We visited on a Friday evening with a gift card we received from a kid’s birthday party. The shop was packed, with many families excited for ice cream and patiently waiting in line. Some families were also sitting at tables with their little ones, enjoying books from the shelf, which added a cozy touch. They had a wide variety of flavors, including some that seemed unique to this shop. I ordered the creamy butter pecan, while my kids chose party cake and strawberry. The flavors were a bit different from what we expected — my butter pecan, for example, seemed to have a hint of nutmeg — but that uniqueness made the experience special. Overall, it was a fun evening out as a family, and we enjoyed both the atmosphere and the ice cream.

So many unique flavors! It was seriously hard to chose which ones we wanted. They allow samples which helped narrow it down, but the decisions were still tough. We went with chunky cookie dough and Oreo lover. Chunky cookie dough was great, and had a good amount of cookie dough pieces in it. Oreo lover was my favorite of the two. It was delicious and had a lot of Oreo pieces mixed in which I loved! The space is small but there is seating both inside and outside. The employees were really friendly and I definitely want to come back and try more!

One of the best ice cream places I’ve been to! They’ve got a large selection of flavors with unique ones as well as classics. Up to two flavors can be sampled upon request. One scoop was $5, half and half $6. I got pistachio and it was delicious! Service was fast and friendly. They’ve got lots of seating both indoors and outdoors. They were popular on a Friday night and it was easy to see why! Highly recommend checking out this place.

I enjoy their ice-cream but im very unimpressed with my current experience. I requested a black sesame crumble cake pint and when I got home it was a different flavor. The ice-cream wasn't even for me. So for those buying pints double check before you walk out of the store.

This ice cream was AMAZING. I tried as many flavors as time permitted, and each one made it more difficult to pick the flavor for my cone. I went with the PeanutButter Fudge, but anything with oreos or coffee in it made my decision a challenge. I'll just have to come back! This was easily better than any of the large chain store ice creams. Can't wait to try a different flavor next time.

What a delightful experience! So many flavors to choose from. We took the flight, all of them were very tasty. Best were almond coconut and Sandy Shore Chesapeake. 100% recommend! Will be going back soon.

I needed a pie for my little one's birthday, and they provided the most delicious Oreo pie! Seriously, best I've had! They were also kind enough to add a birthday greeting!

I wonder if Olympians Katie Ledecky and Michael Phelps ever tried Sarah's ice cream? They're both from Bethesda, Maryland. This is a nice ice cream joint with lots and lots of unique flavors. I tried their half & half flavors of peach and chocolate just for $6. It's less than two scoops. I was afraid that I would be overloading too much sweet but it was pretty light.

There are many flavors of ice cream to choose from. We ordered a half and half cup of two flavors. Crunchy Cookies Dough and peanut butter fudge! Great handmade ice cream!

A small ice cream spot with limited indoor and outdoor seating. The ice cream was amazingggg!! Creamy, rich, & not too much. The service was great and friendly. I tried the oreo lover and it was so great!! 10/10 I will definitely be back to try their other flavors.

A friend who lives nearby suggested we stop in before a recent trip to the Glenstone Museum, and at first I was a bit hesitant since it is after all, December and I typically don't eat ice cream in the Winter months. But I'm glad I took her recommendation, since Sarah's Handmade is one of the better ice cream shops in the state of MD! I had been interested in visiting Sarah's for a while, after reading a few articles online (https://visitmontgomery.com/directory/sarahs-handmade-ice-cream) about the shop's namesake owner, Sarah Park, and watching a video about how Sarah's daughter Annie Park collaborated to turn her mom's hobby into a thriving business with multiple stores in the DMV. The thing that really sets Sarah's Homemade Ice Cream apart from the competition besides being a locally owned business, are the multitude of unique flavors. Oh sure, at Sarah's you can find the requisite Vanilla, chocolate, cookies and cream, and other common flavors. But Sarah's is also scooping Pistachio, Mango Sorbet, vegan selections, and also scrumptious Asian offerings. I'm a sucker for anything matcha, so I opted for the single scoop of this Japanese favorite. The frozen confection was a nice shade of light green and each bite was smooth, creamy, and had trademark "sweet but not too sweet" flavor with subtle tea notes. I tried some of my friend's Thai Ice tea flavor, which made me momentarily second guess my choice, as it was also incredibly good. I love the bright interior decor, with white walls and the flavors posted onto clipboards, and most importantly, large display cases where customers can drool and debate which flavor to get. There is limited seating indoors, but since it was a mild December day, as long as we were in the sun, enjoying our ice cream treats on the patio was an unexpected pleasure.

Unfortunately as a frequent customer I was not happy tonight. My daughter bought a half and half of coffee Oreo and banana pudding but the banana pudding tasted like it was expired. My daughter told me to try it once she hopped in the car she said that it didn't taste like it usually does. I tasted it and had to toss it out. Please check your expiration date as the banana pudding at this location tonight did not taste like it always does. It tasted like cottage cheese and sour. I would love my refund back. Please advise.

The staff was pretty nice and gave samples but I felt very rushed, there was ice cream residue at the counter we sat, and there were lots of intriguing flavors on the menu. All of the flavors were very creamy, definitely giving Jeni's a run for her money. Matcha cheesecake - strong creamy, matcha flavor Blueberry swirl - not artificial tasting at all, really enjoyable Red velvet cake - one of the more basic tasting, like vanilla ice cream with a dabble of red velvet cake Bethesda brownie brickle - my favorite! Super buttery and addicting with delicate crunches of toffee that were not too hard to chew Dark & stormy rum raisin - did not like at all, was hoping it would taste like Haagen Dazs rum raisin but tasted like funky Sprite and vanilla Banana pudding - also not too artificial tasting, great representation of the actual dessert in ice cream form

Really good ice cream! So many flavor choices that I had a hard time deciding. I went with the blueberry swirl and loved it. My husband got the earl grey speculoos. It had a strong earl grey flavor and he enjoyed it (I liked mine better though). Line wasn't very long and moved quickly. We will be back to try more flavors!

Local Ice cream with tons of different flavors. Their flavors are festive and have funky names. Oh and there's no limit to how many samples you can get! Wooohoo! For my first time trying, I stuck with the basics. I got the Oreo Lover, which is basically a cookies and cream. The cookie pieces in the Ice cream were a little stale but overall It was very tasty. A small cup is approx $5, medium $6 and a large $7+. Their medium cup aka "the half & half" gives you the option to try 2 different flavors. You have the option the get a sugar cone, waffle cone or in a cup. Now if you want your Ice cream in a cup but still want the satisfaction of the cone you can get It placed on top for .25 cents extra. There is very limited seating, so I suggest you get your Ice cream to go. Oh and for the dog owners, they have pup cups for your babies. I'll be back to experience more flavor profiles! #yummy

This place seems to be overrated. The ice cream was very rich and was just okay. I got the m&m ice cream and brownie brittle. The m&m ice ice was just chocolate ice with m&ms. The brownie brittle didn't have any brownies pieces in it. There was nothing special about the ice cream. I also got a chocolate chip cookie. I thought the cookies were homemade and made fresh. They are packaged cookies that have probably been sitting for days.

It was pretty good! I have been spoiled by the choices in DC but I thought I would venture out of my comfort zone and try something new. Plenty of fresh yummie flavors. My only complaint was that it was alittle too sweet for me. But the Bethesda brownie Brickle is a huge winner so stop by and let me know what you think'

Just came to say that I stopped getting a scope of ice cream and started getting personal sized pints. No need to play games when this ice cream is so delicious! The service is always good and the place is always clean when I come in. I'm a fan of Sarah's and will continue to enjoy!

The first time I had this place was back in December 2022, I remember getting a pre packed pint of Oreo lover ice cream and thinking that it was pretty good. But now my second experience has changed for the better. The service was very friendly and helpful, they wanted to make sure that you were all good your ice cream experience. I sampled Oreo lover, fudge brownie, and vanilla bean and ended up getting a fresh custom pint of mostly Oreo lover and a little bit of vanilla bean for 10$. The ice cream was delicious and creamy. The ice cream fresh vs pre packed makes such a huge difference that I wish I knew the first time. This ice cream spot is very good and I'd definitely recommend it and return if nearby.

Wow... so many options... such friendly service... and such delicious ice cream. The pistachio is authentic and smooth. The salted caramel sweet and creamy. The place is accessible with indoor and outdoor seating.

This place is always busy but the line moves and they have enough team members to serve. I usually try go for the fruit flavors but tonight settled on Earl Grey which has some cookie pieces in it. I am a tea drinker so very fitting. It was nice and I'm glad I tried it but I think I'm still more a fruity fan in the summer. Others got a sundae and milkshake. All delish and we will be back. We get ours to go as it's pretty packed and humid outside. Plenty parking which makes it an easy stop.

My hot fudge sundae was a work of art. And the chippy chips flavor was the first time I ever tasted the chocolate (4 different kinds!) in chocolate chip ice cream. Can't wait to come back!

Love this place all flavors tried have been amazing. Service is quick and affective. And it's a nice quit place.

Two word: good ice cream. Oh that's three actually. The ice cream has good flavor and it's not too sweet. It's almost $5.00 for a single scoop. Likely made with good ingredients. The butter pecan is creamy. I had a taste of the pistachio and it was delightful. You get a hint of salt on the nut and then again that creamy ice cream. They have a points rewards system. There are a few tables I front where you can sit to eat your treat. I plan to return. I took off a star for the cake cone. It was breaking up and seemed to be less quality. There was a bit of an aftertaste and I believe it was from the cone.

It's a small shop with limited indoor seating. The shop has bookshelves of books for sale with proceeds going to NIH. They offer a great selection of flavors ranging from gluten free and vegan, to boozy and seasonal options. The service is very fast and friendly. The staff greets every customer that enters the door. I went with my sister and her son tonight. He got the Frankenstein ice cream and I got my new favorite, which is the coconut almond brownie. Needless to say they had a happy customer tonight!

My first experience at this place was very pleasant - the flavors and taste were unique and pronounced. I also love that they are local mom and daughter team who decided to follow their dreams. The service was prompt (and they kept the line moving steadily); the weather was cooperating too, which made the ambiance of the outside seating more appealing. I plan to come back to this scoop shop to bring my out-of-town friends and family here.

The family and I went here for the first time. There was a line out the door which was a good sign. The line moves pretty quickly but not too quickly so that you can take a look at all the flavors they have posted on the wall. I love how they have pictures of each flavor. The folks behind the counter were very friendly and let you have samples. I forgot what my wife and girls got but I had the banana pudding ice cream and it was really good. It even had chunks of vanilla wafers just like banana pudding and was really rich and creamy. Everyone really enjoyed what they got. The hardest part of coming here is deciding which flavor to get because they all looked and tasted so good. Will definitely be back!

Did Sarah stop making her ice cream? This used to be a great ice cream shop and I used to go there with my family and friends all the time. However, starting early this year, the quality declined noticeably. The flavors aren't as distinguishable, as they all taste more or less the same (can you really notice lavender or cherry blossom?). Even the basic flavors aren't the same anymore. We visited the shop once again today, but we had perhaps the worst experience so far. Their new, seasonal mango sorbet tasted like some cheap popsicle with artificial mango flavor. Their "scoop" of m&m flavor was really only a half scoop. So they now offer underwhelming/disappointing flavors and smaller portion, all for an increased price. Also, they now have a new "2 sample limit per family" rule. That's not 2 sample flavors per person, but 2 flavors per family. I have never seen an ice cream shop having that kind of rule. I don't think Sarah's ice cream is worth the premium price it charges anymore. I'll stick with Haagen-Dazs.

Rose Pistachio I love that it has lots of pistachios! The rose flavor was missing, seems to only be the pink hue representing the rose. Still good. Lemon Poppyseed Shortbread Of the two this was my favorite. Perfect blend of the lemon and poppyseeds. The pieces of shortbread set it off. Only down side is the price to the size of scoops. Rather pricey for small scoops. All in all a good ice cream shop.

Why haven't I tried Sarah's Handmade Ice Cream sooner? I don't know but I regret the time I've wasted not enjoying this amazing ice cream! The store is small, but organized. The line moves quickly because the service is fast and and the staff are super friendly! They allow you to try samples so you can guarantee you will like whatever you end up choosing. They also have a ton of flavors, some standard menu flavors and others seasonal. The best part (for me) is they allow you to have two flavors in a small cup (half & half) rather than having to order two full scoops! I tried the seasonal banana pudding the the standard menu flavor of coffee Oreo as a half and half. Both were incredible separately and combined. The ice cream is rich, sweet, and definitely hit the spot on a hot and humid day. I can't wait to come back and try more flavors before the summer is officially over!

Sarah's offers an impressive range of flavors, and the texture of the ice cream truly stands out as perfectly creamy. I was quite pleased with the Salted Caramel, though the Butter Pecan had a bitter aftertaste I wasn't fond of. My partner appreciated the uniqueness of the Dark and Stormy Rum Raisin, though wished the rum flavor was more pronounced. Service left something to be desired; even with a quiet atmosphere, it took a noticeable amount of time for our order to be taken, and it felt rushed. While Sarah's offers decent ice cream, I'm not sure it's enough to draw me back for another visit.

I've been a few times, so I am reminded that I never Yelped about Sarah's. Maybe because I have always been treated to this sweet treat each visit. So many choices! Really, soooo many options! I had a really tough time deciding. I mean come on Libby, you're not choosing a paint color for your house! I settled on pistachio. Something different. Something not too sweet. Something with lots of crunchy pistachio pieces. It was superb. I knew it would be. There hasn't been a Sarah's flavor I haven't liked. I've had two different ice cream flights. And there is still so much more to explore. I hate the crowded parking lot here, but Sarah's is worth winding your way slowly through it for their uniquely satisfying flavor sensations.

An ice cream shop you do not want to miss! Unique flavors and friendly service in Wildwood Shopping Center. My mom and I stopped in today to enjoy a pistachio and espresso bean sugar cone and a coconut chocolate chip and peanut butter fudge cup. They have so many flavors it's hard to choose!

I am so happy I stumbled upon this place. Filled with fantastic ice cream flavors that are extremely well made this is going to become a new favorite joint for me. You're allowed to sale a couple of flavors but choose wisely and know you'll probably love them all. My favourite part about this shop is the clipboard wall of all the flavors. Each flavor is showcased with a description of what's in it allowing you to make the best selection for yourself. Another great feature about this shop is the split scoop. This allows you to try two flavors without having to get two full scoops of ice cream. Perfect for the indecisive yet slightly full individual. What I got: Lemon poppy seed Shortbread - 5* refreshing and delicious! Pure Chocolate - 5* the perfect ice cream for a chocolate lover!

We ordered the ice cream flight, which comes with 6 separate scoops. Dark roasted espresso bean -- 4.2/5 tasted very strongly of espresso but was really grainy like there was coffee grounds in it Thai iced tea -- 4/5 tasted exactly like thai iced tea. wish it was creamier though. Earl grey -- 5/5 amazing spectacular unique taste Oreo lover -- 4/5 very good, cant go wrong Really strawberry -- 3.75/5 your standard strawberry Chevy chase chippy chip -- 4/5 very yummy and creamy

After dinner at Rakugaki, my fiancé and I went to Sarah's Handmade Ice Cream. It was nice that they had a menu of Classic, Seasonal, Vegan/Sorbet, Alcohol/Tea Infused, and Kid Approved flavors. I'll admit that we were overwhelmed by the number of flavors to choose from. When we got to the front of the line, there was a sign that said you can only sample two flavors. I tried the Bailey's Irish Chip and Pumpkin Ginger Spice Latte. They were both good, but I liked Bailey's Irish Chip a bit more. My fiancé loved the Dark Roasted Expresso Beans. We can't wait to try their other flavors including Black Raspberry Chip, Cinnamon Apple Crisp, Coffee Oreo, Key Lime Key West, Lemon Poppyseed Shortbread, Mint Chocolate Chip, Oreo Lover, and Thai Iced Tea.

This place is super popular. I can see why - it offers specialty handmade ice cream like the pricey kind you find on vacation near the beach where everyone goes to hangout at the end of the day. The consistency is thick and very sticky. The flavors are bold and good. However, I was really grossed out because the young man who served me placed two scoops in my cup as I had requested and then proceeded to wipe the entire edge of my cup where the ice cream had spilled over using a rag lying on the counter on which I could see stains from previous use. After he used it, the rag was dropped back onto the counter and I saw it was used again to wipe away stains on the counter as well. I want to support local businesses and I know Sarah's ice cream does great work supporting local youth which I applaud. I also realize that food establishments often do disgusting things we just don't see and we eat the food with blissful ignorance. However, hygiene matters to me when it's food I put into my mouth. I lost my appetite and ate the middle part of the ice cream to taste the flavors and threw the rest away.

This local place is great! We come here for ice cream when we stop down for dinner. Love the interesting flavors and and rich creaminess of the ice cream. Also ordered an ice cream cake for my daughter's birthday party (brownie brickle and black raspberry chip), was delicious! I had the pleasure of sharing all the leftover cake with my daughter after the party (my body doesn't thank me though). This was 10x better than the Friendly's ice cream cake we bought to celebrate on her actual birthday when we were traveling. (Not sure I will ever purchase crappy chain grocery store cakes again). Finally, it's also nice to read about the success of Asian Women immigrants, as one too!

Sarah's Handmade Ice Cream is the perfect way to end a day. This shop isn't very big, though they have a lot of staff working, so the line moves quickly as long as people make decisions about flavors in a timely manner.... They have freshly made waffle cones and they're seriously the best I've ever had. They always have innovative flavors along side some of their regular flavors. Most recently I got the crème brûlée ice cream and the double espresso bean ice cream in a cone. It's a lot of ice cream! But sooo good. Inside there are a few seats, though there's a lot more seating outside, even in cold weather! They have some pre-packed pints and you can also get a six scoop pack of ice cream

Love! Love! Love! If I could, I'd have a scoop of Sarah's ice cream everyday! My niece and I wanted to try a bunch of flavors and opted for the flight. 6 kiddie scoops of ice cream and it was more than enough for us to share! The tea flavored ones were our favorites, but they were all delicious. Each flavor was distinct. Creamy. Those with fruit or nuts had a lot packed in. I need to go back again soon to try not flavors but to also purchase pints to bring home!

Sarah's Handmade always hits the spot when I'm looking for a little treat! They have a huge variety of any flavor you could ask for. I've tried a lot of them but personally really enjoy their espresso flavor as well as the lemon sorbet. The store itself is adorable and they even offer candy toppings, ice cream cakes, cookie sandwiches, and pints of ice cream. The seating area is wonderful and the outdoor seating is spacious as well. The employees have always been kind every time I've been.

Not sure why we never stopped here before. We drive by here once a week. On a Sunday night at 8:30 (Summer), they were pretty packed. There were about 20 people in front od us. However, the staff were very efficient and moved everyone through the line pretty quickly. There were a lot of flavors. Deciding was a little difficult. I ended up with Mango Habanero (interesting, right?l) and good old stand by - butter pecan. My first bite of mango habanero was... oh wait there's the kick... it was definitely different and I would get it again. My husband got the raspberry chocolate chip and mint chocolate chip. He liked the mint chocolate chip better. Definitely will be back but not too often. I don't think my waistline can take it. Overall a great experience, great staff, and great ice creams.

While visiting, my sister took me to this shop for some ice cream! They have soo many flavors which are s awesome but you can only try 2 samples. That was half the battle. I tried the lemon poppyseed & pineapple upside down cake which were both yummy. Also tried my sister's mint mojito and black raspberry chip. I opted for the 1/2 & 1/2 which I would not recommend. Both of my half's together didn't feel like 1 full size and it costs more. I enjoyed my ice cream but didn't feel satisfied,lol. My sister opted to take me back the next night and this time I got the double scoop of peppermint stick (which in Sept is even better) and I also enjoyed the bailey's Irish cream one as well in a homemade waffle cone. Go big or go home, lol. I have to say it was yummy in the tummy on a nice summer night! Will definitely have to try more flavors next time I'm visiting! You won't be disappointed with soo many options! Both times I thought service was ok. Flavors and deliciousness was a 5!! SYOY!

On a warm sunny evening, found Sarahs via Yelp and wanted some ice cream to top off the night. More traditional flavors than at a place like salt and straw, and an extensive selection of sorbets as well as other dairy free options. I enjoyed the banana pudding and Irish chip split scoop because I love variety but didn't want two full scoops. Not sure when I'll find myself in the area again but enjoyed it very much!

This place is a treat with all the different flavors of ice cream. I came in to get their six new flavors pack. They were all delicious!! My family loves to taste the different flavors ... so delicious! Always creamy and distinct. My favorite was the crème brûlée! I love that they have these little six packs, they are the perfect size for my family as a treat so we don't over do it. I also love that they have vegan flavors. There's something for everyone in my family. To top it off I got the special $4.00 off this time! My grandson loves coming here for a sample whenever we're in this area, he loves to try new flavors and the staff is very friendly and welcoming! Thank You!

A friendly #ThankYouThursday to Sarah's Handmade, still the best ice cream in the universe. My new favorite flavor is Burgundy Cherry - soft, creamy and delicious! They've done it again, and this is why I keep coming back over and over again. It's tasty, it's local and it's fun! Can't wait to try another flavor soon! Until then, another pint of Burgundy Cherry please!

It's never too cold for some of Sarah's smooth handmade ice cream. A cold winter day couldn't stop me from getting a scoop of their delicious seasonal offerings. I called ahead of time just to hear what was available and they happily let me know the various options - kudos to the consistent pleasant customer service. I had to stop her from telling me all of them because everything sounded so good and I got an idea of what I wanted to mix after the first six flavors I heard. I went for a scoop of the salted caramel oatmeal ice cream and a scoop of their apple crumble ice cream and wow. The ice cream is so fresh. There was apple skin in the scoop and chunks of oatmeal in the other. It came together and made the perfect seasonal treat. I love how creamy the ice cream is and it's never toothache sweet. They offer so many flavors. I was introduced to this location through a Yelp Elite event and I've made sure to pop in here and there every since.

Lots of options, original and tasty! We picked up an ice cream cake (Oreo Lovers) and the family just could not resist. The service was friendly and very helpful and tended to all my kids requests. It's a fun little spot to sit, chat, and enjoy a little ice cream! We ordered the ice cream cake same day and was ready within a couple hours...even with custom writing! The Oreo lovers is one that is always in stock, so if you want another flavor, it would be about a 2-working day turnaround. Seating was limited indoors but there are a few tables outside. Parking was plentiful as it is shared lot with other businesses within the center. We will be back as there are many options we just try. Enjoy!

Wow! Really great ingredients, really great flavors, really yummy! My dogs mind was BLOWN when I gave him a pup cup!! I will definitely come back here despite it being 20 minutes away. My favorite ice cream shop for sure!

Delicious ice cream with 20+ flavors many I've never seen before. The quality is top-notch like a creamery as the ice cream doesn't melt right away. While the shop doesn't give out samples due to Covid, you can get a split scoop. I was torn between 2 flavors and glad I got the split scoop! The Cookies and Cream is hands-down my favorite and bursting with flavor from chunks of Oreos as the base rather than Vanilla ice cream. The Coffee Oreo is unique has a bold coffee flavor with large chunks of Oreos and tastes like a Mocha. The split scoop was perfect, the 2 flavors paired really well together. I was tempted to get chocolatey Brownie flavor and Party Cake - next time! Note there are no waffle cones or toppings. As the ice cream is so rich and delicious on its own filled with Oreos or sprinkles, you don't need to add extras - the simple cup is perfect. Love the new centralized location in Wildwood Shopping Plaza in Bethesda! The shop is next door to many restaurants, great spot to grab some dessert. Will def come back!

Definitely a 3.5 star in my opinion. The ice cream was good but the brownie and cookie was old and hard as a rock. Wont be coming back. They do have a ton of options and flavors which was nice but if they aren't freshly baked it's not for me.

I was underwhelmed by the ice cream I saw in the freezers. I was looking forward to trying the lavender honey or the lemon poppyseed, but was turned off by the vibrant yellow color of the lemon poppyseed and the strong purple color of the lavender honey. I bake, and when I make lemon poppyseed muffins from scratch using grated lemon rind, they are a subdued color of yellow. There weren't many pecans in the butter pecan. I settled on the Bethesda Brownie Brickle, because it won Best of Bethesda, but there was hardly any brownie in the scoop, and the ice cream was way too sweet. I live most of the year in Massachusetts, and the ice cream there is amazing, so that may explain why this ice cream shop has so many 5 star ratings. They just don't know any better.
