"Colourful drapes add a cheerful vibe while live performances of Indian instruments creates a vibrant ambiance. This restaurant in Little India serves authentic Northern Indian dishes, such as the must-order fish amritsari made with red snapper in a thick, spicy curry of balanced flavours. Dal makhani, or black lentil soup, is best enjoyed with an extra serving of plain chapati. Lastly, save room for gulab jamun that bursts with milky goodness." - Michelin Inspector

It was my first time having authentic Indian food in Penang. The dishes were full of rich spices, but not overwhelming — just the right balance. The pani puri were sweet and tangy, which really whetted the appetite. The garlic cheese naan was especially fragrant and delicious, and when paired with the butter chicken, it was simply irresistible — I couldn’t get enough!

Penang despite being renown for Indian cuisine, they are mostly South Indian especially Tamil. This is my 1st time in a Punjabi restaurant and I find the taste quite interesting. The butter chicken is creamy and the naan cheese bread are soft and done just right; not burnt. The vege has a very unique taste. Overall it is not spicy at all. Will be back for more.

Had a wonderful Punjabi’s meal over the week. Food: The Palak Paneer was very delicious. The highlight among all. Mutton Curry is great too as it is soft and flavourful. However the Nasi Bryani was abit too blend. Not enough spices. Overall we enjoyed it Service: It was okay. Waiter serve us well and explain to us on the food. Atmosphere: Cozy and quiet.

Delicious food and good service. No alcohol served. Get the Pani Puri appetizer. Totally fun and worth it!! Tandoori chicken was so flavorful. I really don't know what other reviews had a problem with. We had a very positive experience.

Great Biryani. I popped in on a Tuesday evening and it was relatively quiet but I didn't come for the atmosphere. I had the tandoori chicken biriani and it was excellent. Plenty more than I could eat (although I did polish off all the chicken). Food was beautifully presented and obviously individually prepared. The disk retained plenty of moisture and the chicken was well cooked. The soice came from the sauce under the rice and gave just enough of a kick so you knew you were eating Indian (albeit we are in Malaysia). Mango lassi also very good. Excellent value for money and very tasty.

I came here like most others due to the Michellin Guide rating. I ordered the Butter Chicken set. Here's my ratings per item. 9/10 Butter Chicken Curry : A plethora of different notes for spice and definitely unique compared to hundreds of butter chicken curries I've had throughout the world. This was a pleasant surprise and definitely was a good experience. I did notice holes in the chicken, maybe from being skewered. I thought maybe they had used tandoori chicken already cooked earlier throughout the day..? The flavor was not off however, or maybe the spices merely veiled this. I'm not necessarily dissatisfied as long as it was fresh. 7/10 Naan : The naan was also unique, with more than just garlic on top. Wasn't sure what else it was to be honest, some kind of spices? The flavor was great, but I personally found it not crispy enough. The bottom was a tiny charred, so I know it had been made traditionally, but it tasted a bit soggy. I fear maybe it was reheated. Overall, I did have a positive and unique experience. This means a lot, after having been through hundreds of restaurants eating their butter chicken curry set. I'm sure Sardaarji can do better if they just improved the freshness of their naan and the chicken inside their curries. It would have been a perfect meal, otherwise.

I forgot to take pictures of my food but it was clean and delicious with very good flavours; interesting and present but also slightly delicate. Honestly, go with a group and order loads of things (I had to do this solo). Make sure to get the chaye as well! Service is wonderful and love the team there and I wish I’d stayed to chat! I appreciate the music and how it’s upbeat but also not loud; you can talk to people easily here! Make sure to get takeaway and eat it later!
