"Frank Sarris started the Sarris Candies Company in his basement in 1960. Today, its factory in Canonsburg, Pennsylvania, still makes regionally beloved chocolates. Along with its boxed assortments and chocolate-covered pretzels, the Sarris factory is also famous for another treat: a 1,500-pound chocolate castle. The detailed, colorful castle gets rebuilt a few times each year, with seasonal themes. The entire confection is edible, right down to the mini carousel. If viewing the beautiful confection—or one of the other chocolate sculptures occasionally on display—whets your appetite, the factory has an adjacent candy store. In the 1980s, Sarris expanded the candy store to include an old-fashioned ice cream parlor serving sundaes and floats. In addition to hot fudge and strawberries, the shop also uses its own candy to top its sundaes. After a server pours melted milk or dark chocolate over the cold ice cream, it cools into a hard cap on top." - ATLAS_OBSCURA

I am a lover of all things Chocolate, especially gourmet chocolate. So, it was recommended that I visit Sarris Candies in Canonsburg, PA. The drive here wasn’t bad at all & it was very easy to find. To say this place is popular is an understatement, it was pretty busy for sure. It felt like a real world Willy Wonks chocolate factory inside. The showrooms were just stunning, life size stuffed animals adorned the various displays. Every chocolate, sweets, candies & ice cream you could ever want or think of was available to you. The hand painted murals were absolutely beautiful. There is even a chocolate factory display made completely of CHOCOLATE!!! I them made my way to the ice cream parlor to get a mint chip waffle cone. I was able to enjoy it outside on one of the many concrete table/benches in front of the store. I soon returned to the inside of the store to buy some chocolates to enjoy later. This place is just simply amazing, it really brought the kid out in me. I could have spent all day walking around the place. I took a lot of photos, but it truly doesn’t do it justice. I encourage you to plan a day trip here, I promise you, you will not be disappointed!

Google
Hands down a must do. Maybe not on the weekend before the chocolate religion holiday if Easter. But definitely visit this place if you’re in the area. Candy of all kinds. Just not chocolate Easter bunnies. Even though they had $165 ones! Fun times. Great ice cream. The chocolate / peanut butter covered pretzels and pectin jelly beans are pretty 🔥 too!

Google

HIGHLY RECOMMEND! 👍 🍦

Google
Amazing chocolate, sugary, or ice cream treats. Best in Pittsburgh, maybe even best in Pennsylvania!! Start with the chocolate covered pretzels, then go for some chocolate covered marshmallows, and finish with their ice cream!! This is a must visit experience!!

Google
Sarris Candies in Canonsburg is an awesome candy and sweets experience. It’s been there for a couple generations, now, creating delectable and irresistible confections… The chocolate created here is considered to be the tastiest in the world by many. Their ice cream is delicious. There are many cool seasonal items, as well. A must visit.

Google
Grew up with Sarris and still order and go when I am in the area. Beautiful chocolate sculptures for each holiday in their store. I love their pretzels and Truffles very creamy and delicious. It's a must try.

Google
Sugar heaven. For every kind of sweet tooth, this store has a fix! Interesting displays, lots of variety. It's very pricey but for a treat, you can't beat it!

Google
Awesome Pittsburgh area Candy company! They make their own candy. Products have been outstanding for many years. I was here because my mother needed favors for a private party. While here, we went to the Ice Cream shop. The ice cream tastes excellent. My mother ordered a cone too and she said it was the best chocolate chip ice cream she has tried. All in all a fun excursion only 20 minutes from downtown Pittsburgh. I would totally recommend this place!

Sandra H.

Yelp
The pictures say it all! Busy, busy place with an ice cream. The array of candies is beyond belief! Friendly, knowledgeable staff. Free parking across the street.

Jenn G.

Yelp
I recommend the ice cream shop here. Get the HARD CAP shell! It comes in milk chocolate hard cap, dark chocolate hard cap, or peanut butter hard cap. The mudslide (or was it mud pie flavored ice cream?) was very good. It was like a coffee with Oreos in it. Get ready for it to be packed if you come around a holiday. People drive very aggressively in the free private parking lot when it's busy. We went on a Wednesday evening before Easter, and it was filled with so many modeled shapes of chocolate. The holiday themed candies are definitely more expensive than just the standard bars which are perfectly wonderful! I knew not to spend all my money here because my coworkers told me they drop $200 whenever they go there. Luckily my date and I only paid $70 for everything we wanted, which still felt like a lot. I was very impressed. Everyone that worked there was friendly but did look like they came out of a catalogue for blonde white girls that are always wearing a cross around their neck. Amusing to observe the theists running their very popular business. There's seating outside as well as inside to enjoy your ice cream at.

Yelp
Love the vibe of Sarris Candies - over the top candy store! Every type of chocolate candy you could imagine and more. There are so many options and the walls are lined floor to ceiling! I went during the Holidays & it was decorated with all different decor and gift options. I didn't even know they made sugar free chocolate covered pretzels so that was exciting to see! The ice cream line was long but the service was quick, friendly and efficient. I can't imagine how busy they get in the summer lol! My ice cream was delish! I'm an avid ice cream lover and this was some of the best I've ever had. I got the Peanut Butter Cookie Dough. The wafer was a nice touch! I've heard that you must get the Hard Cap so I'll have to try that next time. I even took my ice cream to go to eat at home and it was still the perfect consistency.

Michael D.

Yelp
First trip to the ice cream side of the building. Wow! We walked the store and found ourselves in the ice cream section of the store. So we ordered the sundae and fair warning it was enough for 3 people. We choose 3 different ice creams and three different toppings. If you are looking for a special sundae go to Sarris.

Elle B.

Yelp
Winter Wonderland! Real life Candyland! Willy Wonka! The best chocolate hands down! Had to treat myself to a scoop with their famous hard cap on top, dark chocolate of course! Delicious This place makes me feel like a kid again, reminiscent from visits to grandparents. Still the same vibe Candy lover's dream! Go get you some! That's all YELPies! Enjoy!

Victoria K.

Yelp
This ice cream and candy parlor were so much fun! I took the kiddo here when we came back through Pittsburgh on the way home from picking her up from college. The service was quick and friendly and the shop was like being a kid again. You certainly get your money's worth here. What a fun experience.

Yelp
It has been a long time since I visited Sarris candies so I wanted to check the place out after it had been rebuilt following a fire some years back. The place is just as I remembered with an ice cream and soda parlor at one end complete with a pay organ. The center section is loaded with holiday decorations for sale and for Christmas-a large Christmas castle made out of chocolate that took 3 months to build! Stuffed animals abound throughout the store. They have candy to suit your every craving. Need a personalized box? Then go to their fresh loose candy and have a box made up to your size and liking. Pricing is based on weight. The far right of the store has chocolate covered pretzels, bash cakes, chocolate covered oreos, mugs filled with chocolate bars, and holiday themed shaped chocolates in both dark and milk chocolate. I'm a dark chocolate fan so I couldn't resist getting the dark chocolate Christmas tree. So good! I also got a box of dark chocolates which included truffles, chocolate covered angels, chocolate covered pecans, and cordial cherries. Sarris also has vegan chocolates as well as diabetic candy. Some of their ornate boxes are so lovely to look at but indeed come with a hefty price tag. It's so pretty but since it is candy you are paying for the looks and presentation. Sarris also does fund raising and you can find some of their merchandise in grocery stores as well as specialty stores. It's a Pittsburgh special but for quality candy expect to pay more. Still it is worth a visit just to see how it is decked out for the holidays as well as their lavish castle display. Located in Canonsburg, PA parking is across the street from their building.

Yelp
LOVE Sarris. There chocolate covered pretzels have been my favorite for years so I was excited to actually check out their store. The store is a very cute and colorful candy land. The real attraction is the ice cream parkour that is attached. They have lots of flavors and different sundae options. My favorite is to get the chocolate or peanut butter hard top, like a chocolate sauce that hardens over the ice cream and is delicious. The portions are MASSIVE and also have lots of fun sundae options. Definitely worth the drive

Yelp
Sarris has been on our list for quite awhile but living north of the city didn't seem to warrant the drive. We were driving back into town and I remembered Sarris when I saw the cannonsburg exit. We quickly put it up on maps and when we saw it was 3 minutes away, we went! It was really busy for Father's Day (maybe it's always this busy?) but the line went quickly! They gave my husband a little complimentary four pack of chocolates for Father's Day too! We shared a sundae that was MASSIVE! We had no clue it was going to be so big, couldn't even finish it. Haha! We got black raspberry, deep dish apple and chocolate almond fudge topped with whipped cream and hot fudge. All of them were so good! The interior was so fun! A very "busy" look, but also so detailed in a fun way. Loved the ice cream themed benches too! I stepped into the store side (with no intentions to buy anything) and I couldn't believe how many different variations of the chocolate they had. It was overwhelming, in a good way. Really enjoyed our visit. Quite the experience!

Yelp
Sarris Candies is a local company that was founded several decades ago. Today, Sarris Candies sells products such as boxed chocolates, chocolate bars, jelly beans, nuts, chocolate-covered pretzels and chips, etcetera. In addition, this particular location has an on-site ice cream parlor. My husband and I have previously purchased Sarris Candies from other stores for years, but yesterday was our first time visiting this store. How fancy the store looked with its interior design! Decorations for ice cream, a candy castle and merry-go-round, etcetera! At the ice cream parlor, we bought a root-beer float and a banana-split sundae. The sizes were large, and we greatly enjoyed the flavors of the sweet ingredients. In the candy section, I bought a box of assorted chocolates. At home, the chocolates tasted delicious, and I ate the entire box in less than one day! I highly recommend visiting this store if you are in the area.

Yelp
There is a reason this place is famous, y'all! Some of the best chocolate and candies. Love their homemade ice cream, especially with the peanut butter hard cap! Ice cream portions are ginormous! Seriously, only order one scoop, it's more than enough! You truly can't go wrong with anything here. My favorites are the chocolate covered oreos and the turtles. I do think the ice cream parlor staff could be trained better. It is primarily all high schoolers, which is understandable for an ice cream shop. The ordering process can be confusing, especially if it's busy in the parlor (which it typically is). I often find that you have to repeat your order 2, 3, even 4 times, and sometimes it still doesn't come out right. I'm not blaming the young kids at all, I do think that management could do a better job of training them to interact with customers and resolve issues. Patience is key!

Yelp
The ice cream cake i purchased for my nephew's birthday was amazing everyone loved it. The decorator did a great job! My nephew loved the snake mountain with the chocolate snake. It was very popular all the kids cleaned their plates and fought over who got what part of the chocolate snake.

Honor K.

Yelp
We love Sarris Candies! We go every time we're in PA for our family reunion. My dad grew up coming here and takes pride in sharing this beautiful space with us. The staff is excellent and very attentive. Service is quick and easy!

Lorren P.

Yelp
My all time favorite candy shop and ice cream parkour. I've been coming here since I was a child. I absolutely love that it is a family owned company. There is a wonderful candy shop where you can find everything chocolate- it's amazing when you walk through and see all the different chocolate items. Our favorite is the chocolate covered pretzels! As you walk through the store make sure to check out the chocolate castle. It's amazing! The craftsmanship makes you just stop and say "wow!" Finally, after you have stocked up on your candy (did you know they also do fundraisers?) make sure you hit the ice cream parlor and get a yourself some ice cream. They have so many options to choose from, from cups to cones you won't be disappointed.

Brad B.

Yelp
Hands down, best chocolate on earth. Best Ice Cream in America. Great working staff, too. It's impossible to not love this place.

Rachel M.

Yelp
AMAZING local ice cream and candy shop! Delicious ice cream and toppings (especially the peanut butter hard cap), and such cute old timey ice cream parlor decor! The line for ice cream gets long, but it's always worth it and there's plenty of covered seating outside if you aren't able to get a seat inside. The candy is also great. The giant chocolate castle is a sight to behold. They have any kind of chocolate you want! Lots of unique shapes and flavors. I go here all the time and would recommended anyone to stop by!

Spencer S.

Yelp
Stopped in today while driving through Canonsburg on my way back to Pittsburgh. I mostly just wanted to get home, so when my wife suggested stopping in I begrudgingly agreed. I wasn't too optimistic when I saw how long the line was and that there wasn't any parking except for in the back. However, I was pleasantly surprised when I walked into the ice cream parlour side that the line, while long, moved quick! There was also plenty of outdoor seating once we had received our order which made for a relaxing experience. My wife, son and I shared one of the Big Tyme Ice Cream bowls which comes with three scoops of ice cream, a topping of your choice, whipped cream, and a cherry. I was blown away by how much ice cream and hot fudge we received for $8.00! In fact, the three of us found that it was even more food than we bargained for and we couldn't get through it all before we continued our homeward trek. I really liked the chocolate almond and apple pie ice creams that we ordered, and my son and wife really liked the black raspberry. This place is definitely a winner!

Scott L.

Yelp
Stopped here yesterday evening after being at the Tangor outlets. Absolutely love Sarris chocolates so we thought we could not go wrong at their ice cream shop... And we were RIGHT! This place looks like you're inside the game, Candyland. Painted murals on the walls with ice cream, castles and lots of pink. So after looking around, we ordered ice cream.... Couple sundaes and a cone for us!. Man it was great ice cream too! Different flavors... Variety of different toppings and they load them on! Was great and we'll definitely be back!

Stephanie K.

Yelp
Coming here for ice cream has been tradition for us since my kids were little. Every year this is the place my kids want to come to when we visit the grandparents. The one scoop with hard cap is our favorite and it is huge. They also have a great candy shop where you can anything you might like for your sweet tooth. The lines get pretty long but they move quickly.

Marissa R.

Yelp
Love it! So historic and beautiful. We got a giant 2-scoop serving of ice cream in the parlor at 11am because we heard there would be a big line any other time of day. It was $4.95 and was plenty for a few of us to share! Definitely check out the crazy variety of chocolates and gifts... and take some time to look around!!!

Genna G.

Yelp
Old fashioned chocolate shop with attached old fashioned ice cream parlor. This is a festive little spot and the owners decorate for the upcoming holidays ( we were here for Halloween and it and there were so many Halloween themed items ( think Halloween chocolate covered Oreos, pretzels, Rice Krispie treats etc) as well as tons of classic items to chose from. Gummy products and liquorish available too for non chocolate connoisseurs. Worth a stop if in the area - especially with kids in tow.

Molly M.

Yelp
Delicious ice cream and candy, clean bathrooms, very kind and helpful staff buttttt not enough seating indoors to actually sit and enjoy your ice cream. Perhaps it's better to visit in the warmer temperatures where there's additional seating outdoors.

Ella W.

Yelp
Came in from out of town for the ice cream on a Saturday and the ice cream parlor was out of cookies n cream ice cream (how can that be?). Chocolate prices are extremely expensive. For a few assorted chocolates it was over $10. Good chocolate but not worth the price or hassle.

Sarah S.

Yelp
Growing up in Pittsburgh, Sarris Candies (their chocolate covered pretzels and peanut butter meltaways especially!) has been my favorite chocolate and sentimental comfort craving now that I no longer live in PA. My husband knows if he's in town to bring some home for me and I make a point to get some when I'm here too. The creamy milk chocolate is to die for. And the meltaways?! Oh, they're just heavenly. My husband actually works for a company out of Pittsburgh and they send us a box every year at Christmas. At my old work we did work with a company out of Pittsburgh and they send a big box at Christmas every year too. My boss was nice enough to just give it straight to me when it arrived because he knew how much it meant to me. A special delivery all the way in FL is such a treat. Today I realized there is a whole store in the airport now so I actually picked up even more goodies (as much as I could fit in my bag. LOL) Turns out they have chocolate covered potato chips now too. Sigh... as if I needed another thing to obsess over. I can't wait to get home and share them with the family. Sarris chocolate is THE BEST!!!

Bonnie G.

Yelp
So my good friends bought me some milk chocolate salted caramels from their "favorite shop near Pittsburgh" as a gift, and oh my goodness. I am a chocolate fiend, a borderline snob!, and these caramel chews are blowing my mind. Their creamy and decadent and milky and chewy, with a touch of salt. I'd get them all the time if I lived nearby. Next time I visit them, I'll have to stop at the shop, as it looks magical.

Brittany A.

Yelp
Legendary. The hard cap and peanut butter cookie dough are my go to. Everything is fresh and the service is kind. Don't forget to go explore all the chocolate goodies and check out the cool creations of this local treasure.

Greg M.

Yelp
Fantastic chocolate just West of Pittsburgh near Washington, PA. Enjoyed large almond "bears". Will be back when in the area again.

Kayla L.

Yelp
I always have a great time at Sarris. There is always so much candy and chocolate to choose from and there is a great selection for holidays and special occasions. The ice cream parlor is amazing too. You always get so much ice cream for what you pay for and it's a great way to finish up your trip to Sarris. I always stop by when I'm in the area and I would recommend anyone else to do the same.

Bethany Z.

Yelp
My hometown destination for ice cream and candy! Always a good experience. Great ice cream parlor with nice stone outdoor seats to enjoy in the summer :)

Nelli T.

Yelp
OMG I absolutely loves getting chocolates from Sarris. This was my first time visiting the actual store in Canonsburg. The store has a large array of chocolates, and my favorite is the chocolate-covered Oreo! The boxed chocolates make for great gifts. I also love the cute and festive decorations inside the shop.

L L.

Yelp
Always take Sarris candies when I travel for friends and family. Bought a box of peanut butter melt aways at Pittsburgh Int. Airport on 11/12/2022 for my travels to Boston. They are utterly disgusting; pressed out candy, lacks peanut butter flavor and the chocolate coating is waxy and cheap. Nothing about these melt in your mouth. Actually the waxy chocolate is hard to get dissolved in your mouth, you have chew it. Not to mention the white color on the candy - was it that old??? What a waste of money!!! And how embarrassing to gift such a low grade, old, box of candy. Not buying Sarris anymore. No one has money to waste on low grade and old candy.

Virginia 'Go Go Ginger' H.

Yelp
My friends from Ohio gave me a Sarris milk chocolate bar recently. I was just going to have a bite - but it was so good I ate the whole thing! So I HAD to stop in on my way thru Pittsburgh. Wow what a colorful shop! SO MUCH to see it took me an hour to choose what I wanted to buy Ate three pieces in the car on the way home Yum #AllRoadsLeadToChocolate #GoGoGinger

Yelp
I can not believe that I have never written a review for Sarris. I've been coming here since I was a teenager. The ice cream parlour and candy shop never get old; it's always a fun and magical visit. It's like being in a fairy tale. The ice cream is so good with rather big portions on certain items. Love the butterscotch sundae. The chocolates are still really delicious with a good quality. This is a fun place to take someone who is visiting from out of town too.

Jaclyn K.

Yelp
Sarris is a MUST for anyone with a sweet tooth. The ice cream parlor was completely full when we arrived, but the service is run so smoothly that we had no wait at all. We were in the mood for sundaes, so my fiancé got the chocoholic one (3 scoops) and I did a make-your-own sundae with 2 scoops. There were so many ice cream flavors and toppings to choose from, and our sundaes were perfect! Just a warning, they are pretty huge but so worth the ice cream coma that follows haha.

Rebecca M.

Yelp
Yes, Sarris Candies is home to some of the best chocolate on the planet... but did you know they have an old school ice cream parlor, and even make ice cream cakes? The best thing, the cakes are customizable with a wide variety of their homemade ice cream flavors; including fillings and toppings. Best part; no hidden extra charges! Even if you ask for special decorations or customizations. This is my go to ice cream cake place for all occasions! They can be ordered & paid for online. They are approx $30

Nancy S.

Yelp
The best chocolate EVER!! The ice cream variety is excellent and very creamy. The staff is quick and keeps things moving even when the line gets really long. A great place to stop and sit outside under the awnings to enjoy a sundae or a cone.

W C.

Yelp
We're glad that we made a point of stopping here as the final destination of our Pittsburgh-Fallingwater-NHS sites loop today. It is superior to Klavon's in every way. First of all, you feel as though you just stepped into a confectionary wonderland. Yes, it's over the top with all the paraphernalia, but we found the whole place soothingly charming. Most of the candy section is your basic stuff (nothing special), but they're known for their chocolate covered pretzels, so we picked up a couple bags of those. Prices are STEEP (but when you mosey over to ice cream, it's back to total reasonableness). We tried a milk chocolate one and it was good--perfect combo and sweet and salty--but it didn't knock our socks off. In the old school ice cream parlor section, our kiddo got a cookies-n-cream cone with sprinkles and we got their black raspberry with the famous "hard cap" which is just that melted chocolate that gets hard once it hits the cold stuff. Chocolate sprinkles galore, thank you! Both ice creams were delicious, and while the hard cap became difficult to eat after a while, we did enjoy it when it was still melty and gooey. Sarri's strikes us a business that cares about its products and its customers, so we're happy that we were able to stop by and support it. If you're in the area, it's worth a visit, but we probably wouldn't say that you'd need to drive 40 minutes (and back) from Pitssburgh for it. 3.5 stars, happily rounding up.

Brooke P.

Yelp
Incredible incredible incredible out of this world ice cream. Definitely worth the wait. Highly recommend going with the chocolate devotion bowl hahah... if youre up to the challenge....ITS HUGE!!! Portions are generous and great for sharing, though you probably won't want to. NOW....The candy rooms side!!!! It was so cool to see all the different sculptures and candies available!!!! Not to mention the children and adults alike acting like they were in heaven haha!!! The joys in their faces were so great. I would surely recommend this place if youre in PITT or anywhere within an hour drive of!!!

Kenneth G.

Yelp
Excellent service. Generous helping size. Fun atmosphere. Terrific prices. Go here if you're in Washington County!

Ana A.

Yelp
I've been coming here since I was a little kid, and nothing has changed (It's still amazing). The selection of candy is endless, and there's an awesome ice cream parlor on the far left end of the store. Sarris has always been pretty expensive, but you get what you pay for in my opinion--best chocolate around. Not to mention, they have some great gifts and chocolate molds for every holiday, hobby, job, animal, and pretty much anything else you can think of. It can be a cute date spot if you want to grab ice cream and mill around the store. If you get ice cream, you just have to get the chocolate hard cap on top, it makes the whole sundae 1000x more worth it. Also, the massive chocolate castle is so cool to see! It is redone from time to time, and it's fun to see how they switch it up. This place has a ton of nostalgic value for me, but it would be a great trip for anyone who has never been. It's a great stop for families, couples, and people who just want to feel like a little kid again for a bit. I'll always love it here.

Valerie M.

Yelp
I was here with my husband on Valentine's weekend, and it was our first time. Such a wonderful selection! We are both diabetic and were worried there wouldn't be anything sugar-free, but there was! They had sugar-free ice cream, and it was delicious! It tasted like the real thing. I found other sugar-free items and bought them. The only problem I have with their chocolate is that they use maltitol. Maltitol gives you horrendous gas, and if you eat more than one bite, it has a laxative effect. Please, I beg of you stop using maltitol... There are tons of other ingredients to use. Stevia, monk fruit, etc Other than that, it was a fun trip. Kind of stumbled upon it by accident. Will return for the ice cream. Yum!

Kevin M.

Yelp
Got a box for Christmas. What's the big deal? I'd take See's over this waxy stuff haha. Just nothing to write home about ‍

I love this place! I've been going since I was a baby! My favorite is the chocolate hard cap, pour it on ice cream and i will sit on the couch eating leftovers. HIGHLY RECOMMEND PLEASE TRY!

Yelp
I love our local candy store. I was so excited to get my hands on the hot cocoa bombs! Also the peppermint sticks ice cream is amazing. So this is for the overall review. However when I was standing in line for ice cream there were 2 large families in front of me and not respecting the 6 ft rule as I continued to move away. It would be nice if the number of people in line would be limited to 2 individuals per family.

Yelp
If you want the best ice cream and chocolate, this is your spot! A must go to place if you're ever in Pittsburgh.

Yelp
Chocolate. The best chocolate in Pittsburgh! A must stop anytime, especially during the holidays! Did I mention chocolate!

Yelp
Went during the COVID-19. Patrons can order inside and sit outside. Mask required for entry. No sitting inside. Or they have curbside delivery, after your order online. I got the dairy free option which was a chocolate chip, in a waffle cone. The "ice cream" was pretty good and the waffle cone was fresh and crispy. My son got the apple pie flavor ice cream, in a waffle cone. He really liked it and said their was actual pie crust in the ice cream. It was my husband's birthday, so he got the banana split. See picture. Looked amazing. He got chocolate fudge instead of chocolate sauce. What a great night.

Yelp
We ordered ice cream via the form on their website. Wait was an unexpected 30 minutes on a popular weekday afternoon. Check in was easy with a link texted to my cell phone, and a staff person quickly brought our order to our car. (We decided not to eat at one of the tables on the sidewalk.) The servings are large scoops with generous toppings. So good! Easy to share.
