14 of Boston’s Best Affordable Meals

"Saus is a cheery little counter-service shop that believes “in the power of the condiment,” as they put it. There are build-you-own bowls of poutine, brats, burgers, chicken sandwiches, vegetarian sandwiches, and salad bowls, plus fries and an impressive array of dipping sauces to go alongside everything. The team has a second outpost in Somerville’s Bow Market, which is entirely vegetarian and anything can be made vegan there upon request." - Erika Adams, Rachel Leah Blumenthal

12 Excellent Downtown Boston Restaurants That Deliver

"Comfort food is essential right now, and Saus has comfort food in droves. Try the fried chicken sandwich, and pair it with some cheesy, gravy-laden poutine. Order: Caviar / Grubhub / Uber Eats" - Terrence Doyle

Google
A friend of mine recommended this place and as I was walking through Boston exploring the city, I decided to stop by for a quick bite. The menu is extensive and the staff are very nice. It’s a order at the front and sit down serving yourself place.I’ve included a photo of the menu below. I had the chicken sandwich with a side of fries and got the sauce, which was like a spicy mayo. The chicken itself was very tasty with a good crisp texture. Would definitely recommend checking this place out.

Google
Got one of each hotdog, the chili dog was by far our favourite. Their fries were also quite good. I wish they had a New Yorker dog as well. 😝 Not a fan of the truffle ketchup, but the curry one was great

John Seigler

Google
The rap music was too loud and ruined the atmosphere in a nice building. I didn't finish the chicken sandwich that had a thin and greasy slice of chicken on it. The fries were good!

We came here last year, around Fall 2023 and just had some fries - we were so excited to come back but were so disappointed! The oil had not been changed and all the food had a bitter after taste, something I’ve never tasted in my life. Chicken sandwich had 0 seasoning, the burger was OK but definitely not worth coming here for as there are better burger spots. The hot dog was decent, but again, nothing spectacular. Would not recommend trying this place as there are many other better spots that serve the same food and actually change their oil and season it. Will not be back!

Google
Got the poutine and it was bland. The chicken sandwich was decent - it had a good flavor but not a lot of meat to it. The staff was not very friendly and seemed slightly annoyed. Wishing I would have got the chef special burger instead of the Chicken sandwich. My wife got the crunchy goddess salad - she said it was basic They have bathrooms downstairs if you need to look for one.

Google
Great spot for burgers, craft beer and fries. Hipster decor and general cool aesthetic. Reasonable prices too. Everything on the menu has a vegan equivalent too.

Google
Came here in summer and it was our first time in Boston. We ordered the brats and burger. Everything was good, tasty and juicy. The staff was helpful and friendly. Definitely will come back when we visit again

Carson Nguyen

Google
Ordered the Diablo chicken sandwich and a normal poutine. The chicken sandwich was very juicy and well seasoned, but nowhere near as spicy as they made it out to be. The poutine was also tasty and had actual cheese curds. However, the gravy was a bit salty. It was manageable for the first half, but it became a bit overbearing towards the end. I still recommend it, but it’s something that should be shared.

Yelp
This is a late night review. I was meeting a friend for a late caching up session. Well let me tell you the fries and beers made for a great social lubricant! The fries are delicious and you should eat a lot of them. Also buy local beer (just as a general rule). I wish I had been here during regular meal time so I could have tried more food! The only thing that I did not care for was the beer and ice cream combo. It just didn't gel. But I am glad I tried it.

Yelp
Been a while since my last visit, but when we were seeking food in the area with outdoor dining and a youngun, I didn't want us to be foraging for lunch at Faneuil Hall Marketplace. It would be almost as bad as taking them to Maggiano's when they could easily visit that chain back at home, and the North End was only a short drive away. They opened at 11:30am for lunch. Each adult got a sandwich for $11.50 or less, and we made two of them a meal for $4 extra for a side of fries and a choice of sauce. A creamy clam chowder from Union Oyster House next door came with corn bread and butter for the kid, and we were more than satisfied. We even fed the sparrows and pigeons some of our fries that fell off the tray, and leftover bread from our seats in the pandemic patio. Food was brought out to us outside, but we brought our trays back in, and we grabbed napkins, plastic utensils after placing our order at the counter. They also provided plastic cups that we filled with water from the jug. The bacon Parm and the roasted garlic mayo were both great dipping sauce options. The southern crispy chicken sandwich (scallion slaw, dill pickles & pimento-cheddar mayo) juicy and quite filling. Fries, chicken ($11 sandos, nuggets $8 for 6 or $15 for 12) and bratwurst $10 seems to be their thing now... no more waffles. A bathroom is available downstairs to the right.

Yelp
This is a hidden gem in the restaurant rich downtown Boston area. It's a no frills sandwich shop offering some of the tastiest burgers and sandwiches with over 15 varieties of must have sauces. They also have canned beer and wine to pair with food. We ordered the chef's special with impossible patty and Cajun sauce, kimchi fried chicken sandos, and 2 beer floats. The Cajun sauce was the uncontested highlight of the meal and the Kimchi burger was equally delicious! The chef's special was good but I'd rank it lower than the kimchi burger. Fries are average (not very crispy unfortunately). They had a wide selection of unique ice cream flavors for the beer float and we opted for pistachio and maple rum. Beer floats were a refreshing change overall and went well with the burger and sandwich each. It's not a full service restaurant and we had to go to the counter to place the order and leave the dirty utensils at their designated place. The plates are reusable but the cutlery and glasses are all disposable. There were no spoons when we went and the staff had to go to the store to get spoons for us. She came to our table to provide the spoon and came back again to check if we liked the food. For a no frills place, this level of service was great! There is limited seating here with 3 regular tables and 1 high top table, seating about 10-15 people in total. The place was busy with a few folks waiting for tables and constant flow of delivery folks to pick up takeout. Overall, it's a cozy place with good food and must try sauces. Recommend. P.S. they sell sauces in jars as well to take home.

Yelp
Flavors - 3/5 Textures - 3/5 Presentation - 2.5/5 Value for Money - 3/5 Would return? No I tried their Classic Crispy, boasting bacon, lettuce, tomato, cheddar, and roasted garlic mayo. Upon first glance, the subpar quality of ingredients was evident, though the portion size was reasonable for the price. The sandwich reminded me more of a burger. While the chicken itself was flavorful, reminiscent of a tasty smashed burger patty, it was noticeably thin and unfortunately overcooked. The cheese was just there for decoration. While I didn't hate it and certainly edible, it failed to live up to the standards. I'm left questioning its popularity and its rating, which seems disproportionate to much better spots out there.

Yelp
Honestly this is one of my new favorite sandwich shops! Their chicken sandwiches are on par (even better in my opinion) than popeye's/chick-fil-a's chicken sandwiches and for a couple reasons. Their chicken is flavorful and juicy and their buns have a crunch and flavor to them similar to a baguette Complete with roasted garlic mayo (i love garlic), bacon, cheddar, lettuce, tomato, this sando was so unique that it has beat all other chicken sandos They have a variety of sauces to choose from if you order fries (which were SO CRISPY and i loved how there were salt flakes on top for extra texture). The secret saus and roasted garlic mayo were my favorites! The all-american burger was my favorite though Made with american cheese, iceberg lettuce, secret saus, tomato, pickles, and mushroom. This burger more than satisfied my craving While this location had salad options (chicken nuggets, hot dogs, and poutine too!) there's another Saus location in Bow Market Somerville, MA and it's menu is all vegetarian‼

Yelp
We came upon this place looking for a quick bite before returning home. They have some fun options. My sister and I got the Regular Poutine and Speciaal burger. It was good but the food was luke-warm to cool and that was weird. The special sauce was okay, not really that great. The cheese curds on the poutine really need to not be super cold and that could be a much better dish. Service was great
google avatar

Beth M.

Yelp
I think this is a really cute restaurant and I had really high expectations. However, it just wasn't what I expected it to be in terms of the sauce that I wanted and the taste of the fries.

Celine T.

Yelp
Wow is that poutine salty! I could barely finish it because of how salty it was. The burger itself was pretty mediocre. The patty was dry and the bun lacked some toasting. The roasted garlic sauce was delicious since it really shone through especially in that first bite but needed more to compensate for the dry burger. However, it was not worth $12 for the burger. Service wasn't too bad especially in the rush and the server was kind. It is a very small space so there aren't much seating inside and gets packed fast because of how small it is.

Felix S.

Yelp
Came here with my vegan family for the 4th. Server was nice, and that's about it for the pros. Food took over 30 mins to arrive, there were many complications with the orders and when I finally got my burger it came with literally just buns, cheese, and patty. Not to mention fries that looked like they were in a time capsule for 10 years. Family was similarly disappointed, particularly my sister whose hot dog came with no toppings at all. Typical millennial blue city establishment

Yelp
Decent option downtown for good American food. Good prices and good food. I really like the chicken sandwiches, the brat, fries/poutine of course, and sauces. The burgers are just ok, better options around. They have alcohol which is nice. Best sauce is the bacon parm, pimento, and the ketchup is truffley and great! I miss the pearl sugar waffles they use to have!

Yelp
Saus was recommended to us by some friends and we had to have a little pre-dinner snack here. We came around 6:30 on a Thursday evening and we were able to sit at a table and order quickly. For 5 People, we got a large fry with ranch and Sambal sauce. We also got a beer flight which had some great options. These fires were absolutely stellar!!! Crispy, hot and delicious and well priced. The large was massive and perfect for sharing. Their ranch was delicious and creamy. The spicy sambal had just enough heat to provide some balance. Saus was delicious and I would believe their sandwiches would be delicious as well. Would definitely recommend based on the French fries alone which is saying a lot! The wait staff was also really nice and open to providing sauce recommendations which was great.
google avatar

Justin S.

Yelp
For a quick weekday dinner, I had a craving for poutine. Arriving at 530 on a Friday afternoon, I was able to order immediately w/o any wait. I received my order of the big poutine w/classic gravy ($9.75) and bacon strips (+$3.5) within 5 minutes. The poutine itself seemed reasonably portioned, though the "big" description seemed generous. The price sans add-ons also looked decent, but could quickly balloon. The gravy needs to be thicker and the poutine needs more of it. Being served in a bowl, I expected the gravy to pool at the bottom. However, the gravy only sufficed for the top.

Yelp
We stopped into Saus for a quick snack after exploring South End! It's pretty small inside the restaurant, but we were able to find seats for us all. For 5 people, we ordered the Large fries as well as 2 sauces, including an herby ranch and the spicy sambal (recommended to us by the hostess)! We also got a beer flight to share with lots of interesting local beers. When the fries arrived, they were MASSIVE but luckily we were hungry enough to split between all of us. The fries were so delicious and had the perfect seasoning and crispness! The sauces too were excellent, especially the spicy sambal. I would definitely come back to try the chicken and sandwiches! Overall, great spot in South End for a quick yummy meal!

Yelp
Lots of options for customization. All menu items have meat and plant based options. We loved the chicken and poutine.

Lyndsi S.

Yelp
So delicious and everyone here is so kind! Vegetarians rejoice, you can eat everything in the menu. There's nothing better than good food and beer on the streets of Boston.

Yelp
I was visiting Boston with a friend when we ran across this place. We were looking for a place to get something quick and good. Saus was an awesome find. We got two items and shared them. * Southern Chicken sandwich - we had to spicy. Great taste and good portion size. * Large Poutine - excellent portion size for sharing. The employee recommended it without adding additional toppings and it was great. Lots of gravy and cheese curds. I wish I lived in the area so I could try more items here.
google avatar

Kimberly N.

Yelp
I don't think the Belgian waffles are what Saus is known for, but they're the only things I've gotten from here. They are a bit expensive for the portion size, but they hit the spot if you're craving something sweet. The waffles have a nice bite to them, and you can never go wrong with Nutella. You can also add ice cream, but I prefer mine without.
google avatar

Mark S.

Yelp
Have to agree with Zaraid and others. Thought I'd give Saus a try based on the reviews. Huge disappointment! Had the Sloppy Joe burger. Buddy had the kimchi and chicken. We both had the regular fries. Service was slow, fries were lukewarm, and the sandwiches were MEH. Considering we paid over $25 each, and based on the quality of the food and subpar service, it was definitely overrated and overpriced!
google avatar

Taylor B.

Yelp
Saus was seriously so good! I loved all of their fun takes on sauces, plus the chicken sandwiches were perfect. I seriously enjoyed every last bite. Also, the fries were just how I like them- nice and crispy! Wish I had a location in my neck of the woods!
google avatar

Anna M.

Yelp
They'll treat you kindly. They're organized during a rush. They'll teach you to appreciate wine in a can. And their collection of sauces is nothing short of amazing. Yes, it's a hole in the wall downtown. There's not a lot of seating, and it's the kind of place you walk to after you took the train to work. A city needs places like that! So glad they survived the pandemic.
google avatar

DeeShawn R.

Yelp
Sadly disappointed consistently at this place. Barely would call it poutine. Location sucks if you're driving since it is downtown right by Quincy market so absolutely no parking nearby. The place is small and I've never really seen people eat in - more of a takeout place. Prices are pretty high especially for poutine where topping are an average of $2+ even for sauce. So by the time you're doing adding it all, it's about $17 for your regular "small" size poutine. Salty, old, barely any cheese. Doesn't resemble poutine at all Aside from poutine, ordered fries in general and a chicken sandwich. Super salty, old, overdone fries. You can get better ones at ANY fast food places
google avatar

Yelp
Pardon the photos, I took them after we started eating... The fries were a bit dry and tasted nearly burnt, but it was okay if you doused it in the sambal saus. The classic crispy chicken sandwich was most definitely the star of the show. It was--and I mean this in fondest way possible--warmly reminiscent of the crispy ranch snack wrap that was taken off of the McDonalds menu. We enjoyed every bite! We also did the spicy nugg challenge! I've been struggling to find some genuinely spicy food in MA, and I finally found it here. The nuggets were a bit dry, but we didn't mind--we had one mission, and it was to complete the challenge. After many tears, and many cups of water, we finished the 12 (we actually got an extra, so 13) nuggs in our tray. We succeeded! Edit: changing it from a 3-star review to a 4-star review because the boyfriend was very strongly advocating for them :P

Yelp
Saus is a good fast casual eatery with options from chicken sandwiches, hot dogs, fries and more. They also have a few beers on draft. There's limited seating inside with about 5-6 tables. Service was good and fast, and there was an open kitchen. We both got chicken sandwiches ($10 each) and these sandwiches were huge that I could barely finish. Fries were good and salted well however I felt like I had a lot of small thin pieces. I was recommended the secret saus by the worker and the secret saus is good however it's like a typical "secret" sauce. They have a lot of sauce options though.
google avatar

Joseph G.

Yelp
Stale bread. Southern crispy sandwich is good but the bread is stale. Perhaps it was leftover from last week. No excuse for stale bread. It is an insult to the chicken.
google avatar

Allan C.

Yelp
Chicken sandwich was alright - bread was too dry and too thick, chicken was breaded with too much salt. Not much else going on in the sandwich. Took 20 mins to make one item :(
google avatar

Della S.

Yelp
I expected this place to be more crowded on a Friday evening but there was no line at all and plenty of seating when we dropped by around 7pm. We got a classic poutine ($7 regular size), spicy sambal ($0.75), crispy chicken sandwich ($9), and kimchi fried chicken sandwich ($9). The sandwiches were quite hefty so the whole meal ended up being very filling. I was a little disappointed by the bun, which was on the drier side. The fried chicken could have been juicier. I didn't think the saus mayo or the herbed ranch on either sandwich contributed much flavor. The poutine was salty, but pretty good. The cheese curds had a very light flavor so most of the flavor came from the umami-packed chicken gravy. The fries were fluffy on the inside. My favorite part of the meal was the spicy sambal saus! It was very smoky and added a nice kick to everything. This would be a fun place to come for fries and drinks. Vegans beware-- they have a vegan gravy for the poutine, but no plant-based cheeses.

Yelp
Saus it up baby! I called my son who lives in Boston and I told him there's a cool little place we have to hit up after work. Walking in, we have the place to ourselves. Saus isn't a large space. I ordered a draft beer and my son ordered a pineapple cider. Interesting, I asked for a sip. It was so sweet I almost spit it out! Nothing against Saus, I'm not a fan of sweet drinks. The menu is geared up for drinking a libation and having some fun bar food. First are the fries. The fries can be ordered in three sizes. Next, we order a few funky dipping sauces which puts us in the Saus zone. We ordered three dipping sauces because I'm a wild child: Truffle Tomato Garlic Smoky Chipotle Ah-mazing! We couldn't stop eating the fries, they were cooked perfectly. We also ordered two chicken sandwiches. The chicken breast they use was so moist! I ordered the Crispy Chicken Sandwich topped scallion slaw, dill pickles and the special Saus mayo. The secret to their moist chicken? They brine! I now want everything brined. That was a righteous chicken sandwich. If you're in the area and want a cold beer and some fun finger food? Come to Saus.
google avatar

Nick C.

Yelp
We stopped in for a quick bite after strolling through Faneuil Hall. I had pretty high expectations since Saus claims to have won an award for Boston's best fries for several years. We had a regular poutine with pork belly on top. The poutine itself was very good. The fries had good texture, gravy was rich and the cheese curds were squeaky. The pork belly topping was a bit of a let down. It didn't add as much flavor to the poutine as I was expecting, and the BBQ rub didn't come through. They had a couple of tables for outdoor seating. Beer selection was also pretty good and reasonably priced. I'd return to try another poutine combination.
google avatar

ThomaS T.

Yelp
Poutine fries with meat gravy and carnitas -tender and fatty carnitas meat on saucy fries. The carnitas are not the traditional carnitas. The gravy is savory and thick. There's white cheddar cheese topping. They all go deliciously well together. Melty cheese gravy fries , yum. The bowl is a tad bit on the salty side. The salts probably from the salt in the fries. Goes well with a beer ! I'd come back to try the fries with the mushroom gravy. Very nice people here . Been wanting to come here since 10 years ago when I first visited.
google avatar

Shuang Z.

Yelp
The store is small but they have 4 outdoor sitting tables. They are known for their poutines, so I got the mushroom sauce for the poutine. It's a giant tray of French fries! They aren't crispy anymore due to the sauce. Tons of giant soft cheese cube on top and I love the cheeky texture when biting it! The Gravy is kinda salty. I liked the mushroom pieces inside. It doesn't taste bad but also doesn't have the wow effector. I still prefer crispy fries with ketchup or aioli sauce. Will come back to try their hotdogs and sandwiches for sure. P.s. they have a great select of beer, cider, and wine.
google avatar

Nitasha K.

Yelp
Just moved to Boston ! One of our first stops was Saus given we saw it on the Food Network. I feel like the four star review doesn't adequately rave about their food. We had the crispy chicken sandwich and regular poutine and it was delicious. The regular fries came with the sandwich also since we made it a meal. The chicken was perfectly crispy and flavored. One person can easily finish the sandwich but my husband and I split that and the poutine. The fries and poutine fries were crispy and well cooked. The regular gravy and cheese curds were delectable and not overdone. Would absolutely come back. We loved the samba sauce, the garlic one was a little too garlicky for me but I can't wait to try more!
google avatar

Areeba Z.

Yelp
This place is a hidden gem. As a Canadian, I judge all poutine harshly and this place didn't disappoint. First of all, I am very surprised that they actually carry poutine in the heart of Boston. I got the regular poutine with a kimchi topping. Although not the most authentic but the poutine was on point! It was not too greasy either and didn't give you the guilty feeling afterwards. My friend got a hot dog with fries. Ordering was very easy and I got my food in no time. We sat outdoors on the patio. The fries were a little cold, however that may be due to the chilly weather. Definitely recommend their poutine!
google avatar

Marni M.

Yelp
Popped by on a Saturday afternoon to find most of the limited tables occupied. However, I was able to share a table with another couple where half the table was still available. Take out is another alternative. I ordered a regular poutine with beef gravy and a can of Coca Cola. In the past, I've had poutine twice in which I remember it being better at the other places. The cheese curds were fairly large, gravy slightly bland and the fries were not my favorite. The freshly chopped scallions were a nice touch. Overall, alright food but I am curious how the other items on their menu are. Cashier was friendly and brought my food directly to my table. I would come again if in the area
google avatar

Kailyn T.

Yelp
This review is for the poutine, which I was not a fan of. The fries were alright, mostly crispy. They lacked the snap in half, thickness with crisp just on the outside that makes my favorite poutines. Maybe my expectations were too high because of the signs outside, they just seemed like ordinary bar fries. The gravy was good, the cheese curds were easy yet not quite melted with the gravy, and the soft-boiled egg for a $2 addition wasn't worth it. It was cold and would have rather it be able to run into the fries. Service was friendly, could have just been an off day in fry world and I'd go back to try a sandwich. These fries seem better as a side than something when you are craving poutine.
google avatar

Rashmi N.

Yelp
This place is located in the middle of all the breweries and bars, so you can grab a drink and get fries and chicken fingers from this place and enjoy. Got medium fries with spicy sambal dip(must try). Fries were made to order and crispy. If you are a spicy food lover like me ask them to sprinkle the Peri Peri on your fries and thank me later
google avatar

Alix R.

Yelp
It's always great to find a spot that offers poutine. In fact, I've only ever had the poutine there (the other menu options look great though!). They have a lot of add ons for the poutine, although I do suggest going with the classic gravy and cheese curds. Dish overall has a great cheesy flavor with pretty good tasting gravy. I find myself doing pretty good with the regular size by myself.
google avatar

Jen C.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I came on a Sunday afternoon for a quick lunch. There is one table for indoor seating and 4 smaller tables outside. We ordered the crispy chicken sandwich and a large poutine with regular gravy to share. The chicken was very crispy and tender - super delicious! The poutine was too much for the both of us to share! The gravy and cheese curds were so yummy and perfectly salty! Overall, we had a great experience! I'll be back to try the BBQ sandwich!!
google avatar

Matt C.

Yelp
Good spot, but they need to cut back on the salt! Something to be said when the customer can add to the salt, not when you wish some of it would disappear. Most of the sauces are mayo based, so plan accordingly.

Amanda H.

Yelp
Honestly, a really good spot for a quick meal if you're wanting to try something new. I was visiting and decided to try it out for lunch and was pleasantly surprised. The employees were nice and gave me recommendations on what to try. The building was nice but it is small so maybe be prepared to eat outside. I had the classic chicken sandwich and it was some of the best fried chicken I've ever had (which is saying a lot from a southerner). Turns out, I'm not a huge fan of poutine, though. I tried it and it was good but .... Mmm not for me. Definitely stop buy if you want something new though!
google avatar

Chaya B.

Yelp
Cute little place, lots of choices on the menu. I got the cauliflower falafel which is as big as a burger crunchy and very satisfying. My friend got a veggie burger said it was Half veggie and half bean. Both came on a pillowy soft vegan bun with pickled vegetables. We both had delicious fries, and they offer a wide selection of handmade sauces aka ketchup. I got the truffle ketchup. Had cumin in it, wasn't a fan. But burgers, daym, slam, drop the Mike, wholly cow Batman noises delicious! Service very nice, helpful and quick.

Yelp
Note to self and all of America. Don't ever order a lobster roll at a fry place, ever. I was embarrassed for the people who actually had to sell this thing to me. It was an abomination, and we are in Boston people, was it chopped up and had mixed greens and fried onions on top? Oh it was and it did. I was with 9 other people and they were mocking me for actually eating it. Aesthetically unpleasing, small, tasteless. I ate the whole thing for spite and im still tasting it 9 hours later. #sad

Yelp
So I actually visited this place during a night out in Boston and has some yummy drunk food of fries and maybe chicken nuggets, I don't recall but it was good! When my friend said let's go to "Saus" I had no idea this was the same place. To start, I 100% recommend that y'all try the chicken sandwiches here. They have a good variety of add ons and option. Honestly try any of them, they are yummy! The portion size is huge and the flavors of their sauces are crazy delicious! They have a lunch special during the weekdays were you can get a sandwich and fries for $11. There is limited seating due to covid but definitely check out the chicken sandwiches here. This place is not just for the drungies
google avatar

Tianna D.

Yelp
Anytime I want fries and not just soft yet crispy, but one with many varieties of "saus" to dip them in, I come here (or the location in Union Sq.). Saus is a fries-lover's dream. I usually just get fries and a sauce to dip - the truffle ketchup and curry ketchup are a fave as well as the garlic mayo. To be honest I've never tried poutine before, the sound of gravy on fries sounded soggy so it didn't really appeal to me UNTIL yesterday when I went for a yelp event and got free poutine + a soda. I ordered the classic and added pork belly on top. I was in shock! My fries were still crispy as I ate the serving. It was soo good! Next time I'll try the mushroom poutine. Thank you Yelp and Saus for making me try new things!
google avatar

Kylie T.

Yelp
I came here partly from friend recommendation and partly because of DDD and my other friend's obsession with that show and Guy Fieri. I am sooo glad I took them up on the recommendation! I got the crispy chicken katsu sando and it was amazing!! The chicken was perfect, the sauces were great, and the bun was so so good. The poutine was a 3-3.5/5 though - definitely the gravy that did it for me as it was less flavorful and pretty thin compared to my favorite poutines. The chicken sandwich definitely made up for it and was one of my favorite food items I had on this trip.

Yelp
Saus has been on my list to try for years but I finally got to try the Poutine, thanks to Yelp Elite Event! We got here on Sunday afternoon and there were a few people ahead of us, but the line moved pretty quickly. The place has more of a casual vibe with a few tables. The menu has something for everyone- from sandwiches, hot dogs to salad bowls. We ordered the Poutine with Mushroom gravy and cheese curds. It was very tasty and the flavor was fantastic. I actually liked it over the regular gravy I have had at other restaurants. Since we had made this 50 minutes trip all the way into Boston, we also ordered The Crunchy Goddess Salad bowl with Cauli-Falafel and a side of Fried Chicken. Both were pretty good but out of everything we ordered, the Cauli-Falafel patty was just amazing. The texture and taste was on point! The service was average, nothing spectacular. Parking was a nightmare, as expected. All in all, a good first experience.

Yelp
Guy Fieri never lets us down! I visited this spot TWICE while on vacation to Boston. The first time was on a super hot day and with my husband. We ordered drinks, poutine, a chicken sandwich, and a frik special. The poutine was okay - the gravy felt really processed to me like opening up a jar and just pouring it on. I loved the huge cheese curds and the fries by themselves were good. The frik was oddly amazing. It was like a hot dog shaped meatloaf. The sauces were so good - curry ketchup?! I wanted to take some sauces to go but we weren't sure if they'd survive the drive home. My husband's chicken sandwich was really good - nice big piece of juicy yet crunchy chicken, lots of that mayo, and lettuce/pickle game on point. Our first experience was so good that a few days later when my husband and I had split for the day, I was indecisive about what to eat for solo lunch and I ended up back here to get a chicken sandwich for myself. This time, the piece of chicken seemed thinner and there was less of the mayo. Overall: solid flavors, mixed opinions on the poutine, and a tiny bit of inconsistency but I would absolutely recommend this place!

Yelp
We saw a review for this place on YouTube before our trip to Boston and decided to come, and it exceeded our expectations. It was full of flavor, very filling, and a fair price. I got the regular sized beast mode. It has kimchi, sambas, pork carnitas, bacon bits, pork belly and their gravy. It was SO delicious. All the flavors blend together so well. It was a hint spicy but I loved it. We ordered a few sauces to try since they're 10 of them and they're 0.75 each. We loved the bbq sauce!! It was sweet with a great flavor and complimented the fries and meat so well. The smoky chipotle wasn't our favorite but still good. The atmosphere was modern and clean. There is indoor and outdoor seating. We had good service and will definitely be back again.

Yelp
Good food would definitely visit again. Huge nuggets, crispy and flavorful chicken sandwich. Fries top 10.

Yelp
I've visited Saus a handful times and it's always been great for a some drinks and fries. However, this last time was a big letdown. My husband and I were in the city and just wanted a snack before our dinner so we came to Saus purely for the fries. Our fries were like the crumbs at the bottom of your chip bag that you don't want to eat, but you eat it anyways because you paid for it kinda feeling. I wouldn't mind if the small fries tasted like the typical fresh and crispy fries, but these were like 50/50 chance of eating an extra crispy and overly fried oily fry. A dining experience we were looking forward to turned out to be such a bust.

Yelp
A friend and I shared the fried chicken and pork belly sandwiches ($9) along with a small fries. Those fries were very good and we liked the chipotle aioli. Chicken sandwich was good but a little too much mayo. Pork belly was tasty but overcooked. They were out of a lot of things on a Sun afternoon but people working were nice and it was a good stop after a long walk.
