Upscale restaurant located along a quiet stretch in kyoto. Reservation required online via their website. The service was fantastic and attentive. We ordered the duck cold soba! Noodle portion was super huge, but the hot broth was definitely the star of the show. The duck meat was kinda tough and chewy though. The set also came with their specialty financier, which was an absolutely delicious way to end the meal. total was 4,400yen per set!

As a local guide, I had an amazing dining experience at this restaurant. Awesome soba. Best one I had in my life. Restaurant was clean and attentive and servers and chef provided excellent service. They know how to serve customers and make dining experience pleasant. Fine soba dinning at best. Atmosphere were decorative and represented kyoto well. Must try this fantastic restaurant!! Book ahead!

The place is superbe, I strong recommend a reservation as they have few places. You can easily reserve online with Tablecheck. We chose the degustation menu, which consists of 8 well balanced dishes. Quantity is balanced so that you can eat all of them. I personally loved the Parmesan soba, soba sushi, soba gaki. I didn’t like a lot the buckwheat soup with the duck, didn’t like the consistency of both the soup and the duck (the skin was too soft and wasn’t good to fit the soup overall). I personall also didn’t find very easy to eat the tempura, which arrived as a unique big tempura, wasn’t easy to portion and eat. The personnel was always very kind and checking on us often. The location is stunning. We liked it and would recommend, the price is a bit high compared to other restaurants, but you can select the menu which looked delicious as well :)

I visited Saryo Tesshin with the idea of enjoying a Kyoto-style breakfast. Reservations are basically required by the day before. Breakfast is served from 8:00 a.m., and you can choose either a set breakfast menu priced at 6,000 yen or order soba à la carte. This time, I chose the 6,000-yen breakfast set. Overall, the dishes were carefully prepared and nicely presented, making it a pleasant and relaxed way to start the morning. Personally, I felt the grated yam (tororo) could have used a bit more soy sauce, but the duck soba was delicious, with a well-balanced and flavorful broth. Adding some of the duck soba broth to the tororo also worked surprisingly well and is something I would recommend trying. To be honest, the concept feels more geared toward international visitors than Japanese customers, but that does not necessarily detract from the experience. As a way to enjoy a slightly special, non-everyday breakfast in a Kyoto setting, it works well. If you are visiting Kyoto and want to start your day with a refined and leisurely breakfast, this is a solid option.

Having a meal here was an amazing experience from the first greeting to when we left the restaurant. Service was attentive and detail oriented. We got tatami mats for our cell phones 😝. Then the food is sooooo delicious! I had the Hot Daigo Soba set and my husband had the Blissful Kyoto duck steamed set. Both were soooo good! Don’t skip the buckwheat cake. It was so much yummier than it appears! I want to go back again and again!

Unique and relaxing atmosphere. Absolutely stunning decor, and great staff. Delicious soba and broth, 12/10. Strongly recommend this singular experience. We booked for 11 am to be sure it would be quiet, and it was.

Food was great, the design of the place was beautiful, relaxing vibe. Soba is gluten free and there was also a vegetarian option. The desert was really unique and tasty.

Really wonderful experience. The restaurant is beautiful with only 8 seats at a bar and we were lucky enough to be next to the koi pond. Food was excellent-based on noodles but bringing in other influences. Absolutely recommended
