The 17 Best Restaurants & Bars In Hudson, New York - Hudson Valley - The Infatuation

"This cozy Italian restaurant is one of the more affordable options for a nice dinner in the area. Start with delicious (and free) garlic knots and move on to one of their wood-fired flatbreads or pizzas like the earthy mushroom truffle. Most entrees and pizzas can be made without gluten, and there are lots of vegetarian options if you’re fielding a dinner plan for a group with lots of different dietary restrictions. Savona’s has a few locations throughout the Hudson Valley, but this one is the newest and has a lovely outdoor patio. " - Team Infatuation, Chanize Thorpe

Google
Five stars across the board. All the staff were lovely, food very flavorful and the vibe was fun. We had fettuccini carbonara, spicy vodka rigatoni burratta, salad with chicken, burratta appetizer, fettuccini alla norma, and three desserts. Everything had great flavor - the spicy vodka sauce perhaps the big winner. Drinks were made well and the restaurant decor was cozy. Would definitely return

Google
This restaurant was a delight. Full of locals, the vibe was cozy and welcoming. The staff were kind and helpful - I am vegan, and while there is nothing listed on the menu, our waitress and the kitchen staff took care to offer a vegan dish, comprised of gluten free pasta (all other pastas contain egg), veggies, garlic, and olive oil. Simple but absolutely delicious. In fact, I knew it was going to be good based solely on the complimentary breadsticks, and the order of bruschetta that we enjoyed. Yes, it's carb-heavy. But everything was so good, fresh, and clearly scratch-made. My husband ordered the shrimp scampi, which he noted was also delicious and authentic. The negronis we drank were perfect as well.

Yesterday for lunch, we came into Savona’s. It was quite busy no tables in the dining room available so we sat at the bar. Our bartender was wonderful. I believe her name was Jessica. I had an espresso martini drinks were fabulous. First time at Savona’s and our time was fantastic. Will be going back next time. We’re in town highly recommend the food was 5 stars

Google
An absolute gem in Hudson, NY! From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with warmth and hospitality. The food was beyond delicious, each bite bursting with authentic Italian flavors. The service was impeccable, attentive without being intrusive. A must-visit for anyone craving a memorable dining experience!

Richard H.

Google
Phenomenal Italian restaurant! The spicy vodka chicken parm was perhaps the best I’ve ever had.

Google
Have dined on numerous occasions and always found the food to be tasty and prepared in traditional fashion. Staff has been friendly and provided good service. The atmosphere is comfortable and laid back. Theres a good size bar if that is what you enjoy. It can be busy at times and tight (space) in some of the seating, but it's worth it. Pricing is fair across the menu.

Google
Such a great hidden gem of a restaurant. The food is spectacular and the people and vibe are great. Sydney handled our table of 18 people so smoothly and with a smile the whole time. Not one order was wrong. Everyone's food looked great and was said to be delicious. My lasagna was absolutely perfect and is the best I've had in a very long time. I highly recommend you bring everyone here, you won't be disappointed.

Google
I always have a wonderful day whenever I go to Savona's Trattoria & Bar either for cocktails or to dine in. The barkeeper pours delicious cocktails, my favorites being the Espresso Martinis and the Lemondrops. I can't say enough about the food as it is always delicious and the portions are huge. In order to get the most out of your experience, I suggest ordering and splitting appetizers, salads, and entrees. The wait staff will assist you gladly, they are great! Have a great time at Savona's!

Yelp
I found this place for the last night family dinner in Hudson. Again, it was tough to factor in everyone's dietary restrictions. But this place had a large menu, had a dog-friendly patio, and could accommodate 8 people without making us do some weird pre fixe menu. For entrees, my husbad got the Porco pizza which he liked. The vegan-ish and his wife split a veggie pizza and a salad. My MIL got a filet mignon salad and when they brought it out initially, the steak was a perfect mid-rare but she wanted it cooked more so they re-fired the steak to a more medium-well/well-done. My BIL got the bolognese with penne but they brought it out with fettucine so he had it sent back and swapped out for penne. My BIL got the classic chicken franchese which he really enjoyed but it was a lot for him. My FIL got the spaghetti special so I'm not sure what was in it and he can't remember what it was called. He inhaled it so I think he liked it. I got the seafood risotto which was good but I there was a lot of lobster cream sauce. Overall, it was a good place with an extensive menu and friendly service. It was a busy night so make a reservation.

Yelp
I've tried so, so hard to like this place but it disappoints every...single...time..... Aside from the food temperature being tepid at best, it's pretty flavorless. I've had much better Stouffers frozen lasagne, pizza or meatballs. The cocktails are good- I'll give them that much. The most ANNOYING part of the experience is sitting at the bar trying to relax but feeling like you're sitting in the staff break room. Actually they NEED a break room. I don't want to sit there with 6 staff members just loitering around the bar on their phones, gossiping and sharing every intimate detail about their personal lives. BEYOND unprofessional. Take it somewhere else, kids. I'm paying too much money for mediocre food and then listening to your drama on top of it. I never recommend this place to anyone.

Yelp
Great place. Friendly staff, charming atmosphere and food and drinks imaginative and good value.

Yelp
My wife and I got off a Hudson River Boat and this place is directly across the street, what a Gem. We ordered the Waterfront Salad, the FICO Pizza, and each had a delicious cocktail. The garlic sticks that came with our meal was to die for. Our waitress Marie did a Fantastic job taking care us. No pic of the Amazing Salad, sorry. Highly Recommend.

Oliver T.

Yelp
I really enjoyed the meal here. I felt it was one of the better restaurants of recent memory. Good dinner proportion felt generous but healthy and a desert worth for the share. Compliments.

Yelp
savona's was phenomenal! charming atmosphere. one of the best soups served with incredibly delicious bread sticks with oil and spices for dipping. the rabe pizza was fabulous! i wish i lived near one of their 4 locations - i'd love to try the entire menu. simply cannot recommend highly enough. service was perfect, too.

Yelp
Food: 3/5 Vibe: 3/5 Service: 6/5 Our experience here was just okay. It was extremely loud and packed on a Saturday night. We ordered the hot pepperoni pizza and lobster ravioli. Both were decent- nothing we're in a rush to eat again. We also ordered the chocaltismo for dessert. Again, it satisfied the craving but was perfectly average. The highlight of the evening was our server, Kat. She was super attentive, kind, and helpful despite the fact that it was crazy busy and she must've had a dozen things to keep track of at once. For the excellent service only, I would come back here to enjoy a drink and/or an unpretentious meal.

Yelp
Very nice Italian American dining experience. The food was great. We started with Caesar salad with added anchovies. The layered lasagna was delicious and the filet Marsala was cooked to perfection. Service was fine. Portions are rather large, but I understand that's what customers seem to expect.

Yelp
First thing: we ordered off the specials menu and then were told oh--wrong menu, we're out of that. Then we noticed that every other table for bread and when I said something the waitress overheard me and came over to say since I have a dairy allergy & they have butter she was having them make special bread. Fine--but what she brought was just plain toasted bread. She only brought it because she heard me fine. My chicken sandwich was fine but the fries--bland. Not salted & soggy. The fried chicken sandwich was overly fried and lacked something fresh--possibly the garnish of lettuce it was on? Finally, the soda was so watered down. We didn't say anything but when the waitress came to ask if we wanted another she also said she had noticed it was weak & they were changing it. She never brought a new one. So...meh on service. Food was okay. Nothing terrible but nothing great.

Lj H.

Yelp
Terrible service. Customers walking out from no employee acknowledging them (dine in/takeout) Ask for breadsticks otherwise you won't get them. Servers can't find silverware. Servers are not sanitary. No handwashing or gloves. Health Inspectors coming soon.

Krista R.

Yelp
The bar area of the restaurant had a lovely ambiance, and the service was fast and friendly. My salad could have used more dressing/seasoning, but my friend loved her GF flatbread. They are very accommodating to people with GF needs. My special Bloody Mary was missing some of the ingredients described on the menu, and the bacon wrapped shrimp was cold and tough. I would return, but would try some different menu items.

Yelp
We hadn't tried this restaurant since it supplanted a wonderful Lebanese eatery that closed in the pandemic. We were cheerfully greeted and seated in a nicely appointed dining area and noted an outdoor area as well. We were thankful to be inside as it was a hot and steamy evening. We started with cocktails which we selected from among a number of unique choices. A blood orange martini and a Savona old-fashioned were our favorites. The restaurant provided some tasty bread, which was unusual in that it appeared to be coated with oil and seasonings. For appetizers we had an antipasto and a Burrata Caprese. The latter was extraordinary, the former was very good, but not great. All of our entrées were well prepared and generous portions. My personal favorite was the Zuppa Pescatore, which was spiced to order. Desserts of NY cheesecake and Cannolis were quite good. Service was very friendly though occasionally spotty. Overall an excellent dining experience!

Yelp
Delicious food and friendly service. Never thought I'd enjoy pears on a pizza, but I'm glad I tried it!

Yelp
While in Hudson, NY we stopped in to this establishment. To tell you the truth thr smell of the food lured us in- THANK GOD!! We started with thr eggplant tower for appetizer. It was fried eggplant and it was so light, you would not know it was fried!! Thr tower had fresh mozzarella, pesto and some type of cream sauce. Delicious !! For lunch we had the salad, it was fried crunchy chicken with salad that had hard blooded egg, hearts, Kalamata olives, re onions and very home made dressing. It was huge, def for two people to share. Now let's get to the drinks, I had a pear martini and hubs got jack n coke. My drink was soooo delish, you could taste pear nectar and it was nice and strong!! Over all place was great, simple yet elegant decor and air conditioning!!! Lol. Definitely stop here when in Hudson, NY

Molly G.

Yelp
When I tell you I dream about the mozzarella sticks, I'm not funning you. They are unbelievably fresh and so incredibly delicious. The entrees are delish, too! The service...muah! There are multiple Savona's sites (I've been to Kingston and Red Hook), and there's no doubt that Hudson is the best!

Yelp
A prior conworker and I enjoyed a lovely Friday lunch on the patio. The decor is classic and polished and the patio has two levels with plenty of shade. The service was prompt and professional. We could have filled up on the complimentary breadsticks bathed in olive oil and herbs. I had a non alcoholic Spritz and my gf a tequila coctail, both refreshing. My spinach and shrimp salad was fresh. The dressing was just enough portion and the shrimp slightly charred. The pizza had a light burn on the bottom which I appreciate. Not too much cheese, not heavy. I will def make the hour drive back to Warren Street for a dinner event.

Aleathe U.

Yelp
I just visited there for my birthday. The service was perfect, not rushed and everyone was so friendly and courteous. My dish was the Fettuccine Bolognese, which I will recommend to anyone.

Yelp
We had a group of 6 in town for a meeting and walked in for dinner. Everyone was very pleased with the dishes. All the food was delicious, our waiter was great. She was attentive and quick. We had ordered appetizers as well which were also delicious. We had ordered the eggplant and cheese sticks.

Yelp
Drinks were terrible. Maybe the food is okay, we didn't stick around to find out. Friend ordered a grey goose and soda and we got Ed weed old fashioned. They were all undrinkable.. wont be back.

Yelp
Food price / quality (value) rating 9.5. We've been here at least five or six times now. Every visit has been a very good experience. The best part is that the prices here have not gone crazy like most places. Everything was very reasonably priced, drinks, dessert, sandwiches. The GM, Dana, was very "hands-on" when it came to making customers happy, including choosing a fantastic contemporary jazz playlist, and our server, Kendra, was very attentive. I had the Grilled Chicken and Pear sandwich which was excellent, large, and well presented, and the fries (thin, hand cut) were cooked very well done as ordered! The wife had the Eggplant Parmesan and said it was excellent. They offer a limited, but well chosen, selection of draught beer. For dessert, I had their VERY UNIQUE PUMPERNICKEL Bread Pudding with vanilla ice cream. Excellent!!! The wife had the Cannolis, which were very crispy as they were freshly filled. The owners of this restaurant also have three other "Savona" locations, one of which we've been to (Red Hook) and were very happy. I give this place a rare "rave review"!
google avatar

Rachel D.

Yelp
The patio out back was perfect for a lovely fall lunch. The basil limoncello spritz was light and refreshing. We highly recommend the baked rigatoni and nonna's Sunday sauce. Large portions and great flavor. We were visiting from out of town and my husband stated if this place was back in our hometown it would be our favorite Italian restaurant. Our server was very sweet and attentive as well.

Yelp
Came into Hudson and checked out Savona's lunch menu. I ordered off the Prix Fixe menu that is offered a $22 11.30-3:00 lunch. I ordered the garden salad, eggplant parmigiana, NY cheesecake and coffee. Garlic knot breads was yummy and sopped up the delicious marinara sauce. The Eggplant parmigiana did not disappoint and was generous. The Ny cheesecake was just light and creamy enough to hit the spot. My brother got the Panzanella, Butrata Cheese salad. The service was friendly and helpful. Carrie was our waitress and a pleasure go deal with. Tables were spaced a part enough and the indoor seating is spacious and have a nice outdoor patio in the back. I think this was where Vico used to operate before the pandemic. I highly recommend and want to come back and try the other items on the menu as well as the pizza. Cannot wait.

Yelp
Ah-mazing... I ate every bite and I seldomly do. I had the lemoncello martini and the Lemoncello Salmon entree at lunch .. I see a trend.. but Wow. The cheese/ meat board for an appetizer was better than expected. You taste the difference of the imported pepperoni and the rest was of the same quality. Great vibe and service. Wish I got our waitress' name because she was sweet and attentive. I'll be back for sure.

Yelp
Great food, atmosphere and service, fair prices. Nice crowd. We highly recommend Savona's!

Jenna M.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I came here while visiting Hudson and had a great evening. Our server was great and attentive. The pumpkin espresso martini was amazing, and the food was great as well. The portions were large enough to able to split between two people! The ambiance was perfect and it was not too loud at all. We will return next time we are in the area!
google avatar

John R.

Yelp
The pasta dishes were good, the service could have been better, the waiter was not very attentive. We went for long durations without checking on our water or to see if we needed anything else. The two types of bread they had, break sticks and regular sliced bread were terrible. To balance with the good pasta dishes, why don't they have rustic artisan bread? So because of the service and the bread I can only rate them a 3 out of 5.

Charles D.

Yelp
Great food & affordable Service was outstanding Although they forgot my soup before meal , but when I mentioned that I still wanted it with dinner it came directly ( good decision on my part excellent pasta fagioli) When waitress brought the bill we were told that the manager comped our desserts because my soup was forgotten So overall a great meal and service at Savona's in Red Hook NY

N K.

Yelp
I came to celebrate my birthday with my boyfriend. It was an unexpected reservation since we're not from the area. We were so delighted by the service, ambience and definitely loved the food. Had the best birthday dinner ever! It's a must visit Restaurant if you are in the Hudson area!

Yelp
Food is awesome and huge menu lunch and dinner ! Service is excellent friendly and my favorite for pizza

Yelp
this is a place i have visited a number of times, but this event was a total disaster. it was to be a birthday event for my brother, we had family from out of town, there were 13 +and i had made reservations 2 weeks prior. i had called and stop to confirm the count and seating, the tables were not arranged for good conversation ( i had asked the staff to make a big oblong double sided, we started to rearrange the configuration with the same tables in the same allocated space and a staff member with an attitude came running over saying i must seat customers( i guess we were hired off duty help) rather than say oh could i help or this is not going to be a good situation for our business, this person did nothing as we arrived to greet or welcome us as guest.ok over her and a bad attitude, now the service the waitress was doing the best she could, i think they may have been under staffed.so far ok, so now the food i think they must have had a fill in for the Chef, food was a long time coming, it came out in stages, the birthday boy finally received his dish as some were finishing theirs.the food was FAR from what i have had in the past, this story is not SOUR GRAPES it is just a total fact of a party that went SOUTH. and just a bit of kindness ,or step in and help the overburdened waitress from the person in charge would have gone a long way. the food was nothing but mediocre at best. certainly not what i had expected. Oh someone was kind and thoughtful enough to present a wonderful birthday treat with a burning candle .Thank you very much it was well appreciated.

Keith F.

Yelp
Spent $50 for 3 completely awful drinks! I didn't drink only 2 sips of my drink. Slow service, never to go back

Gerry D.

Yelp
dont go out of you way to dine here. my anti pasta was dry and salty, very salty, portion pitifull.service iffy at best. requesting a glass of water took 10 min. appetizers were served with the main course... i shall not return..

Yelp
One of the best meals I've has out in a while. We had the artichoke appetizer, bolognese, and carbonara. They were all delicious. Our server was also great. He was very attentive. Didn't mind we took forever to decide.

Yelp
During a rare get-away weekend we found ourselves at 4pm hungry for an early dinner. Savona's had some wonderful smells wafting onto the street and in we went. So glad we did. The lovely hostess had suggested the BAKED EGGPLANT ROLLATINI - something I'd never order. My husband ordered the ZUPPA PESCATORE and we shared the BURRATA CROSTINI as a starter. The food was one of the best meals we ever had. And our lovely server just made the wonderful meal even better - also she can really sell a dessert so we had to have the lava cake and the pistachio cheesecake. The malbec and montepulciano wines were also exceptional. And the atmosphere was elegant yet casual. So glad we treated ourselves to such a superb meal.

Yelp
Visiting our kids in Hudson we were delighted they brought us to Savona's Trattoria & Bar tonight. The staff was delightful and super accommodating. Our server, Sydney was wonderful and last but not least... what a delicious meal! True Italian dishes, eggplant, pizza, chicken marsala and save room for gelato, Molten chocolate cake and whipped cream! Lovely outdoor seating, looking forward to returning again! You will love this place!

Jim H.

Yelp
This restaurant is a wonderful addition to the otherwise over-priced dining experience at many of Hudson's new and finest; the food is unique and delicious, always has specials, and very warm and welcoming presence. The Anti-pasta for 4 was delicious and beautifully presented...this is a nice little gem of a place!

Lori F.

Yelp
Delicious food, fairly priced. Lovely backyard area in nice weather that is dog-friendly!

Yelp
Fresh flavorful menu - pear salad with fig and arugula - so yum. Pleasant service. Stellar location and ambiance.

Yelp
Hudson needed a great Italian restaurant that is affordable for the family and great quality with each ingredient to use, you can tell by the taste of the food they do not cheap out at all. Very hardworking staff and nice place to have a bite with some friends or fam.

John F.

Yelp
Great service and menu. We were a party of 8 and everyone was happy with the quality of their meals.

Yelp
Absolutely delicious!! Run do not walk! The breadsticks that are provided complimentary are insanely delicious. If you love garlic this is the place for you. Delicious cocktails, cozy atmosphere and very good food. Please do yourself and your taste buds a favor and come enjoy a nice meal at Savona's!!!

Yelp
Hudson is a really strange town. The flock of downstaters that come up here are more often than not an insufferable bunch...it's a strange mix of mostly faux sophisticated NYC folks (the art scene around here reflects it...mostly modern talentless crap done by trust fund brats...those brats include adults too), poodle-in-purse gluten free semi-psychotic snowflakes, and hipsters who apparently are cooler than you because obviously Tame Impala, Fleet Foxes, and the Strokes are geniuses compared to Warren Zevon, King Crimson, and Todd Rundgren. Most of the bars/eateries in this town are full of one of the aforementioned. Fortunately Savona is a saving grace...while it is a chain in the Hudson Valley, they are all quite charming in their own way. Fortunately, the atmosphere isn't the selling point...it's good red saucy Eyetalian in sort of less Godfather-esque kind of Utica joint/setting (I love those too). The Italian wedding soup is divine simplicity (small cup) with diced home made meatballs. Also had the rigatoni with the pink sauce...a smaller portion than one might be used to, but along with comped garlic bread was quite sufficient. Riggies were al dente and a beautiful red sauce with a hint of cream. This place definitely has the formula: very snug, homey, hipster-free, non-pretentious, local Italian trattoria...and priced right. In Hudson...in every which way Savona is a breath of fresh air.

Yelp
Pretty restaurant with both indoor seating and an outdoor patio right on Main Street. Very friendly staff. Excellent locally sourced, fresh food. We had the panini with house salad, and the scallop with corn risotto. Both phenomenal. Limoncello Prosecco cocktail was bright and fresh. Delicious. Very cool, mellow vibe with good relaxing music playlist. Nice ambience. One star removed for bathrooms which need more attention. Will absolutely return.

Lauren K.

Yelp
The service was pretty horrendous. We were there over two hours solely because of how bad and slow the service was. First, it took our waitress 40 minutes to take our order. When someone at our table asked about a drink he ordered 20 minutes before, she snapped at him saying the bar was backed up. The table next to us got two orders of breadsticks and we had to ask for. Paying our check took more than 30 minutes after we asked for it. This is two stars because the food was legitimately good but for the price of the food, how bad the service was with no explanation or apology is really unacceptable. I got the short rib and fettuccine. Short ride was incredible but would've been better with risotto or polenta. Also we got the zucchini flower appetizer which was legitimately good but only came with three which is sort of absurd for $15 and something the waitress should've mentioned when a table of 4 ordered it.

Michaela F.

Yelp
Thought the menu and food looked great here! Went to try it out and waited over 35 min to be seated even though we had a reservation. Bartender was rude, cold and didn't make us feel comfortable in the bar area. Nobody offered round of drinks or anything to accommodate for the inconvenience. We gave up on eating there after standing and waiting for 35 min. Won't be going back.
google avatar

Bernadette R.

Yelp
Excellent food! I've have the Chicken francese and the eggplant rollatini, and salads. Very good sauce and meatballs. The bread served at the table is not my favorite and tastes like pizza dough. It's really a preference. Service was great. We ordered a Caesar salad and never got it, but did not realize it until after we left. I guess we had enough food to never miss it. We ordered take out for work and all the food was delicious and nothing got lost because of the takeout.

Jessica N.

Yelp
I enjoyed the atmosphere---it was lunchtime, and we (party of 4)sat downstairs. Our service was great, (Jenya) but two of our orders for lunch were not so good. We both ordered the chicken, parm and pepperoni hoagie/sandwich. The chicken on it was paper thin and there was also only about five or six slivers of pepperoni. The sandwich was good, but almost all bread. I had to order a side of marinara, because the chicken was so thin and dry , and ask for Parmesan cheese, as there was nowhere near enough, mozzarella on the sandwich to begin with, so I figured some sprinkles of parm would be good. I also got what was the soup of the day instead of the salad. It was called "meatball soup"... it didn't come before my actual lunch, and was not asked if I wanted it like that so I guess I assumed that that's how they serve their lunches, & It came on the same plate with my sandwich. Then, disappointingly it was served with 1 meatball in it! It was no less good, but 1 small meatball in a "meatball soup"? The others of our party of 4, had delicious lunches, and the servings were plenty enough for them. I know that they thoroughly enjoyed what they chose off of the menu, and their two (different) choices looked delicious to me. It was great that at the end of our lunch, the owner came downstairs and asked how everything was, but unfortunately, I was using the restroom at the time! Overall, it was a nice luncheon with friends, but you need to "beef up" on the chicken par/pepperoni hoagie, and if you're going to call your soup of the day "meatball soup", add some meatballs.

Yelp
We were impressed with how solid the food and service were after just a week being open. Reminded us of pre-covid dining experiences. DRINKS: We ordered an Old Fashion and a classic Aperol Spritz. Both were delicious. FOOD: The prosciutto wrapped figs with gorganzola and arugula were divine. I ordered the Chop Chop Salad with grilled chicken and my husband had Penne alla Vodka. We both gave our dishes a enthusiastic thumbs up. The housemade warm breadsticks are also (dangerously) delicious. SERVICE: from the hostess, to our server, to the owner stopping by to say hello, we felt welcomed and taken care of. We can't wait to return.

With 2 other Italian restaurants in walking distance, Ca'Mea and Feast & Floret, I expected a high bar to be set from Savona's. The highlight of my meal was the breadsticks. The veal that was ordered was great, very thin and easy to cut. The green beans and potatoes that were served along side it were salty but had good flavor. The lunch Sunday Sauce came with 1 large meatball and 1 sweet sausage served over pasta. The pasta sauce was quite sweet but there was enough of it to coat the pasta all around. Servings are on the large side. Sandwich fillings compete with the bread. Wine selection was good and the one we ordered was fine. The Espresso Martini was not up to par, it felt light in every way and as someone who can easily feel a drink I did not. Not even a hint of alertness from the supposed espresso. I also went into wanting to try the Cremor Latte dessert drink that is on the online menu but it was replaced with a caramel flavored one so we passed. Service was quick and friendly, our water glasses were kept filled, there was a wait for the meal but nothing excessive. They have outdoor seating on a patio and lower patio. Neither is handicap accessible unless they open the side gate for the lower patio.
