Beth’s Cafe Closes, But Hopes to Return When Allowed to Open at 100 Percent Capacity | Eater Seattle

"Run by homebrewing couple Will and Layken Savage, Brewing Savage Co. is taking over the former Flycaster Brewing Co. in Totem Lake and is opening with eight beers on tap to start—six from Flycaster’s inventory and two new pale ales—along with bottle and crowler options to go and some wine and cider selections. Snacks will be fairly simple at first (cheese and crackers) before food truck partnerships ramp up, there will be limited seating for dine-in service, and the new brewery will compete in the Kirkland beer scene with Black Raven, Chainline, and Maelstrom." - Gabe Guarente

Google
Great beer, especially the Green Glitter beer they have for St Patrick's day! Never had a beer i haven't liked here though!

Google
Great local brewery with a fun welcoming environment! Even if you have never been here before, you will feel like youve been coming for yours!

Google
This place has tons of personality and fresh, inspired new beers on tap weekly. This place is small yet mighty. Don’t sleep on Savage. The beer here is outstanding. Order a flight. You’ll be happy you did.

Decided to try during their soft opening. The owners took over Flycaster and are already serving their own beers (but have some Flycaster classics on tap still). I really enjoyed their User-Friendly UK Pale Alexa. The 99 Julius Hazy Double was good as well but I'd like a bit more depth of flavor. The Hearth APA was nicely balanced and clean drinking.

Just a simple tap front end. No food but popcorn in the corner. Good to come in and grab a big can or for a chill flight. They also do growler fills for pretty good. Pourer I had was friendly and welcoming. Beer was solid though not earth shattering. Some solid choice with a Hazy IPA and a Red that was good. I didn't taste the porter but the ESB was good as well. I walked away with a Growler of the Hazy.

The owners and Elena are very cool and knowledgeable. The milk stout (Sweater Weather) is fantastic!

Google
Good beer selection. Has good IPAs, low on bitterness, rich on flavor, somewhat hoppy, are refreshing in taste and have fruity/citrusy notes. Tried Plethora, Never Say Die, 99 Juicy and Blood Orange along with Helles Lager. Ambience is somewhat rustic and really relaxing with good music in the background. The location is within city limits too. Staff is very excellent, really hospitable, very friendly, takes time to explain, allows you to try different ones and clearly values you as a customer. Must try for so many reasons.

Google
My wife & I stopped by for the 1 st time to have a cider. Great local service and friendliness. Kirkland's own "Cheers". Try it, you won't be disappointed.

Yelp
Excellent variety beer on tap. We happened to go while they had limited fun kegs they had brewed and it was heartbreaking not being able to geet any can of some of the flavors they had. Its a very cute atmosphere and the staff was helpful and friendly. I will definitely come back for the beer!

Yelp
This is my first time back since the new owners have taken over and it has had the facelift that it needed. Everybody good variety of beer. It had a little bit of everything for everybody. I can't wait to see what they do with the back area. The potential on it is open. Overall good place, good beer and friendly staff. I hope the expand and continue to grow the venue

Yelp
I absolutely loved this joint. What a hidden gem. The person manning the bar was super friendly and helpful. The beers on tap were great - we tried the pilsner and the Julius IPA.. both well made. I also tried the pretzel they had on the menu. Quite good! It's one of those places you can make a habit of going to. Really chill interior and cozy ambience. Costs about $20 per person.

Yelp
A fabulous and fun spot for some tasty brews. It's on the small side, but finding somewhere to sit has never been a problem. The owner and employees are super friendly and all-around wonderful. There's some basic food options offered, but bringing in outside food is also allowed. Trivia night is particularly fun.

Yelp
Came here on a chill Wednesday evening. The sun was bright and the view was nice with great music playing. Got their 99Julius IPA, it was great and relaxing. There was a quiz event going on so I got to sit outside and it was amazing. Cheers!

Yelp
Always exciting to go to a brewery that I haven't paid a visit to before! The space where Brewing Savage is now has a different brewery in the past that I went to several years ago. We swung by here after a fine afternoon at Mcmenamins Anderson School in Bothell. I had two different beers from Brewing Savage on our visit here, both were good ones! I had the Blushing Blonde to start with. This was a Raspberry Blonde Ale that was very enjoyable! Sometimes when it comes to raspberries it can be just too sweet for the occasion but in this case I thought the balance was nice! The next beer was Sweater Weather, a stout that I liked as well and personally I think it was my favorite between the two beers. Good, deep, dark with chocolate notes makes this a good beer to sit and unwind with!

Yelp
This brewery is savage! Nah, it's a cool spot with a handful of solid beers. Brewing Savage is located off of 124th in Kirkland. I had no idea it was here until I spotted the sign when I was at another business across the way. Glad to have spotted it! My friend and I visited Brewing Savage for a pint before dinner around Kirkland and had a fun time here. The tasting room is located in a business strip and is on the smaller side, with a TV playing sports. There's an outdoor tent with heaters and music playing during COVID-19. They've really made the best of the situation, given the restrictions. And the staff could not be friendlier. I had the double IPA, which was more citrusy than I expected than it being hoppier like most double IPAs are. They had other IPAs on tap, which I'll have to try for next time since we were only getting just a pint here. But the different offerings allow all kinds of beer drinkers to find something that'll wet their whistle, ranging from IPAs to pale ales, stouts and guest ciders. Savage is a pretty bad ass name for a brewery, right? It's the owners' name, which I thought was pretty cool. Glad to see that this family business is in Kirkland and is offering craft beers in the Totem Lake neighborhood, which is lacking in breweries. I'll definitely be back when in the area.

Yelp
I really like the brews at Savage as well as the design and logo. It's a great name, and the beer is easy drinking. The space is small but laid back and easy going. There is a small space for outside seating in the parking lot. It's located in a business strip and doesn't afford much room, but it's easy to find. The Blushing Blonde is a raspberry with just the right amount of flavor that is more of a hint and not overpowering. They also have a few bites available. I would love to see them expand into a larger space.

Yelp
Good selection of beers, comfortable seats so I wasn't rushing out and you can get a giant beer you like canned right on site which is very cool!

Yelp
My new work wife, lol, introduced me to a small local brewery that does fun beer and food pairings. On this visit it was cookies and beer. Reminiscent of a Bay Area brewery cookie and beer tasting I attended once upon a time. The four beers in the taster were decent size pours. I will describe them from left to right as served. Throught the Pine was paired with a ginger man cookie. I am not a fan of any beer with the name pine in it. Don't ask. I just do not like that pine flavor in a beer. This beer I was able to tolerate though. I say tolerate because I might drink it again on a hot summer day. It was a crisp, clear beer with a slight piny taste, or, was I thinking abou pine because of the name? The next beer was a dark lager called Scharwz. This one went with a chocolate/mint wafer cookie and was an easy drinking dark beer. Following that was my favorite! I took a crowler home. A stout called favorite flannel which was absolutely delicious and had flavors of coffee, cinnamon and chocolate. Paired with a ginger flavored cookie and mmmm, so yummy. My second favorite was the last beer, a blonde, called blushing blonde with traces of fruit flavored paired with a lemon flavored cookie. Refreshing and easy drinking. A very welcoming, small brewery. The parking lot was small but had plentiful spaces. The vibe very welcoming to dogs too. Apparently they have or try to have a food/beer pairing monthly. Super fun and I encourage you to stop by for a beer. They serve ciders, wine, and snacks as well. Happy Yelping and drinking craft beers!

Yelp
Cool new-ish brewery in Woodinville with an impressive variety of beers from stouts to sours to IPA's. During my latest visit I sampled their Red IPA that has 200 IBU's at less than 6% ABV. This puppy is for the really devoted hop-heads for sure. They also have some basic snacks but no kitchen. However, you can bring food in and there are some great restaurants very close. Parking is easy, the service is great, and the atmosphere is cozy and inviting.

Yelp
I try and stay in the loop with the beer community and happened to see via Instagram that the previous brewery in this spot had new owners. Throughout the Brewing Savage journey (I have been going here since the beginning), they really have kept up on the social media (which helps me out a lot since that is my go to source), following COVID guidelines and making sure everyone is comfortable, happy. The knowledgeable beertenders help to find you your perfect fit. The customer service is top notch and it really does have a neighborhood/family feel which is something I think this area is greatly lacking. Beers are always on point, a variety for all, and served with a smile. Food trucks on the weekends (updated on social media and Untappd!), dog friendly.

Yelp
I liked this spot! They had a good selection of different beer varieties. I had the lemon drop kolsch and sampled the raspberry beer. Both were really good. The lemon was really light and refreshing. They have seating indoors as well as some outside tables. The staff/owners were really friendly and knowledgeable about all of the beers on tap. It was a great stop, I'd definitely recommend it!

Yelp
Quiet and intimate with bomb beer! The location surprised me for a brewery but it totally works and staff are super friendly and welcoming!

Yelp
Great little brew pub in Kirkland. Thought the area looked familiar, then I noticed the Dyson service center in the same retail corridor. Interior was nicely done and proprietor very welcoming. Nice to see some local awards and digital menu board. All three beers I sampled were excellent. This place is small, only has 5-6 tables and a short bar. Interesting why such a light crowd on a Saturday night? We took a nice table in front of TV to watch Final Four! Side note, the Savage logo is well designed and merch was great. Might have to pick up a t-shirt? Adding this place to my "must go back" list!

Yelp
Super late review (came in October and November of last year). But anyway! Love the beers at this place and their special beer and food pairings. In October we tried the candy pairing then in November we tried the pie pairing. Both were surprisingly tasty! They also had beer and cider flavors that matched the Fall season. Had to get a flight to try a couple. Best part of all, we got to bring our dogs along.

Yelp
If you are anywhere near Savage, go there! The customer service and atmosphere are next level!

Yelp
Good beer & friendly staff! The place Is small but worth checking out! They have cans to take home!

Yelp
Went yesterday on a swelteringly hot day. Really enjoyed the atmosphere and air-conditioning and kind bartender! There was a barbecue food truck outside which was really handy, although there are some food items on the menu as well that looked good. Definitely will be back! The double IPA, higher in alcohol but smooth on flavor really hit the spot.

Yelp
Just moved to Seattle area and may have just found my new favorite brewery! Great atmosphere, delicious beers, and super dog friendly!! Can't wait to come back again!

Yelp
Great ipa! Very unique tasting but not in a bad way at all. Love how intimate the setting is outside and how the brewer is the one serving.

Yelp
Brewing savage is tiny brewery, with a very chill vibe. There were dogs EVERYWHERE! Ready for pets and scratches. The waiter was also very nice and helpful in helping my friends pick and choose a beer if there liking. Overall this place is definitely a hole in the wall and will be going back to grab a beer. They allow outside food and had enough seating. I definitely recommend getting the Strata Fresh Hop IPA, It's definitely my favorite on the list. And if you're not a huge IPA fan they also have ciders on the side.

Yelp
Coolest place in Kirkland! Try the IPAs and the Raspberry Ale!! Updating tasting room and outdoor seating when the weather is good is great. Food trucks on the weekends are great for food options.

Yelp
What a great spot. We used to come to this location when it was a different brewery, but had kind of fallen off visiting here. Brewing Savage is really great and the beers are delicious. The beertender Mike was really friendly and knowledgeable and they had four different IPAs on draft, which is always a plus for me. Will be back soon!

Danielle N.

Yelp
Finally got to check out this brewery. All the hype is well deserved. The beer is amazing. Especially during a heat wave! The space is clean with a touch of class and style and the beer is to die for. I am not a stout person but I could drink theirs all day long. The beer is truly original, crisp and delightful without being over the top or absurd. Great area in the back to hang out with friends and family too

Yelp
Come here regularly a few times a week. Love the raspberry blonde and the new kolsch. Very dog friendly! Our pups have befriended all the beer tenders. We like to sit in the back amongst the brewing equipment -- cool to drink beer surrounded by beer. Very nice staff, very cool owners, ever-expanding selection of beer. They always have some ciders too. Ok to bring/order in food. They have some snacks to buy too. And there is often a food truck posted outside.

Yelp
Great beer! Beertenders and owners are awesome! Food trucks on Saturday's are awesome as well!

Diane K.

Yelp
Awesome brewery. Great staff and excellent service. Back room space is very cool. Nice to sit and enjoy your pint surrounded by the brewery workspace and fermenters. Family & dog friendly.

Yelp
Great Beer, great atmosphere! Knowledgeable staff with the lead brewer often around answering any questions. Fantastic selection and variety of beers not just a bunch of IPA's like many other local places.

Jen W.

Yelp
Too many loose and dangerous dogs, plus the concrete floor and lack of acoustic ceiling makes it annoyingly loud when they bark. The beer here is terrible. The raspberry beer tasks more like liquid Benadryl than beer and the bad aftertaste lasts for hours. The only other lighter beer they had was flavored with banana. That was terrible. I think I've been here a dozen times, and I was overcharged at least four of those times. How does three $5 beers cost $35 with tip?

Jeremy S.

Yelp
I've tried several of SBC's brews, including their sours, and have become a Savage Fan! The people and the versatility of the indoor/outdoor space make it a great area to meet up with co-workers, friends, and/or family. Love that they are dog friendly as well and would be great to have a trivia night there. Current favs are Never Say Die (Double IPA) and Far Out (sour).

Edwin W.

Yelp
Yum! First time coming here and I was not disappointed. Funny, but the very first thing I noticed when I walked in was they had REALLY nice speakers playing music! I'm not a huge "play music at restaurants/bars/breweries" kind of guy, but it worked in this space and like I said it sounded really good. They have 2 TVa and a few games on the tables. Anyway, beer was great and I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE that they have actual food. The pretzel was good (wish it came with beer cheese) and I saw someone eating the sausage and it looked amazing. I can't wait to come back!

Jacqueline N.

Yelp
They have improved greatly since the change in ownership from Flycaster to Savage, in beer quality, vibe, non-beer items, and social media presence. They retained my favorite bartender, Elena, who provides top-notch customer service. Try their English Pale Ale -- it's malty but low-key and drinkable.
