Where To Eat Near Georgia Tech - Atlanta - The Infatuation

"Head to Satto Thai & Sushi on Marietta Street when your budget is tight but hunger is unbound. The aesthetic isn’t the draw here. The interior is so generic that we forget exactly what it looks like. Just know that'll have a cluster of Tech students and a mood that doesn't make you feel rushed here. What we like most about Satto are their huge, reasonably priced signature rolls, which could easily feed two or three people. Our favorite is the massive Optimistic roll with flash fried salmon, crab meat, jalapeño, and hot sauce." - demarco williams, juli horsford, nina reeder

Satto Thai and Sushi Bar - Review - West Midtown - Atlanta - The Infatuation

"If Satto Thai’s sushi were personified as a person, it would chug creatine and do two-a-days at the gym. That’s because their signature rolls are huge and could easily feed two or three people. So if you’re balling on a budget, head to Marietta Street on the Westside. Their soft psychedelic playlist and Tech students discussing their upcoming exam set the mood. But you won’t feel rushed here, and you could easily hang out for a few hours without being bothered. The aesthetic isn’t the draw–the interior is so generic that we’ve already forgotten exactly what it looks like. But do you really need decor to enjoy the massive Optimistic roll with flash fried salmon, crab meat, jalapenos, and hot sauce? We didn’t think so." - Juli Horsford

Google
Satto is my favorite restaurant in ATL. I love the Pad Thai, and the Massaman curry is so delicious I could eat it every day. The portions are large and the flavors are perfectly balanced and rich. The sushi is also amazing and the staff is always very welcoming and kind. They are fast with preparing pick up orders and always pack the to-go boxes very neatly. The atmosphere of the restaurant is also cute! Overall 11/10

Google
I wasn’t even that hungry but I ate the entire sushi roll cause it was so good The wasabi here was the best I ever tried and it was very spicy. Also the calamari was fantastic. Over all 10/10 experience.

Google
I visited Satto Thai and Sushi Bar near Georgia Tech on a Saturday night. It’s a cute, casual local spot with a cozy atmosphere — nothing fancy, but welcoming. We ordered the Penang Curry with tofu, Pad Thai with chicken, and Pad See Ew with beef. The beef was definitely the best protein — tender and juicy. The fried tofu was also tasty with a nice texture. The chicken in the Pad Thai was on the dry side, which was a bit disappointing. Service was friendly, and the portions were generous, which is always a plus. Overall, it’s not the best Thai food I’ve had, but it was solid and satisfying. A good option if you’re in the area and want something casual and filling.

Google
The food is incredible. This place is truly a hidden gem. Most people get their curries and rices - but this is easily the best Sushi place in Atlanta hands down.

Google
We thoroughly enjoyed our meal here! Will definitely be coming back again. The sushi was one of the best rolls I've had. The pepper steak was delicious. Also best pot stickers ever, they were perfectly crunchy! Service was good too.

Google
This was my first time visiting here; it is a nice restaurant with friendly staff. I ordered the curry soft shell crab which I’ve had at other establishments. The price was a bit high yet to be expected for soft shell crab dishes. This dish was good in taste and spice yet disappointing to spend $25 for one small soft shell crab that was cut into four pieces and service with 3 tempura asparagus and 3 tempura eggplant and other veggies that were cooked in the curry coconut sauce. I did expect at least two to three soft shell crabs however this expectation was based on my experience at other establishments. I will eat here again but will not order the soft shell crab because it’s not worth the price.

Google
I often order sushi here via Ubereats but they've recently increased the price of one sushi roll by over $5 to accommodate for a buy one get one deal they recently added to nearly every menu item. This puts customers who only want one item at a complete disadvantage. Also, their prices on the website menu do not reflect their current prices. If you call and order over the phone the total is significantly more. I order from this place once or twice a week and it's extremely disappointing it seems they are taking advantage of their customers. At least update your website so customers have accurate pricing.

This was a nice place to have lunch or dinner and chill. The food tasted great and we enjoyed sitting near the window to people watch. The music was nice and not too loud and our waitress was attentive and polite. The parking is free on the side for two hours which is plenty of time, just screenshot the qr scan code once you come inside. It wasn't very busy when we went on Saturday around 5:30ish. They are reasonable priced and we will return.🥰

Yelp
HA! Who said Satto isnt one of the best HH's On Marietta Street? Well it is. Went after work one evening and had a blast. The Pomegranate Martini still hits all the spots for greatness. I have been coming for years and realized I never reviewed it. MY BAD! Lol Parking is easy enough. Paid parking on the side of the building, I believe they gave us validation for parking, but dont quote me. Lol walked there alot too! So we ordered some of everything finally but those $7 Martinis kept coming. Lol I ordered different sushi rolls, shrimp app and edamame. The service was great even after it got crowded. Our waitress didnt forgot about us. When we first got there, it was fairy empty. Before we left it was packed and every table was full. Satto is always a staple and I am glad they survived the pandemic and able to still serve us! Thanks Satto! SYOY

Yelp
One of the best things to know about this restaurant is its proximity to Terminal West and they have a very friendly happy hour with drink specials and sushi and noodles specials. It worked well to be like small plates. We got the seared tuna, spicy tuna specialty roll, sashimi and udon noodles. They're happy hour options are for wine beer and liquor drinks. They provide 90 minutes of complimentary parking at the parking lot at the end of the block for the hotel and condo suites. Parking is handled through a QR code on a mobile app. Service was terrific. I really look forward to going back.

Yelp
My blue crab shrimp fried rice was so yummy with a good portion to match the price. I ordered in Ubereats and was still hot almost 45 minutes later.

Yelp
Thai food is one of my favorite dishes so I'm really picky when it comes to the quality and taste. I've only been able to find one place that I truly think is delicious when it comes to Thai & I will say Satto is a second contender. Food comes out fresh and is very flavorful. I wasn't able to capture a photo of the Crab Rangoons (Cream Cheese Rangoons) but they are a must order when ordering an appetizer! The size of the dish is portioned out well as they are very filling. I want to point out that they do validate 1.5 hours for parking. When you arrive at the lot, scan the QR codes that are on the signs & it will direct you to pay for parking. Before doing so, be sure to put in the promo code that you can find hanging up in the restaurant and at your table when you arrive

Yelp
Great food close to GA Tech! Great gluten free options, fast service. I can get in and out in 30 if prepared.

Yelp
For the last 2 years when I have come to ATL I have dined here. Last year I got a sushi roll (the name escapes me) Spring rolls Satto Basil fried rice Thai ice tea This year I was much more conscious of my appetite but not really because I my eyes were still bigger than my stomach. This year I got a sushi roll (the name escapes me) Shrimp & scallop fried rice (it was on special for the day) I enjoyed my food and next time I'm in the ATL...I'll pay them another visit Our server was very through...everything came out timely as not to overwhelm us. Sushi is always FRESH!!!! It's a small establishment but I've never felt crowded, rushed or ever had to wait to be seated. You have to pay to park but they do validate.

Yelp
I was perusing UberEats for some sushi. Specifically, I wanted a roll without rice. I almost ordered from one of my favorite tried and true spots, but their cucumber wrapped roll was a whopping $22. As I clicked around, I stumbled upon Satto. Now, normally, seeing 3 star reviews would completely deter me away. However, I decided to give them a chance since they had 4 different cucumber wrapped roll options and when I searched the Yelp reviews for these items specifically, they got good reviews. Also, their cucumber wraps were $12-$13. I went with the Mack Daddy Cucumber Roll as well as a Garden Salad. The presentation was okay-you could tell they tried to make them look nice, but the rolls were unraveling before I opened the box. When picking them up with my chopsticks, they were not very sturdy and were a challenge to eat, but I figure that's less to do with Satto and more to do with the territory of this item. I ended up using my hands which didn't help much better. Flavor-wise, they were okay. The fish just tasted decent quality. I feel like this roll could have been amped up in some way to be more exciting... My garden salad was standard and everything tasted fresh. Of course I can't speak on service or ambiance yet, as I ordered delivery. I'd be open to trying more items from here to see if my rating gets swayed in any way. For now: an okay 3 stars.

Bree S.

Yelp
Ordered in Uber eats. The lettuce on my salad is extremely dark. This lettuce is old. They tried it!

C.E. D.

Yelp
Used to give this place 4 stars but they recently raised their prices and now not sure its justifiable. Moreover, the menu prices online don't reflect raised prices so I was in for a rude awakening when I placed an order over the phone.
google avatar

Yelp
The two rolls i got were not that great. Bathroom and floors were not clean and waitress sat and ate in broadview of the guest. The negative review is based on it not beinf that clean if i can see the dirt in the front what is in the back of house
google avatar

Lily S.

Yelp
Other than the fact that the restaurant completely ignored my request for (1) Thai spicy for my Pad Thai, and (2) to include the hot sauces in the spice tray, the Pad Thai and the ground chicken basil were both good! Delicious and not overly oily like many other places. Will order again!

Yelp
We came here for a lunch with work colleagues and I had an amazing time. The food was good. The service was good. The prices were good. I got sesame chicken and fried rice, dumplings as an appetizer, with a Thai tea. My total was right at $35. Everything tasted amazing. The portions were good enough that I was full and didn't need to eat again until dinner. The restaurant was open and inviting. There are really big windows that look out onto the street and the area they are in is pretty. It's walking distance to a lot of other things as well, so if you're out and want to explore the area this is a good spot to stop at for food. Parking is just down the street and only a few dollars. The restaurant also validates. There is enough space in here for a group to eat comfortably. The decor is authentic and beautiful as well. You'll enjoy your experience here.

Yelp
The food was awesome ! I originally went there for the Thai tea but ended up getting food. The Thai tea was delicious ! I ordered the bagel roll, which exceeded my expectations. The spicy mayo sauce in it was delicious. Also ordered the drunken noodles with beef. This was so good and I definitely recommend if u want savory noodles. My date ordered this meal with spicy chicken and fried rice. That was also delicious. This restaurant has a causal ambiance and service was pretty decent. I would go here again

Yelp
Amazing! The food is delicious and there is a wide variety of foods to choose from. My partner and I got sushi and pad kee mao. the beauty dangerous roll is delicious and really big! the sashimi is also great quality. The pad kee mao was delicious and they offer a variety of spice levels, for those that are bad with spice and those that love lots of it! I like the decoration of the place, and it is not too loud. Good service and parking is validated for an hour in a lot right by the restaurant!

Yelp
Went here on March 18, 2023 With a party of 8 very small space. Dinner service was ok I had the chicken fried rice and it was good. Very flavorful and tasty. The problem with this place is parking . The lot next door was chained closed and the parking lot to the left of space was a pay lot and it was 5.75 for 2 hours. Then I got to the door and there was a sign there instead of on the gat with a code for a free hour of parking so 2.87 wasted. Also in the middle of dinner an employee walked thru the dining room with the trash. I would recommend waiting until after closing to take the trash out cause that was a real bad look.
google avatar

Natalie R.

Yelp
I ordered from here through Ubereats and the food was great. I got the fresh basil rolls (the peanut sauce was so good), the Mack Daddy Cucumber wrap roll and mango sticky rice. The only reason I did 4 stars instead of 5 is because usually a cucumber wrapper sushi roll would come with a ponzu sauce and they just gave soy sauce. Also the mango sticky rice was a smaller portion than I would've expected. Other than that, everything tasted fresh and traveled well!

Yelp
This place is absolutely amazing! I've come here for sushi numerous times with my girlfriend. The sushi is absolutely delicious with a great range of options and prices. You won't find a better sushi place, especially in terms of portion sizes and quality. We have always shared 2 sushi rolls and it's been the perfect amount of food. If you're looking for a very sweet treat, the Thai Iced Tea is delicious! I've never had a single issue with the service. They don't have a huge staff, but it's also a small restaurant so it balances out. We've never had to wait long to put in our order, and the food has always come out quickly.

Amanda W.

Yelp
The food and service was great. The best part was the atmosphere- low key, chill music and drinks.

Yelp
Located in The Georgia Techh neighborhood of Atlanta, it seems like this would be a place all the college kids would go to. The interior is welcoming and it's definitely good for groups. Although I ordered for pick up, I would definitely recommend people to come and sit down here. I ordered the coconut soup with mushrooms. Would 100% get again. It was creamy and tangy and truly was so comforting after a long day at work. I got the Basel fried rice with tofu, it was okay. I was looking for that basil flavor to come thru more, instead there was a weird aftertaste I did not like. My favorite was the tiramisu - it was cutely packaged and delicious.
google avatar

Melissa R.

Yelp
This place is not good at all . The pad Thai was soggy and poorly seasoned, they also did not provide any spices like chili oil to the order .. The sushi was alright but nothing to go out of your way for. Overall I would not recommend Plus side is that there is free parking
google avatar

Jamie K.

Yelp
Great little spot in my neighborhood. i have run past here several times, but it never looked crowded. That is because they open at 5, and I run in the morning lol. Food was great and the drinks were not overpriced, like most places in Atlanta these days. There are many Thai places in Atlanta, add this one to your list.
google avatar

Allicia S.

Yelp
Great soup and creative sushi presentation to give recognition to this Georgia Tech neighborhood restaurant. I loved the combination of salmon and Tuna in and on top of my Beauty Dangerous sushi roll. The lemon grass infused soup with shiitake mushrooms and spices was equally pleasing. The three star rating was due to lackluster lychee martini as what I received did not meet expectations. Also my companions drunken noodles did not have the wide noodles he desired despite sharing details to server of what he desired. Server later shared that these were the Thai noodles that most restaurants served in Atlanta. Although this provided background, still did not justify placing order if knew this option was not desired. Overall the quality of food was good, and appeared to be a staple in the GT community. Would return for sushi.

Yelp
Satto has fresh sushi and sashimi. My wife and I dine their at least twice a month because all of their meals are delicious, they accommodate her gluten allergies, and their prices are reasonable. Two thumbs up!!

Yelp
I came here with a friend for dinner. The restaurant is dimly lit and has a very casual ambience. Service is good, your food comes out relatively quick. Sometimes the waiter isn't looking but you just need to wave at them when you need something. I ordered the beauty dangerous roll and my friend got the masaman curry. We also shared spring rolls. The spring rolls were mediocre. They were crunchy, but also super hot so be careful not to burn your tongue. The filling was so bland and reminded me of the frozen ones you can buy at the supermarket and fry up yourself. For $6, the springs rolls are not worth it, they are small and you only get 3. To my surprise, our other two dishes were very sweet. The masaman curry being sweet is understandable but I didn't expect the sushi to also be sweet. Even though the taste was unexpected, the sushi wasn't bad. The fish was pretty fresh and the roll itself looked good. However for the price ($16), I'm not sure if I would get it again because I couldn't taste the nuanced flavor of fish at all since the sweet soy sauce flavored overpowered everything else. The masaman curry was also lackluster. Besides the tender meat, everything else was disappointing. The curry was too sweet, and the carrots and potatoes were undercooked and tough to eat. I wasn't impressed by the thin slices of avocado that were randomly added on top as a garnish either. The worst part about getting food from places near campus is the fact that you know the dishes will be overpriced, but the quality won't necessarily match that price. Make sure to double check the price of the dish you order. On the menu it said the curry was $11 so my friend was surprised to see that it was $17 when we got the bill. I probably won't come back because there are better options for Asian cuisine nearby that are tastier and cheaper.

Yelp
A baby roach left my husband's plate. When I informed the staff she said she didn't see it. I have been coming here for years, very disappointed.

Yelp
Salmon crunch roll: 2I don't like t'empota white cheese too sweet. Chicken with three flavor sauce 3: the flavor sauce tasted alright but meat inside is a bit rough The middle one with salmon(I guess) 5: is really good Dragon shrimp fried rice 4.5: rice with sauce is amazing, dragon shrimp is crispy very good. Rice itself without sauce is so so. Satto Chicken 3.5: tasted like fish, crunchy part are pretty good, but parts in the middle are not crunchy Tarantula (spider roll) 3:味道一般,可点可不点 Tom Yum Soup 2: 不是我喜欢的味道,居然有香菜啊啊啊

Yelp
I was with a large group of people and the food came out pipping hot for everyone. My pad Thai, hands down, was the best I've ever had. Everyone at my table loved their dishes as well.

Megan S.

Yelp
I paid $25.05 and added a $2 tip that's completed and they charged me AGAIN this morning for $25. So they got over $50 out of me and I paid for $25 of food. Extra random charges. Why would my payment be completed and then they'd charge me again this morning? Are they trying to scam people .Never eating here again. What if I needed that money to get to work this morning ? They don't open until 11:30 and even then refunds take 3-5 BUSINESS days . Took my money and I got nothing from it .
google avatar

Yelp
Uber eats service for meal to the office Order is always prepared and provided to me on time. Taste is great, Can not attest to environment or anything inside or even customer service

Yelp
I don't know if it's a southern thing but I legit never had sushi this big before! Wow we ordered 4 different rolls in addition to our entrees and to be honest the sushi alone would have been enough to fill us up. The size is one thing but the taste and flavor was another, it was all so good. We had: beauty dangerous roll, ambitious roll, eruption roll, and double x roll as well as an order of Satto rice and Sesame Chicken which ended up being delicious together and enough for two hungry-a$$ adults to eat for 2 days. We ordered via door dash so have no idea what the ambiance or vibe is but the food speaks for it all, delicious!!!
google avatar

Yelp
Yesterday was my first time eating here based on a co-worker recommendation. OMG! This is by far was the best tasting, fresh succulent sushi I have ever had. Hands down!!!!!! I definitely will patronize many times over again. YUM!!!
google avatar

Alicia C.

Yelp
Great food for a certain time/vibe. They're good for cheap late night eats. It's college/younger crowd. The waiters can be hard to flag down but also there's not a ton of them compared to how many customers they have, so it makes sense. The food is actually really fresh. We got the spring rolls and a sushi combo! They were decent portions and the sushi combo comes with miso soup and salad. I used to come here all the time in my freshman year of college, took a break from it, but was recently reminded of how wonderful it was. Would definitely return again sometime soon.

Yelp
My husband and I order from here regularly. The food is fantastic. The quality is good. I especially love the coconut soup.

Yelp
I can for sure say that I'm a sushi snob and I'm super picky when it comes to my sushi. Tried this restaurant via my favorite: DoorDash and had the fried rice and spring rolls. Decided to pick up my eats today and be a little more adventurous. Like most of the restaurants in the area parking is either street parking or a garage that's a couple of blocks away. The restaurant wasn't too packed but they seemed busy with our take out orders. I decided to go with the spring rolls and the eruption roll. It took almost 25-30 minutes for my order to be ready. The spring rolls [ i ate one before taking a pic] were bomb. Crispy and full of flavor. Definitely a must have if you dine here. The eruption roll was amazing. I had them add cream cheese and it didn't need anything extra. My only complaint is that the sushi seems to fall sort pretty quickly which makes it hard to eat with chopsticks. I've had the double x roll tempura style and it wasn't my cup of tea. The tempura wasn't fried properly and the sushi just fell apart. All in all, if I'm in the mood for some sushi or Thai food. I'll be coming to Satto.
google avatar

Madeline M.

Yelp
Love their egg fried rice and Thai tea! Good atmosphere and they validate parking as well. Not a huge fan of their meat options though.

Yelp
Food was delicious and service was great. Chill restaurant with good food. Only negative is the location is not super nice.

Yelp
writing this for the thai food specifically-- i've been coming to satto thai since i was a freshman at GT! it's right off campus and has super reasonable prices. they used to have a $1 sushi roll deal but i think that ended. i always get the chicken pad thai--it's a huge portion for $13. today i got takeout and it was prepared very fast and was hot when i picked it up. honestly the takeout is easily 2 or 3 portions--i will be having it for tomorrow lunch and dinner too lol. as for the taste, i've definitely had better (being from the bay area). the flavor is a bit off but i mean for the portion and price i'm definitely satisfied with it. my friend got the sushi--california roll i think was $6 for 10 pieces which is a very reasonable price. you definitely get what you pay for-i've seen someone say that it's kind of like supermarket sushi lol. a lot of rice and just okay. i wouldn't come back for the sushi but i'll definitely come back if i want some cheap thai food :)

Yelp
Satto is located a short walk from Georgia Tech and offers a somewhat unusual mix of Sushi and Thai food. One the one hand yet get bold, spicy flavors from Thai and then the other extreme of lighter, fresh sashimi and sushi. The combination works for me, so 5 stars accounting for overall food quality, generous portions and ridiculously affordable prices! What's in your Bento box? For just under $13, I got the following: 1. 3-pieces of sashimi 2. 3-pieces nigiri 3. 4-piece California Roll 4. Miso soup loaded with tofu and seaweed 5. Bowl of white rice 6. Bowl of Masaman Chicken Curry to enjoy with said rice In the Bay Area where I'm from, $13 won't even get you half of that! Best of all, the fish was fresh and my only ding is the rice a bit colder and denser than I liked. But for the price I paid, I can overlook it. The curry itself was rich and flavorful. Definitely recommend coming here for good and cheap eats!
google avatar

Alexander D.

Yelp
Make sure you give them directions on how spicy you want your pad Thai to add that special kick to it. Also the calamari is a must because it comes with an amazing dipping sauce. Ideal for takeout and not as much dine in (personal opinion).

Soyini C.

Yelp
The food was mediocre and the service was lousy. one server for the entire restaurant. This is the second time I've had a bad experience here. They've gone down

Yelp
Was craving thai food and this place was 5 minutes from georgia tech campus! Super spacious parking lot and plenty of seating for big parties! Highly recommend the chicken pad thai, the portion was huge for $13.00 and one of the best ones in the atlanta area. It is on the sweeter side, so if you don't like that, you might not enjoy it as much. The sushi and special rolls were also worth mentioning. If you are indecisive like me, I recommend the sushi bento box where you still get an entree with sushi and soup, therefore you can to try a little bit of everything. The beauty dangerous roll and magic dragon roll were also delicious and I will definitely be going back to try more of the menu. The customer service was fast and pleasant and the server makes great recommendations. Overall, a solid place for a quick lunch or a dinner date!

Yelp
I have been to Satto many times for lunch and the food is always good enough for a return visit. Last night we ordered to-go and there was shellfish in my Chicken Masaman Curry. I'm allergic to shellfish and having a bad day now. Will not go back, bad food practices.
google avatar

Media M.

Yelp
The food is still good after all these years! Ordered the Sexy Roll, pineapple duck, coconut shrimp, pepper steak and basil satto fried rice. Everything came out fresh and amazing

Heldanna S.

Yelp
One thing I really dislike is the 20% tip being automatically added to the check and then they ask for an additional gratuity. I ordered the chicken massaman curry bento box and the curry part came with so many onions and barely any chicken or even curry itself, which was quite disappointing. The food was delicious but I don't think it was worth the price.

Yelp
This place has amazing Thai food, exceptional service, and is in a beautiful building downtown Atlanta. For parking - either use their valet or park in the parking garage across the street.

The OMG sushi roll was really big but it wasn't one of my favorites. The curry Was delicious and the fried rice was very good. I like the crab Rangoon they were wrapped in egg roll wraps. I will definitely eat here again and try may be a different type of sushi roll

Yelp
I got the Masaman Curry and I was amazed... best I've ever had and i've tried several from other Thai places. They get the sweetness just right and it packs flavor without being overly salty. I also got the Bella-Saurus roll which is most definitely enough food for one person and standard to good quality sushi - no complaints. Spring rolls were great as well! I ordered pickup through Grubhub and my order was ready on time and there was no wait! This is my go-to Thai spot!

Yelp
Ordered sushi on door dash best sushi I ever had delivered. The rice was super moist and sticky. The spicy mayo and eel sauce are amazing. I also had curry that was super delicious as well.

Yelp
Service was quick and staff was very accommodating during my visit. Shrimp fried rice was great with some chili old added to kick up the flavor. I love a little spicy with all my meals.
