Culinary Institute of America Opens New San Antonio Restaurant Savor | Eater Austin

"Reopening the Culinary Institute of America’s restaurant in San Antonio’s Pearl District on January 22, 2019 at 200 East Grayson Street—taking over the space vacated by Latin American restaurant Nao after five years—this modern American, CIA-run dining concept offers three- or four-course dinners with dishes like honey-chili roasted chicken and a Berkshire pork schnitzel topped with a sunny egg. The team plans to partner with local farmers and producers to create rotating, seasonal plates, and a casual bar area will serve snacks such as roasted cauliflower, Brussels sprouts and wings alongside a short list of cocktails, beer and wine. Part of the CIA restaurant group with locations in New York and California, meals will be prepared and served by associate-degree students under instructor supervision, with Chef Uyen Pham and service instructor Samantha Fletcher overseeing operations; dinner service runs Tuesday through Saturday." - Erin Russell

Fantastic service. The staff/students have a wonderful level of energy and talk enthusiastically about the menu. They are able to tell you all about the intricacies of the dishes and the rationale behind them. Do not feel afraid to ask more questions. The students are training for the final semester and it truly shows how professionally trained they are and even if something isn’t right, they are open to criticism and welcome it so they may improve their service. The menu changes every month/few weeks and has a cohesive theme. I can’t wait to come back. They were very kind. I highly recommend the wine or cocktail pairing. It is a great value and they serve top notch wines that thy could charge twice the price for the pairing.

Our server, Max, did an amazing job. He explained the menu, offered helpful recommendations, and made choosing much easier—which was impressive, because everything sounded incredible! The menu changes often, so there’s always something new to try. All the staff and students make you feel truly welcome. It’s a 3 or 4 course meal, and it’s definitely more than enough food. My husband and I ordered different dishes so we could try as much as possible. He did the wine pairing and I chose the cocktail pairing, and we thoroughly enjoyed every part of the experience!

My wife and friend had a conference there a week ago. We decided after doing YouTube research this was our spot. The management and staff/students did not disappoint. Mason was amazing server. Brent is the best Maitre D with service second to none! Katrina (head chef) ran the kitchen staff with class and true professionalism while creating delish food. Everything we tasted and drank was delicious. We all shared each other food and cocktails because they were all fantastic. Highly recommend!! Brent came around to every table to make sure the satisfaction was superb. We will definitely visit again when in San Antonio. Thanks so much.

Date night at Savor located on the Culinary Institute of America campus in the Pearl District. The meals are made from culinary students under the supervision of chefs from around the world. The menu is either a three or four course meal; each course has four options to choose from; and the menu rotates after each class graduates. As an added bonus, we learned they are often open for breakfast which is useful when visiting the weekend Farmers’ Market.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Savor, the student-run restaurant at the Culinary Institute of America in San Antonio's Pearl District. This establishment offers a unique experience where culinary students showcase their skills under the guidance of expert faculty. The four-course meal was exceptional. Each dish was thoughtfully prepared and beautifully presented, reflecting the students' dedication and creativity. The service was attentive and professional, contributing to an overall delightful dining experience. Savor's contemporary American menu incorporates innovative twists on classic dishes, inspired by global cuisines. The restaurant's atmosphere is both trendy and welcoming, making it a perfect spot for special occasions or a memorable night out. I highly recommend Savor to anyone seeking a distinctive and delicious dining experience in San Antonio. It's not just a meal; it's an opportunity to support and witness the development of future culinary professionals. We will definitely be back for more. The rabbit was my favorite. This place is in The Pearl district and one of my go took for a delightful evening, enjoy.

This place was fantastic and amazing. They're all students making a menu and they switch it out every 3 months. We had a Morroccan type of 3 course meal and it was to die for. This place was better than most luxurious restaurants we go too. I also appreciate that the gratuity goes towards their tuition scholarships. They were super attentive and answered our questions. My husband and I will definitely be coming back!!!
