I am 41 years old and have been coming to this restaurant since I was in middle school — nearly 30 years. It has always held a special place for me and my family, which makes this review especially disappointing to write.
Tonight, my husband, son, and I came in for dinner and had a large tab. While waiting for our table, we sat at the bar and ordered drinks. The beer menu sitting on the bar clearly listed the beer as $3. When our table was ready, we asked the bartender (who was actually the restaurant owner) to simply transfer the drinks to our dinner tab, and we were told that was fine.
When our bill arrived after dinner, the beers were listed incorrectly as a different (more expensive) beer. We politely pointed this out. The waiter initially dismissed it but eventually corrected the type of beer. However, even after the correction, the price was still wrong — the beers were charged at approximately $6 each instead of the $3 listed on the menu provided at the bar.
When my husband calmly approached the owner to clarify the pricing discrepancy, the situation escalated unnecessarily. The owner was extremely rude and raised her voice to the point that he had to walk away from the conversation. I then approached her myself to explain that the incorrect pricing was not our fault — the menus were sitting on the bar when we arrived. We did not bring them there. She responded by claiming they were “old menus,” but that responsibility lies with the restaurant, not the customer.
I understand it was Valentine’s Day and likely a busy evening. That does not justify speaking to loyal customers in a disrespectful manner over a clear pricing issue.
After 30 years of patronage, this was incredibly disappointing. Not because of a $3 price difference — but because of how it was handled. Respect and accountability matter. Unfortunately, this experience has ensured we will not be returning.
