Sapori Restaurant & Bar

We had the tasting menu, which overall was disappointing. The trout within Saproni snacks was a great start, home made bread that was more like bread bin scraps with barely any butter provided didn't live up to extra special sourdough bread in Tesco. The quality of this basket of bread belongs nowhere near a tasting menu and seemed more like a attempt to bulk the meal to avoid a review about being hungry. The 200 day ribeye was a disgrace, felt like we were being served the offcuts from someone else's meal, considering our love for steak drew us to the restaurant it really left a poor taste. Considering you are served 3 tiny rectangles of ribeye, two of mine were 95% fat, really hitting home these are offcuts instead of a delicate plate full of flavour. Fettuccine was fine but too aldeante and again seemed like a bulker instead of a journey of flavour expected from a Italian restaurant, the halibut was great and lifted our spirits after a extremely disappointing ribeye, Apple and Yazu was fresh on a bed of crumbs that balanced the textures and gave us hope for a amazing pudding to finish. However, instead we were served a dry sponge cake, on a bed of dry crumbs, with a dry biscuit and dry Coco honey comb shape from the previous Yazu pallet cleanser and no sign of vanilla panacota to cut through the dryness although you'd of required a pot of cream to achieve this. It made us feel like we were an after thought of getting served a reheated cake at 10pm as they cleaned the kitchen over wine & beer, instead of a customer they wanted back. As local residents this is disappointing as we had such high hopes that we could have found a gem to visit several times a year. Instead now we are left wondering if it would even be worth returning for Sunday lunch. The service was great, with polite well timed meals. My advice would be to not pack people in like sardines in the fine dining section to really maximise what could be a spectacular atmosphere within a two part restaurant that has a more relaxed pizzeria attached. Particularly hard to have a conversation when you're 30 cm from a table of attendees intent on drinking as much as possible and matching it with loudness.

Came here for our 10 year anniversary on a bit of whim and my god, it exceeded all expectations. The service was warm and friendly. The food was impeccable - we had the beef filled pasta in carbonara sauce which was divine but the stars of the show were the meat mains. I had the pork and my partner had the beef and he said it was the best beef he’s ever had. I’d probably say the pork was the best I have ever had too - absolutely stunning. The desserts were lovely and the flavours worked so well together - the storytelling for one of the desserts was so special. I hope they get their star soon, they really deserve it. We can’t wait to bring friends next time because wow what an experience. Thank you for a wonderful evening!

We visited Sapori to celebrate our 3rd anniversary and chose the 8-course tasting menu, it was an amazing experience from start to finish. Every dish was beautifully presented and full of flavour. The homemade bread with Sicilian olive oil and Jersey butter was simple but delicious. The king prawns with roasted peppers and crispy gnocchi were a real highlight, perfectly cooked and full of flavour. The spaghettone with Vesuvio tomatoes and basil was classic, comforting, and full of depth, and the fillet of beef was tender and cooked perfectly. The lemon gelato was a refreshing break before the rhubarb and vanilla dessert, which looked stunning and tasted just as good. The team even surprised us with a “Happy Anniversary” message on the plate, which made the evening feel really special. Service was friendly and professional throughout, and the whole experience felt relaxed yet refined. A perfect evening and a lovely way to celebrate — we’ll definitely be back!

What a wonderful place for a 60th birthday celebration. We had the tasting menu with wine paintings: perfect portion sizes, very creative, interesting and beautifully presented food. Everyone was really friendly, helpful and knowledgeable - special mention for Emi's wine knowledge and Alisha's charm. We felt treated like royalty with our own perfect "chef's table" (ask for table 1!) We will definitely be back. Thank you to Andreas and all the Sapori team 🙏

A return visit something that is very rare for us locally. We were greeted in the bar area and asked if we would like a drink in the bar or at the table in the restaurant we chose the latter. We were given the choice of an a la carte, set or tasting menu. Being midweek we chose a la carte knowing we would share each dish ordered anyway. Having viewed the Chefs social media videos of his bread making we asked for a side order of the bread which was outstanding a sourdough, a focaccia and a crisp bread that came with a light butter and amazing olive oil. For starters we chose the grilled Octopus, confit tomato, tagiasche olive preserved lemon Pizza ( a signature dish of the chef owner) which was a real star dish the pizza base crisp & light. The confit tomatoes punchy with flavour, the olives and preserved lemon balancing out the whole dish with perfectly cooked Octopus. Our other starter was Fregola pasta from Sardinia, prawns, mussels & saffron, cooked to perfection & again packed with flavour. For mains we chose Halibut with a yellow tomato sauce the fish a generous sized portion that was skillfully cooked, the potato, samphire & mushroom garnish brought together the whole dish. Pork 4 ways showed the kitchens skill level as each element was again perfectly cooked each one giving a different layer of flavour & texture the pasta element silky & the sherry jus was indulgent balanced with the root vegetable garnish. For dessert we ordered the tartlet (chocolate) which was at the same level as recent michelin star versions we have tasted. Thin pastry that snapped when cut into, warm rich chocolate filling & toasted hazelnuts. Terra Mia, Another signature dish of the chef owner and a wonderful representation of his home town a dessert I have experienced here previously its worth visiting Sapori just to taste this dessert alone Service was outstanding, front of house staff very knowledgeable regarding the menu, wines & other drinks on the list. For me this place is worthy of 3 aa rosettes and deserves more recognition from Michelin and other food guides

My 60th birthday with family. Presentation of the food and the taste, amazing. Cannot speak highly enough of this Restaurant. Head chef, Andre's, very talented. Thank you to all the staff who made our visit very special. Highly recommend a visit.

We recently had the pleasure of visiting Sapori to celebrate our Company’s 30th birthday. From our initial discussions and booking the event, through to hosting 58 of our colleagues, family and friends Emi and the team at Sapori were fantastic and very accommodating. The service from all staff was exceptional and nothing was too much trouble. The food was amazing and although catering for such a large number, each course was presented to guests at the same time! We have received lots of positive feedback from our colleagues not only about the delicious food but also about the outstanding service and great atmosphere. We would most definitely recommend Sapori! Thank you Emi and all at Sapori for making our special celebration a night to remember!

I've been meaning to try this place for years, and having finally tried it I'm certain I'll be back! The food here is phenomenal. I loved their take on the Melanzano, and my missus didn't offer me a single ravioli to even taste, so I'm fairly certain it was pretty damn good! The desserts were sumptuous, hosts and hostesses very friendly, and happy to provide an opinion on the menu. Open kitchen, so hearing "Yes Chef!" As your order is processed is always nice to see. Prices aren't cheap, but they do provide value for what you're getting. The restaurant clearly isn't cutting corners. They considerate with dietary needs, and puts you at ease when ordering. I'll be back.

Awesome ambience, but the food was no where near the standard it should have been. I've eaten at a-lot if Italian restaurants and Sapori has dropped to the bottom of my favourites. I hadn't been here for a while and couldn't believe the prices, shocking, £17-20 for a starter wtf! The main course portions were small and they cost £20+ Wife asked for a simple Arrabbiata which they did go out of their way and make, but it lacked flavour and seasoning, actually a-lot of food lacked seasoning. The food looks great on a plate but don't be deceived. They also added their service charge on top of all the high meal prices, so we ended paying £18 service charge for 4 of us, another wtf moment.

After hearing many amazing things about this restaurant, my partner and i decided to try it on Saturay night. Sapori is a beautiful looking restaurant, contemporary and stylish. The host and wait staff were very attentive and knowledgeable. We shared the Antipasto for two to start which was absolutely delicious and a perfect sized portion. Although my partner and i are both carnivores we decided to try 2 different vegetarian pastas for our entrees and they were just okay. Mine, the mushroom tortellini was slightly better than my other halfs dish of ear shaped pasta with a creamy broccoli sauce, smoked scarmoz cheese and chilli. To be honest, both dishes were just a bit bland and lacking flavor. For desert I ate the chocolate and hazlenut millefouille which was delicious and my partner had a fabulous looking cheese plate with a glass of port , We ended the meal with full and flavorful coffees served with a mini biscotti. Overall we enjoyed our experience and will go again but definitely choose something different as our main courses.

Sapori is a contemporary Italian restaurant on the outskirts of Leicester. I wouldnt say that Sapori is my usual eating destination however it was graduation celebration meal so I guess it was kind of a special occasion. The overall ambiance of the restaurant was a little flat for my liking, but I can say that the food is very nice. For my starter I ordered the Capesante all'amatriciana (or its less exotic name "pan-fried scallops") which were probably the best I've tasted, well done Sapori. For my main I ordered the Mezzi paccheri all'arrabbiata di gamberi con finocchi e olive appassite all'origano (which translates to "pasta with tiger prawns") this was also nice but the flavours were slightly basic for me to say it was from a classy Italian restaurant. All in all Sapori is a decent but pricey and has good potential, however I can safely say I've been to better Italian restaurants which serve more flavourful food at better prices.
