"Sari, a mini-restaurant from the man behind Akasaru, serves Korean classics in the Zipper space once home to the recently closed Wares." - Brooke Jackson-Glidden

Sari Ramyun is a fantastic, small, locally owned business that servers almost authentic ramen. Great menu, lots of options, for vegetarians or meet eaters. Our kid even loves their food and there are not many places he will finish his plate, and this is definitely one of them.

Google
Great vegan options! Dishes are very flavorful and well spiced. Service is always quick and staff are kind. Located in the zipper which has a nice dining space and outdoor seating with fire pits available.

Google
So incredibly good! I ordered the spicy pork sandwich and the gochujang wings. They were both delicious, but the wings were my favorite. I can't wait to visit again next time I'm in Portland!

Kareem Alston-Rosales

Google
The chicken and kimchi blew us away! Crunchy, the right amount of spicy, juicy. We weren't looking for it but it found us. It's also in The Zipper, which is a great food court with lots of options and good drinks. They were really cool, highly recommend.

Enoc Garcia

Google
My wife and I eat gluten free and we found some good options. I ate the beef and rice bowl and she ate a tofu bowl. Highly recommended!

Simpin Sandreezy

Google
Asian fusion for sure. Besides the kimchi nothing seemed authentic. The rice comes seasoned which isn't listed anywhere on the menu. It's light purple with sesame oil. Their winter jjigae special was.... so thick it was like on was eating a Chinese BBQ flavor noodle dish. There was no soup to it all I'm sure for people that like gentrified flavors will like this place but man yikes.

Google
Very good, will be back again. Was on the fence between their signature bowl and a special that sounded good and the owner suggested the special saying it was his personal favorite thing he's made for the restaurant. It was incredible. This place is legit.

First time trying and I’m happily surprised! Great good and excellent price. Recently take-outs have been kinda boring and less than good, but this was great! Our fav was the spicy pork, fried chicken and the kimchi jjigae!

Yelp
permanently closed, signage as of 5/24/2024 really looked forward to trying the place "Dear Sari Ramyun family and friends We're heartbroken to share that Sari Ramyun has permanently closed its doors. Over the past five years, your support has filled our space with warmth and community, making every moment special. Recent challenges, from the pandemic to rising costs, have made it too difficult to continue. We tried everything to keep our dream alive, but it's time to say goodbye. While we say goodbye, we're also excited to share that a new chapter will begin in this beloved space. Trinh, a wonderful chef with a passion for Vietnamese cuisine, will be taking over to bring new flavors and experiences to the Zipper. Thank you for everything. We hope you continue to find joy and delicious meals here with Trinh. With heartfelt thanks and worm wishes,"

Yelp
I've reviewed this place before and even had it as one of my favorites in Portland but having been here recently, it's gone downhill dramatically. Not sure if it's new management or what, but the amazing, large, perfectly tender drumsticks that used to be apart of the KFC + curry order has been replaced with tough and chewy chicken nuggets. They also removed the fried egg which paired with the curry and chicken beautifully. Even more so, the man up front acted as if none of that had ever existed and even seemed perturbed about it. (Maybe because we had shown up 30 minutes before closing but deal with it). The food still has great flavor but it's sad knowing what it used to be and what it has turned into. The quality was top-tier and now has become depressing.

Naly S.

Yelp
Can be found next to a bunch of other eateries, with communal park bench seating. So the atmosphere is pretty lively. Parking is street parking but you'll find that you need to park pretty far and walk. Service was pretty fast. Great selection of things to choose from. Food was great!! I was NOT expecting huge chicken drumsticks while ordering. Giant portions and great pricing their kimchi though.. SOO good. Perfect crunch and fermentation. But they gave so little of it which was a bummer :( Chicken is perfectly crispy and flavorful. We also got a rose tteokboki. The udon noodles were an interesting touch. I wish the seasoning came out a little more umami, it was more cheese heavy. But wasn't a deal breaker. Would stop by again to try their other items.

Alana C.

Yelp
Found out Sari is in a location where there are several other eateries next to one another with a communal eating area and there's also a bar. How cool and convenient. There is also outside seating with corn hole and fire pits. Food was great. The udon noodles were thick and bouncy. The mala sauce was only medium spicy in my opinion but it flavored the broth well. Dumplings were tasty too, if I had to nitpick, I'd say the filling was just a tad on the tough side. I really liked the hard seltzer. I chose melon but there was also yuzu flavor & lychee. It was creamy tasting, light and very refreshing against the spicy food. Fast friendly and clean, we will be back!

Yelp
My daughter was craving their Bulgogi rice. It was tasty, with plenty of bulgogi beef! Very highly recommended!

Victoria L.

Yelp
Little place tucked away inside The Zipper off Sandy. You can grab drinks from Pay dirt and eat at a variety of places. This place stuck out with their amazing big plates and beautiful presentation! Have to start working my way through the menu! Was very satisfied with my meal and my friend loved her dish as well. Service was quick and cashier was pleasant!

Yelp
Stop by to try out some KFC (Korean Fried Chicken). Ended up ordering their KFC + Curry combo. It was the perfect pairing. The fried chicken was fried to perfection and the gochijang sauce was perfectly blended into each bite of the chicken. The curry rice, and vinegar radish also provides a great mix of flavor. Service was counter order and find a spot in the cafeteria. They were friendly and provided recommendation if requested. Definitely will come back to try their ramyun.

Mia G.

Yelp
Delicious vegan ramen aka their TOFU DWEN-JANG RAMYUN! :) Last time we dined in, there was no water available + they forgot my drink. And every table was either dirty or full. But the staff is friendly + the ramen was goood :) You definitely get your monies worth! And in great location, the Zipper, where there's indoor + outdoor dining. Living nearby, I have gone during the summer, and the outdoor area is perfect for groups.

Kelvin Y.

Yelp
Korean Ramen place which also serves Bim Bim Bap. Located at the Zipper - cool location with several food businesses. Good fusion style food in a nice communal setting.

Sara W.

Yelp
The place is in a food mall, casual cool vibe. I recommend the korean fried chicken. The wings are huge so don't be shocked with the 3 piece wing side. The ramen is the second favorite and bulgoli rice is last place.

George B.

Yelp
What the hell happened to this place? THEY DON'T HAVE RAMEN/RAMYUN ANYMORE. Why would you delete the best things on the menu? And they don't sell bibimbap anymore either. Disappointed, I ordered the spicy red bokki because THERE'S NO RAMEN. THE BOKKI The fish cake was cut into thin strips which tasted like nothing. Just chewy food matter. Sauce tasted like spicy ketchup, and way too much of it. The kimchi was missing in action, or invisible. The dish is topped with grated colby cheese. I'm not an expert, but is Korean noodle supposed to have texmex cheese on it? The hard-boiled egg was cold and gross. The entire dish was covered with cold chopped cabbage. And it was just warm. The noodles were okay, and I was starving so I ate about half of it. My GF had a rice dish which she said was okay, but nothing like as good as the bibimbap she had before. Perhaps there's a new owner? Anyway, the online menu, still up on their website, says they have ramyun and other dishes they no longer sell. This was the go-to place at the Zipper. No more. And change your name! It's literally Sari, No Ramyun!

Sophia L.

Yelp
Out of all the spots in the Zipper, Sari is probably my favorite. The mandoo are some of the best fried dumplings I've tried in Portland, and both the bulgogi rice and udon were a great portion for the amount we got. The only reason I gave it 4 stars was the service. My boyfriend ordered a beer from them, and at first it looked like the person was going to say no before he offered his ID to them. After they checked his ID, the person taking our order rolled his eyes at us before putting it in. Just a little bit strange, but won't deter me from the food.

Paul K.

Yelp
Sari. Sorry. Wait. I'm not sorry. I must be honest. I had the spicy pork bowl and the bibimbap with tofu. If you judge me for eating two items on the menu, I am not offended. I give you permission to do so : ) First, the spicy pork bowl. I found the meat and rice combo to be a solid okay. Nothing exciting, and at the same time nothing terrible. In this way, the rice was a bit dry. The pork was able to bring some moisture. The other fermented item, I forget what it was called helped bring some flavor as well, but it wasn't anything special to make my taste buds dance. The bibimbap was probably 75% authentic. As a Korean-American, I have had bibimbap from Korea, home, korean church, etc. So, in terms of Ethos, I think I have some voice in this area. It was mostly accurate in terms of the vegetables. Now, in this way, I thought the mixture of food items in this dish was missing something...maybe sesame oil? Maybe some original vegetables. Based on the arrangement given, I thought it was just okay. It nourished my famished body, but it did not wow me. Bottom line: Feel free to come through. It's not terrible. So if you are in the mood for korean food, you should check it out. Personally, I'm not sure if I would go the extra mile. I might come back to see if I was wrong.

Yelp
Sari is restaurant tucked inside The Zipper plaza. There is no dedicated parking lot so it is only street parking, but generally it is not hard to find! The portion sizes at this place is unbelievable GINORMOUS!!! For 2 females and 1 male, we ordered the #16 Sari not Sorry combo which includes: 8 piece KFC chicken (garlic soy and gochujang), 10 pieces of mandoo and 1 order of kimchi, 1 side order of rice and 1 side order of jojo. We were all stuffed AND had leftovers at the end!!! If you like the traditional Korean style wings, then you should probably go somewhere else. The drumsticks served here are GIGANTIC, but the meat lacks flavor due to the size. The taste is only from the sauce on the outside. I prefer smaller wings and drumsticks since there is generally more flavor. Overall, you should give this place a try if you are not too picky!

Carter S.

Yelp
Perfect for big parties or for a quick bite to eat. Came in on a quiet afternoon snd food came almost instantly after ordering. Plenty of noodles, meats, and toppings for 14 dollars and service was excellent. The tables are in a big shared area along with an outside seating with a fireplace.

Ploy N.

Yelp
Came for the Ramyun but stayed for the Fried Chicken! Generous chicken thighs coated with flavorful, crunchy batter, their KFC was quite phenomenal. The meat was juicy and the Soy Garlic sauce was nice; not overly sweet or salty. Their Chicken Dwe-Jang Ramyun, on the other hand, was very mediocre and on the verge of being disappointing. It looked delicious but absolutely no flavor from the broth or the gochujang sauce. A very clumsy dish. The only nice things about this dish were the tender noodles and well-cooked soft-boiled egg. Definitely skip the noodles and go for the chicken. Their rice dishes look good too like the curry plates that come with fried chicken so would like to try them at some point. Good price, casual service. It's located in a food court with a bunch of other vendors like Boxcar Pizza and Basilik. A fun place to hangout and grab food, overall.

Alex K.

Yelp
Delicious food and great service. The flavors meld together well in your mouth. Ample serving size and great menu with plenty of options for veg and non-veg. Also, jojos with bibimbap. Just wow. I'd come here again.

Destiney C.

Yelp
Sari is a local Korean restaurant located on NE Sandy in the Zipper lot with a few other restaurants. There is street parking available and they do take pick up orders or Uber Eats has it to be delivered. I looked up the menu online and picked it up. I ordered the Chicken Dwen-Jang when is a raymun dish with a mushroom broth. The broth it self wasn't too salty which was nice but was missing something in flavor. The chicken was nice and tender though and the veggies tasted nice and fresh and cooked aldente. The egg was a soft boil and also perfect. Noodles were my favorite part, I was craving ramen and they did a great job. I also ordered some Mango Basil Lemonade to take some and it had a sparkling flavor like soda, but it tasted great. Portions seemed to be big and I loved that they put the broth on the side for my take out order.

Natalie H.

Yelp
Went to The Zipper for the first time and ordered from Säri. I got the KFC curry with garlic soy sauce, and it was delicious! The portion was huge, leaving me satisfied and with another ample portion for leftovers tomorrow. Definitely want to come back and try other menu items! Disclaimer that parking near here is rough. I ended up parking on a side street on the opposite side of Sandy. Not a big deal but just be prepared for a bit of a struggle to find a spot.

Sarah H.

Yelp
I came in out of the snowpocalyptic fruzengladje looking for a snack. Hmmm tofu bibimbap...yes! Oh. My. God. Not only was it delicious but so much food! crikey! I had left overs for 2 additional meals. Also, very nice staff!

Prima B.

Yelp
Went back to try their ramen again hoping that the last cold ramen I had was just a fluke. It was consistently flavorful but consistently cold too. The soup was just on the warm side. I just took it home so I can reheat it. I won't be coming back for ramen. Temperature is the key too to a good soup. Hopefully they rethink their process to make it hot.

Mike R.

Yelp
These are the wings I've been looking for! I wasn't super hungry so I just went for the 5 wings. They were more than enough! I got the spicy and loved everything about them. Good amount of breading with the perfect mix of flavor and spice. I traded one wing with a friend to try the garlic wing and prefer the spicy over the garlic. Others in our party got the ramen and loved it as well. No one could finish their meal!

D M.

Yelp
I work close by and order pick up pretty frequently. Everything I've tried has been AMAZING. I absolutely love this place, everything is fresh, super tasty, and is always ready really quickly. Can't recommend them enough!

Maya K.

Yelp
Ordered this on doordash and man was it a good choice! Got bibimbap and spicy korean fried chicken. The portions were amazing-- the chicken itself could've been an entree in it of itself! It was crispy and the garlic sauce was bomb afffffff. The banchan in the bibimbap were great and I love that they make their own gochujang!! I'll definitely be trying more of their menu, especially their ramen!

Andrew A.

Yelp
I can look past them not answering the phone after 15 rings or opening the bag and finding a dish I didn't order (but was charged for.) But staff NOT wearing masks during a pandemic just soured me on the place. I hope one outcome of COVID is enhanced food safety measures for restaurants and carts. I gravitated towards the least expensive entree: bulgogi, rice, pickles and greens. The simple combination satisfied and a decent portion too. The mango lemonade was refreshing and at a fair price. Service was supeer Parking absolutely sucks around this venue.

Alexa M.

Yelp
I have heard nothing but good things about this place and really wanted to like it. I was told that this is one of the top 5 places for bomb ramen in Portland. My ramen was not good, it seemed like it was lacking something I couldn't pinpoint what it was. I also had the KFC which was good, this was the only thing that saved my meal, but overall, this was the most mediocre ramen I have had.

Michael S.

Yelp
So Sari to tell ya the truth, but we found the Korean Fried Chicken woefully lacking in spice and quality. There are two flavors: Garlic Soy and Gochu-jang Chili. We tried both. Neither brought excitement or much zest. I ranked the garlic soy as the better of the two; however, my better half wouldn't rank either of them. The Zipper is where you'll find Sari as one of the busy indoor food stalls serving the popular outdoor / indoor dining area. When I go back, I'll have to try the Korean-style ramen with mushroom broth or the Ribeye Bulgogi Bibimbap.

Suzanne C.

Yelp
Fantastic food and both the host/server and owner were extremely helpful and went above and beyond.

Jen M.

Yelp
Best thing I have eaten in ages! First time here last week and I had the Jigae special with noodles which I hope is a permanent fixture. Soooo good and spicy. Yum!

Davvy L.

Yelp
Soy garlic KFC (Korean Fried Chicken) is bomb! Can't go wrong with the Bulgogi rice bowl with caramelized onions either! Comes with pickled radish to balance the grease.

Troy D.

Yelp
Very good food. A nice twist on Korean fusion. Was not super authentic but was still very good.

Alex V.

Yelp
Kimchi wasn't good, it was covered in sesame oil which made it super heavy. Dumplings were alright but just tasted store bought.

Chase M.

Yelp
What can I say about sorry... i mean sari... ok, well i only stole left overs for this establishment. I also want to say that this would not be something that I would normally order... When it comes to Ramen I am all about that gluten baby... I was eating next-door where my fun free... I mean gluten-free girlfriend was eating here... The good thing about the zipper is it's indoors and share the common area where you can get about four different restaurant items and all eat together and drink together. Now it's hard to give an honest review when is something I normally wouldn't order but combining my thoughts with hers we were quite happy with what you got for the price and the accommodation this place had something for everybody whether it be vegan vegetarian gluten-free or people that like having fun like myself. Food sizes were good not quite as big as a normal massive Ramen bowl normally would be things are priced on the higher end and I think that it is a strong four-star. I will say there were a lot of intriguing things on the menu that I thought would've been a lot of fun so very well could've been a five star depending on what you order but I think as it stands based off the ingredients and broth it sits at a 4

Samantha R.

Yelp
Came for the ramen. Staying for it. Idk what else to say besides, probably just go?! Ramen is so tasty and (massive bonus) without making me feel oddly full. The broth and ingredients are so clean it's refreshing. Great taste and consistency. I should mention I did take out. So I did reheat at home. The one improvement could be soft boiled egg, which was more of a hard boiled egg. But I honestly forgot after 3 bites

Brad W.

Yelp
Absolutely fantastic fried chicken curry. Really tasty spicy sauce thrown on. With rice and curry and a fried egg on the side. I will definitely be back!

Roman S.

Yelp
Fairly straightforward menu meets you at Sari. Choose between ramen (vegeterain option IS available) and some bowls. Also, served up is some korean fried chicken and a couple of other appetizers. I tried the ramen. It was a medium sized portion. Not too big but acceptable size. The Korean version was less salty than a Japanese one and personally I prefer less salty. Egg was cooked well. Their house made punch is pretty good. Now, I am going to scold them a little. They probably give Korean aunties a shock that they charge $4 for a very small plate of kimchi that most Korean places offer complimentary in the first place.

Jay N.

Yelp
These guys used to make THE BEST bibimbap in town. For some reason they took it off the menu and won't make it for me anymore. It's the only thing I get there. Please bring the bibimbap back

Tony A.

Yelp
Promising new Korean ramyun stall now part of the Zipper. My partner and I started out with the excellent mandu dumplings -- deep-fried bite-sized pockets of beef, pork, and cabbage in a vinegar soy sauce. Our bowl of sari ramyun (chicken and beef broth, brisket, seaweed, scallion, sprouts, egg) was somewhat less impressive, a bit flat and tasteless, making us think we should have gone with the spicy version. But the perfectly prepared gochu-jang glazed fried chicken wings were an absolute delight -- crispy on the outside and moist on the inside, making them the meal's star. My partner did find the gochu-jang glaze a bit too ketchupy and said that on our next visit we should try the wings with garlic soy sauce. Still, the Korean fried wings are not to be missed. While I opted for a StormBreakers IPA my partner enjoyed a glass of Sari's mango basil lemonade, a drink she said nicely complemented the rest of our meal. The Zipper is an inviting place, and Sari's menu certainly warrants repeat visits. Fast, friendly service. Best of all, really good food.

Cera O.

Yelp
I wish this place was closer to my house because I would go here for my Korean chicken fix every day. Probably not the best for my diet but priorities. I was born and raised in Korea and I would say this place is on par with any decent restaurant you'd randomly walk into in the streets of Korea. The food tastes great and tastes authentic. There was no weird twist. Portions are great. They stick to few plates on the menu and they do them well. I'm one happy customer. Please move closer to me.

Charlie T.

Yelp
Came here recently for ramen and the fried chicken as we were close in the area. The Spicy Sari Ramen was ok as I felt that the broth could have more flavor and my egg was overcooked. The noodles used were delicious. The Korean Fried Chicken had a nice crunchy and color to it. The sauce was a bit thin and runny (not what I'm used to). I believe they are still in the newer stages as they have just recently open and will make the necessary adjustments. I'll probably come back here later on and try some of the other items.

Kay K.

Yelp
I met a friend for lunch at the Zipper undecided about which restaurant to choose, but quickly settled on SARI, despite having chosen and loved Basilisk on my previous visit. The food appeared most similar to what I want to be eating everyday - whole foods elevated using simple techniques, rather than excess salt, sugar, oil; and presented beautifully. IMO the majority of fare in Portland food courts and cart pods (including this one) is over-the-top and/or gimmicky, dishes to try once to say that you did, but too rich, If others agree with me, SARI definitely has staying power. Their range of dishes spans the range of seasonal and mood-based preferences of the average diner, including hot soup, cold salad, and bibimbap somewhere in the middle. The rice bowl that I chose was not a good representation of SARI's full flavor profile. It lacked freshness, crunch, and acidity, which made me very thirsty. Like a previous reviewer, I was tempted by the price, and would probably get it again for that reason - plus a side of kimchi! That's really all it was missing. Still, the overall flavor was more Americanized than I like, as compared to the restaurants of Beaverton and 82nd. But, I'll blame food court culture for that. I'd like to see them embrace their true heat!

sunday m.

Yelp
the rosé bokki noodles sounded too good to be true- should have known they would be. 'fishcakes and cheese' made me think i would be getting at least a topokki-adjacent experience, but the fishcakes are... thin sliced and deep fried, for some reason??? leading to a dearth of fish cake flavor and a weirdly cardboardy texture and taste. like stale french fries or breakfast cereal mixed into your noodles. which were overcooked and had no chewiness. the sauce was somehow too watery and too spicy at the same time, and tasted like it could have come from a pack of instant ramyun. [samyang buldak carbonara, to be specific.] topped with a massive handful of shredded raw cabbage on top of the whole thing, which really could not go worse with the aforementioned rubbery, bubbly fish cake strands and soggy, sauce-resistant noodles. i'm a little baffled, to be honest. the mandu were the best part, but gave no indication that they weren't store bought. very very sad, considering it seems like ordering Literally Anything Else on the menu would have gone better for me.

Eli G.

Yelp
Bulgogi sandwich heroics. Amazing start to finish! Fast, easy, great flavor and texture. Thanks!

Evan C.

Yelp
Wow, it was all good. We ordered the Sari not Sorry for two and could not eat it all. Chicken was flavorful and plentiful. Service was cheerful and the daikon and kimchi were both highlights. Oh. And it was cheap!

Tiffany K.

Yelp
Everything is SO salty - especially the fried chicken. Heavily battered and drenched in sauce that I could not even taste the chicken itself. Literally could not finish the food. The ramyun had little to no soup - overpowered with the seaweed, tofu and noodles.

Shelby C.

Yelp
Portions were huge!! Food was dank! Best jojo's I've ever had. Curry was delicious. Fried chicken was crispy AF and they gave me an extra piece. Just go there!

V S.

Yelp
The tofu Bibimbab is great, and the portion is very generous. If there is a fried mushroom special, get it! Large mushrooms with a light batter are fried to a crisp, and served with a mildly spicy mayo.

Mandy R.

Yelp
Amazingly delicious food and at a more than reasonable price! The fried chicken is a crowd pleaser, you can pick their garlic or spicy sauce-they're both phenomenal. I love their ramyun when I'm in the mood for a comforting meal. Friendly service all the time. A must whenever I'm having a drink at Paydirt right next door.

Jee Young K.

Yelp
Tried Gochujang base sauce. This was very authentic KFC. Crispy out side and juicy inside. The sauce was perfect!!! very good with korean beer !chi mac
