Dirk was a wonderful tour guide! My roommate and I took a road trip to Savannah and this tour took us all around the historic district to view and appreciate the beautiful old homes and buildings Savannah is known for. We learned so much about the city’s history and why the architecture here is so unique!

I highly recommend this tour. Dirk provided a great introduction to the history and architecture of Savannah, with lots of anecdotes and stories that brought the city to life. It was clear that he was very knowledgeable and had a lot of enthusiasm for the city and its past.

I have taken many tours in Savannah and Charleston to learn about the history of the city, the ghostly stories, etc. Hands down the single most informative guides was Dirk. He provided a great history of the architecture of the city but more importantly the stories of how that architecture came to be. Case in point the animal guards and buzzard problem. Yeah, you'll need to ask Dirk yourself. 8-) We plan on taking another tour with Dirk on our next trip to Savannah. Highly recommend you do the same!

Our walking tour with Dirk this past weekend was absolutely the highlight of our trip. He provided a fascinating analysis of the unique relationship between Savannah's culture and architecture. He is relaxed, friendly, professional and a delight to wander the historic district with. We highly recommend him!

This was an amazing tour. Dirk is an incredible resource for Savannah history and architecture and we couldn't have asked for a better experience. He doesn't do the cliche tour--he actually shows you SAVANNAH. This is a tour for people who actually want to learn something about this beautiful and historically complex city. This is bar none the best walking tour--the next time we come to Savannah, we're booking with Savannah Rambles again (and hopefully we'll get Dirk again too!). Thanks again!

My wife and I come to Savannah a couple of times per year and have taken historical and ghost tours as well as talked with and gotten to know several of the residents and still learned so much from doing this. This tour is so much more informative and enriching. As a resident and having worked with several architectural and historical preservation organizations, Dirk has unique insight into the buildings, history and culture of Savannah. His knowledge, insights and passion for the city make his tour an important part of learning about Savannah.

I went on an architectural ramble with Savannah Rambles on a cold Wednesday morning before Thanksgiving. My 12 and 14-year-old children were with me. It was chilly, but we were completely sucked in by the history and the stories. We learned so much and enjoyed it thoroughly. I highly recommend this tour. Dirk, our guide, was friendly and happy to answer off script questions. He has a very deep knowledge of Savannah and the local architecture. With respect to accessibility: there is some walking but not over a great distance. There is more standing. The tour is two hours long, so you want comfortable shoes. My kids happen to love tours and history, the information was dense though. I don’t think children younger than 12 would necessarily appreciate it unless they particularly like tours and history. It wouldn’t be great for a five-year-old at all.

During our stay, we took two tours of town, this and a carriage tour. This tour was better by far. Dirk has more knowledge of the area and since we aren't moving when he talks, I could actually see what he was talking about. He does a great job of weaving the history of Savannah with the architecture of the city. I only wish we had taken a longer tour.
