"Many will be familiar with the name of this Croydon branch of the popular chain, but it reliably delivers and is full most nights. Though not in Broad Green, this central Croydon restaurant is an easy walk, and has be to the list. Saravana Bhavan is a pure vegetarian restaurant, and is extremely popular with local Hindu and Jain communities. In fact, there is even a separate menu for Jains, whose observance means they don’t eat anything grown underground. Starters to consider are parotta, rava kichad/uppuma, sambar vada, medhu vada and chilli paneer. For mains, there is a great selection of dosas to pick from; masala dosa, rava masala dosa, mysore dosa or the kara dosa are all excellent. Pro tip: for those who really don’t like spicy food, ask the waiter to make the dishes mild." - Harkaran Gill

A decent authentic Indian place! Has all pretty much all the popular vegetarian dishes from south India and some north. A tiny bit expensive but worth it as it is not easy to get good authentic Indian food outside places like East ham and Southhall in London. Their filter coffee is the best! Must try. Ideal place for Indians or foreigners to treat themselves once in a while. Nothing is too spicy here for Indians but it should be a tiny bit more spicy for the British people.

This is a good place to bring vegetarians to (their meat dishes very good too). I've only encountered annoying vegetarians and so i steer well clear of vegans. I remember telling African children that lived in absolute poverty what being vegan meant and they didn't understand it.

Food was okay. Not the best south Indian food. I ordered vada and veg biryani. Vada was good and chutneys were yummy. Biryani in first sight actually looking like pulao. I still was like let's try it.. but there was no salt. I told them and they took it back.. I ordered ras malai and that was good. So in total not so great experience. I had better south Indian food in other places.

The usual Saravana bhavan ... good Indian food especially South Indian ..... tried dosas , idli , Vada all were good , North Indian thali was ok but the gulab jamun was awesome ... it was busy but the service was quick so overall good .... this one is also near to the east Croydon railway station ... like approx 7 min walk

Sarvana Bhavan is one of my favorite south indian restaurant chains. I cannot recommend this restaurant enough - they have an excellent variety of food and it is very authentic. My friend and I had their Mysore dosa and paratha with korma. It was really - it is mildly spicy but I really like that. It is also very reasonably priced and there is no service charge.

Very nice south indian vegetarian food. It was the first time we tried this restaurant and the staff were very friendly, the atmosphere was very quiet as people are still staying away from town centres and restaurants etc.

Out of all Saravana Bhavan's I tried in London, this one stands tall but shame they have consistently failed in service department. Located on busy George street, it is very easy to get past this place without really noticing the restaurant as it has really narrow opening and unappealing feeling from outside. I've been there lot of times with family/friends/alone and it never disappointed me in taste. Food is served with stainless steel plates which enhances the feeling of eating south indian food. You can watch Tamil/Hindi video songs played on big flat TV screen(often without any sound) and always occupied tables but I never had to wait to be seated though. Dosas in this places are must try, Idli, ghee pongal, Puri, North and South set meals never disappointed. But my all time favourite South Indian Filter coffee has always been Hit and Miss with either too much milk in it or not hot enough etc etc. I truly wish they hire or train the current staff to serve better!
