"The breathtaking Art Deco stained glass panels, gilded details, and winding wrought-iron staircase at this canal-side sauna were rescued from Au Bon Marché in Paris before it underwent a top-to-bottom renovation—the resulting space is a hybrid of immaculate Dutch craftsmanship and Parisian refinement. In addition to the various baths and relaxation rooms there are infrared saunas, a solarium, and the option to book a private massage. Fair warning: The unisex saunas and baths follow a strict no-swimsuits-allowed policy (towels are okay). "

I was exhausted—four days into my Eurotrip, averaging 15K+ steps a day, not sleeping well, sore all over. Despite a recent bad review (reviewer was entitled af), I gave this sauna a shot, and I’m so glad I did. It completely reset my body and nervous system—the highlight of my Amsterdam trip. If you’re a tired traveler, need a reset, or want a true European sauna experience, go. It’s a communal, co-ed, nude spa. Only towels/robes and sandals are allowed—bring your own or rent at the front desk. Most people are nude and it’s very relaxed. I went on a Wednesday around 8pm; the crowd was mostly 20s–40s. My routine: quick shower (a must), 20 min dry sauna, rinse, 15 min infrared, rinse, cold plunge, another rinse, then relaxed outdoors under open skies with birdsong. Pure magic. No phones or devices in sauna zones. Quiet chatting is fine, but keep it respectful—most people come to unwind. Don’t miss this place if your body needs a break or you want a more authentic European experience.

Easily one of the best experiences i had in Amsterdam. So happy this place exists. Behind the unassuming facade lies an unusual treasure. Love the concept. P.S. To the owner, sorry I entered your kitchen and used your juicer, honest mistake. In fairness lack of signage and open door made it a bit confusing. There were however many subtle signs that this was a self service space. 🤷‍♂️. Or maybe I’m just an idiot. But honestly man, thanks for running this place. This concept added a bit of magic to my experience in Amsterdam.

It's like an oasis or haven in the heart of Amsterdam. People from all walks of life were there. I loved how culturally diverse this place is. Truely relaxing and a must if you enjoy naturism, as well as peaceful and quiet places. My girlfriend and me enjoyed it a great deal more than expected. Time stops there and it is the perfect place to get away from it all. I was surprised most people were in their 30s or 40s. Everything was neat and clean. Great price, service and very friendly and helpful staff. I wholeheartedly recommend it and I do hope to come back soon.

Excellent spot for a day of relaxation, but even better for their massages. Simone was an absolutely blessing, helping deal with some back discomfort. She's not just a massage therapist but specializes in Shiatsu. What an amazing experience. I'd be back just to do another massage with her, but the rest of the facilities are great as well.

The decor truly feels like a time that once was when things were great. There are a few outdoor seating areas as well as many resting places. I'd imagine it was very posh and a sociable environment before the current introverted social media generation. It's full nude coed kids and adults, as all Dutch saunas. The dry saunas and mint steam room can really help with relaxation and recovery. There's also a hightech infrared section. The cold plunge is a tolerable temperature and can equalize you before leaving so you're not sweating. Always look forward to time spent here.

Unlike any sauna I've ever been to – the interior is beautiful, it makes you feel like you're in the Great Gatsby novel. At the same time, the atmosphere is very relaxed. The saunas are never full thanks to the mandatory reservation, which assures that even on Friday evening, it's not overcrowded. Even though there are "only" two proper saunas (+ one steam room and a infra-red cabin), it is more than enough. The 85°C sauna is very comfortable, whereas temperatures can go up to 105°C in the warmer one. The plunge pool is very cold (as it should!), and the relaxation areas are comfortable. It'd be nice to have a water fountain that fits a bottle, but that's a minor detail. Recommended!

Really serene experience and beautiful interior. Have been twice for a massage too 💆‍♀️ by the lovely Simone. I like the variety of saunas and just love the space. Also super central on one of the best canals - Herengracht 👌

Amazing place. Went here on the end of a sauna tour and it didn't disappoint. Very relaxing. Interior just makes it so special. Very different from any other sauna I have been to. Nice people. Staff are very friendly.

Yelp
Excellent sauna in the middle of Amsterdam! I've tried saunas and bath houses around the world. This establishment is by no means big, but it was plentiful. It had everything you need and what they had was top notch. *AMBIANCE* Cozy, elegant, and stylish. There is some history to this place and you can tell two things: 1) It is family owned and they are taking good care of the place, and 2) the interior decoration is outstanding and they family put a lot of effort into getting it to where it is. Overall, the place is very quiet, peaceful, and a great place to relax. *SAUNAS* Their saunas met the mark with a high margin. The hot sauna is hot! The infrared sauna makes you sweat! The low heat sauna is great for relaxing! The water pool - cold! The steam room - great for skin cleansing and relaxing. They were all kept very clean! *ETIQUETTE* No clothes of any kind allowed in the saunas. Place your towel under you to cover your full body and to capture your sweat. Saunas and dressing room are co-ed, in fact the entire place is co-ed. Behave respectfully and politely. Ask the staff for any clarification, as they were super polite, helpful, and kind. Great place to try your first sauna in the Netherlands.

Yelp
The only drawback is ironically the same thing that gives Deco Sauna its charm: It's not a large facility. For that reason, walk-ins are nearly impossible, and reservations are hard to get...and it can occasionally get crowded to the point where you might have to wait or return to get a good seat in one of the saunas. Otherwise, as mentioned--and as indicated by its name--the "Deco"-era interiors are unlike any I've ever experienced at such a spa, which further adds to the escapism that is the bliss of a spa with different saunas, a cold plunge, etc. The owners and operators are truly wonderful, too! I visited multiple times during my first visit to Amsterdam, and I will certainly return when I visit again.

Yelp
I had never been to a spa like this, being from the US, but knew it was going to be a nude coed situation. It was a little confusing at first because they assume you know the ins and outs of everything but everyone is so kind there and gave me a little guidance when I expressed the need to know. I was taken under the wing of someone there and had a wonderful , relaxing, self healing, inspiring time. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!! I wish they had these back home!

Yelp
Get some incredible relaxation in this incredible city! After all the walking I've done, a day at the spa was my calling. They have 4 heating rooms: 100 degree spa, 60 degree spa, infrared and steam room with menthol. Try taking the cold plunge in the cold water bath. You'll feel euphoric and rejuvenated after enduring the 100 degree. **Be aware that this is Co-Ed and fully nude** I spent 4 hours here and wish there is a facility like this wherever I travel. Cheers!

Yelp
Solid massage at a good price. I was in Amsterdam for a weekend and the hotel I was staying at offered to make massage reservations for guests at Sauna Deco so I decided to indulge. It was $65 for 55 minutes, which is fairly cheap compared to other options. The massage was fine but not great, mostly swedish while I prefer deep tissue. I did not make use of the sauna but got a good look at the facilities while I walked through on my way to the massage room. It's a BEAUTIFUL interior in all art deco style. Fair warning, the sauna is open to both genders and is nude. This includes a non gender specific locker room.

Yelp
Sauna Deco is a beautiful venue with friendly staff, in the most central location of all saunas/spas in and around Amsterdam. Although much smaller than some other places, it's also much more affordable. They even offer a student discount. I'd recommend this to anyone who wants to try the Dutch sauna experience (e.g. nude, mixed genders) in a simple and stylish fashion.

Yelp
This place is sparkling clean and a beautiful experience. Two red light saunas, one large very hot sauna, and one medium sized less hot sauna. There are massages available for purchase and reservation, although I did not have one. I spent about three hours here bouncing from the saunas to the steam room and taking dips in the cold pool. There is a small bar to order drinks and bites to eat, as well as little beds if you choose to take a nap! Everyone minds their own business. Highly recommend! This oasis rescued my horrible jet lag.

Yelp
Seeking to kill a few hours from the bustle of Amsterdam, I spent an afternoon at this quaint spa in central amsterdam. It is a throwback to another era in its style and decor. The facilities are good, a small steam room with an aromatherapy scent, cold showers, regular showers, two hot saunas (one is a little over 100c, the other a bit under), infrared saunas, a cold plunge pool and relaxation rooms. Be aware, when your bathing or in the rooms, it is in the nude and both genders are present. They have some nice areas to lie down and sleep if you like or an outdoor area for a nice day and if you fancy a smoke. Some refreshments were offered for sale and light foods. Bring your own towel if you want to avoid renting one for a few euros. Also bring a big bottle of water as well. Id return if in a similar state of mind.

Yelp
Chill sauna experience in the middle of it all in central Amsterdam with old world furnishings and otherwise modern facilities. The only dress code is that no clothing is allowed, which makes for an even freer and more liberating experience. I went on a Saturday afternoon and it was pretty quiet - when I arrived they mentioned that it's usually necessary to make a reservation but that because of the holiday season it slowed down a bit. Can't wait to return.

Yelp
I wasn't feeling well during my trip to AMS, and decided to go and warm up a little. They have a SUPER hot dry sauna, really nice, no weird people, just a place to sweat and clean.

Yelp
This is another experience you can only get in Amsterdam. Walking through the doors of Spa Deco is like traveling back in time to the 1930s. With a stunning Art Deco interior, you can lounge & relax like old Hollywood royalty as you'll feel as if you're living in an old style film. Start off in one of their dry heat, steamed heat or infa-red saunas. Next, cool- off in their small, cold pool to close those open pores. Then choose between two indoor or an outdoor lounge to kick back in for a snooze or curl up with a magazine or book. Book a massage or a facial and also treat yourself to a small light lunch or a refreshing drink from their bar. The spa is located in the center of town on the Herengracht and it is the perfect place to escape the hustle and bustle of the city and unwind for a few hours. The facilities are very clean and the staff is very helpful, especially if you're not used to Dutch spa etiquette. Please be aware that swimsuits are not allowed. You can wear a robe or towel for lounging, walking and eating but saunas, pool and showers are no clothing areas. Most Dutch spas do have one day a week where swim suits are optional/allowed, so please check their website to see if they have a similar policy. www.saunadeco.nl Also please check out our video to see what it's like: https://youtu.be/ovf9g7dg0LE

Yelp
The space is quite beautiful. Very Deco (i mean, it's in the name) very old school. It's open to both genders so leave your modesty at home. All the facilities are well kept but I'm writing this review to give my massage therapist a raving review. Young Wilhelm (sp?) who has been there for 28 years gave me one of the top 5 massages I've ever received-and I get a massage weekly and in every city I travel to in the world. He's knowledgeable about many styles of massage, but most importantly he understands the mechanics of the body. He's very informative, but also very healing. If you are in Amsterdam, and don't have time for a full day at the sauna, at the very least make an appointment to experience a massage from him-worth the measly 65 euro so please tip him generously.

Yelp
Staff was very helpful. Little crowded late afternoon, but a very cool place non the less. Would recommend.

Yelp
Enchanting place to spend a few hours in Amsterdam day or evening. Let's just start off the the negatives, and I can only think of one. There is no hot tub! Other than that, you can't expect any more of this place. The ambiance is stunning, the aroma therapy is mind numbing, the sauna's are out of this world, the fanciest and finest caliber I've ever roasted in by far. Love the little patio for a nice smoke. I've had a few massages there. While I will say some where great, some not as great, none were bad. Can't wait to be back in the Jordaan and soaking at Sauna Deco!

Yelp
We called just as they were opening to see if we could each have a massage right then. They were able to accommodate us, and we both had great massages. The community shower was very nice as well. We will come back to enjoy the spa later in our visit.

Yelp
This place is beautifully decorated, clean, and quiet. It's really a nice place to go if you're visiting and feeling like you need a day away from all the tourist spots. I went after a rainy week of traveling, and this fixed my traveler's fatigue!

Yelp
A small little sauna with very friendly staff & gorgeous facilities. The design aesthetic is spot-on, and the juices are all freshly made in front of you. All the facilities are mixed-gender, but it's a very comfortable, safe environment. The only downside was that they don't accept non-Dutch debit or credit cards. This was a wonderful way to spend a Saturday evening.

Yelp
Exactly what I needed! This place is a peaceful escape from the city. After traveling for over 12 hours the day before I needed to relax and replenish my body and Deco was the perfect place. They have multiple sauna rooms, a plunge pool and relaxation rooms. Plus healthy snacks such as salad, smoothies and fruit. We called in the morning to book a massage and they were able to accommodate us. I had the most relaxing and replenishing massage by Harry - the perfect pressure.

Yelp
Was in Amsterdam for work and was able to bring my wife with me. We went to Sauna Deco for a nice relaxing evening. There was a mixed crowd of women and men (probably 2/3 men and 1/3 women) and my wife was very comfortable with the ratio. The ratio was changing as we left with more women coming in. The hot sauna is very hot (as it should be). There is a sauna that is slightly cooler and we spent most of our time in there and in the steam sauna. Overall, we the experience was as relaxing as we hoped it would be!

Yelp
I absolutely loved spending a relaxing few hours here during my vacation. I had a one hour massage that was a mix of Swedish and Thai - very relaxing and great for travelers that have been walking all over the city for a week. I also enjoyed the infrared stalls and the Turkish sauna. Newcomers may want to be aware that swimsuits are not allowed and the entire establishment is not separated by gender. Everyone was respectful during my stay.

Yelp
Great sauna in a great location. It's an easy walk from downtown Amsterdam. The facilities are small and we had to wait a few times, but that's expected based on the location. Can't wait to go back.

Yelp
Beautiful, peaceful, and clean. I spent an afternoon here nestled up with a book while it was raining in Amsterdam. A haven from the touristy Central.

Yelp
What a beautiful place to relax in a great location. It is clean and offers a steam sauna, two dry sauna's , showers foot baths, a cold plunge bath, infrared sauna, sun tanning table, plenty of areas indoors and out of doors to relax and they offer massage services and refreshments. The decor is amazing.
