The Best Places to Eat and Drink in Summit County, Colorado, Breckenridge | Eater Denver

"Diners need reservations at this Italian spot, especially on the weekends. It’s here that everyone flocks for crispy Brussels sprouts, fritti eggplant towers, and red sauce dishes like spaghetti and meatballs. The food is good but it’s the friendly vibe and the bar that functions like a well-oiled machine that really draws the crowds. Those who can’t get in can stop by for lunch and on summer days sit outside on the patio by the Blue River." - Amanda Faison

Google
We enjoyed our meal at this nice sit-down Italian restaurant. I would especially recommend the fried calamari! It was crispy and well-seasoned and there was a lot of calamari. The service was friendly and the dining environment was nice too. They were super busy when we went!

Trung Tran

Google
A great little Italian place in Silverthorne with a beautiful outdoor seating area. Food was delicious, and staff was nice and attentive. The fried calamari and fried ravioli were fantastic apps. A family portion of pasta will get you twice as much food at a reasonable price.

Maybe we came on a bad day, because we had a very disappointing experience. Maybe the staff was over-extended? The hostess looked mad and annoyed when she sat us. It took 15 minutes just to get our drinks. Our server seemed to have a very large amount of tables and didn't have much time to do a proper job. I got the Ravioli of the day which was lobster and shrimp. The ravioli was gummy, I did not taste any shrimp, and could only see maybe see a teaspoon of lobster (I think it was lobster??) in each ravioli. For a $44 plate of food it was extremely disappointing. It was plated nicely, but the best thing on my plate was the brussel sprouts. My kids didn't eat their kids meals so since I was still hungry I ate some of their kids meal chicken parm. I liked the kids meal better. The atmosphere was beautiful with flowering baskets next to the river. I don't blame the server for my experience, she tried to offer free dessert but by the end of the meal I wanted to just leave. We were not offered any other discounts. I didn't ask for one, but we did tell the server the food was disappointing. If you are going to charge fine dining prices, the food should be better than Olive Garden.

Google
Casual but upscale place right in the river. Puppy friendly. Decent wine list. Menu leans Italian but with other features. Busy place, reservations recommended. Friendly service, reasonable pricing. Recommend.

Google
On vacation and decided to give this Italian restaurant a try with my family. We had no wait and were seated right away, we decided to go out to the patio. (Puppy friendly for those who need to know) They also had a singer playing the guitar for the customers. Our waitress was called Shorty B and she took our orders and continuously checked in with us to make sure everything was great. She was wonderful! We tried several dishes and the food was delicious! From their Chicken Parmesan to Garlic Cheese Bread. My kid and I also loved their Salmon!! If you’re in Silverthorne stop by for some amazing Italian food!

Google
We were craving pasta and had read some good reviews about this place. So we made reservations and gave it a shot. The atmosphere was great as it was right next to the Blue River. Our server was friendly and did a good job. Parking was a nightmare. Pretty much luck of the draw dependant upon catching someone leaving. The food wasn't any better than Olive Garden, in my opinion. I feel like you can tell a lot about an Italian restaurant with the type of Parmesan they have to offer. When it is the dry shakeable type and not freshly grated, I kind of wonder. Maybe I just ordered the wrong meal (Penne alla Vodka). Anyway, it wasn't bad, just not that great.

Google
Sooooo good! Pizza decent, nothing wrong with it. I’d give it a 7.4 lol. But the pasta dishes man!!! All soooo good. Just all N all a great place for Italian and the coolest bar iv ever seen!!!! I’d go just for drinks too. Can’t wait to go back!

Noelle Marozeau

Google
I have been there a couple of times and I love it for several reasons, the food is good, the service is super friendly and we were given a Yurt for our party at no extra cost! It was fun. The eggplant tower was great. The pasta I had was very good, but I have to warn you that the portions are large, so if your appetite is small, make sure you share or be ready to take some home.

Yelp
My husband and I ate here while celebrating our 20 year wedding anniversary. The atmosphere was calm and authentic. The food was amazing! I highly recommend the buffalo ravioli. We ate outside and walked right out on the path alongside the river after enjoying our meal. I will always remember my 20 year wedding anniversary dinner at the Sauce on the Blue We were served by Jay. He was very attentive, knowledgeable and personable.

Yelp
My husband and I recently had a lovely dinner at this Italian eatery. The space is warm and inviting, highlighting an impressive bar that displays more than a story high of bottles filled with liquors. The atmosphere is pleasant, with a nice balance of rustic and industrial charm. If you want a little privacy, the restaurant offer outdoor yurts. The place was very busy on a Sunday night, and we were glad we had made a reservation earlier that day. Our waitress wasn't particularly friendly, maybe a little overworked, but the food made up for it. Everything we tasted was delicious, and you don't want to miss the Tiramisu for dessert! This spot is one of our new favorites when in town!

Yelp
I'm sorry but I will be honest. I had the penne al la vodka, because others said it was awesome.. not tonight! It was bland . The chicken was small cubes of overcooked chicken . The tomatoes and spinach were a nice touch .. tomatoes should have been smaller. Sorry but the best part of the meal was the beer!
google avatar

Yelp
We went on the early side and got in without a reservation and were lucky enough to sit outside with a view of the river. All the staff were super friendly and professional and the food was delicious.

Marcia B.

Yelp
We loved the family dish concept. The trout dinner was delicious and we started with the mussels were enough for the 3 of us. Service was excellent. They were quite busy but the staff was always available.
google avatar

Yelp
After hitting the slopes this restaurant hits the spot. We shared plates but here is what I ordered. Penne pasta ala vodka with chicken. Spinach and tomatos with a delicious sauce was excellent. 10/10 Ended with a good dessert, cookies and cream gelato. 10/10. We shared the linguini and clams, buffalo (meat) ravioli with brussel sprouts and a carnivoro pizza all were sensational. Our server Marijah took great care of us giving us excellent recommendations she personally has had.

Allyson C.

Yelp
The food was delicious. A little bit overpriced, but it hit the spot. The service was mediocre. The hostess in particular was rude, and the server was okay. Love the outdoor seating option... Lovely environment. Also appreciated the gluten free and veggie noodle options.

Yelp
Great restaurant, very welcoming and it feels very local. Awesome whiskey selection, and really enjoyed the food too. Loved the service, sat at the bar and the bartenders are super attentive. Ordered the cheesy bread and the rib eye. Wanna come back for all the pizza and pasta dishes. It's a staple in town so a great place for drinks after a day on the slopes

Yelp
I'm not sure what was better, the view, the food, or the company. Wait, who am I kidding? Of course the company was best, but the food and the view... incredible! This experience was amazing, from start to finish. We opted to sit outside by the trickling creek/river? What do I know, I live in LA! Either way, it was simply beautiful as we watched the clouds roll in. It felt like perfect weather to order some hearty pastas, which did not disappoint. While I did not try the pastas at the table, I can vouch that the Spicy Shrimp Fra Diavlo is one of the best I have had. My mom made a superb lobster version and I can honestly say that this came close, no disrespect to the woman who was a culinary genius. Emily was our server and she was beyond friendly and efficient. Did efficiency matter? Yes it did, as the rolling clouds quickly turned into a downpour of rain. Wine sipped, pasta devoured, and on to our next adventure. The atmosphere here is just perfect, the food is great, and the memories ever lasting. Parking is ample and free (unheard of where I come from). Take a walk along the path that follow the running water. It's beautiful. Go here. Eat here. Drink here. Enjoy your time with friends cuz life is short!

Yelp
5/5 stars for sure. 100% worth the fuse and the drinks and the pizza, pasta, salads !!! Loved every minute of my brunch. The staff was super friendly. They have a very large drink section and both indoor and outdoor seating. outdoor seating overlooking river and you just can't beat that. They have a stage where they probably do some live music. When in the Dillon/Silverthorn area, you must try this spot
google avatar

Allison S.

Yelp
This restaurant has an amazing bar and it is the best thing about Sauce on the Blue. They have an extensive selection of bourbon/whiskey and their wine list / cocktails do not disappoint either. The food is good, but it is severely overpriced - even compared to most restaurants in Summit County. A simple pasta dish (for 1) is between $30-$50 and that is for fettucine alfredo with chicken - a simple dish. I would try it if you are nearby and want a "nicer" dinner, but be cognizant of the prices going in...
google avatar

Scott L.

Yelp
Ambiance but no music. A little Sinatra would have set the mood, but, riverside dining Al fresco doesn't get much better. Taylor supplied excellent, friendly, efficient service with excellent food, fresh and perfectly seasoned. High class place $50 before tip got me three glasses of house white, caprese salad, rotini and sausage, and fried raviolis....During Happy Hour?! Wow!
google avatar

Samantha S.

Yelp
This place was amazing! It's right on the river when is cool even at nighttime. The ambiance is really nice too! I ordered the gluten free Alfredo which was full of flavor. My family ordered the vodka pasta and said it was the best!! Service was also great. Fun for a large group!
google avatar

Briana N.

Yelp
This place can get pretty busy so try to make a reservation if you can! And it's reasonably busy! The sauteed mussels are so good, especially the pesto cream sauce they come in. All of the pasta is delicious too. Our server recommended the rigatoni & sausage, but my personal favorite of the night would probably be the penne alla vodka. The penne alla gorgonzola is also really good (although unique with the grapes), but you have to really love gorgonzola because the flavor is strong. The serving sizes are pretty decent too. The (pretty) bowls are kind of deceiving, it holds more than you think. That being said, if two or three of your party want the same dish, the family sized dish is so worth it.

Yelp
We made a reservation as my fiancé had been in the area a few weeks back and remembered it being packed for dinner. We had a reservation for 6:15 pm on a Friday night. We got there right on time and was sat right away. the hostesses and our waitress were super friendly and very quick to clean up plants and fill our waters. we started with the bruschetta - it came out pretty quickly and was super tasty. The shaved Parmesan and the balsamic they use are so good! We ate up the whole plate. I ordered one of the nightly specials - lobster & shrimp ravioli and it came with Brussel sprouts. I asked for no prosciutto on it (although it would've been great if I wasn't doing a pescatarian diet!). It was a little pricey so I was nervous to see if it would be worth it. We waited a little longer for our entrees but once they arrived - it did not disappoint. We both got single portions of our pastas (my fiancé got the spaghetti margarita). And they were HUGE portions!! The ravioli was cooked perfectly. And plenty of sauce and more of that balsamic and shaved parm that I enjoyed from the bruschetta was drizzled on top. The Brussels were delicious. Big pieces and cooked very crispy. My fiancé helped me finish my dish but we ate all our food. It was definitely worth it!!

Derek H.

Yelp
Sauce on the Blue is a great little Italian place in Silverthorne. Loved the salmon, meatballs & pizza. Drinks were creative and mixed well. Service great. We'll be back.
google avatar

Yelp
Everything was fantastic! We got the scallops as an app (only picture I took because I was so hungry and forgot) the scallops had an amazing flavor profile! I got the filet which was cooked a perfect medium. My friends got the penne ala vodka and they loved it only comment was that one who added shrimp it only had 4 little Shrimp which was alittle disappointing but flavor was delicious. Our server Alex was awesome he answered a bunch of questions about the food and wine for us! It was beautiful inside they have a beautiful alcohol wall which was very fun to look at during dinner.
google avatar

Yelp
I appreciate sauce on the blue...Great food, great employees & even better tiramisu.!

Yelp
Amazing selection of whisky and some really great pizza! I make a point to stop by every time i am in town
google avatar

Isaac A.

Yelp
We got one kids meal of butter noodles that was eaten and a family bowl of chicken Alfredo. Everyone liked the Alfredo and I enjoyed some beer on tap. The volume was just right and we didn't have leftovers. We are inside and the wait staff was good and attentive.

Yelp
This place is absolutely delicious!! If you are looking for amazing food, this place is the spot to go to! We did not have reservations so put our name down, and had about 30 minutes to explore the neighboring shops and even found a little Christmas market with booths from local businesses and live music (yay)!! Their menu offers a wide variety of salads, pastas, pizzas (wood fired), and a full bar! We ordered the bruschetta to start which was a nice little snack. For entrees we ordered the rigatoni and sausage (highly recommended by our server), wild mushroom pizza (with added pepperoni), and the penne alla vodka. Let me tell you, the pasta was incredible! I would go back for their rigatoni again and again! They also a handful of adorable little outdoor igloo inspired dining tents where you can dine outside in a private seating area. It is such a good idea (especially for a snow town). I would highly recommend this place over and over again for the food alone! If we had more time during our visit, I would have went here again - it was that good!

Mallory B.

Yelp
We love this little pizza place. It is such a nice place during the summer and early fall , because of the gorgeous patio space that is available for dining. The food is always spectacular. We come here every time we are in town for dinner!
google avatar

Tes S.

Yelp
Little beauty right outside of Leadville. This spot is on the river, had a great drink selection and a seafood-esque menu. Their pasta and pizza menu is exceptional but their protein menu was on the smaller side. Loved the view and overall vibe!
google avatar

Kristen W.

Yelp
This restaurant is located along the river and has a nice view by the windows. Service was pleasant in our food was served quickly. We had an enjoyable lunch here while staying in Silverthorne. The eggplant stack appetizer was not my favorite. Maybe I missed it, but I was not expecting it to be fried. I found it under seasoned and boring. On the other hand the Italian sandwich was quite good. Wine is very reasonably priced, which was refreshing . We enjoyed a bottle with our lunch. I would eat here again
google avatar

Joe R.

Yelp
Just finished up a bike ride and stopped in for lunch out on the patio with a group. Big selection of pastas and sandwiches. The chicken parm sandwich was very good with pasta salad. Our server was working several tables but gave us good attention and service. Nice location on the river.
google avatar

Yelp
We stopped in for dinner after flying into Denver and then driving up to Steamboat Springs. Generally speaking a reservation is a good idea but they were able to seat us at the bar. We split a pizza which was very good. I find pizza very subjective. This is a thin crust style that is lite on sauce. If you like a lot of sauce, ask for extra. Really nice atmosphere. They have a small amount of indoor restaurant seating, small amount of high top tables in the bar area and a good amount of outdoor seating next to the Blue River. Next time we'll make a reservation and sit outdoors

Yelp
Absolutely fantastic dinner! Glen (or Glenn), Deb , and Emily were wonderfully friendly, caring, and skilled in the art of hospitality. See photos. Sitting in the Yurt was a unique, cozy, dining experience. The food? Memorable, really. Everything was fresh tasting, served at the proper temperature, well-plated, a good size portion, and delicious. Best pizza in Summit County! The ravioli was yummy, as was the minestrone soup. The Chicken Parmesan was a large portion, which was perfectly fried, and tender, with a great sauce. Highly recommend! The green beans, as simple as green beans can be, were great. Key lime pie for dessert is a must have if you like Key lime pie. Thanks Glen for your kindness in taking my reservation at the last minute for seven of us and putting us in the Yurt, which was a memorable experience. Thanks Deb for your warm greeting on our arrival and seating us so promptly. And, big thanks to Emily who was the perfect server, with an engaging smile and personality, and a great sense of timing in terms of food delivery. This is my fifth or sixth trip to the Summit County area in the last four years. Hands-down this is the best restaurant in the area that I have eaten at during that time period. Three cheers to the entire staff ... and I don't want to overlook the chef and kitchen folks. Nicely done!

Yelp
*CELIAC / GLUTEN FREE REVIEW tons of GF options, and the GF pasta is boiled in a separate pot! The texture is amazing and almost exactly like the real thing. plus, it is a beautiful location both inside and out; right next to a river. We shared the caprese to start (yum) and I got the rigatoni & sausage as my main course. while it lacked some of the depth I was hoping, it was still a good meal.

Devin B.

Yelp
Best place in Silverthorne. No question. Food is amazing. Bourbon wall is even better.
google avatar

Yelp
Beautiful property near the Silverthorne outlets. Walking in and seeing the décor in the dining room, it was super beautiful with floor to ceiling liquor cabinet and my favorite sliding bookshelf ladders on the back bar... just overall a good open space for dining in. Seeing that everyone was sitting outside, normally not an outside sitter, we decided to sit outside. The table were right next to the river with gorgeous fall foliage and a small pedestrian bridge right by the restaurant. There was a small wait when we first walked in and I only saw maybe 2 wait staff running around outside - figured they might be busy with serving lunch and was greeted shortly after with Brooke after we were seated. All the food looked so good and we had decision paralysis... so Brooke really stepped in and recommended a few things for us. We decided to go with the Brussel Sprouts app, the Pasta Margarita with chicken and a side of marinara (Brooke's favorite), the Carnivore Pizza and a bottle of the Montepulciano. Everything was so delicious, the crust of the pizza was so crispy but the rest of the pizza was chewy and delicious. Everything were super tasty and Brooke provided amazing service, she really took care of us. I'd highly recommend to check out their properties as they have other Blue restaurants in other mtn towns. I'd def be back when I'm in the area again, great food, ambiance and amazing service! Thank you for a fun time!

Yelp
Was our first time and Will definitely dine here again. Good and service was five star !

Bobby B.

Yelp
Terrible example of an Italian restaurant. Side salads were not fresh, had been pre-prepared and stored in the fridge. Then the salad was drowned in dressing. Bread was good, but dipping sauce was about 1 cup of olive oil and some herbs which could not even be tasted. Ordered spaghetti for $28 and received pasta that was hard and not cooked enough, with 2 meat balls that were large but tasted mostly of "fill," and the marinara was tasteless!! Tasted like crushed tomatoes and that was it. I guess we should have ordered a pizza!!
google avatar

Chris P.

Yelp
Perfect ski place. Friends. Family. Easy. Laidback Shared a pizza. Some fried artichokes and good wine. Can't beat it. Not crap resort food. Worthy.

Scott M.

Yelp
Always our go to restaurant in Silverthorne. Get a group and commit to a yurt. The owners are very personable and service is fantastic.

Yelp
Another review for this beautiful place in Summit County. Last night, great atmosphere with the staff, Jane, Gayle and Brandon. Good vibes, Jane makes the best mezcal drinks in the county and she is just awesome.

Kevin G.

Yelp
This is a must if you're looking for a good dinner in Silverthorne!! Foood is always good and the food is the best !!

Yelp
Happy to report that Sauce on the Blue is just as good as it used to be! Lots of different lunch options. Everything was absolutely delicious, and the service was very attentive and quick. Nice and cozy atmosphere inside, plenty of parking! Highly recommend it if you are in the area.
google avatar

McKenna S.

Yelp
Food was phenomenal! From the appetizers to the Bolognese, it was flawless. Ambience was perfect with outdoor seating by the river! Only reason I am not giving five stars is because of our server Angela. She didn't check in on us once or ask how our food/if we wanted anything else. The service was very dismissive, and we had to wait 20 minutes to even ask for the bill. I will definitely be back for the food even if I have to deal with crappy service, because everything else was great!
google avatar

Asher W.

Yelp
Absolutely love Sauce on the Blue. We stop in occasionally on a cold night for dinner and the place is always hoppin. Locals know its one of the best spots in town. The service is always great. Our waitress last week was spectacular and we chatted all about her ukranian roots. She made us feel very welcomed and was very attentive. Highly recommend sitting at the bar while you wait. They make great cocktails and the bar design is super cool and nicely lit. Once we sat down for dinner we had the fried artichokes and bruschetta and kale salad. The artichoke portion was huge and the kale salad is one of our go to dishes. Lemony and delicious. For mains we had the fish and two pastas. I had the linguine fra diavola which was great. Nice kick of spice and the shrimp were cooked perfectly. If you don't like spicy the dish isn't for you. All the more for me. Will be back very soon.
google avatar

Steph A.

Yelp
Wow! This place is INCREDIBLE. Everything thing we got was amazing. Our server was also a boss - she was doing everything! They heard we just got engaged and brought us champagne and even the owner came over to talk with us and say congrats! We started with the mussels and the caprese. The mussels were in a pesto sauce that was mind blowing. The caprese came with TWO burratas. For dinner, I ordered the Ravioli Special, which was lobster and shrimp in a vodka cream sauce. It was SO good. We also got the chicken parm and linguine with clams. Everything was great. For dessert we got the Tiramisu. 5 layer chocolate cake and cheesecake. There was not one thing we ordered that we weren't incredibly impressed with. Now I just need to go back and try more! I can't say enough good things, if you're in the area - check it out. Make sure to make a reservation though!
google avatar

Tom K.

Yelp
Sauce on the Blue is a great spot for dining and happy hour when you're in the mood for a nice meal. I recommend reservations because it's a special place. I suggest you plan an earlier arrival because parking, though plentiful, fills up.
google avatar

Franc B.

Yelp
2nd time eating here in 2 years. We travel from CA and spend 14 days here in Summit Co. Although this year was about half that. So, we chose our dining out places carefully. Sauce has been great 2x in a row for us. Portions are large. A 4-person Family Style Bowl is perfect for our family of four people. The Rigatoni with Sausage is incredible! Something about their sauce. Bourbon list goes on for pages, literally. Wine list is curated perfectly. Our server was very good. The space is built out perfect. Very open and hip. Outside seating is next to the river. Would definitely return! Just wish they'd expand and make Sauce on the Beach in California! Or Sauce in the Vineyard.
google avatar

Sarah L.

Yelp
While enjoying a ski vacation, we decided to give Sauce on the Blue a try. The moment we walked in we felt the cozy, charming ambiance. You can order family size portions which is perfect when you are trying to feed 3 teenage boys! Linguine alla Pescatore was the family favorite with not a single noodle left to spare! The Calamari Fritti was a much larger portion than expected and delicious! Outside there are several private yurts that can be reserved for dining that look adorable! We will be making reservations for one of those next time. The server did mention there is a food and beverage minimum of $300 for anyone wanting the same experience! We would definitely recommend Sauce on the Blue!
google avatar

Katie C.

Yelp
Our waiter Jay was so nice and attentive! The food was pretty good. I loved the clam chowder. Penne alla vodka was good but wish there were at least 4 scallops (life goes on). All in all I'd go back!
google avatar

Kristina K.

Yelp
Sauce never disappoints. Trout perfectly cooked. Our difficulty is in not getting too many of the wonderful appetizers. Brussels and Artichokes are our favorites.

Jason W.

Yelp
Had a hearty Italian meal in a yurt. Great service and a good meal. Would come again
google avatar

Scott R.

Yelp
Sauce on the Blue (SOB) was recommended to the Syndicate primarily due to the selection of bourbon. It was also reported that the food was excellent. So, headed into our evening, our expectations were high. We had a 7:30 reservation and upon checking in, were seated immediately. The drinks we ordered were also served quickly and were as expected. All our dinners came out in roughly 20 minutes. Every entree was quite delicious. Expect to pay more than average but it's worth the extra coin!

Steven S.

Yelp
YES! GO FOR LUNCH OR DINNER! GO!!! Out here visiting for the week and we ended going back many times through the week. It was absolutely fantastic every time we went. We enjoyed a number of different dishes and absolutely loved every single one. The ambiance is really cool and the service is beyond amazing! Great place and our new go to when we are in town! They are amazing, you will not be disappointed whether your going for pizza or a fancy dish....DO IT. You will absolutely love it and enjoy.

Yelp
Always a great place to eat. The service and food never disappoints and the atmosphere is gorgeous! A definite staple whenever we are staying in the area.
