"Colourful drapes add a cheerful vibe while live performances of Indian instruments creates a vibrant ambiance. This restaurant in Little India serves authentic Northern Indian dishes, such as the must-order fish amritsari made with red snapper in a thick, spicy curry of balanced flavours. Dal makhani, or black lentil soup, is best enjoyed with an extra serving of plain chapati. Lastly, save room for gulab jamun that bursts with milky goodness." - Michelin Inspector

It was my first time having authentic Indian food in Penang. The dishes were full of rich spices, but not overwhelming — just the right balance. The pani puri were sweet and tangy, which really whetted the appetite. The garlic cheese naan was especially fragrant and delicious, and when paired with the butter chicken, it was simply irresistible — I couldn’t get enough!

I recently visited the Michelin listed Indian restaurant hoping for a memorable meal, but unfortunately the experience fell short of expectations. Right off the bat the pricing felt steep — I ordered a butter chicken dish that cost RM 39.90, yet the portion turned out to be just about six to seven small cubes of chicken. For that price I expected more generous serving size. The service also left a lot to be desired. The waiter didn’t smile, made no recommendations, and seemed uninterested in engaging. It lacked the welcoming, attentive feel you hope for at a higher-end establishment. The ambiance didn’t redeem the situation, either. Although the space itself is large, the environment felt hot and stuffy. Only one small air-conditioning unit seemed to be running while the rest of the restaurant was warm and under-cooled. For the kind of pricing and reputation, I expected a more comfortable climate and a more polished atmosphere. Would I return? Probably not. The combination of high cost, underwhelming portion, poor service and uncomfortable setting simply doesn’t justify another visit.

when visiting Penang, don’t just go for nasi kandar, there are plenty of good food to try & this establishment is recommended & was recently awarded the 2025 Michelin Bib Gourmand. highly recommended here is the briyani rice, cooked to perfection & very tasty. best of all, it’s affordable.

Man.... This is really nice restaurant serving Indian/Punjabi food Accidentally found this place while looking my routes on gmaps and decided to eat here... And yes, my decision was right The best for me is their chicken butter and pani puri, but also we order palak paneer (spinach) and chicken biryani which taste good Overall this is one of best taste ever tried...

Had a wonderful Punjabi’s meal over the week. Food: The Palak Paneer was very delicious. The highlight among all. Mutton Curry is great too as it is soft and flavourful. However the Nasi Bryani was abit too blend. Not enough spices. Overall we enjoyed it Service: It was okay. Waiter serve us well and explain to us on the food. Atmosphere: Cozy and quiet.

Penang despite being renown for Indian cuisine, they are mostly South Indian especially Tamil. This is my 1st time in a Punjabi restaurant and I find the taste quite interesting. The butter chicken is creamy and the naan cheese bread are soft and done just right; not burnt. The vege has a very unique taste. Overall it is not spicy at all. Will be back for more.

I recently visited Sardaarji Restaurant, and it was an amazing dining experience! The moment I walked in, I was greeted with a warm Punjabi atmosphere, lively music, friendly staff, and a delicious aroma that made me instantly hungry. The food was outstanding especially the butter chicken, which was rich, creamy, and full of authentic North Indian flavours. The naan was soft and buttery, perfect for soaking up the gravy and the mango lassi was thick and refreshing. The portion sizes were generous and worth the price. The staff were polite, attentive, friendly and always ready to recommend their best dishes. The restaurant was clean, cozy, and had a great family-friendly vibe. Overall, Sardaarji Restaurant is a must-visit for anyone who loves authentic Punjabi food. I’d definitely come back again for more!
