First time I got to know the organization was through their community bike shop. I can only say good things about their staff (super-approachable and friendly!), their philosophy, and the kind of people they tend to attract. They're always open to ideas of new projects, too. This is one thriving community initiative!

Most inclusive and compassionate non-profit I have ever had the honour to volunteer with, staffed with wonderful people who care about their community and do their best to live by example without any dogma... just all around decent people. Thank you so much for all the good work you do for the community.

Great community organisation, mainly dealing with food security. Meals on wheels, summer market selling organic fresh fruit & veggies, indoor all year market selling their own produced canned goods, food prep workshops. Highly recommended.

Voluneteered >100 hours there in 2022, and absolutely loved my time there. The staff are helpful and kind, and the instructions are clear (and the staff are there to answer questions). A really worthwhile experience, I recommend trying a couple of delivery and kitchen shifts.

Yelp
This incredible local non-profit is delivering meals to the doorways of 160 local Montrealers who face some of the most extreme challenges from the Coronovirus pandemic. They have taken extreme measures to maintain the safety of their volunteers while continuing to provide this life-saving support and it just means everything. If you are looking for a local organization to donate to at this time, here's one that's doing the great good work.

Yelp
Santropol Roulant is a wonderful organization that is greatly engaged in its community. It works with volunteers and its own gardens to produce quality wholesome food. We went there this week to sample their catering service, in which we were interested for an event next fall. But since they work with seasonal ingredients, their menu right now is not what will be available next autumn. Still, it gave a good idea of what kind of food they serve. We had a three course meal: chicken/pesto sandwich with radishes and salad, carrot/radish salad with almonds and strawberry cake. The veggies were fresh and vibrant. The chicken/pesto sandwich was made using a nice crusty baguette and was quite filling. The cake was very simple but the brown sugar used in the batter gave a nice caramelized taste. The food was healthy and good. It was terribly warm that day but we came out of Santropol rested and full. For 15$ per person, it was a nice meal! They also sell a bunch of homemade canned veggies and fruits, and even an awesome recipe book with dishes from all over the world, inspired by our multicultural community!

Yelp
If you are looking for an organization to volunteer with then definitely consider Santropol Roulant. They are seriously awesome and do lots of great work for the community. Their main focus is a meals on wheels program but that is only a small part of what makes them a wonderful organization. They also organize a variety of activities such as community workshops The meals that they prepare for the Meals on Wheels program are nutritious, and they grow a lot of the produce themselves at their farm in Senneville and at their gardens located at their headquarters and on McGill campus. In addition to that they have a lot of sustainable practices. They compost fruit and vegetable waste from the kitchens to use for their agriculture program. When they deliver the meals they also do their best to use environmentally friendly methods of transportation such as bikes or public transit. They only really use cars for meal deliveries when they're going to areas of the city that are far from their headquarters. If you are looking to volunteer then there are a variety of ways to give your time. You can work in the kitchens, doing deliveries, in the gardens and much more. They also offer the added benefit of flexible scheduling. You can schedule as many or as few shifts as your schedule permits. Volunteering here is a great way to support this fantastic organization.

Yelp
Nice community, you should go and talk to them to learn more, and maybe you'll become a volunteer :) you can pick up fruit in groups from May to October approximately, in Montreal. It's fun! You can also buy their homemade products!

Yelp
Great local organization which serves the community fresh and sustainable food for the less fortunate. An event was created there yesterday as a fund to help the organization called Les fruits défendus Montréal, it is an organization where volunteers pick local fruits and vegetables from people's backyard and community garden to avoid it from going to waste. The food are then, split into three parts, the first third is separated by the volunteers to take home, the 1/3 part is given to the owner and the last 1/3 is given to the organization to make fresh and nutritious food. I have the chance to drop by this little place with a communal kitchen for a lesson on Kombucha drink. The lady teaching us was knowledgeable and funny to boot. At the end of the event, we have a chance to take home a pot of kombucha's mother mushroom, the liquid to contain the mother, a tissue sheet and an elastic band to close the pot properly. Donations are asked between 10 and 25$. Most of the attendees gave 20$ and up! Overall, the place is pretty neat to hang out in. They sell homemade frozen meal for 6 dollars, they have awesome canned food and... Although, it is not the season to garden, they sell seeds for plants and vegetables.

Yelp
A great place to do volunteer work. You can help in the kitchen preparing or packing meals for Meal on Wheels. You can help delivering the meals and socializing, they are ok with any way you want to deliver, on foot, bike, car... it is up to you. I know they also have a garden on the rooftop, and they take volunteers for that as well. People are friendly, they usually have someone responsible to manage the group of volunteers in the kitchen. You need to go to an orientation before starting volunteering there. It's pretty quick. After that you can just add your name to schedule, and it can be a one time thing or weekly, they are really flexible. You can also call and check what spots they have available in the schedule. I wish there was an online schedule I could just add my name, but the system they have works as well.

Yelp
I bought 2 tomatoes. They were $3.00/lb. The guy weighed them very quickly, without showing me the scale, and said: 1 lb each, it's 6 dollars. I was kind of surprised by how much it was but didn't complain. Went home and found out they weighed about 260 g each, far from a pound. I'm shocked!! I never thought farmers market sellers would try to cheat people, but these guys did. Congratulations...
