordered a menu item (not a build your own) the worker asked if we wanted everything. It seems like you could sub things out. We ordered The Zeus which was great. Loved the doner sauce on it. The original pita was decent though overpowered by all the pickled ingredients. Next time I’d get the doner sauce added to the pita. And the zucchini fries were meh. Curious to try the pickle fries next time.

Have been there twice now. Never clean, no tables are ever clean & one trash bin that is over flowing. Asked 2 separate people if we could have a table cleaned. Did not happen until we were leaving. Wanting Greek fast food? Go to Yanni's Greek Express in Sugar House.

Google
This place is great! I love gyros but decided to try a bowl and the bowl was excellent! Definitely less messy than a gyro. You can build your own bowl which is what I did. Very tasty and very filling. I would definitely come back and order another bowl again.

Google
I wish their crunch rolls were baked. Snack size to add to a salad but a bit greasy and they come in a pair. The lady working here is very positive given how busy it was and is a hard worker

Yelp
Fabulous Greek food with American influence. It tasted fresh, yummy, and satisfying. My kids devoured the puffy pitas, hubs and I enjoyed the huge pitas. Highly recommend the lemonade. We went at 1:30 on a Monday afternoon. The bathrooms were very clean!

Yelp
My family and I absolutely love this place. We've never had a negative experience here, or awful service. It's clean and bright inside with a vibrant blue and open seating area. Something to note for those of us that are sensory sensitive, /because/ of the open floor plan, things get very loud and convoluted during busy hours and it can feel overwhelming. This isn't something that reflects the service or the food by any means but it's something to keep in mind and the only reason I docked a star on behalf of those that this would impact. The food here is solid. They have bowls, gyros, desserts... and the food is reasonably healthy (albeit carb-heavy) just like good Mediterranean food. Stop by and try a custom bowl, their pita chips, gyros, and their garlic fries! They're so delicious
google avatar

Taylor L.

Yelp
Definitely get the gyro here, it'll be bigger than you can hold and absolutely delicious. Santorinis is always a hit in our household.

Aaron S.

Yelp
Food is decent, but way overpriced. Have been here several times now and they are always understaffed. Hadn't been a problem until today, when I was told fries would take a few minutes. No problem, I thought. As we finished our lunch and I asked about the fries, which hadn't been delivered, I was told three more minutes. Five minutes later they brought me something for a totally different table. When I reminded them what I was waiting for, it took literally ten seconds to prepare them. They were completely unapologetic and thought that being understaffed was an acceptable excuse for poor management and order tracking.

Yelp
Went here on a Friday night with my family. I got the Greek salad with gyro meat. Very good. My husband got the loaded fries, a little too spicy for our kids but tasty. He got a gyro then bought their donuts which came out hot! Restaurant was very clean, bathrooms were well taken care of. That area is busy but I was able to find parking.

Yelp
Ridiculously good seasoned and authentic Greek food! I don't eat Greek anywhere else at this point. This is not a version of fast food with a Greek twist; this is the real thing. Steamed meat on a spit, dripping juices, and a plethora of add-ons make this a one-stop shop for clean and fresh Greek food from an expansive menu that goes beyond what the competitors offer. Staff is courteous and will let you try sauces and offerings as a sample beforehand so you know what you're ordering. I typically have the lemon chicken gyro with addition of chocolate and roasted corn. And as a note, these gyros are freaking huge, which to share. They're even wrapped with a string to keep it all together. Better yet, they carry the wonderfully tasty Tractor drinks to go along with the meal. I recommend the strawberry dragonfruit. Desserts are top notch as well.

Thomas T.

Yelp
Don't come here. The gyro meat is overcooked and crispy. The presentation of the "original" is horrible. Everything falls out once you try handling it. We ordered 2 of them plus garlic fries. The fries came out cold about 10-12 minutes after we had ordered and were absolutely disgusting and cold. Took the fries back to the counter within a minute of trying them and was offered a free meal card and I politely declined and just asked for our money back. Hard pass on this place.

Yelp
We had the chicken salad and a few gyro/pita related things. The food was satisfactory but felt somewhat low effort. The Zeus was okay but the flavors didn't feel very authentic. I had the chicken salad which had pretty tough chicken and a blend of flavors that didn't quite taste right together. The entire pieces of garlic were thrown in and didn't contribute that much. I could order the same at Sweetgreen for the same price but have a more complete and well-blended flavor profile. The gyro is over seasoned and there is nothing particularly stand out. That being said, there is nothing wrong with the restaurant. The ambiance is nice and it's very easy to find a seat and get your food quickly. I'd be happy if this were the only Greek food in town and certainly wouldn't mind eating here. In the grand scheme of things, I would consider looking elsewhere.

Yelp
Santorini's is a great place to go for a healthy quick bite . We came here to get some food to go , I got a regular size bowl with gyro , onions , tomato cucumber salad , feta , hummus , peppers , and tzatziki sauce . The regular size was still really big and enough food for 3 meals ! I also got the zucchini fries and these were bomb!! Super crispy and delicious , great with the tzatziki sauce . I'll definitely be back whenever I have a craving for Greek food !

Yelp
I've been here 3 times, due to other people I'm dining with, wanting to go. I have never liked it. I tried it again this 3rd and last time about 2 weeks ago. I got a Greek salad and chose one of the chicken options as my protein. I have NEVER had drier chicken. It was inedible. I would have taken it back but the guy who served me was very gruff and unfriendly and I didn't want to deal with him. So I just picked it out and ate the lettuce. I would have loved to have gotten a side of fries or something else to go with my salad but the prices are really high and I didn't want to pay more than I was already paying, $15 for a small salad with inedible meat. Chicken doesn't have to be dry.

Yelp
I have tried santorini's for lunch and my first impression of the place was 'great'. It has a nice blue Greek ambiance and looks really cute with several tables. I ordered Traditional bowl and traditional gyro. We have many choices as to what we can add into our food. It had lemon rice, lemon chicken and several other veggies with their famous sauces. Roasted spice was my favourite sauce. I didn't quite like the chicken but the rest was okay. Gyro was decent too. Service was really good.

Yelp
Fast food to the next level! Loved this spot for a quick bite to eat. You walk in and form the line and order your food "Chipotle" style and take your food to the table of your choice. Food was delicious, fresh, and made to order.

Victoria A.

Yelp
Loved the food and lemonade selection! Great place for delicious lunch. I tried fries with feta - yuum

Yelp
Some of the best Greek food around! The restaurant was clean and decorated well. We loved how private the booths were. The employees were kind and helpful as it was our first time here. I ordered a build your own bowl with the lemon rice and Greek salad blend. I then did the traditional gyro meat. My toppings were olives, spinach, banana peppers, garbanzo beans, feta, and tzatziki sauce. The lemon rice was cooked perfectly and I loved the flavor. The gyro meat was so good and tender and they gave me a lot of meat in my bowl. All of the flavors were fresh and just delicious. I tried a bite of my husbands lemon chicken and that was really flavorful as well. We also ordered a side of hummus and pita. I asked the employee, and he said they don't make their pita in house but somewhere else makes the dough and then they cook it at the restaurant for the first time. The hummus and pita was good. The hummus had a green tint and a unique flavor but overall it was good and I would order it again. I'm really glad we came here! It was fresh, flavorful, and a nice change than other restaurants. It's definitely worth the drive to Sandy. We will be back very soon!!

Yelp
We arrived at seven, and there was a huge line. The line was a little more than halfway to the door, and it took forever to get up to the front to order. We placed our order, two original bowls. Then we also ordered house fries. We understood that it was very busy, and tried to be nice. As we got to the checkout, our bowls were ready, but not our fries. The cashier told us that our fries were not ready, even though the tray that had been marked for our french fries was full of french fries! The cashier said oh no, these fries are not for you. Even thoughthat was the tray that had been marked for us. He said he would bring them out to us. We understand that it was very busy, but our tray has been given away to someone else! Our house fries were never brought to our table!!! Obviously, because our tray had been given to someone else in the restaurant! We were mostly halfway done with our meal, and really wanted to eat our fries. When my husband went up to talk to them about our house, not being given to us, there was still a huge line! He waited, and waited, and waited! I finally went up and bypassed a bunch of people, and told one of the workers that we had not received our house fries. The lady, I talked to seemed totally put out, and didn't even apologize!!!!! Just grabbed a to go container and filled it halfway with fries. Everyone else had in the restaurant had gotten huge trays of fries, and ours was less than half of what the other order had been! The food is just a par, it's OK, it's not great. The only good way to order is to order the original bowl. Otherwise, every ingredients that you put in a bowl you will be added additional charge! One of the other times so that we went and ordered a bowl, with all the additional items, cost us over $20! It is cheaper for you just to do the original bowl! Every table in the restaurant was dirty! The popular tables in booths, and on the sides of the restaurant were full, and every single one of them were dirty. If you want a clean table, you'll have to sit in the very unpopular areas! For the price of the food, and the quality of service, I probably would recommend going to Spitz In Draper!

Yelp
My first time here and it was incredible. The service was excellent, the food was fresh and flavorful. The restaurant was clean and spacious. This is definitely a Hit Greek Spot in Sandy Utah.

Yelp
This is quickly becoming one of my favorite fast casual healthy food options! I love that there's options for everyone so my husband can get his fried pita and I can get some grilled chicken over a bed of rice with lots of veggies! The service is excellent and the line always moves really fast, the restaurant is clean and the food is always beautiful AND deliciously healthy! I always feel good leaving here!

Yelp
I've driven by this spot a few times but this is my first visit. Dining in I ordered the classics beef and lamb gyro. It was huge! Really felt I got my money's worth. Thank you for tying it up. First bite... yum ! Unfortunately, as I go through my move I've been eating out too often. It's so nice to have fresh vegetables with my meal. The flavors were so satisfying. The veggies and tahini were fresh. So glad I didn't order the garlic fries or fried zucchini. Next time for sure. This hit the spot! Support your local small businesses
google avatar

Garth S.

Yelp
We had lunch catered in today and I loved it. The vegetables were laid out wonderfully, the homemade naan was fresh, lemon chicken was overcooked (most places overcook lemon chicken) the lamb was good. Overall a tremendous lay of food
google avatar

Yelp
Five stars and I highly recommend! Some of the best fast Greek I have had. I enjoyed the Original Pita Santorini's Style with half Gyro and half lemon chicken. When I asked the employee which meat she recommended of the two she couldn't decide and suggested I do half and half! Great Idea The pita was huge and very filling. It was light and fresh. I ended up pulling the fries out to eat separate from the pita but they were crispy and quite good as well. The side of lemon rice was excellent. Not dry or oily. Perfect amount of lemon flavor and not over cooked or old. We also ordered the doughnuts and were not disappointed. Freshly fried, dripping with honey and a light sprinkle of powdered sugar. These are to die for! The staff was friendly and quick but never rushed me. I will be back and I'm looking forward to the craving!
google avatar

Yelp
Great spot to grab food! The Greek food is all delicious and atmosphere is really fun with the Green theme. You order at the counter and bring to your table, but the people behind the counter were friendly and attentive.
google avatar

Estela B.

Yelp
Came on on a Saturday afternoon. The line seemed to move slowly at first they only had 2 people working and then 2 more came out after 5 min. So I would say be patient at first. It's worth it. You have options to choose bowl / pita Fyi they make the pita fresh! I decided to make my own pita, They didn't have any garlic chicken. So I went with the lemon chicken. You can add how many toppings you like. Loved the lemon chicken. It was flavorful and moist. The tzatziki sauce was really good. Their hummus was flavorful as well. My husband got a pita as well and he got fries on his and the fries are really good! Definitely recommend. We also got the Greek donuts and liked the sauce they put on top. The kitchen looked clean. If you want the gyro meat freshly sliced this isn't the place they slice it and then put it in a warmer. I did see them slice it a few times while we were in line. Definitely be back! Would love to try the garlic chicken.
google avatar

Yelp
This place is so good! The food is great and tastes very yummy. The service is really fast too. I absolutely love their French fries. I love the puffy pitas!

Yelp
Easily 5 stars. The food, the cleanliness and the staff all deserve five stars. I really appreciated the simplicity of the menu. Most modern restaurants that allow the "create your own" option has the most disorganized and messy menu full with too many options and sides. It's overwhelming and confusing. Not this place. You have a small section for "Tradition Gyro or Bowl" and then a separate section for "Build it your way" (see photos). The menu is easy to read and easy to order from. I was initially going to order a bowl, until I realized the Gyro is FRESH, and made there on the spot, so I ordered the Santorini's style gyro with half lamb half lemon chicken (they were out of the garlic chicken). You can pick white or wheat. Instead of rice, I put fries (which were also made on the spot). The fries were amazing. The tzaziki was amazing. Everything on the gyro was top notch. We ordered the donuts (aka "Loukoumades") which I thought were really good too. Again, fresh. Comes with a total of three. They put this lemon glaze on top. Totally worth a try. The restaurant has enough seating, and the employees keep the tables clean. All employees wore masks and gloves. Will come back very very soon.
google avatar

Heidi M.

Yelp
I loved walking into the restaurant and the vibe it had! It was actually decently priced for how much food you get, because holy moly those pitas were huge!!! The lamb was soft enough to chew and the sauce was delicious. I love that would could choose what toppings you wanted and watch them make it. It was a quick and easy process to order and the staff was great and answering questions.

Claire Adrian ..

Yelp
Yummm! I ordered the Original Bowl but will order a build your own next time because my bowl was heavy on rice. The bonus was it was also heavy on their amazing lemon chicken. Everything was amazing quality & flavor. I eat "fast food" Greek alll the time. We don't have this one in DFW but I will be back here every time I come to UT! Very clean and friendly staff.
google avatar

Bekah C.

Yelp
As far as Greek fast food goes, Santorini's Greek Grill is a fantastic option. I wouldn't call it "authentic" but it was tasty. Everything looked so good that we ended up ordering three menu items to share. The traditional bowl was bursting with flavor. I only wish there had been an element of spice! Loaded fries are my weakness. We thought we ordered the Feta Fries, so when we received the Greek Garlic Fries we were a little disappointed...until we started eating them. Garlic Lovers Unite! These fries are for you. We couldn't resist ordering some of the Loukoumades. Greek donuts? Yes, please. Fried dough. Honey. And powdered sugar. You cannot go wrong with these! Overall, we really enjoyed our meal. I did feel like they went a little sauce-heavy on everything, so I would recommend you request "light sauce" so your food isn't drowning.
google avatar

Penny S.

Yelp
We loved the freshly made pitas (made while you watch!) and all the goodies they stuff inside! It's like a Subway or Chipotle, where you go along and say what you want inside. They end up so jam packed with goodness they have to tie them with a string so they stay together! I couldn't eat all mine, so took it with me and ate the rest the next day and was full both times!
google avatar

Christian K.

Yelp
The food was good, I would recommend this place to people if they are craving Greek food. The pita is made fresh. This place is like a "cafe rio" or "subway" style restaurant. The kids pita was very generous. The fries were really good. I wish they had a Greek salad on the menu. But I'm sure you could make it through the custom build your own bowl. The service was good. They give active duty military discount. The ambiance was good. Nothing spectacular. It was a clean place.

Caden Z.

Yelp
Greek food is so good. Clean inside. This place is awesome. Workers were fast and nice. The gyro meat is juicy and good taste
google avatar

Damon D.

Yelp
Super modern interior. Also The place was clean. Menu was a little pricey. You end up getting this Gyro creation that is stuffed with fries and a LOT of sauce. They drenched the gyro with their sauce. They also wanted to put fries inside of the gyro. I thought that was odd. The gyro tasted fine, but I didn't add the fries. We split the garlic fries, but there was so much garlic we could barely eat any. I mean an insane amount of garlic that they added. If we come back I would have to ask them to go light on some of the ingredients. The gyro was so big they literally tied it closed with a string. Honestly they could cut the portion in half, and the adjust the price. No reason to be stuffed and miserable and still have to take him left overs. This was a unique experience for sure. Might be worth a go, but keep your eye on the staff and make sure what they are making you is palatable.
google avatar

Greg H.

Yelp
The food was fresh and so flavorful! Our table had the Greek salad, Wasatch gyro and an order of feta fries to share. The portions were generous and the staff was so friendly. We will definitely come back here again soon it was delicious!

Yelp
I gave myself a couple weeks to ponder on this review. I really wanted to like Santorini's. Our normal Greek place did not survive Covid and we were looking for a new regular spot. Fries - these were amazing! 5 stars! They season them with a lemon seasoning and have their Greek dipping sauce. I was very surprised. Traditional Gyro - 3 stars - Lacked flavor. It wasn't anything special. I think the gal who put it together was expecting me to build my own. I asked for the Traditional Gyro and she kept asking me what I wanted on it. Build Your Own - 3 stars - we did it on a bed of lemon rice. The rice didn't add much to the dish. We will definitely try it again and see if it was an off night. They had several sides that we were very interested in. Next time we come we might just try their sides and desserts as they all looked and sounded delicious.

Yelp
The gyro with fries was delicious!!! The meat was tender, the pita was fresh and they put an abundant amount of Tzatziki sauce inside the gyro. The fries were crispy and savory. They also have some refreshing natural fruit drinks that are amazing!! (Try the peach one, soooo good!!) Service was great, they were on the ball. All the toppings were neatly stocked and the area was very clean. The inside of the restaurant is decorated with beautiful white and bright blue decor just as you would expect from a Greek restaurant. I have also had them cater an event and they were excellent!! The food was delivered hot, fresh and with all the fixings. The chicken was moist the gyro was savory and tasty. The greens were fresh and crispy. Everyone at the party loved the food. I would highly recommend this restaurant!!! I love me some Santorini !!!!

Donna R.

Yelp
Food was very good, small location but seems a lot of take outs. Staff very friendly and helpful.
google avatar

Courtney B.

Yelp
Great option for people with food preferences who want some Greek flavor! I am giving it 4 stars for that alone as I do like to customize. Our group was very happy to have more veg options to replace the carbs!
google avatar

Jennifer N.

Yelp
This food is delicious, and everyone was very friendly. This would have been a five star review except my gyro got the end of the meat and it was dripping with oil. My husband got fresh meat and his was perfect.

Isabelle P.

Yelp
The food is good. The service isn't great. I think 3 is a fair rating. I had to wait 10 mins after my bowl was done because the two people in front of me ordered fried food and the employees wouldn't let me pay for my bowl sitting there ready until they were completely done. No idea why. One group ahead of me too me 20 mins to get my food
google avatar

Jason P.

Yelp
Can in the other night for dinner. The staff was friendly and the store was clean. I ended up having the Santorini style gyro with lemon chicken. It was super delicious. I'll definitely swing I. For food again. But next time I'll bring the family.
google avatar

Samantha F.

Yelp
Man, with the amount of 5 star reviews I was really expecting better. Overall I was pretty disappointed, food was bland and dry and definitely overpriced. I got the build your own bowl: lemon rice, garlic chicken and a few toppings. Along with a side of tzatziki, hummus and a pita. The rice was bland and overly dry. The chicken was also bland and dry. There just wasn't any real flavor in the bowl. Gotta say the pita was the only redeeming part of the meal. ‍ Over priced for what you get as well. Just don't think I'd be back.
google avatar

Ashleigh O.

Yelp
This place is so yummy! I've never had Greek style fries before- new fave!! The Greek Garlic Fries (so much garlic!) & Feta Fries were absolutely delicious! Big portion sizes, perfect for sharing. The Garlic Chicken Salad also had great flavor. Ordered our food to go but would definitely come here again, the atmosphere of the restaurant was cool and all the staff were very friendly.

Ro K.

Yelp
Went here this evening with a group. Fast service, measured protein which is great - so you know you're getting no more and no less than a serving. They were out of lemon rice and the wait was 20 minutes, they no longer have their ancient rice, it was a bit chaotic and I don't think I will be returning. The reviews seem a bit skewed and I wish I had dined somewhere else.

John E.

Yelp
I always make a trip to Santorinis when visiting SLC. The Salad option lets me stay low carb. Food is good, a bit of a sterile environment. But it is basically good & fast food. Very different than "Fast Food". Service is efficient. Price to Value is reasonable for these inflationary times. Will be back
google avatar

Vic P.

Yelp
I can confidently say that this is the Chipotle of Greek food. Each topping was very well seasoned and super satisfying! The garlic chicken was definitely better than the falafel. The garlic fries...seriously vampires should be scared.
google avatar

Jonathan N.

Yelp
Good at Santorini's is delicious and consistent. The ambiance is pretty basic and clean. The service each time I've been has been incredibly slow, so be aware if you're in a rush. I've tried almost everything in the menu and it's all been great. From the bowls and gyros to the garlic fries and the donuts, it's a pretty solid fast casual spot. One thing, the baklava wasn't the best (it was fine)-- especially for the cost of each piece. If you want dessert, opt for the donuts instead, those were fantastic.
google avatar

Jim H.

Yelp
I LOVE Santorinis! Fresh, authentic, build-your-own Greek dishes. Everything is fantastic! Their gyros are gargantuan - Zeus thinks they're a little big. You know you just scored a huge gyro if they have to tie it together with string. Even though the pita is large, it's quite thin and light. The house greek salad is an amazing topping on the gyro, along with kalamata olives, feta, and their AMAZING tzatziki sauce. You can really taste the cucumber! They have lots of other sauces and toppings to choose from as well...though I just told you how to build the perfect gyro. The fries are well-battered with just the right splash of lemon. The service is fast and friendly. They're happy to explain what all of the different sauces and toppings are.

Yelp
Yummy good! We got a Santorini pita, the puffy pita, the lokamades and the fried zuchinni. Out of those I highly recommend the puffy pitas and the lokamades! Enjoy!
