Went on a ghost hunt on Friday, June 13 2025 and it was AMAZING! I’ve been a paranormal investigator for over 15 years and the Savannah theater has been on my list for many years! The time finally arrived and I was so excited! Micah and Courtney were our hosts and gave us the deep and prolific history, how all of the equipment is used and let us go anywhere to investigate! Some things I’d like to keep to myself but it was such a meaningful experience! Thank you Micah and Courtney for being wonderful guides and good stewards of this wonderfully special place! A Must-Visit in Savannah! The Savannah Theatre is an amazing blend of history and local charm, while still delivering a true Broadway feel. Every performer on stage brings the show to life with energy and talent. The sound quality is excellent, and the seating is as comfortable as a movie theater. The lobby offers light refreshments for purchase during intermission, and balcony seating is also available. We absolutely love coming here — in fact, we make trips to Savannah just to see the shows. It’s always a highlight of our visit!

Google
Bright my granddaughter to see Hairspray. The cast presentation was excellent. My only complaint was the lack of restrooms space during the intermission. Other than that perfect place to see a production

Doug Ward

Google
We visited the theater for the Paranormal Investigation "tour" on July 11. Micah and Courtney provided the equipment and the history of the Savannah Theatre and just let us go do our thing in the building. What an amazing experience. We had interactions with numerous spirits in the building through many different devices. If you're in Savannah, you gotta do this ghost hunt. And if you do, say hi to Steven, Benjamin, Bill and Miss Lizzy for us.

Google
Saw production of Legally Blonde the Musical. Good show started late due to AC issues. The production was decent and entertaining. The accuustics of the theater was a bit challenging sometimes it difficult to understand as sound wasn't clear. But overall a good experience.

Took my mom to see Savannah Live! We had a great time! The show was alot of fun and high energy. It's definitely a historic gem in Savannah that shouldn't be missed. The cast put on a fantastic performance.

Google
Annie was a great show we attended on August 10th. Show appeared to be a sell out and cast members were phenomenal, Especially Annie of course!!! Her Grandmother was seated directly in front of us and she was one proud Grandma for sure. All the members were super talented! Highly recommend you attend if you are in the Savannah area anytime soon.

Google
Saw Million Dollar Quartet and was blown away. Have seen 3 shows so far at Sav Theatre and each one has been amazing. Also the venue and staff are just as amazing. Entering is stepping back in time and get ready for a great experience. If you are visiting, I would totally recommend seeing a show at this venue and you will not be disappointed.

Yelp
Best ghost tour I've been on yet in Savannah and I've been on over 25 of them, including walking, trolley, carriage, and Hirsch tide. Courtney and Micabare well versed with knowledge of the history of the theater and with paranormal activity and equipment. I would definitely repeat this experience next time I'm in Savannah.

Yelp
I really wanted to experience some of the local arts while visiting Savannah so I was so excited to see that Grease was showing at the theater during my visit. What a great performance, the performers were so talented and the show itself was top notch. I love the completely restored vintage building and the vibe overall. This is a great place to visited. Vacationing in Savannah.

Steven Q.

Yelp
Had a great ghost hunting experience! Micah and Courtney set you up with top notch equipment, great local knowledge and technical knowledge and then turn you loose in the theatre. We had several encounters and other unexplained occurrences. The theatre definitely home to several lost souls but none that are threatening. We had such a great time we went back the next night too and just to hang out with Micah and Courtney again! You won't meet two nicer people!

Yelp
Steeped in history and amazing kept in pristine condition. This theatre remains a central point for ongoing entertainment in Savannah amid a backdrop of those that came before.

William S.

Yelp
Savannah theatre use to be a place I would have to visit, but after that woke version of Annie. i al most feel asleep twice and the other group of people I had with me, they notice all the cuts as well, it5 was the worst performance of a broad way musical I had to sit through. I will not be seeing ang more plays there
google avatar

Celeste D.

Yelp
Great entertainment. The theater itself is a nice historical venue. The cast is so talented. They are as good as if not better than the performers in Broadway and SF shows.

Cathy B.

Yelp
Jersey Boy's Musical Excellent!!! Well done show, high energy, great music, singing!!

Yelp
This was such a beautiful, historic theater. We don't get to see a show there, but next time I'm in Savannah, I definitely will. It's a very cool place to check out if you like local history.

Brianne H.

Yelp
Savannah Theatre is a gem! Fantastic shows, lovely staff and a gorgeous venue. We go often to see shows like Jersey Boys, Mama Mia, and their Christmas show. Highly recommend!

Carol L.

Yelp
Just wow! Our daughter was visiting and we decided to go to the Savannah Theater to see Jersey Boys. Oldest theater in U.S. and small so no bad seats. We thought it was great ( and we've seen the NYC Broadway show). So now we had friends visiting and took them to see Million Dollar Quarter and while all the actors were fantastic, the one who played Jerry Lee Lewis stole the show! This theater company has so much talent and will not disappoint! In Savannah? You must put the Savannah Theater on your to-do list :)
google avatar

Steve R.

Yelp
First and foremost a shout out to the incredibly nice woman at the Will Call window who switched my tickets after I realized I came to the theater on the wrong night! She was extremely gracious and accommodating. The theater is historic and charming without a bad seat in the house. And they were comfortable. We saw Jersey Boys and it was terrific!

Janice S.

Yelp
The show "Savannah" is amazing the audience is encouraged to participate. The music will leave you tapping your feet, clapping and dancing! The cast gives their own personality to all the favorite songs throughout the years.

Katie D.

Yelp
Went to the Ghosted Improv show and loved it! The whole cast killed it and the audience was involved and laughing the whole time! Highly recommend!

Rene K.

Yelp
we saw the Improv show tonight - all 4 of us agreed - it was the biggest waste of time & money ever! The other couple with us left after the first half. 'Run, Don'T Walk Away from the theater". We were hoping it was just an off night but it was pretty bad. Go see it for yourself & see...

Yelp
This was a neat little old time theater that we stopped to check out while walking around Savannah. They were getting ready for the debut of Always Patsy Cline, so it reminded us of being back home in Nashville and seeing it at they Ryman Auditorium years ago. I really do love these old theaters, they have so much character

Yelp
We ve been here so many times. More recently Menopause!! Hilarious!!!! Tonight we saw the Drowsy Chaperone, What a fun evening Mr Meese you and your family are an asset to Savannah culture! It is evident how hard you all work to make every event wonderful !!!

John M.

Yelp
We participated in a Paranormal Investigation at the theater with seasoned spirit guides Courtney and Micah. I can neither describe nor explain what we experienced but days later I still have goosebumps. Skip the ghost trolley tours, this is the (un)real thing!

Yelp
This is a fun theatre. It's not a movie theatre but rather a live theatre for musicals. It's also historic as it claims to be the oldest, continuously running theatre in the Untied States. It first opened over 200 years ago in 1818! The interior is beautiful. They have maintained it well. SNACKS They serve popcorn and candy at very reasonable prices as compared to a modern movie theater. Popcorn cost only $3 and soda is only $2. Soda refills are only 50 cents. They also serve beer and wine for the adults which is a bonus. Beer was $7, which comes with plastic glass you keep, and $5 for refills. The beer cups have a sippy lid, which was a bit odd. It was strange to enjoy beer on what felt like a kid glass. However you can understand they wish to preserve the historic theatre from too many spills. PERFORMANCE The performance was enjoyable. It's a local theatre so don't expect broadway level from all actors. However I would say the main actors were broadway level. We saw the "Elf" musical which is the story originally played by Will Ferrel in the cinemas. The actor playing Buddy was excellent. He portrayed the naive, childlike character of buddy really well. We talked to the actor afterwards and he stayed in the playful character. As a musical the actors also showed off their singing talents, which were really good with the main characters. Some of the supporting roles were good but not broadway quality. The sound board also had a few missed timing to activate mics for the actors. These imperfections are what remind you that you are in a local theatre, and then you appreciate the talent of the stars even more. TICKETS I recommend ordering tickets over the phone. You can order them online but don't get to pick your seats. I defiantly recommend paying the extra $5 to upgrade to premium seats. It moved is fr the third to last row to second row center! Also note that the children seats are only about $20 (half off) and are same price for normal or premium seats. Online it seemed the children Sears were only available in normal class seating but this was not true when you called to purchase tickets.

Yelp
This is a great venue for concerts and is beautifully decorated for the Christmas holiday! The voice of Savannah Theater, Huxie Scott, was awesome. Her granddaughter is a chip off the old block. The concert I attended this evening was a Christmas benefit for Shelter From The Rain! Jennifer Graham is doing an amazing job in her efforts to partner with single mothers. She is making a difference in the life of so many. I will find other opportunities to return to this theater!
google avatar

Candi B.

Yelp
Historical place The Piano Man was playing. The music brought back lots of memories. So much history inside from velvet curtains, hardwood stage antique pianos, saxophone, drums, bass.

C L.

Yelp
Go see "Christmas Tradition" performance here. Such amazing talent with a great show. All should make this event an annual Christmas tradition. Loved the show with lots of singing, humor and acrobatics to align to everyone's desires.

Yelp
Savannah Theatre to save the day!! After a large hotel fire, where we had an annual employee event planned caused our hotel to have no power, we had find a new venue in just hours. We were so worried we would have to cancel our event, but with the help from this incredible venue space, the show went on!! They met our event team at 10pm the night before the event. They were there at 7am the next morning to help us set up. Mike and his team were such a huge help. This space is was so much more than the normal hotel event. So my history and character in this building. To watch how the staff here jumped in, was remarkable! Thank you for helping us bring it too life!! Truly an extension of our team and life savers!! Wonderful, wonderful people!

Nancy H.

Yelp
Savannah Live.. wow.. so much fun! We sang our hearts out. The cast is exceptional. If you like music.. they present a nice range of music that a middle aged mom and two teens sang along to almost everything. The energy between the audience and the singers kept the time moving quickly. We would definitely go back! Strongly recommend for an amazing time, to be a part of the local culture/history, and for a nice balance to any trip.

Yelp
My family had an amazing time at the Savannah Theatre celebrating my mothers 80th birthday. The seats are great anywhere in the theatre and the show is very entertaining! The staff is amazing and very accommodating.
google avatar

Ronda S.

Yelp
I love that they support our troops. Active duty can get in free if you contact them. The performers were wonderful! Very engaging. They were very professional. It was a clean establishment. They have a small snack bar with candy bars, pop corn, wine, beer, soda and bottled water. We walked from our hotel on the riverfront, it was pretty close.

Nancy S.

Yelp
This show is a MUST SEE if you are visiting Savannah. We loved every minute. The cast is amazing and their renditions of all our favorite entertainers were "spot on".

Yelp
We LOVE the awesome cast and all the shows we have seen for here...! We come back each year in August on our annual sojourn to Savannah and Tybee. Never disappoints! Hope they will be open on our vacation this year...thanks for all the good times!

Yelp
This is the best local theater in any city! Always put on a great show. Small theater where are the seats are good. Hidden local gem

Yelp
My husband and attended "Elf the musical" based on the Christmas comedy Elf. We thoroughly enjoyed the entire performance . The cast was absolutely wonderful, special mention for the actor who performed the role of Buddy the Elf : he did a beautiful job ! It was a lovely ,warm play full of Christmas cheer that you can take your children to watch. The theatre is beautiful and very clean. As soon as you enter the doors, you are greeted with a beautifully decorated Christmas tree . The theater also has a beautiful stage and also a large digital background frame where they played several graphics through the play . The play also had a lot of neat props, like realistic elevator doors. The concession stand is very reasonably priced : they have popcorn, candy , pop and beer. A small tip : get seats in the middle zone and not sides for a nice view of the entire stage. The play is great fun for the entire family , and they had Buddy come out and meet all children after the play! And, not to mention: there's Santa too!

Yelp
The Live Savannah show was so good! Great music- the band is amazingly skilled, good singing, great variety of songs/genres, and just an overall infectious positive vibe to the whole performance. So happy concierge suggested it. Highlight of my first trip to Savannah!

Kathy C.

Yelp
Went to the Christmas show last night. Everything was wonderful. The singing, the songs, the actors , the musicians, and everything about the whole program was great. I would highly recommend you take time for this when you are in Savannah.

Yelp
We had a wonder time. The theater is an icon and beautiful. A small venue and all the sets are great. Loved the special performance of Forever Motown!

Yelp
We ended up in Savannah after our vacation to Charleston had us running from the hurricane. We had no plans and decided to check out the show. AMAZING!!!!! We had such a great time-maybe even the highlight of our trip!!! They engage the crowd which makes it even more fun and lively. The cast is one big family and their connections are obvious and it's also obvious that they love what they do! This theatre also offers free shows to the local military families on base who might have a spouse or parent serving our country overseas. This touched my heart! If we ever return to Savannah, this will be on our itinerary.

Bert G.

Yelp
This is a review of their current show "Legends Live On" The theater itself is great; staff was nice, comfortable seats, good concessions, etc. The current Legends show was fantastic. A lot of fun. High energy. Various acts and performers. Great emcee. Highly recommend!

Yelp
I loved the old school charm vibe that the theatre gave off when you entered through the doors. The scent of popcorn immediately hits your face as you enter the front lobby. So, if you need a quick snack, then they have you covered. Our tickets were bought online so we just showed an attendant and they led us to our row. Side note, we didn't pick our seats, but we got to pick our section online. The show's ensemble was very talented, but the jokes were dated. I also felt that with the set changes compared to an upgraded student musical. The show was definitely geared to an older crowd, which isn't a big deal, but something to note. I wish the theatre staff was more vigilante in maintaining the crowd. It's super annoying to pay admission and then having people talking during the performance or someone letting their rambunctious toddler loose. Side note, it may seem that the men's restroom line is longer in the lobby, but the women's line takes forever since there are only 2 stalls. I felt deceived when I assumed there wasn't a line, but to only later find it in the outer powder room. Oy! Savannah Theatre was a fun option to have as a date night activity ,but I know I will only be back if I really, really wanted to see a certain show.

Yelp
I stumbled upon the Historic Savannah Theatre while researching before my trip and decided to buy a ticket to the JukeBox! show. I had no idea what to expect but thought it would be memorable regardless. I was probably the youngest one in the crowd that night but had a surprisingly great time. The songs are classics and the performance had the audience singing and dancing in their seats. The performers encouraged crowd participation and everyone was smiling and laughing. It isn't a Broadway production by any means but for a local theater I was really impressed. I left with a huge smile on my face!

Yelp
Need a night out that isn't a club or karaoke bar? This is what you've been looking for. Five to six nights a week, a stage of professional singers, actors, dancers, and musicians take the stage for a two-hour musical show. And at about $30 a ticket, it's nearly a quarter of what you'd pay in Vegas or New York. Now, for those of you that don't like musicals, don't be fooled. The shows change a few times a year, and depending on the season you attend, you might be seeing a 1950's show, a Christmas show, a jukebox hits show, a Broadway show, etc. And even the harshest critics end up leaving the theatre with a smile. Don't care for singing and dancing? The house band is kick-ass. Although they are only a 5 piece band, they have the range to play practically any song they are thrown. And if you attend the special new year's eve show, the band has an extra hour or two of songs, just for the audience (and you get to come on stage and dance with the cast!) Need culture in Savannah? Need a date night? Need an "I'm sorry" makeup night? Or even if you just want to try something fun and different, Savannah Theatre is just the ticket. Oh, and- yes- they do serve alcohol (it goes great with popcorn)! ;)

Yelp
We stopped by to catch a show. We saw the Savannah Live show. We were thoroughly impressed. The whole production was so spectacular. It was very nice that they offer free tickets to Military, and Family! I gladly donated to support that program!!! Over all this was one of the best events of our vacation, and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking to get out and do something fun, and entertaining in Savannah.

Yelp
My Mom and I were on a girl's trip to DC and we stayed in Savannah for a day. We loved seeing the sites and truly enjoyed the history and cuisine. But the highlight of our visit was the musical performance at The Savannah Theater called The Rewind. The show was just phenomenal and the vocalists were so dang talented. We smiled from ear to ear the whole time and couldn't stop singing. AND they kept us laughing as well. It is worth every penny!! AND if you do the trolley tour, you get half off the second ticket. DO NOT miss this!! Fun for the whole family :). Thanks to Michael Zaller and the whole team!!!

Yelp
So we have been locals for about a year now. Wether you are visiting or are a local - this historic spot has to be on your Savannah bucket list! We celebrated 200 years with the theater the evening we attended and just that very fact made it even more special. History meets fun! The Savannah Live show has variety and appeals to all ages. Take the time to relax, unwind, and laugh and jam out! Savanah Theater will not disappoint.

Yelp
I love this place!! It's such a fun community theater with a local group that puts on the various performances. The performances remind me of a Glee club, which I love! If you're into that kind of thing, I definitely recommend it and even if you're not, I think you should check it out anyway. I was only in Savannah for 2 nights and I ended up going here both nights to watch Rewind and Savannah Live. I had so much fun at both shows! I also love how community-oriented the theater is. The person at the box office remembered me from the night before! They truly make you feel like your part of the family and the show.

Yelp
Go see Harmonix! A great fun way to end a day of sight seeing the historic district! You can sing and clap along as they sing thru the decades! Theatre is cute and classic and easy to get to.

Yelp
Love this place so hard! We came for Savannah Live and let me just say-best time ever! Took our 10yr old who's getting into music and theater at school, and she was amazed! She laughed and sang all night, and afterward got her picture taken with her favorite performer! They put a lot into the show, I think there's something for everyone-I mean c'mon: movie/musical theme songs, a little sketch comedy, a live band? GOOD TIMES! Check it out when you're in town, you won't be disappointed!

Yelp
I am not a fan of the Old Savannah Theatre and the show they put on. I went to it because it was rated the #1 thing to do on Trip Advisor while visiting Savannah. Once there I realized how they got that rating. They pander for it. Asking u to rate them high after the show. The quality of the show is like a high school variety act. The singing dancing choreography n costumes r lackluster n one step up from a high school amateur performance. I couldn't take my eyes off the fit of the men's suit. They were awfully cut n really needed to be more fitted and tailored to their bodies. Considering the guys performing the show were most likely gay they should know better!! I think I had high expectations as this was rated the #1 thing to do in Savannah and I paid good money for my tickets close to $40. I felt taken. I really wanted to walk out and ask for my money back. I don't think my review would be so harsh had I realized what I was in for. I'm leaving this review to help balance out all those 5 star pandered ratings. The show would be perfectly enjoyable if you know you are in for an evening of pop culture in theatre form n weren't expecting anything insightful or educational. When i go to the theatre id like to be entertained but in my opinion theatre offers an educational value as well. This was pure attempt at entertainment. Cheesy, schmaltzy cheap entertainment. Get a discount for entry and maybe you'll enjoy it better. Its definitely not worth the full price of admission. They offer an amazing military discount n they give u half off admission of a second show after you've sat through the first one which says something in itself. It says that they have trouble filling the seats and whichever way they can get u in there they will. I feel mean for leaving this review but I feel like it had to be done to give people like me who have higher expectations of theatre and top recommended things to do a heads up as to what they will truly experience. In doing so if u know what your in for and u get a discount on the tickets u can have a perfectly enjoyable time at the show. The less discerning people around me had happy smiles on their faces and left with murmers of contentment. I couldn't wait to get out of there. Knowledge is power and now u know.

Yelp
If you are looking for a fun Savannah activity different than history, eating, and shopping, this is a good place. The ticket prices are way, way less than Broadway or touring Broadway shows, and the performances are in a much smaller house, so don't expect polish or production values anywhere near that level. However, house performers like Michelle Meece (singer), Stephen Dobson (singer), Danielle Egerstrand (saxophonist), Josh Holley (guitarist & singer), and others could make it on much bigger stages with their chops, and jazz singer Huxsie Scott is a true highlight. If you are a fan of music, it is a worthwhile way to spend an afternoon or evening in Savannah's historic district. Our boys, ages nine and seven, enjoyed the high-energy matinee performance as well as the $2 popcorn and $2 drinks, which you can consume while watching the show. The variety show we attended also covered a wide range of styles that kept us all entertained and happy. The show we saw would have been even better if it were tighter, both in harmonies and in dancing. That said, I think you will have a good time.

Yelp
The Piano Men- GREAT SHOW! Everyone was funny, extremely talented-beautiful singing voices! The whole show just had us smiling from ear to ear the whole way through! We would see it again if we were staying longer. My husband and I are visiting from California and we just happened to be driving by the theater and grabbed tickets. Loved it!

Yelp
Quaint & fun! We went to the first night of the Christmas holiday show. It was delightful. No, this is not Broadway, but you wouldn't want it to be. Tickets are reasonable and so are the popcorn and soda. A family could have a wonderful night here and not break the bank. We had seats in the 2nd row which were great. Until they did a routine that pumped in that "foggy" effect and it drifted right into the audience .... anyone in the first few rows had to survive that. It was a cheesy routine concerning an angel, the virgin Mary and Joseph .... and it was probably the low point of the evening. "Mary" sang about being "just a child" herself and a "virgin" and would "Joseph stick around" . Really kind of tacky. That aside, the rest was really well done. Lots of humor and some audience interaction. Loved the Santa and his reindeer routine. Kudos to the 4 little kiddos who performed. Adorable and talented. Just when we thought the show was over, there was a 15 minute intermission and then the cast came back to do an abbreviated version of "A Christmas Carol". Well done! You get a lot of bang for your buck here. The cast is charming, the musicians are really good .... I wish the guy who played the piano was highlighted more .... ditto the guitarist. We had a lovely evening and if we visit Savannah in the future, I would definitely check out what the theater would be offering again. CHARMING.

Yelp
I went on a Saturday night and I watched the Savannah Tenors perform. They were EXCELLENT! I was so impressed with them! There was singing (GREAT VOICES!), dancing, and comedy incorporated into the show! The performers were energetic and so natural on stage! I really enjoyed the show! I'm so glad I came! The theatre was amazing! WAY TO GO SAVANNAH TENORS!! YOU GUYS WERE AWESOME!!
