Such a great spot, I truly can’t wait to go back! I enjoyed every dish we ordered. The wedge salad was crisp and fresh. My chicken was cooked perfectly and had so much flavor. The caprese was classically delicious. The heirloom tomatoes were just the perfect amount of sweet. Can’t forget to mention the pulled pork sandwich with ACTUAL fried onion rings. Incredible!!!!

Google
Decent place to grab a bite The food and brews here are decent but the ambiance is a bit lacking. It is an easy walk from Malibu beach and a good place to come in after a day in the sun. It has bar seating, booths and tables. I highly recommend the rosemary chips and the ice cream sandwiches! The fried cauliflower and calamari are average. Also they have decent beers and cocktails on tap so if you just want a few drinks and some bar food this is a great option.

A friend and I had Sunday brunch there recently. Our host was amazing and attentive and did not interrupt us too much. The food came out hot and fresh. We had fish and chips. The atmosphere was good. There were some small flies buzzing around our window seat (some light dusting needs to happen). Overall a friendly neighborhood gem that I recommend folks try on a Sunday afternoon.

I really wanted this place to be good. The food was only so-so and the restaurant was so cold no one had their heavy jackets off. The server was slow but cold fries and bloody burgers are just not my thing. The drinks were good.

Decided to grab drinks and few appetizers recently. The service was very good and our waiter did a great job. The food was ok though. A little disappointed about the drumsticks we ordered. The flavors really didn’t hit. In the future, I would go back to check out brunch.

Google
I came for brunch. The food was decent: the stuffed French toast was good, and the chicken & waffles was OK but rather basic/plain. I didn't like how there wasn't a physical menu; you had to use your phone to browse the menu. The table was uneven, which made dining less comfortable than it could be. Service was almost nonexistent.

Google
This place was a great spot for Brunch and I definitely will return for dinner one evening to see what dinner service is like for Brunch, at our table we had stuffed French toast with fresh berries, and side of corn beef hash made with real corn beef and a single serving size of chicken and biscuits with sausage gravy and side of fresh fruit and the Executive mimosas. You do need to download the menu on your phone.

So I ordered takeout tonight before the New Year ‘22 and I got the steak tip dinner w/ green beans & fries but I didn’t get the fries which I’m not gonna make a big complaint about🤷🏾‍♀️ , Mashed potatoes are really good anyways LOL. I also ordered the roasted brussels sprouts. All I have to say is that everything is very good the steak tips were cooked perfect(Medium) , greens beans everything. I have ate here before but it’s been years it was good then and still good now. Work Dinner !

Yelp
My friends and I encountered this restaurant on a list of restaurants that have dollar oysters on certain days of the week. For this restaurant, it was Mondays between 4-6pm. I made a reservation ahead of time in case it was busy, the restaurant had a decent amount of people coming in for dinner. Our server was friendly and informative when we asked her for recommendations. There was only one type of oysters but we still managed to devour four dozens of them. I would come back for drinks and oysters! We ordered thai sweet chili wings and whiskey bbq, they were delicious! I ordered the short ribs risotto off the specials menu and felt the risotto could be cooked a little longer, but the short ribs literally melted. The chicken parm flat bread is so good, but it's a smaller portion than I imagined. This is a nice restaurant for apps and drinks!

Yelp
After a super fun time at the Boston International Film Festival, my friend and I popped over here for a late dinner and it was delicious! Our server was super friendly and goofing around with us and the bartender made the perfect Manhattans - the ultimate dinner out trifecta in my book!

Yelp
Nice local place with great eats and service. 7 people in my party for a Sunday brunch and we all ate something different. I personally liked the option of being able to mix and match my food with their option to have a single eggs Benedict rather than the standard 2. The biscuit was loaded with butter. The fried chicken for the waffle & biscuit meals was exceptionally tender, moist & crunchy!

Yelp
My third time there, and I haven't been disappointed yet... I love this place.. the food is fantastic and the service is good and place is very comfortable..

Yelp
Walked in on a Friday night around 8pm , sat at the bar and was not acknowledged, even while asking others sitting right next to me if she can get them anything else. Was not even offered a menu to look over or a glass of water or even a greeting for that matter . I sat there for almost 8mins and was being side eyed . Others next to me were confused. It was also not busy !!

Lecky T.

Yelp
Music bussin, vibes on fleek -- semi black owned, worth a visit ! Oh yea, the food was good too.

Yelp
I ordered take-out this past weekend via phone for pick up. Prior to ordering, I looked up their menu online - which includes prices. Of course, tax is always considered but when my total was given, it was roughly $10 more than the actual math of my food. Of course, i waited until I got to the restaurant and asked for an itemized receipt prior to paying. The host that took my order told me there's "service fees" for ordering online. I clarified, that I called and spoke to him when I ordered and asked for him to explain what the extra $5 fee was for. He simply said, "i don't know", which I thought was insane. You're charging people fees that aren't disclosed and you don't know what it's for? Once i paid, the real receipt came out and it shows that they AUTOMATICALLY CHARGE a 10% gratuity fee. This is something you absolutely should tell your customers prior to ordering. There's no way the host isn't aware, very poor business practices. The issue isn't the money, but the principle to not allow that to be a choice of your customers and then be shady when asked.

Yelp
Oyyyy.... First off - the table we got seated as was dirty. Crumbs/scraps were all over the table and seat. The booth was a bit wet and smelled like dishwashing fluid (think like Palmolive or something) - probably from whomever cleaned off the table and left the dish tray/tub on the seat. Food - the food isnt bad. I really wanted to like it completely but needed a bit of tweaking - ie gravy for chicken and biscuits shouldnt be a $2 add on. Should definitely come with considering how the giant piece of chicken and little buttery biscuit is a bit dry together. Maybe make the biscuit bigger or chicken smaller if you're going to give me a sandwich? Also, asking for a friend, is it normal for my mimosa to not have any bubbles and no orange slice garnish? Even if no garnish, should have bubbles, no? Service...ordered coffee but didnt get cream or silverware until i had to flag down the waitress. And then she brought milk, not cream. Whatever at this point. Also, on a separate note, i noticed they left a gallon of milk out for everyone to use. Pretty sure you're supposed to keep it refrigerated. Pretty darn sure. It's sad that the food is marred by the service at the front of the house.. might try again after a period of time.. hopefully by then, things will be running a hit smoother.

Yelp
This place was a nice, and chill spot to eat it. My boyfriend and I stopped in here on a Saturday shortly after the brunch had finished (we were trying to catch the brunch menu). The ambiance is nice and modern. They play a ray of music but it's more of conversational playlist, nothing to jam too. The food was delicious. The mash potatoes baby!! They were too good! My steak tips were also very tenser and flavorful. I get my steak medium well. My boyfriend ordered the KD pasta i believe. He said his food as great!! Drinks- We ordered something similar to angry orchard and it was very tasty! Overall the bill came to $75 for two. I would totally recommend this spot! I heard their brunch menu is worth trying too & their across the street from Savin Hill Red Lin Train Station Stop.

Kelli K.

Yelp
Excellent place for brunch. Sophie rocks! Brian makes a great Manhattan. This place always has great vibes.

Shanita C.

Yelp
The food was amazing. I got the Mac n cheese with fried chicken and my husband got the fried chicken in sweet chili. For dessert we had the chocolate cake. Now I am a pretty picky eater and even picker about Mac n cheese. When I tell you it was plentiful and fulling plus filled with flavor, it was. The chicken was fried perfectly in some type of bread crumbs that would remind you of planko bread crumbs. OMG!!!! The chocolate cake was also very good so good that I got a headache ( chocolate gives me a migraine). I knew that eating this would give me a migraine but it was so worth it.

Gavin K.

Yelp
I'm not sure why this place gets such good ratings. The food sucks and the service is mediocre, it's never busy either. Go to any restaurant in southie/lower mills/ Adams village and you'll pay the same amount of $$ but have a much better experience.

Amy P.

Yelp
Unless you are a "favorite " or a regular from the "area" or a "friend of the bartender"...,you get ignored and never given water or ask if you want food. literally this is the last time I will visit this establishmen. Do better!

Tatiana G.

Yelp
Tried this place out today for a brunch with my auntie. I'm visiting from NYC so I definitely had to check out the brunch scene here. Ambience is chill and trendy. We were greeted by the very friendly hostess and brought to our table. Menu has the typical brunch stuff, pancakes, French toast, eggs, a burger with an egg on it of course but there were a few dishes that you don't see too often like the crab cake Benedict, and biscuits with sausage gravy. I wish I could have tried everything! Prices were good, on the affordable side for brunch, or maybe I'm just so used to NYC lol We both got the same meal, the steak and eggs and a pancake on the side. Food was superb! Steak was seasoned well, juicy and cooked medium how I wanted it which is sometimes hard to do with tips. The eggs were also cooked how I asked, fried medium with a nice semi-runny yolk. It also comes with homefries with peppers and onions which was tasty. The pancakes were great too. I got blueberry and my aunt got classic, and they were big, fluffy and definitely filling. I was recovering from drinks the night before and decided to just stick to water so I can't review the drinks but they looked good on other ppls tables. Service was ok, we had Angelica who was a bit MIA. We found ourselves looking around waiting for her several times and other servers ended up fulfilling our needs as they saw us waiting. I won't take off a star for that because everyone has their off days and the food was so good it made up for it. I'll definitely be coming back here again to try out the dinner menu and the drinks.

Kayla S.

Yelp
This place is a hidden gem! Our food has been so delicious, the atmosphere is great and our bartender was awesome! I highly recommend checking this place out.

Wendy S.

Yelp
If you don't try the BAMA wings, you are missing out! So big and juicy and flavorful! My husband had The Redline's Down for a drink and loved it. We also shared the Chopped Salad with shrimp- perfectly done - great flavors! A couple ladies next to us did a cpl dozen oysters ($1 ea from 4-6) and said they were amazing. Our bartender, Brian, was amazing and super attentive. We'll be back!

Joe R.

Yelp
Went there for brunch in a Sunday and was initially an odd experience. Arrived at 1:25 for a 1:30 reservation for two people. I was told it would be a half hour wait. When I reminded the staff member that I had a reservation, he insisted it would be 30 mins because they had to clear off a table (even though there were a couple spares). He left for a moment, came back and said it would be 20 mins. I asked "what's the point of making a reservation then?" And then he ended up seating us a minute later. It was a very unusual exchange. We were seated and the service was OK. Food was good. It's worth noting that the music was incredibly loud. Like nightclub loud. I have no idea why. It was not a pleasant dining experience due to the ridiculously loud music.

Yelp
Went in today w/ a friend for brunch. Restaurant was clean & modern, the food was amazing & Sophie, our waitress was phenomenal! Super nice & attentive. Even the other waiters/waitresses walking by were attentive, glancing at us & our table as they walked by... that's a first! Nice atmosphere with a real neighborhood bar feel. Tons of great food, sides & drink (including alcoholic) options & for that alone I know I'll be back. I had the chicken & biscuit plate with a pancake w/ fruit topping & a side of bacon. My friend had the breakfast sandwich & she said it was super delicious. Will definitely be back.. would love to see what dinner there is like. Based on the pictures, it looks lovely. Would love to do the dollar oysters one day.. so yes, def looking forward to making this one of my new spots!

Nylton A.

Yelp
I've been coming to this restaurant/bar since it opened I really have a five star experience every single time check it out. The service is phenomenal and the bartenders are very friendly and suggests the best drinks.

Tiffany F.

Yelp
I love this place! I brunch here frequently. The wait is never too long and the food and service is good.

Sila R.

Yelp
Not a fan of their food / the menu is boring and leaves you desiring more. We had loaded fries, oysters (they have fresh oysters) and salad because nothing else looks. If You are looking for food and drinks go next door.

Patrice R.

Yelp
Today I ventured to this spot for Brunch with my sis and it was a very nice experience, not only did we have a great brunch which I will share the details of the brunch in detail . I would like to share as Fun Fact: That the Acting Mayor of Boston also decided to dine here today as well. I definitely would recommend this place.

L L.

Yelp
Our order took forever, the staff was grumpy and the wasn't great. I do not recommend.

JaLisa A.

Yelp
It was okay. The food was okay ..just okay. The alcoholic drinks were less than okay. I appreciated the waitress recognizing my step mother's birthday.

Yolanda W.

Yelp
Although I've heard some sketchy things about this place.... We decided to try it anyway. It's local and me and my siblings like supporting local bizz. Long story short, the waitress listened to nothing we said, came back with all wrong orders. Then, we waited forever for the order correctionS. When it came it was still wrong, but came back with a hair I pulled out of my mouth. A long one. Then the waitress was like sorry and rolled her eyes bc she figured out who's hair it was. She said I'll see what the manager can do. They NEVER came to apologize, just sent the waitress to take the order off. They were so rude and awkward. We left McKennas to try this, and never again. We should of known for when we watched a mouse fighting to get in the establishment. Don't waste your time! PLENTY of other places less than a mile away with great service.

Mileena T.

Yelp
I think this should be considered a low 3 or 2.5 for the slow service. It kind of left a bad taste in my mouth that we waited more than 20 minutes after we were seated before the waitress bothered to walk over to us. She circled around our table several times before my boyfriend had to flag her down to come over to take our order. I used to be a waitress so I would understand the wait if they were slammed but There were less than ten tables at the time. As the restaurant started to fill up a couple was sat next to us and they were greeted within two minutes. While we felt ignored it was as if she went to every table but ours. I say all this to say that it took SUPER long for our food to come out - I usually don't blame waiters for long waits for the food since they aren't the ones cooking it but I couldn't help but be irritated because all that time we spent waiting for her to take our order, the kitchen could have been working on our food. The food was decent I'm not sure if it made up for the wait and subpar customer service though. Home fries are so good! Very essential to the meal. Caramel apple French toast: this is basically standard French toast with cinnamon apples on top. I think they went slightly overboard with the cinnamon but that's just my personal preference. Side of bacon was dripping in grease but still good standard bacon My boyfriend got the chorizo burrito: he said it was good but the scrambled eggs were too runny (and he was hungover) so the texture wasn't working well with the other flavors. Not a deal breaker though I would give this place another chance to see if it just a fluke.

Sarah A.

Yelp
This place can be super hit-or-miss for me, but I still end up going for brunch relatively often. The chicken and biscuits is great (and I suggest getting it with gravy). The stuffed french toast is excellent. The pancakes were a little too dry and dense for my liking the one time I ordered them. I was also underwhelmed by my omelet, finding it somewhat bland. Their cocktails, however, are always excellent. The servers are incredibly friendly, but service itself can be a slow since the place gets busy. It's also a blast to go for trivia, which they have every Tuesday night. I definitely recommend Savin Bar & Kitchen for a nice night (or morning) out, particularly for dates

Cabo V.

Yelp
I have been looking for a place that sells "biscuit and sausage gravy." Yelp helped me with this endeavor. I saw a photo someone posted and decided to give this place a try. I have been to McKenna's many times but not this place. The staff did their job; no complaints. The food needs further work for me. The gravy is too salty, and the amount served with one biscuit is lacking. I ended up with dry biscuit. The burger was cooked too long and came out dry. The accompanied potatoes were lousy. Perhaps fries as a substitute would be better. I think the prices are a bit high for the product I received. I hope to experience a better outcome on my next order. Thanks

Sherea M.

Yelp
Service was totally awful. Came on Game night and had to wait an hour to get a drink when it was barely a crowd. No apology given by the server just straight attitude.

Chadwick D.

Yelp
Chicken tenders were amazing, they came with plenty of sauce and a large serving but no fries. Also got chicken Parmesan and it was fantastic too. Togo pick up time was quick. Easy to walk to will be back. Thx

Dieter J.

Yelp
Food and atmosphere was very good. But the skinny dark haired bartender is probably the worst bartender I ever had in my life. Never came over to check in on us, constant empty waters, forgot a portion of our order. Overall just a lazy ball a garbage. Will return when he's gone.

Scott M.

Yelp
Worst dining experience in years. French onion soup tasted like extra sodium chicken stock with more salt added, disintegrated cheese, hardly any bread to be found and left under the broiler far too long. We left that untouched after a couple of spoonfuls. Confidence was low for execution on anything else- so kept it basic with a burger - asked for medium. Safe bet next to anywhere you'd think- no. Completely raw. Unsalted french fries (maybe they used it all up on the soup???). The waitress was nice and i genuinely felt bad for her having to serve that stuff. Made sure she got her fair tip but didn't pay a dollar for the actual food. Look at the pictures if you aren't convinced!

Sasha M.

Yelp
I've been here a few times since I used to live down the street. I came here yesterday morning for brunch with a friend. We sat at the bar and ordered Bloody Marias first. We split a double order of smoked salmon Benedict & biscuits with gravy. The food was great as always! Drinks were nice and strong, the best way to have them! Will always come back every once in a while for brunch when I'm visiting my mom!

Sarah M.

Yelp
This place SUCKS. We came for brunch and the only good thing we ordered was the Irish whiskey cocktail. The "stuffed" French toast was DRY and uneventful. The chicken and biscuit was also dry. PLUS, the chicken was only the fry and almost no meat. They ran out of gravy and we had to douse everything with syrup to make it chewable. After we were seated it took us almost HALF AN HOUR to get our drinks, and our server seemed to have no regard for us when she swooped in to take our ketchup bottle (which we needed for our dry af potatoes) to another table. It took almost equally as ridiculously long for us to get our bill at the end of the meal as well. Our water was NEVER refilled, and it was definitely a necessity given how the dryness of our food left my mouth feeling like the Sahara. I have been to plenty of other brunch places at comparable prices with far better food and service. Will NOT return. EVER. Even if you paid me lol

Brady B.

Yelp
And we're out. Since my initial review, I have experienced much inconsistency with this place. It's good, it's ok, meh, ok better, not so much. I'm talking the food and the service...hit or miss. Granted, there's barely any competition around here. Dbar and Harp and Bard are much better choices. Hell, McKenna's across the street (which is also owned by SB&K) is wonderful, but there's a long wait on the weekends seeing as the place is small and very popular. I've given this place too many tries and the last two times it was just awful. No more.

Nikky L.

Yelp
Always come here for a drink and dinner. Great location across from train station and the service is always warm and kind. Love their summer salad and drinks are very strong and good.

Laurene D.

Yelp
Delicious! Went for brunch here and the service was great from beginning to end! Food was great and drinks were great!

Marcus A.

Yelp
Convenient if staying in Savin Hill area. Good drink/vino and bar food menu. Little loud during quiz game time at night. Good service.

Lorena P.

Yelp
We had an amazing brunch experience here! The staff is friendly and very experienced in the art of hospitality service. We loved our waitress Sophie, she was the most helpful soul I have seen in a good while. The food as you can probably tell by the pictures was delicate and delicious. Everything was nice and sanitized as far as I could tell. We will be back!

Caroline C.

Yelp
Love the atmosphere and food. Great service! Would recommend for any game night or trivia Tuesday!

Dominique C.

Yelp
This is one of my favorite places to dine! Please don't let the rough exterior deter you from giving it a shot! SHBK has a great brunch! The brunch menu will have something for everyone- from an amazing brunch burger to a to die for crab cake Benedict! I personal am. Brunch burger kind of gal, so that is my go-to. I nibbled of friends meals when they've had the crab cakes Benedict(delicious), chicken biscuits (the gravy ). You truly can't go wrong with brunch at SHBK. I've also been for the lunch/dinner menu. I've had the SHBK burger. It's your typical house burger. There is nothing to special about it, but that doesn't mean it wasn't tasty! I've also had the blackened chicken sandwich. I added cheddar cheese, avocado, & bacon to my sandwich. Boy what a sandwich! The flavors were bursting out of that thing! This sandwich came with a side of fries, and recommend asking for extra chipotle aioli to dip your fries in- so delicious! The wait staff is super attentive and the overall ambiance and vibe is relaxing. It's a fun hip place for sure! Tip: there's free trivia on Tuesday nights!

Shawn D.

Yelp
A few months later we gave this place another try. 4 years ago the service was great, food was fantastic and atmosphere was nice. Now, the service is terrible, and the food has gone downhill. Our drinks took 15 mins when the restaurant only had six tables seated. The drinks used to come In pint glasses and now small 8-10oz glasses for the same price! Then it took another 20+ mins for our appetizer, which was very bland (mac and cheese) When the meals arrived they were also much smaller. The turkey club was basically like eating a lettuce sandwich with 10 French fries dumped in the middle. (Photo attached) We will not be back - Harp and Bard is consistently good with both food, drinks and service, go there and you won't be disappointed. SBK you need to get it together if you want to survive.

Ja'kor H.

Yelp
Terrible servic, bar & bartenders are pretty cool. The kitchen sucks, took them 30mins 2cook a grilled chicken sandwich & it wasn't busy at all, it's was only 3tables open.

Jasmine W.

Yelp
I'm slightly disappointed. The wine was great! And service was great but the food was extremely bland. I've always worked in restaurants and I know it's hard during covid. Like I said the service was great. But my friend ordered a grilled chicken sandwich and it was plain like something that would come from a fast food kitchen. I ordered Bolognese and it was pappardelle in hamburger helper. Not kidding, not being rude but i don't want someone else to spend $90 on this. I will just say try something else! Because this place is cool and I wanted it to be a new regular spot.

Ara R.

Yelp
Best cocktails in town. Best staff in town (Bill and Matt and Sophie and Meghan and Erin)! Hostess was amaze-balls! If you want to be taken care of, this is the place for you! Shout out to the cleaning staff who labored over some idiots who dropped a beer glass while bringing an infant to a bar past 830pm! Although they need to find some time (or hire so to tighten their stools. Mine was like a rocking chair. . But seriously, this place is awesomeness. Great vibe and good food and drinks. Come on down!!!!

Michelle A. L.

Yelp
I like this place. We've been here a few times and have enjoyed all the food we've tried so far. Especially loved the octopus and carnitas tacos for Taco Thursday. The staff has been friendly and accommodating every time we've visited.

Aubrey Q.

Yelp
Tried this last night with my boyfriend after he recently moved to Savin Hill. The bartender, Sophie, was friendly and gave great food and drink recommendations. We tried a few cocktails that were stiff and delicious! The food was delicious. We tried the rosemary chips, kale salad, fried chicken sandwich, and clam chowder. All were really tasty and would order again! They have trivia Tuesday's and seems to be a great neighborhood spot for food or a drink at the bar. Nice spot to watch a game, too!
