"Modernist Asian restaurant and swanky cocktail lounge Saucebox is hosting a dance party to kick off Halloween Week on Friday, October 26, with multiple DJs, savory cocktails, food specials, professional dancers, and more. Tickets are $10 pre-order and $20 at the door, but it’s likely it’ll be filled up for those who don’t order ahead of time." - Alex Frane

The ambience was a bit on the darker side but I loved it! Illuminated with dimly lit colorful lights, the place had a romantic vibe. The food and drinks were just fine, I would not call it super delicious. For the price of it, iv certainly had a lot better food. The kick was missing, which would bother you when you pay $$. The staff was very warm and the service was good.

Visited for Portland Restaurant Month and had the $33 per person menu. It was great and had a wonderful time with my wife there. Our waiter was great and the service was spot on. We went there on the early side, around 5pm since we had to get home by 7pm for the kids. We had the whole dining room to ourselves until around 6:20p. Will definitely be on my go to list again.

Man, where do I start? Late dinner after flying in an hour before, we had Korean ribs, fall off the bone tender and flavorful ; chicken karaage tender and packed with flavor ; oxtail stew fun that was piping hot and tender oxtail; lobster curry so smooth, hint of citrus and a bite of spice ; pork sarong crunchy but tender; tapioca dumplings with a light, meaty surprise; peanut noodle salad so fresh and clean; Javanese salmon cooked perfectly. Service was attentive and wonderful. When are we coming back? Thanks so much for an amazing dinner!

The place is in the lower $$$ price-point but it is THE PLACE for a date night or a special celebration. I did nit try their sushi but other entrees and appetizers were delicious. The drinks blue us away. Do try the cocktails!! Highly recommend!! The ambience and service was nice. The only thing missing was deserts, they did not have a great desert variety.

Came here for a friend’s Birthday on a Thursday night. There weren’t many people here it is actually quite empty at 7:30 PM. We ordered the Pupu platter and the salmon and the tofu. Food: The food is amazing! The platter was a great way to get a nice sampling of a lot of stuff and the salmon had a great dresssing. Ambiance: Very intimate and quirky place! Service: Our guy Tim was amazing! He gave us dessert on the house and a candle for my friend’s birthday so we really really had a great time. Thanks Tim! Would come again!

We went on a Friday night in early September at 5 ish. The bar side of the saucebox and the sidewalk seating was nearly full when we started and the restaurant side filled as we ordered our appetizers. They were a little understaffed for the amount of business on a Friday night. We weren’t in any hurry until the street people started putting on a show and the bar patrons across the street started egging them on. The street people escalated and their unruly conduct and no one at the restaurant called the police. We enjoyed the food we ordered. The spicy char siu pork bao bun and the soft shell crab bao bun appetizer. The bao buns were perfect and the pickled veggies were spot on. The pork seasoning was more soy flavored and not as smooth as char siu bbq should be. The soft shell crab bao bun was good. The sauce was good but not spectacular as it looked. Both were served in steamer baskets and has a great presentation. I will be back to try other food hopefully with less street people interactions

Saucebox is divided in two sections, one with a darker bar/dining atmosphere with music and the next with a nice quieter dining room. The decorations and atmosphere were really nice and the food was fantastic as well. It may be a little pricey for sinner but they have excellent happy hour specials. I got the sampler plate which was the perfect amount of food for dinner. The tapioca dumplings were the best out of the plate. Such an interesting texture and such delicious filling!

Came here for happy hour around 5pm on a Wednesday, service was great and food was very good! Got the Korean spareribs and a burger, plus their cocktail of the day which was a Thai lychee/citrus mix, would recommend!
