The Best Restaurants in Miami’s Coconut Grove | Eater Miami

"This Italian restaurant, known for its seafood dishes, has been a local staple for years. Inside, the space channels the relaxed vibe of a beachside spot in Capri. On the menu, diners will find standout seafood options like grilled scallops with artichokes and pancetta, and grilled octopus with red cabbage cream and roasted potatoes. For pasta lovers, there’s linguine with clams and lobster ravioli. For something special, the cacio e pepe with truffles is served tableside from a cheese wheel upon request." - Olee Fowler

We had a very good dinner at this place. It is not a fancy one, but still a very good to have an Italian style food. Attendants are ok. It took an little while to get our food but it was worth it. They have Italian beer @Peroni I recommend this place, close to the beach.

Google
We ended up eating here three times in six days. Great pizza, branzino, grilled octopus, and garlic shrimp. And they had the best espresso. No contest.

Google
This place was pure disappointment and disgust. We went here a few years ago and it was a great experience. We ordered both desserts: the flan and the tiramisu. The flan was tasteless and soggy and the tiramisu was a fake sponge cake dressed with Hersheys chocolate. Do not come here.

Google
The food was fresh and delicious. Octopus was amazing and pizza to die for,.best cheese! Our server was really nice and helpful. The views of the ocean were beautiful 😍. Ready to go back soon.

Absolutely loved Sapore Di Mare on Hollywood Beach‼️Wonderful authentic Italian food‼️ Service was spot on, and my entire family loved every bite. Wine by the pour or bottle, and everything could be taken to eat at our cabana on the beach. Does not get much better.

Google
This Restaurant has potential but lacks Management customer service/Table Service my first time here and nothing wowed me the waitress were slow and unatentive i literally had to raise my hand like if i was in school to get someone's attention The food was ok the Calzone was so small for the price but tasted good, the pizza pie was ok but the crust was not completely cooked throughout. The Pollo Parmesan Pasta was Decent we added shrimp to all 3 of our orders, The Italian Fries were so Good Crispy fresh Fries Topped with black olives/fetta cheese Sprinkled with Oregano this appetizer is catchy. So for me i have mixed reviews about this place food is decent but it lacks customer service. They also automatically include 15% gratuity into the bill which i wasn't happy about.I wouldn't Revisit not worth the $82 i spent.

Yelp
I walked the shops at Broadwalk, to get a little cardio and sun at the same time, and decided pizza was the lunch for the day. Well, okay. Hubby requested it, and who doesn't like pizza? I looked at all the pizza shops within a few mins. Read ratings on many. Decided to take a chance on this place, despite all the negative reviews. Not sure what all the negative ratings are about. I read quite a few. The young lady, who greeted me, was very pleasant. After reading all the reviews, and asking a few questions, I ordered pizza with several toppings, meatballs, and tiramisu ... two pieces of course to go. The young lady advised it would be about 15-20 mins or so. The pizza was really delicious. They do not skimp on the cheese. The crust was perfectly cooked, not too thick, not too thin, and yummy. The meatballs were meatballs. Not bad at all. The tiramisu was scrumptious! I almost ate both pieces in a row, but trying to save it for later. Oh, and they gave me plates, utensils, napkins, and packaged it nicely for my walk back. Didn't even think to ask, and many restaurants don't give these items if you don't ask. Again, not sure what the details are with the negative reviews. Bad service? Short staff? Bad day? Bad attitude? Unrealistic expectations? This is not a fast food place, so service us going to take longer. And, it's Italian, and Europeans don't rush. And, it's on the beach. The pandemic has affected the entire world, so take a deep breath, slow down, enjoy life, and go with the flow. When you rush, you miss little details that matter.

Yelp
Hands down the best Italian restaurant in Miami. I've been following the owner since Nido. Every time I eat here it never disappoints. Great seafood that transports you to the coasts of Italy. Love the look of the restaurant as well, very nautical.

Yelp
This restaurant is permanently closed and has been for months. Too bad, their grilled octopus salad was a,favorite!

Yelp
This place is just okay. The pasta is edible but the pizza is a little bit better. If you're looking for something fast, then this place is perfect.

Yelp
At Hollywood beach Read reviews for here and gave it a try. The food is A+ real Italian home made feel. The chicken parm is baked and awesome. Pizza is good and we got A "fried " (in olive oil) black olive dish with garlic that was outstanding. Highly recommended Great service Great atmosphere

Yelp
I wish there is a 0 star review for this business. We ordered pasta wuth chicken, chicken was not fresh and smells so bad. It was the most horrible pasta and pizza we ever had. Also the restaurant was not clean so I hope we will not get sick eventhough we did not eat the whole order.

Yelp
What an adorable little spot that looks like nothing on the outside. There is magic happening in the kitchen however. We arrived with no reservation (not sure they even do reservations). A friendly girl sat us at a sweet little table on the boardwalk at the end of their property. There was a cute white picket fence and an incredible ocean view. It was a little more quiet being on the end instead of right in front of the restaurant and host stand and it was perfect. The servers were all so attentive. Anyone who walked by checked on us. We felt so cared for by the whole team. What a nice touch! The wine, appetizers, entrees and desserts were all fantastic. It was a total surprise to receive such tasty food. The recipes are the real deal! Layers of flavors expertly prepared made me a believer. When you are on this casual boardwalk, you don't really expect top notch meals. But that is exactly what they are serving. The bonus is the adorable servers who kept an eye on us our entire meal. I couldn't have asked for anything more.

Yelp
A solid place on the beach for pizza. Located a little south of Maragritaville, this section of the beach is not as crowded. They have an indoor part with a/c, and lots of outdoor seating right on the Broadwalk. The pizza was good. A little different than the traditional margarita pizza, it was essentially just a cheese pizza with tomato and basil on top but still quite tasty.

Yelp
I would love to give this place 4 stars because our food was fantastic...but the service was so slow. I had the lasagna, and my husband had the chicken parm. Both came in these crock pot oven dishes. They were both really good, but my lasagna was pretty exceptional as far as restaurants go. They also give complimentary bread which was good as well. Beautiful spot right on the boardwalk in front of the ocean. The only downside was the service. Even with only 3 or 4 tables filled, the service was very slow. Even just getting our waters took a good 15 minutes. I would probably come back at least for the food, but be prepared to wait.

Yelp
My second time in this place , a 10 out of 10 the food is great the prices are good , the service its amazing !! Super recomended !!

Yelp
Saturday, June 10 my daughter and I stopped in for some pizzas. The wait staff was great we decided we wanted our food to go... we ordered two. The pizzas were disgusting for $24 a piece. We got a regular pepperoni pizza which was void of any mozzarella and a bolognese. The menu said it came with ground hamburger onions tomatoes and mozzarella I requested additional bell peppers. It's a literally came with a thin sauce and a spattering of ground beef and nothing else. Not even mozzarella. Unbelievable waste of money I do not recommend this place at all.

Yelp
I love Hollywood Beach and the boardwalk! We were looking for a place to eat Friday night and stopped in here. It was great because we got to sit outside with a beautiful evening beach view. Here's my take: LOCATION: Nice! Sit outside and enjoy the weather and people watching haha... SERVICE: Eh, not so hot. They seated us right away but we had to wait for someone to come over. Maybe 7-8 minutes. The girl came over and took our drink order. We decided to order a calamari appetizer. Good thing because our food took about 30 mins. Our server never brought out bread - she said she was going to get it then nothing. Had to ask twice for my drink. Asked for water... then asked again about 10 mins later. It wasn't overly busy so I'm not sure why there were so many issues. FOOD: The appetizer was good. Calamari was tasty but there wasn't much of it. They put some greens on a plate and charge $16.99. Oh well. I had penne pasta and meatballs. It was just ok. Not enough sauce and the meatballs were tiny. I mean 1" diameter... maybe 1.5" The taste wasn't extraordinary. I've had better. Now my boyfriend, on the other hand really enjoyed his stromboli. It was thin dough (not the big mouthful/corners of dough you can get sometimes), had pepperoni, mozzarella, peppers and mushrooms. His only complaint was not enough cheese. All in all it was ok. But just that.... ok. Doubt I'd stop here again.

Yelp
I read the reviews and was super excited. The staff was very nice and the place was clean. However, the food that other reviews raved about is apparently no longer served. We had a salad that came with dressing from a bottle you can get at any grocery store. The chicken parm was average and slightly over cooked. It did not look like the photos and the tomato sauce tasted like it was from a can. The mojito was tasty but the mint leaves were almost puréed as you got a mouth full with every sip. There were only two of us and they automatically added 15% gratuity to our bill. I tip 20% even when I'm disappointed...their loss. There are other Italian restaurants in the area. We will be trying those next time.

Yelp
Dropped in for a quick bite here. Parking is a bit of a pain, just a heads up but to be expected on hollywood beach. The mussels were tasty and the bruschetta very flavorful. I wanted more fresh garlic in both dishes--which is atypical of an Italian joint. The margarita was just decent, no real wow factors for me for the price points.
google avatar

Kara M.

Yelp
We stopped in here one weekend afternoon while visiting the boardwalk. We were warmly greeted and seated outdoors. The views from our table of the ocean were lovely. They do have some seats indoors as well. I had a pizza and my husband went for chicken parm. The food was fresh and delicious. I will definitely be back here again at some point. Good service and no complaints on that aspect. Only two small negatives: -Prices are a bit high, but most spots on the boardwalk are. -We were charged for bottled water. We did not ask for this, so I thought it was strange. I wonder if we should request tap water next time.

Yelp
After a day at the beach, we went out in search of food and came across this little pizzeria. The servers there, if I'm not mistaken, are Italian so we decided to try out an authentic Italian pizza. The wait time was a little longer than expected but it's a pizza from scratch so I didn't mind. I don't usually eat Margherita pizza but I went with some friends who wanted and we decided to get that. Oh my goodness that pizza was so delicious, and we also had some classic bruschetta. If you knew me, you'd think I was wired enjoying something with tomatoes on top but it was THAT good, I didn't mind the tomatoes at all. Who knew pizza by the beach would be so delicious
google avatar

Hu N.

Yelp
The Margherita pizza was below average but when I got the check, the prices for food and cocktails were higher than listed on the menu. Also, an 18% "service charge" was already included in the total. The bill had a blank line for "tip" which is just wrong. I felt ripped off by the experience. View is fabulous but you can get that at any of the broadwalk restaurants.
google avatar

Chris T.

Yelp
Good but not great. Good service, good food, but didn't blow me away. Flavors were good but was expecting more. Great scenery (on the beach basically) and fun to people watch.
google avatar

Irene Z.

Yelp
I'll give this place a 2.5 because I ate the food. Pizza was thin, I don't mind but not enough cheese really, the lasagna was so greasy, serves was mediocre maybe cause I got there at 8 and they close at 10:30 on Saturday. This place is NOT a 4 star at all
google avatar

Scot A.

Yelp
Shady I really don't like it when a good restaurant does shady stuff with tipping. Adding 15% then adding a tip calculation at the bottom as though they didn't already add it makes me feel like they are trying to cheat me. The meal was also pretty expensive. $60+ for octopus, tomatoes and a glass of Cabernet with no name seems high, right? See pics.
google avatar

Yelp
Tiny little Italian restaurant on the Hollywood board walk. It has a very limited menu , but the food we had was very good. Although the food was very good, the service was even better. The only downside was they had no pizza or calzone tonight. They more then made up for not having pizza, they brought us out a flat bread with mozzarella and tomatoes. Mmmmm Good! And they put our drinks on the house. I had the Pollo parmigiana, it was more like a bake ziti with chichen. It came out nice and hot and tasted great. It wasn't very expensive, good food and great service. Next time I'm there I really want to try the pizza, it looked really good in all the pictures I saw on yelp.

Yelp
Sapore Di Mare is a little pizza/pasta spot on the boardwalk that's tucked away and easily missed! It didn't have flashing lights like the other places but that's more than ok, didn't need them! They had plenty of customers, and from what it sounded like, there was an older gentleman that comes in every weekend to have dinner there! The outdoor seating was really nice because you were able to see everyone that walked by or just listen to the waves hitting the sand. Very cute and cozy! The staff was very attentive. I ordered the margarita pizza and it was delicious! It was a very thin pie with small slices so if you're going with a large group maybe order a few pizzas! I would say one pie will comfortably feed 2-3 people. Bottom line is: come here for a good time!
google avatar

Sheila H.

Yelp
Food is amazing!!! Pizza is amazing! Octopus salad, calamari salad, seafood linguine AMAZING! I would come back here in a heartbeat. Service was outstanding. Such a great place to eat and enjoy the beach.
google avatar

Oscar A.

Yelp
Stop for a bit at the Hollywood Beach boardwalk to walk around with the family and decided to try Sapore Di Mare for dinner. Didn't have an appetizer because I figured the pasta dish the I picked, which was the lasagna, would fill me up pretty good. Had some Peroni beer beforehand and it was not as cold and being Dominican/Puerto Rican, we love to drink beer freezing cold. The lasagna I had was fantastic plenty flavorful. Plenty of cheese to go around and the bechamel and bolognese spot on. The only thing I can say is that I can't say that this lasagna is better than my moms lol. Enjoy!
google avatar

Yelp
Family owned restaurant per our waitress:) What I look for in pizza is fresh ingredients, thin homemade crust, mild to moderate crunch. This pizza pie met all my expectations...Then dessert...I opted for a piece of tiramisu and American coffee. What I loved best about the tiramisu was being able to taste each layer as they blended so well together rather than distracting from one another. As for the coffee, ahhhhh, soooo good. It included a side of warm milk and was prepared at semi strong strength. Our waitress was attentive and the men who appeared to be the owners were consistently seen lending a helping hand. Best of all, I felt a sincere vibe of care for each customer. "When a moon hits your eye like a big pizza pie That's amore"
google avatar

Rudi S.

Yelp
Good food, loved fried olives with garlic and Italian fries with feta cheese. Pizza was very delicious. The only thing that the restaurant should improve is service, it is ok, but not friendly.
google avatar

Adri J.

Yelp
Decided to have dinner on the boardwalk and the reviews suggested that this was a good place to eat and being that my daughter loves Italian food it was a no brainer to give it a try and am I ever so glad that we did! The hostess was pleasant and sat us down right away she pushed 2 small tables together to accommodate us. The waitress came right away and took our drink orders. We ordered a Caprese to start off with and as the main dishes we ordered the Prosciutto Pizza, Chicken Parmigiana and Spaghetti Bolognese. Everything tasted AMAZING!! The staff was friendly and kind and the owner himself came to our table and asked us how our food was and thanked us for dining there and sent over some complimentary Espressos'. We all enjoyed our food and it was nice sitting on the boardwalk and taking in the nice ocean breeze. Definitely will be coming back again.
google avatar

Yelp
Overpriced and unfair mandatory 15% tip! I did not notice and tipped again. Food was stinky and overpriced! NEVER again!
google avatar

Yelp
Being a Jersey girl I grew up loving Summer and the Jersey shore. Now many years later I move to Hollywood to be near the Broadwalk and Beach. Unfortunately though food was never great. So many times I tell hubby let's go to the beach to eat he thinks not. So last night we finally tried Sapore Di Mare it has been bookmarked forever and 4.5 stars can't be wrong. Well they are as it is a perfect 5! We chose to sit inside with a great view of the ocean. To start for me a Proseco $10. for hubby Peroni beer $6. Nice way to start off our TGIF eve. We shared the meatball appetizer these are fresh and delicious. Hubby proceeds to have a mixed green salad and the lasagna which is served in the ceramic dish that it is baked in. You can taste the distinct difference in the sauces from the meatballs to the lasagna. Definitely homemade and a find on the Broadwalk home to many a pizza place. For dessert the Tiramisu looked amazing but too full definitely next time.
google avatar

B J.

Yelp
How they have four stars on Yelp is beyond me. Throw this entire app in the trash if this is four stars. This restaurant is super mediocre, and that's putting it kindly. There must be better Italian food in Hollywood. Just don't eat here.
google avatar

Elizabeth 'Betsy' G.

Yelp
This is one of my faves. This is a small restaurant with extremely tasty food. I ordered an off menu item and was truly amazed. The noodles were cooked to perfection and the flavor was superb. The grilled octopus was the best I have ever had and the portion was incredible. The staff is extremely attentive and friendly. Their customer service is on point. I will def return and enjoy their hospitality.
google avatar

Matthew W.

Yelp
We have walked past this place numbers times while walking the Hollywood Beach Boardwalk... tonight was the night to give it a try. It was a little chilly by Florida standards so we sat inside... what a cute homey place. Felt like I was walking into my Italian cousins house for dinner. The staff was extremely friendly and greeted us as we walked in. The pizza on the table next to us looked AMAZING!!! But, being Valentine's day we went with dinners... my beautiful gf ordered the seafood pasta...I got the clams in white wine and we started with the grilled octopus. Everything was delicious! The best part of the meal was the grilled octopus... absolutely yummy!!! We will be back for the pizza soon!!!

Yelp
It was a cool Tuesday night in Hollywood, FL. No one was eating outside. We wanted some good hearty Italian food to warm us from the inside. We weren't disappointed. This reminded me of some of the best places we ate at in Italy rather than the Americanized places that are dark with checked tablecloths and Chianti bottles wrapped in straw on the tables. My advice about Sapore Di Mare is to leave your expectations at the door, to relax and enjoy a fine Italian meal. Some reviewers have commented about the music. Don't expect opera or other Italian classics. They play Dominican Bachata. I asked our server if the cook or owner is Dominican. She replied "he's Turkish." We split a house salad which was quite good. My wife ordered the margarita pizza and I had spaghetti calabrece. Check the menu carefully before ordering. My wife expected basil, tomato sauce and cheese on her pizza. It arrived with only tomato sauce and cheese. It was still very good. My pasta came with olives, spinach and garlic cooked in a light tomato sauce. It was quite good. For desert our server suggested the chocolate mousse. It was very good. We headed out I to the cool blustery night happily full and ready for the long walk back to our hotel. Come here without expectations and be pleasantly surprised.
google avatar

Sherry W.

Yelp
After reading the yelp reviews I had to check this place out. The owner is the server and has to take care of about 10 tables. The wife is in the kitchen cooking. They provide free bottled water. There is no bread basket served. I ordered the $14 lasagna. It came in an iron skillet and was okay. It didn't have the bright red sauce I usually find with a lasagna. This had more of a chef Boyardee type of red sauce. It came with a slice of white Italian bread (no butter or olive oil). My friend ordered the chicken parmesan sandwich. I didn't even recognize it when it arrived. It was served with two large pieces of sliced Italian bread. The chicken was cut in strips and not breaded. It was just chicken strips, sauce, and melted cheese in between two slices of thin bread. I had never seen a chicken parmesan sandwich look like that. The place is not fancy. There is indoor and outdoor dining. Overall, service was okay. He never checked to see if we were happy with our meals. Had to ask for more water. Food was average. There are better places in Hollywood circle for Italian, but if at the beach this is an ok choice.

Yelp
You can find hidden gems anywhere. Even a place that's been there all along in your backyard. Right on the touristy strip of the Hollywood Boardwalk. I was looking for breakfast and cheated/assisted with Yelp. As a good man Glenn said in a review once it's nice to go off the Yelp beaten path but more often than not your better served checking who is doing it right. Here it is. Quickly I realized that the lunch menu far exceeded anything on the brunch so we changed our approach. The lunch menu beckoned. Along with the main guy/owners assist we peperoni di Salsiccia, with meatballs(off menu). He kept throwing in things for free(bottle of water, meatballs, 1 cannoli) and it was just from his apparent love to make all the diners happy. It was a packed house, tough to be a seat. The pasta was increíble! Did I mention the cannoli? If you know your cannoli's you would have to agree this one is very very good. We had a pudding that was sweet and relentlessness to please your taste buds. Service, entree, view, and desert: hit the beach and go Italian!
google avatar

Giulianna L.

Yelp
This is our third visit to la Bella Sapore Di Mare. We'll return again and again and again. Authentic Italian cuisine perfectly prepared and paired with the best Hollywood beach views. Highly recommend the grilled octopus. Buon Appetito! Cin Cin a la Dolce Vita!

Lisa N.

Yelp
Very nice service! Pillowy gnocchi and nice to be outside right by the ocean. Very friendly to our kids, which was really nice.

Jackie S.

Yelp
Not a win. Stromboli crust was great but insides were not cooked fully, cheese not melted and cold red vinaigrette instead of marinara. Italian fries were okay but I wasn't expecting cold black olives from a can. Pizza crust is solid and salads are fresh if you go, stick to these. Calamari was well cooked but a little pricy at $18 for 6 rings. Most importantly, signs say "AC Inside" which is not the case. It was cooler on the patio.
google avatar

Anthony S.

Yelp
So I always start these things like this: Being 100% Italian, I know Italian food. This place was very good. It's a small mom and pop place, and they have great service, and amazing food! Super small and quaint. One bathroom, and about 10 tables. The food was seriously amazing! We tried (in the order of hope I would rate the taste). 1. Lasagna 2. Marechiara calebrese 3. Grilled octopus 4. Gameberetti alla griglia 5. Carbonara The coffee was ok, but the canoli was very tasty and fresh! Overall, great place to have a real, and delicious meal.
google avatar

Tami H.

Yelp
We came here looking for a quick and light lunch. Found the place to be overpriced... ended up getting salads and bruschetta. Salads were fresh and as described on the menu. The bruschetta came in thinly sliced bread so it got soggy pretty fast; but the topping tasted pretty good and garlicky. Our server was not very attentive and did not seem happy to be there. She also gave us the check and stood there waiting for us to pay, awkward.

Yani L.

Yelp
We were very disappointed with our order the only thing that was good about this restaurant was there service . The food was very poor the chicken parmasian fooled us by its presentation but the chicken was bad the brusketta had no mozerrella it tasted old it was all bad !!!!

Levi M.

Yelp
Foods great! We had ordered their pizza and took it down to the beach. Couldn't have asked for a better lunch!

Laura G.

Yelp
The food is excellent as is the service. However, they do not respect Covia rules . Most servers are unmasked and some unvaccinated. That does not conform with the Miami/Dade instructions nor with what they have on their website As much as I like their food I will not be returning there. If you care for your health, refrain from doing there
google avatar

Mark S.

Yelp
Pizza was delicious, the insulata alla romana saLad was good also. Very fresh. Outside seating was nice a small breeze and covered. There are so many dishes that look better than the pizza but I was determined to get pizza today. (Birthday) wish I could come back to try them all, but flying out today back to snow and ice.

Victoria M.

Yelp
If you're looking for delicious fresh tasting food. This is the place! The bruschetta was the best I've had in a long time. We will be back.

Yelp
We found this place by accident. We usually went to another Italian restaurant on the boulevard but it was so busy that we checked out another place close by that had decent reviews. This place was great. Service was really good. The girls worked hard and were on top of our table and made sure we were always happy. The food came quickly and was FRESH. There was nothing reheated or old. Even the salads are fresh cut. We ordered pizza and pastas and calamari. Portion sizes are a bit small but okay. The food is decent quality and everything tasted fresh. Pizza was great! Pasta dishes were good too. We had ordered three different types and they accidentally made an extra type and brought it to our table and said "we made an extra order by accident. Did you want it anyways? No charge". We accepted as the portions were slightly smaller. Made up for it. As for the seafood. It was okay quality. I enjoyed the Calabrese pasta dish. My dad liked the clam pasta dish. The Bolognese was delish. And the 4-Cheese penne pasta was outstanding The pizza was great as well. Recommendations: More pasta noodle types. Only spaghetti and penne options. And pasta isn't expensive so adding a bit more to a plate is always appreciated. The coffee is subpar... but desserts are decent. Overall the the place is decent. Calm at night and it's nice to hear the waves of the ocean as you eat. Will be back. Thanks for a great experience.

Melissa K.

Yelp
The service here was good very nice and prompt. I feel bad for the waitresses because the food is terrible. The pizza came out like a wet noodle. So greasy i had to mop it up with a napkin. The salmon pasta was supposed to come in a cream sauce and it came in a marinara with zero flavor. The fish was covered in skin and very difficult to eat. Our daughter had a kids spaghetti and meatballs that seemed like they opened a can of plain tomato sauce and frozen meatballs. So bad. Chef Boyardee is better.

Yelp
Small place on the boardwalk . We strolled in looking for the house special grilled octopus. It was a pleasant surprise cooked to perfection served with a green salad . Big chunks of fresh grilled octopus. Did not dissapoint, I have tried in fancier places and this is top on my list! .
