After visiting countless 1*, 2* and 3* Michelin restaurants in the last 30 years, I cannot understand how this tourists place gets a star. We had to wait more than 50 minutes between our entrée and our meal. We politely and softly asked 2 times (in Dutch, mind you) if we had been forgotten. Waiting nearly an hour between courses without any information is not what I call a gastronomy-level experience. Finally, a younger member of the staff candidly admitted that the kitchen gives precedence to tables taking the menu. Customers like us, with à-la-carte choices (way more expensive by the way), will be served - and I quote - "when then can". Amazing !!! (not). And when my main course *finally* appeared (a 48€ piece of turbot), it was OK but still full of fishbones, something that never should happen in any restaurant, and certainly not with the pretention of being a 1* one. We paid and left after that, not even wanting dessert or coffe anymore. We politely repeated our concern to the chef de salle, who just nod and led us to the exit. Well... there are several excellent, non-rated Oostende restaurants where you'll get at least the same food quality & presentation, but will be better served for a fraction of the undeserved price here. I was baffled to discover after all these years that a Michelin restaurant can be *that* bad. Totally not recommended.
