Rating: 1/5 - Unacceptable Execution and Unprofessional Follow-Up
I am compelled to share this detailed, factual account of our disastrous experience hosting our son's rehearsal dinner - a milestone family celebration. Despite clear verbal agreements, a $100 deposit, and a prepaid $595 drink package for 35 guests, the restaurant failed on nearly every commitment. What followed was not only a chaotic event but a dismissive, evasive response from owner Marsha Timme that refused accountability and offered no meaningful restitution.
1 Failure to Provide Exclusive UseWe explicitly booked the entire restaurant from 7:00-9:00 PM. Upon arrival at 7:00 PM, the venue was still full of public diners. Additional walk-ins were seated after our event start time. Patrons lingered until 8:15 PM, forcing our party into a cramped corner while staff served unrelated tables. This was not a "partial closure" misunderstanding--it was a complete breach of contract.
2 Owner Absence and Staff AbandonmentMs. Timme was nowhere to be found at 5:30 PM for scheduled drop-off and setup discussion, nor at 7:00 PM for event start. Staff were visibly unprepared, lacked a designated coordinator, and were stretched thin serving public guests. When technical issues arose with our slideshow (promised to work via flash drive), we were forced to call the owner remotely--she instructed staff to use her personal computer. Our guests had to figure it out
3 Ambiance SabotageDespite requests for soft orchestral music, loud background tracks blared throughout. Two direct requests to lower or change the music were ignored. Tables were jammed into a corner not the open mingling we had discussed.
4 Drink Package Mismanagement and Billing Fraud
Bar menus were placed on tables
Drinks were delivered to wrong guests; two remained unclaimed.
The $100 deposit was not applied to the final bill.
An undisclosed "group charge" ($236.86)
A staff member tried to refuse my personal check (pre-approved by Ms. Timme) again she was not onsite to assist
5 Technical IncompetenceStaff were untrained. Reflections from other active TVs obscured images, and audio was inaudible. This was a key emotional moment for the couple--ruined
Egregious Lack of Follow-Up
* Zero communication for 10 days post-event.
* Ms. Timme later claimed she "waits 10-14 days" before contacting clients--a policy never disclosed and wildly inappropriate for a botched $2,000+ event.
* When finally reached, her response was a lengthy deflection blaming:
A "new reservation system" (irrelevant to on-site failures)
Our failure to "test the slideshow" (despite her not being present to assist) and the bar full of people we were not wanting to share those images with.
Her need for "personal balance" after 14-hour days (unacceptable for a booked private event)
She refused any refund beyond the $100 deposit, claiming food/alcohol was "consumed." This ignores that service was not delivered as contracted. A $100 gift card and "complimentary dinner" offer is insulting for a ruined once-in-a-lifetime event.
We requested:
* refund of ($100 deposit + drink package + $236.86 group fee)
* Written apologies to the couple and to staff (who were left unsupported)
Ms. Timme ignored these reasonable requests. Her email was a masterclass in gaslighting and deflection, not remorse.
Recommendation: AVOID THIS VENUE FOR EVENTS
Savor is not equipped for private functions. The owner prioritizes public revenue over booked commitments, abandons her team, and hides behind excuses when confronted.
For a family-owned business to treat another family this way--especially for a rehearsal dinner--is unconscionable.
Savor ruined a sacred family memory. Do not let them ruin yours.
