I came here twice and honestly both times were kind of disappointing 😭. I don’t know how I was lenient on it earlier but both times it didn’t really hit. The first time I got ricotta sanchetti and my friend and I shared the carbonara fries. The pasta was mid (4/10) and the fries were (3.5/10). My friend liked his meal a little more than me. They also kept pushing drinks on us. The second time I came was a lot better but still quite disappointing. We ordered the ricotta toast which I liked but it was only 6/10 at best. We also got the chicken with couscous and the ragu pasta. The chicken was dry and the couscous hard not super flavorful (4.5/10) and the pasta was really mid (5/10). Nice environment and okay service

My first 5 star review. They were fully booked but sat us anyways. Food was impeccable, service was on point. Would definitely go back. Shout out to the manager Pheobe she made the night even better. Go here!

We love this place. Good drinks. Great service. Nice atmosphere. The food is usually very good with decent portion sizes. This last time, however, the music was distractingly off, and both pasta dishes did not measure up. The pasta was overcooked and made for a gummy consistency. The flavors themselves were good but too much thickener in the sauces (flour, cornstarch?) plus the overcooked pasta made for a mushy set of entrees—Cacio e Pepe and Pesto Pollo. #disappointed

We come here fairly frequently and it never disappoints. Lunch, brunch, dinner, never a bad time. Highly recommend

Google
Super cutesy; drinks are a really good size and so is really everything else. I LOVED the burrata and the Mussels were underwhelming but pretty solid. Halibut was pretty good too but questionable sides. Service was quick

Good old-fashioned hospitality is alive and well in Providence and nowhere more flawlessly executed than at Sarto. We hoped to stop in for drinks and live jazz, so called ahead and spoke with Danielle, who explained that normally, the bar was 1st come 1st serve. We arrived to learn that she had reserved the two best bar seats for us! Things just got better from there. While the jazz was absolutely enjoyable, the stars of the evening for us were Ricki and Maddy behind the bar. Their passion for crafting the perfect cocktail was a show in and of itself. Everyone we spoke with from the General Manager to Danielle to our 'bar stars' made for an enjoyable evening. We will be back for dinner soon!

Just had an amazing experience at this place. Reserved a table after the hotel we were staying at told us their restaurant was closed. Last minute reservation here and we were greeted warmly and seated at the bar. Bartender (Juliette)was excellent and all staff were so polite. Food was outstanding and terrific atmosphere. Surprise birthday dessert at the end was complementary. Highly recommended.

Sarto elevates Italian cuisine and bridges comfort food with culinary expertise. Both pasta dishes were absolute showstoppers: the smoked mushroom cacio e pepe reimagined a classic with depth and complexity, while the ragu di coda di bue demonstrated traditional technique with modern finesse. The restaurant's intimate atmosphere made for a perfect date night destination.

Yelp
The food is excellent! I was visiting for a work trip and went twice that week! I had the Scallop dish and oxtail ragu. Both were unbelievable delicious! I also told some friends to go after work. The service was great for a solo visit or for a group. The ambiance was very nice for dinner, soft dim lighting. I will be back!

Yelp
We went to SARTO for the New Year's Eve event for $320.00 (tip included...no drinks). There was a sold out crowd with a 4 course meal. Overall, the service and food was excellent. Definitely not worth the money, but it was New Year's Eve. We were expecting a little more from the Burlesque show and the DJ. The oysters were a 5/5 The pancetta wrapped scallop was a 4/5 The Zuppa De Vongole was a 5/5 The Braised Short Rib was a 5/5 The Seared Cod 2/5 (Burnt Rabe and sauce on the Cod tasted too much like tomato paste. The Salted Caramel Creme Brulee 5/5 Espresso Panna Cotta 4/5 We ordered some drinks off of the menu with dinner and they were all great wine choices with dinner. Drinks were charged separately. The staff really did a great job getting the food out and making the night enjoyable. I would definitely go back to Sarto on a regular night. They are great restaurant, just didn't meet my expectations for entertainment on New Year's Eve. I thought the event was promoted to be better than it actually was.

Yelp
I had a bite of my friend's ragu and it was so delicious, I'd say that's the one to get. I got the ricotta sachetti with butternut squash which was also pretty good, but grew a bit monotonous over time. Nice vibes with the live jazz, and good service.

Yelp
We went to Sarto last night and had a wonderful experience. We found a seat right away at the bar and were greeted by Gabrielle the bartender. The service was quick and the food was delicious. If you order anything, make it be the house made focaccia. The dipping oil has a little acidity from white balsamic that made the dish really fresh. I will give a warning that the food is RICH. I ordered with my heart and had to take a few things home because it was heavy. The music in the restaurant was reminiscent of high end eateries in Italy, very low key and instrumental.

Yelp
I can only walk by a restaurant on my daily hot girl walk so many times before my curiosity gets the best of me & I have to try it out. So, at long last, I tried Sarto Restaurant. Shotgun review: - Creative, moody, modern interior - High ceilings, so very echoey - Wonderful, accommodating staff* - Pretty cocktails, but not quite right** - Tasty crudo, but also not quite right*** - Gluten-free pasta alternatives & delicious ragu - Bathroom needs some TLC *From the jump, the staff was wicked friendly & accommodating. We wanted to sit at the bar, but there was a large party of folks standing around in just the right way so that there weren't two adjacent seats available. The bartender was fast as lightning, somehow getting two bar stools next to each other in just a few minutes. This bartender meant business & absolutely deserves praise & a raise. Thanks! After we ordered the crudo, another staff member came out to tell us there would be a delay on the order. No problem for us, really. We're certainly not picky like that & we weren't in a rush. But still, the sweet employee offered us bread to enjoy in the meantime. We declined, since I can't eat gluten. We suggested olives & she said, basically, "say no more!" & olives appeared in front of us within minutes. Thanks! **The cocktails were pretty to look at, but strange. I think the proportions were off on the "Absolutely Smashing Love" cocktail (mezcal, strawberry-basil shrub, lime) because it was wicked vinegar heavy. I get it, shrub, but it was definitely off. The rum punch was even stranger. A proportion disaster, I think. See my attached video & photo. It was a whole show, with an orange set aflame & nutmeg sprinkled over the fire. However, the result was about 2 oz of liquid. That CAN'T be right. It's listed on the menu as "big & tall" (figure of speech, I know) & "higher alcohol, bold flavors" but it wasn't any of those things. So 2 oz of liquid for $16 is definitely a miscalculation. We ordered it twice, for science, & the second came out just as strange as the first. ***The tuna crudo was tasty, but it was heavily seared. It was good, but a misrepresentation of crudo. All of that said, I would still come back. I think Sarto is best for a plate of pasta & a glass of wine. PS - A high life + campari CANNOT be $13. Get real.

Yelp
We have walked past this restaurant several times during our many visits to PVD. Sarto is located on the corner of Dorrance and Weybosset Streets, close to the Arcade. The interior is very well designed. A bit of brick wall, high wooden ceilings with steel girders, clean lines of natural materials softened by white fabric curtains hung between the bar and dining area softly moving in a breeze from the open door. You can see the care used intentionally creating this space. A small balcony area is located above the dining room, overlooking the bar with a large window wall overlooking Weybosset Street to brighten the space. Used as an overflow dining area on busy nights, you can reserve this space for private parties. The food is also well curated. Many ingredients are sourced from Italy making for a more authentic tasting Italian meal. Courses are sized appropriately to the Italian way of dining. Enough to satisfy while leaving room for the courses to follow. Don't worry, you will *not* leave hungry! Most items are a fusion of Italian and American ingredients while adhering to the intent of the original Italian recipe. IMHO. I chose Sachetti from the Pasta menu. These are small 'bags' of pasta, stuffed with cheese and served in a squash puree. Think of a ravioli type pasta, but in the shape of a tiny drawstring bag. This was an excellent dish for me. The pasta is well cooked retaining it's integrity, making it possible to cut the sachetti in half and it holds it's shape. The sauce includes bits of apple, almonds and butternut squash. My dining companion chose the Pasta Al Pomodore. There is a gentle spiciness to this tomato sauce. Very appealing. The Tagliatelle is cooked a perfect al dente. Toothsome without leaving any 'raw' pasta in the middle. Needless to say, we both devoured our selections. This menu offers plenty of items I would definitely return to try. Scallops, Puttanesca, Ribeye, Panzanella. The broccolini on the antipasto menu looks good as does the Formaggio selection. Desserts include a local Gelato and three types of cake. The bar offers a large wine by the bottle menu, listed by type (red/white/dessert) and location (Italian Region/Domestic). Also available are a variety of Grappa, Amari and Cordials. Beginning to end you can start with Aperitivo and go through all the courses to dessert including the appropriate accompanying wine or liquor if you so choose. Or are hungry enough. The staff were all very friendly and professional. The food was well prepared, the recipes well crafted. I am very glad we stopped in to Sarto and look forward to our next visit.

Yelp
Stopped in for a quick drink this weekend before going to the show. We had a the pop tart and a couple drinks to take the edge off before sitting in the theater. The bartender turned us to some blueberry vodka and had good conversation about downtown. The menu looks really interesting. Can't wait to come back and dig into this place.

Yelp
My girlfriends and I had been seeing a lot of Instagram action spotlighting Sarto so we figured why not?! We started with the ricotta toast and were a little underwhelmed but still tasty. An assortment of cocktails and entrees were chosen and enjoyed. I especially enjoyed my Porchetta it was chefs kisses. So crispy. I want to come back and try the 30 day aged ribeye. I'm glad Sarto didn't fall flat like a lot of places plastered all over Instagram.

Andy B.

Yelp
Only stopped in for drinks... but 2 of the best cocktails I've had aim a while. Flavorful, well crafted, delicious, memorable. Enjoyed the low key live Jazz as well. Will revisit.

Amber M.

Yelp
Loved the ambiance and decoration here and the service was top tier. It felt modern, stylish, yet relaxed. They all are ahead of the curve by having an extensive drink menu that includes cocktails and low alcohol cocktails (totally up our alley), as well as reasonably priced glasses of wine and regular cocktails. We ordered two pasta dishes (ragu and smoked mussels caccio e pepe) and their brown butter cake. Food was great, can't beat freshly made pasta with tasty sauce. The brown butter cake was a little too rich for me, but my husband liked it. Would definitely come back.

Yelp
Upscale Italian restaurant in downtown Providence, but still has a pretty laid back atmosphere for an Italian place. Had the scallop crudo and the smoke mussels cacio y pepe. The cacio y pepe was my favorite pasta dish I've had in a while. Was my first time trying a scallop crudo, the flavors were great and it was a good dish but found out that's not really my thing (I'll stick to the tuna). Wine was also great. Service at the bar was great, and the prices were about what you'd expect to pay at a higher end place. Atmosphere was chill but fancy, a nice place to sit at the bar, come with a group, or go on a date. Would definitely recommend giving them a try!

Ken O.

Yelp
Went on 11/2 with other couple. Service is outstanding. The fresh made bread was our appetizer tasty. Atmosphere is awesome. But two of us ordered Porchetta Special and both served were overcooked dry and the skin was almost too tough to cut with a knife. Seasoning was overwhelming too. My wife's meal Pepe Cacio was very good she said. Other man's dinner clams and scallops tasted good but dinners are small in portions compared to most Italian Restaurants we go to. We will try it again some day. Two Jazz musicians started at 7:00 very nice. Place has a VERY POSITIVE VIBE. One great note was the Free Vallet parking. Very nice and safe. 3.5 rating

Yelp
Fun date night ! Modern Italian food with a red and wood themed ambiance. The food is ok, nothing to shock you but still tasty :) delicious espresso martinis!

David V.

Yelp
Place was nice and waitress was nice-No Jameson- No Shrimp. Not a lot of choices-Food was ok

Mary A.

Yelp
The staff was friendly and accommodating. The food was delicious. We had the seasonal panzanella salad, pasta al pomodoro, sachetti, lemoncello cake and brown butter cake. My favorites were the sachetti and brown butter cake - so delicious. For drinks we had the lemoncello cocktail and absolutely smashing, love. We didn't care for either and switched to wine. A really cool vibe and a pretty presentation with the food and drink.

Yelp
I feel this place is best enjoyed as a bar to enjoy something to eat and not a 'sit down restaurant'. I say this as they have a respectable wine and liquor menu with plenty of options. The menu is small and on a Saturday night there were no specials, it limited our options but we still managed to find something to eat. The good? The food was by and large delicious. Despite the limited selection, we were able to assemble a nice salumi board with focaccia, and a pair of pasta dishes to be the main course. The main courses were tasty as well. The bad? In one word - size. As noted, they have a respectable wine list. However, they only sell bottles. Next, the small menu limits your options. Normally not a bad thing, but I picked a dud in a dish of spaghetti squash puttanesca. The squash portion was tasty, but small. I had maybe 2 olives cut in 4 and 4-5 capers. Finally, the 'tuna' was cold and perhaps was pulled from a can that had been in the fridge - leftovers from a prior night? I would have enjoyed trying the dish with a bit more squash and canned tuna with sour olives and capers. My wife's dish of tagliatelle on the other hand was perfectly sized and all in all delicious. My bad. If I return, it'd be cocktails and appetizers. The overall vibe fits that effort.

Yelp
I came to Sarto with a few friends to celebrate a birthday. We were planning to sit indoors but it was absolutely boiling in there so we sat outside. Other than the occasional loud revving from those obnoxious motorcycle men, the weather and atmosphere were rather pleasant. I was surprised to see that the restaurant was not very crowded on a Friday night. We ordered the house focaccia and carbonara french fries to start as well as some cocktails (I tried the Garibaldi). The focaccia wasn't the best; I didn't think it had enough of a crunch on the top/edges. However, the french fries were delicious. For my entree I went with the Gigli al pesto with chicken. The pasta was incredibly fresh and had a tender texture with just enough bite to it. The pesto was nice and garlicky and the tomato confit provided the dish with the perfect amount of acidity. The meal went swimmingly up until dessert. We split the brown butter cake and chocolate cake. The former was great - it reminded me of the famously moist butter cake from California Pizza Kitchen. However, the latter was disappointingly chalky; a mediocre end to what could have been a nearly-perfect night. Overall, Sarto has some really delicious modern, Italian food. The loud traffic nearby is sadly just a result of their location. I would definitely return for a special occasion but they've really got to start cranking up that indoor AC during the summer!

Angel S.

Yelp
Nice cozy atmosphere for a night out with good service. I had highs and a low with what I ordered; the highs being the carbonara fries, the mussels, and the blue hibiscus tea drink but my scallop entree was a fail. The scallops were good but the dish was not well rounded at all, it came over shaved brussel sprouts. This entree could have given more.

Dawn G.

Yelp
Sometimes a girl just needs a delicious and fresh pot of muscles and a cold one to go with. If you're in Providence then Sarto is your spot. Shaded outdoor seating at sunset gave this stop a nice comfy neighborhood vibe. Service was good helpful and friendly once I got on their radar. Go and enjoy something Italian and amazing!

Cara D.

Yelp
I had given it the benefit of the doubt, but the food is still overpriced for what it is and the restaurant clearly has some operational kinks that they need to work out. Waiter was great :) however- The scallops were mediocre, they forgot to add the potatoes to them, and were barely seared. The dish was 40 for that TINY portion. They did give us some money back for forgetting the potatoes. Burrata was okay. Cauliflower was very mediocre as well. Pasta was. 6/10 lacked pretty much any flavor. We then ordered gelato and waited 30 minutes for it, no joke. It didn't make much sense. Meanwhile staff was just sitting around. Nobody there really seemed to want to be there. It's sad because it's such a nice venue. I get that with COVID staff is low and finding staff is hard but nobody seemed trained there at all. 1. Improve your operations / staff communication 2. Improve your scallops / food quality, that was so not a 40 dollar portion. 3. You have a chance to make a comeback! So do something about it.

Victoria S.

Yelp
My friend and I went on a Thursday recently, just for a drink at the bar. The bartender was very kind and friendly. Had one of the best French 75 cocktails of my life! The service was great and the atmosphere was upscale. I was pleasantly surprised and look forward to returning!

Colin W.

Yelp
Everything was excellent: the decor, the ambiance, the service, the food and drink. Highly recommended.

Steven P.

Yelp
Went with a group, and we were excited to try this interesting restaurant. The food was very mixed. Some people found their dishes good, others more than lacking. Two people ordered the prime rib. One person's was good. The other had more fat than meat. Entree portions, except for the steak, ranged between small and tiny. One person ordered an overpriced rum punch, which broke the record for smallest drink ever. It had less in the glass than a whiskey neat. My vodka tonic was basically essence of vodka. Also no bread. They did charge us $30 for five or six servings of focaccia bread for which they didn't bring enough oil. We asked for more oil, plus we asked for butter. Neither came. For a group, they add a 20% tip and have the nerve suggest more. The waitress was nice, but this place is a total rip-off.

Amy G.

Yelp
Reopened with a new chef! We went to Sarto this past weekend and it was great. A pro-tip for Providence on a weekend is go early (right when the open early) to a restaurant when you want a good not rushed meal. The kitchen has time to slowdown and focus on your dishes. The venue is the same, bright and open. They have Narragansett creamy as the cheese in a lot of dishes which is great to see a local source Burrata, sacchetti pasta, crudo was all delicious. Staff was great. Only two pieces of constructional feedback: the bar seats could be lowered a bit, a lot of bending over to eat your food. The second is the staff comes behind you to bring your food and it would be ideal if it came from someone behind the bar and placed in-front of you. If the bar was full I'd imagine coming from behind would be less than ideal. Looking forward to going back.

Laurie E.

Yelp
Amazing food with unexpected ingredients and flavors, great wine selection and even better service. Going back again the next day!

Leah S.

Yelp
The night we were there was really, really busy. It was wall to wall and shoulder to shoulder with humans all wanting drinks. We were happy to wait our turn and watch the crowds. We were at a very long bar that had a bartender on each side, they were hustling to get drinks out to everyone. My partner whispered to me that we seemed to be missing our chance each time the bartender went around getting drinks orders from surrounding groups. I decided to watch the going's on and it did look like he was purposely skipping us. I have zero idea why because we were simply waiting our turn. Next thing the bartender stands close to where we were waiting, and while mixing a drink, very loudly announces that "people complaining about not being served, get no fucking drinks" Wow. What just happened? We hadn't complained at all. The people behind us had, in-fact said something about not getting service. We weren't part of their group but were somehow guilty by association? When I saw the bartender from the other side, I mentioned we had been waiting a while with no service, so he helped us, with a smile. I asked what his associate's name was. Eric or Eriq, spelling might be different. Eriq, we understand the world is short staffed. We didn't have a problem waiting, we did have a problem with your belligerent, passive-aggressive behavior. Hopefully they hire more help to avoid those kinds of outbursts in future.

Yelp
I was excited to try this spot but was underwhelmed by the both the food and service. I ordered the grilled broccolini and the ragu. The broccolini was okay. It was a bit under seasoned and overcooked as it had gotten a tad mushy. The ragu was good but not excellent. I thought the pasta was great and had a nice bite but the ragu was bland. It was a bit salty but lacked a lot of other flavours that I expected from the sausage and tomatoes. I tried the steak, tuna crudo, and carbonara fries that other people had ordered. The steak was a steak so it was good but nothing special. The tuna tartar was extremely salty and also lacked other flavour. It was in a sweet vinaigarette but would have benefited from something tart or sour. It also had an odd texture. The tuna itself almost seemed cured rather than just raw. The carbonara fries were a gimmick. It was fries with a carbonara sauce and lardons. People in my party enjoyed it but I didn't care for it. We were a large group(9) but I was disappointed by how slow the service was. When the food came out some of the items felt like they had been sitting for a bit. I can understand that since it was also extremely busy but also disappointing. Our server was clearly pressed and wasn't super attentive. We sat outside and the weather was perfect. Nice ambiance inside the restaurant as well.

Yelp
Providence is our go to city- not too far and not too big! Coming out of the pandemic we have made a pact to visit at least once all the restaurants in Providence we seem to have an interest to. A Waterfire(numerous smaller pit fires on the canals was scheduled) we came down, parked and wandered the city aimlessly discovering Sarto's, a name known but not yet visited. The main thing for us is an open bar to sit at and that's all we need! Overall it's a pasta Italian restaurant, unless they add a special and I'm only guessing they probably don't do a form of a pizza. Just arrive with pasta in mind and you will be fine.

Alfred W.

Yelp
Regarding the food: Extremely mediocre. I kinda see it as the Legal Seafoods of pasta. Sparse with no frills. There are like 3 things on the plate. For instance, Fra Diavolo: pasta, spicy sauce, mussels. It's not even on par with Pasta Beach in Wayland Square. The fries were good as an app. But come on, they're fries. The octopus was a single short piece of tentacle that was nothing like the delicate dish put out at Gracie's. The food, I guess, would be what I'd expect if my son were in his first year of culinary school and making us dinner. Not terrible but nothing I'd want to pay $350 for. We went during Restaurant Week. The prix fixe menu gets 1 star - it sucked. Best was the chowder, which looked like dish water but still had some flavor, like a RI clam chowder at Iggy's at double the price. The bucatini was horrid. Noodles doused in olive oil with hardly any flavor. A smattering of corn did nothing to save the dish. And the olive cake was a crusty dried mess. Regardless of how you slice it, the meal was a dramatic disappointment. We won't be back. On the positive side, the restaurant was well decorated with an airy feel - particularly nice in the era of COVID. Maybe I should have started with the positives first?

Yelp
We were getting together with friends who like Italian food, and having frequented many of Providence's fine existing establishments, were interested ins something new. After a little Yelp Research (should that be called Yelpsearch or Yesearch?!), I found Sarto, located in the Providence G building, which opened about 6 months ago and boasted some very good reviews. We reserved a table for four on Resy and met there on Saturday night at 6pm. They offer free validated parking on a lot at the corner of Dorrance Street. There are also many lots available which range from about $7 to $10. It was a beautiful early spring evening, and the large windows were open to the street. We sat at a table next to an open window, and except for the occasional motorcycle, the noise level was very good. Our waitress was very prompt and professional, as she explained the menu in detail. We began by sharing an appetizer: * Chicken Liver Mousse $14 (apple butter, fried chicken skin, sourdough toast). This was delicious, and very light on tasty, nicely toasted sourdough. Then, onto our antipasti, and we ordered: * Grilled Asparagus $15 (burrata, Sunflower Seed Vinaigrette, Sourdough Toast). * Grilled Gem Salad $12 (smoked bluefish, buttermilk vinaigrette, puffed grains). I've had many asparagus dishes over the years, and this has to rank in the top 1%. The asparagus has a wood fire, smoky flavor, and was complimented by a delicious, and slightly viscous vinaigrette. I doubt that I would return here without ordering this dish every time. My friends ordered the Gem salad, and thought it was very tasty. Four our entrees we ordered: * Bucatini Cacio E Pepe $14 (Cabot Clothbound Cheddar, Peppercorn medley). * Sourdough Raschiatelli $16( Sunchokes, Mint, Chive). * Osteria Filet $26 (Wild Spring Onion, Chicories, Fingerling potatoes). The Bucatini Cacio E Pepe was absolutely delicious! And the chef must have discovered one of the secrets to successful cooking. If you make high-quality home-made pasta, and add a lot of butter and cheese, it's probably going to taste good! And this dish didn't disappoint. The Sourdough Raschiatelli was also tasty, though the diner felt the portion was too small. The Osteria Filets were nicely cooked and quite tender, with a rich sauce. I thought the fingerling potatoes were a little bland and soggy. Dinner and a glass of wine for each diner totaled about $190. We did a Yelp vote, all agreed that Sarto's merited a solid four-star performance on this evening. We look forward to a return visit and would like to sample their deviled eggs.

Yelp
Amazing food, service, drinks. Will coming back sooooon!! Waitress fantastic forgot her name but she has pink hair. The best!

Yelp
A group of neighbors went out to Sarto for dinner. I had called a few weeks before to make sure they would do separate checks. They said yes. When we arrived, the waitress said No, we don't do separate checks. After a bit of conversation, she agreed to split our party of 7 into 3 separate checks, meaning that 3 individual ones would be combined into one check. How hard it is to split checks? I have friends that work in IT for restaurant computer systems and they say it really is not difficult. There are ways to help the customer. We ordered our meal around 6:15pm....there was probably 1-2 other tables in the whole place. The entrees arrived after 7PM. Over 45 minutes !!! If dishes take long, it would be nice for the menu to state that, so people can be informed. The service was average, not very attentive, not a great customer friendly staff. The food was average as well. The table got the prosciutto breadsticks and you get 5 of them for $14. They were average...as always, very salty pork around a bland breadstick. We also got the deviled eggs, nothing to write home about. For dinner, I got the Bass and it was nicely done on a spicy broth. I asked for pepper at the beginning of my meal and the pepper shaker arrived after 10 min. I had finished about 70% of my meal already. My BF got the gnocchi and he liked it. Another friend got the chicken saltimboca and they liked the taste, but noticed that the portions were very small. Overall a nice addition to downtown, but nothing to hurry back for.

Yelp
We went to Sarto on a whim because they had pretty good reviews and available reservations. What started as a random decision ended up being the best decision- I couldn't believe how flavorful our food was. We ordered the ricotta toast with ricotta from Narragansett Creamery. The ricotta was so fresh and perfectly complimented by the blistered tomatoes and green onions. I was craving some crudo so I ordered the scallops with chili seasoning- it was to die for. For entrees I ordered a pesto chicken dish with unique Gigli pasta- I was worried based on some of the reviews I read that the portions would be small, but was pleasantly surprised by the size of my dish- it was enough for both tonight's dinner and tomorrow's. Andy ordered the porchetta, and I was blown away at how perfectly the flavors balanced each other out. Usually I don't eat a ton of meat or pork, but this pork was so tender and flavorful that I couldn't stop taking bites out of his meal. We didn't get to order dessert because the restaurant was short staffed (totally understandable, but the reason why I took off a star) but had our eyes on the limoncello cake, which we will make sure to get next time we go. Drinks were also delicious- my waiter recommended a delicious red wine.

Yelp
I'm impressed with this new Italian spot downtown. It's not your typical Fed Hill restaurant (which is good because I avoid the Hill as much as possible) -- they don't make anything with red sauce, for starters! But the chef is SO awesome and personable: a native RI'er who trained in NYC and Italy, he brought his knowledge back with him to make truly authentic dishes. The food is top notch. (It does cost a pretty penny, though, and I find it hard to justify spending so much. I'd suggest it for date night, or a special occasion...it's a bit like Oberlin.) Despite my caveat above, it is a very welcoming place. This is a bar I'd want to visit after work. The cocktails are NYC prices, but very delicious. Mike the bartender is awesome. I ordered a Bari Sunset, which he described as tasting like a Sangria (it reminded me of the House Punch at the Eddy), and I liked it... but my friend got the Foundry drink with mezcal--I think I liked that better! And I plan to come back for the Valente. In terms of food, we tried all of the pastas except the risotto, and they were all great. I really loved the chestnut gnocchi because it was like nothing I've ever tasted - the gnocchi is made of chestnuts!! It says it in the name, but it didn't register until I ate it. I also liked the bolognese, but expect the lamb to taste different from normal bolognese (I wouldn't consider it "gamey," though, as someone else noted). We also tried the gem salad (a gem, indeed) and the ceasar toast, which was very good but the broccoli rabe made it hard to eat. It's a knife-and-fork crostini. The desserts are not overly sweet, which is nice. I don't know what a zeppole is supposed to taste like, but Frank, an Italian, told me this redefined it. I trust him, but it's not my chosen type of dessert...it was like a very classy version of a churro. But I enjoyed the accompanying ice cream! The Coffee Milk Budino (best described as pudding) was really nice, but the sea salt (?) sprinkled on top was sprinkled in excess. It should be more of an accent. This is a nice addition to the downtown scene, and I think it's going to be a popular spot. Visit now while you can still get a seat!

Yelp
Stopped in for a quick drink and light apps on a Saturday evening. We were pleasantly surprised, great service from the hostess all the way to the bartender. Really liked the ambiance as well, the bar was well situated and we were very comfortable. Not too loud. Great menu, food was fresh and the menu was inventive. Looking forward to coming back for dinner!

Yelp
Came here with a large group, had pasta, mussels, scallops, table ordered 4 bottles of wine, lemon cake, potato and bread appetizers, had a great time.

Yelp
It's the most terrible Italian food I ever tasted. I understand it's an experimental approach to traditional Italian cuisine, and it's refreshing and exciting everything, but it's bad. It's very bad. If you are looking for something new and pricey, not something delicious, this is your spot. I didn't try the wine but other people said it's not bad.

Yelp
Started raving about this place before I even left! Made a last minute res on a Saturday to have dinner with friends. Res was easy to make on open table. We were greeted warmly right away and seated with menus. Menu was really really well done and I got excited. Big shout out to the zero alcohol drinks--blueberry smash with Seedlip made for a complex drink with no alcohol--some one has been paying attention. Ok the food: ricotta toast--grilled but still chewy bread with creamy ricotta and very fresh tomatoes-- Tuna Crudo--blood orange comes through and really plays well against the tuna Porchetta--get this. Thank me later The place is stunningly beautiful, food is really effing good, service is efficient--drinks are spot on. Great addition to the Providence restaurant scene and I look forward to returning!

Yelp
Came here last Saturday with some friends to celebrate a birthday. I called the restaurant ahead to confirm that they had Valet parking, as advertised, and they told me it would be available. Pulling up to the restaurant, no such valet, but that is on the service itself, not the restaurant. First thing to notice is how modern and fun the restaurant looks. Definitely a place that would attract a chill bar crowd and enjoyed for a date night. We got a bunch of dishes to share. The bread was delicious as well as the warm olives, but I found that the broccolini had no flavor with the aioli on it. The drinks however were delicious and well created, kudos to the bartender that evening. All entrees at the table were mentioned to be delicious, but I can only speak to my Ribeye which was excellent. It was better than what I was expecting and was worth going out for. Split some desserts afterwards, the Brown butter cake was unreal, highly recommended. All in all, great little date spot in a fun little neighborhood. I look forward to going back in the warmer months.

Yelp
We have been twice, love the food and ambiance. Kevin served us the first time, Naomi served us the 2nd time. Both were knowledgeable, professional and pleasant. They weren't annoyed with questions and were accommodating and happy. Food is insane good. Over the top with flavor. So fresh. Brown Butter cake was the bomb along with all our food.

Yelp
We didn't experience the greatest service, couldn't get the cocktails we wanted because they didn't have stock.. App forgotten, dinner wine forgotten, waited extra long for our entrees and dessert. Sadly a disappointment for the four of us out for a night.

Yelp
We love Sarto! We've been in a few times and all of our visits have been so enjoyable! At our last visit we sat at the bar and the bartenders were fantastic! The food was great, I highly recommend the rosemary focaccia! The menu changes so it's always exciting and the location right downtown os convenient for anything you might be doing in the city. We loved it so much we booked it for our rehearsal dinner next year! Check it out if you're nearby!

Yelp
Fantastic service, nice ambiance, very good food. One of the best Italian restaurants in Providence.

Yelp
The food was blend, we ordered the pesto pasta, had no flavor whatsoever. The waiter ignored us when we made the comments. The food took very long to arrive.

Yelp
This place is so consistent and delicious. We love the ambience too. You wouldn't know it was so dope from just seeing it from the outside! Don't miss out on the ricotta toast, or the butternut squash pasta. Shoutout to Tim for being the best bartender in town.

Yelp
The food was descent, but let's face it in Providence you can get descent anywhere, cheese plate portions were paltry and I had a sub-par Old Fashioned which was surprising since they claim to be a cocktail bar. Their biggest failing was service, waitstaff did their best while working the second floor but my real issue was when i requested a larger table and was told they were fully booked, we were sat near the restroom and workstation. Fine enough I understand if you have larger reservations coming in but I became increasingly agitated as those tables not only remained open but also watched as staff broke down the table I requested and it still sat empty for the next 45 minutes as finished our dinner. A restaurant is a food and hospitality business , more effort on the guest experience may have improved my opinion of the food. because of this I have low priority of returning

Yelp
I came here with a group of my friends for my birthday dinner and was quite impressed with our time there! We had an 8:00 PM reservation but we arrived early and were seated with no problem. Our servers were kind and attentive the whole night and they even topped off my wine for my birthday since the bottle was almost finished. On to the food, we got the charcuterie board and the meats were well balanced with the jam and olives provided. I ordered the steak entree and it was outstanding, the entire piece of meat was cooked just right and the vegetable that came with it was nicely fried. My friend did order one of the pasta dishes that was a bit small but she said it was delicious. Dessert was the panna cotta that was well balanced with the orange on top and berry mix. While overall it was a pricey experience, it was well worth it and I'll be back!

Yelp
I walked in for an early lunch with 3 other guests and was greeted with a friendly smile from Paul. First initial reaction was how it reminded me of a quaint bistro in Washington DC. We sat at the bar as he was juicing fresh lemons, limes and grapefruits. He explained to us the open kitchen concept in how you can see the chefs make your meal, and helped me decide on a craft original cocktail. Paul made me "The Jam Band;" A margarita shaken with tequila, fresh lime juice, and a spicy homemade concord grape jelly mix (don't forget the spoon topper). It's just the right amount of heat on your tongue, and the right amount of liquid in your cup to sip and relax with before, during, and after your meal. It never got watered Down!!! The lunch portion size of the Fruiti de Mare was superb. You can tell the pasta was freshly cooked, the shrimp and muscles added great substance, and it was all tossed in red/garlic sauce. I got to steal some of my Nana's French fries (from her Italian grinder sandwich) which were super crispy. Her sandwich was so big she had to take it home. Paul had about 10 other guests in the dining room for lunch. He never seemed rushed or stressed and was super personable with each table. All in all, it's a modern and warm atmosphere and would definitely try it at least once. Good job!!!
