It was our 10th anniversary and my wife was looking for a new nice restaurant for us to try. She found Savour, read a few reviews, suggested the place to me, and made our reservations. When I read the reviews about how couples were offered a complimentary glass of either champagne or wine, and received a handwritten note from the staff welcoming them and thanking them for choosing their establishment to celebrate, I was really looking forward to our experience.
It was very busy and LOUD when we walked in, no doubt thanks to it being 8:30 pm on a Friday night a week before Valentine's Day, and the legislature will soon be in session, so there are a lot of suits in town. Nevertheless, we were warmly greeted, our table was "prepared" and we were taken to it immediately. Much to my disappointment, there was neither a note (but remember it was a Friday night and the place was jam-packed, so I figured there was no time for note writing) nor a complimentary beverage... HOWEVER, we were offered and we _gladly_ accepted a complimentary dessert at the end of our main course.
We started with the Korean BBQ beef tips with pineapple sweet and sour kimchi. Although served in a "small" cast iron dish, there was more than enough for the two of us. The beef tips were sooooo tender and yummy! And the kimchi had a beautiful balance of heat and flavors that nicely complimented the subtle sweetness of the beef tips. There was no discernable pineapple flavor, which made me happy!
For our main courses, my wife ordered the char grilled filet mignon with caramelized onions and smoked mushroom relish, asparagus, and housemade Worcestershire. She also ordered a side of the seasonal mac and cheese. I had the ribeye with heirloom carrots and garlic mashed potatoes. I don't recall what the sauce under the potatoes was - neither the name nor the flavor - so it probably didnt need to be there. Regardless, rest assured BOTH meals were absolutely, fabulously delicious!! And the two white Russian cocktails I had were divine.
For our complimentary, celebratory dessert, we shared and LOVED the Foster's banana creme brulee. It was petite, but after the first two courses, we were secretly relieved for the smaller serving. It was so very tasty - not too sweet, and perfectly brulee'd! Yummmmmm...
We can't wait to go again!! And highly recommend Savour for a lovely, delicious, unrushed evening.
