I came here with my husband for our date night. We had purchased tickets for an Afro beat event in advanced. Upon arrival my husband left his ID at home. Clearly we are over 42+ year old “folks”. My husband had a picture of his ID and passport on his phone and the bouncer would not take anything unless it was physical mind you this bouncer had a chip on his shoulder didn’t even greet us! This is the first face allowing you inside this spot. We are in 2024 mind you it was 11:02pm down pouring rain and no line!!! You just threw money out the window but your lack of customer service was beside us. We ended up at Venu at 11:30 thanks to the 617 crew who walked us right into the club with a line around the corner literally. Bouncers did NOT ID us greeted us and walked us right inside the club with no cover. Do better!

I came to Savvor when they were hosting a private event for an organization’s monthly meet up. The space was great for networking, intimate conversations, and the games we played. I enjoyed the appetizers they served - fried chicken (fried well & not breaded), chips & guacamole, and I believe spicy cauliflower bites. All the staff were kind. Savvor seems like a good place to have a work / organization private event.

Discriminated against me and my friend because we’re Africans! My friend visited Boston for the first time and we wanted to spend the Saturday night at their ‘night club’ event. Around 12:30am, the atmosphere was still so boring in there so we decided to take a quick trip to the Theatre District to see how overall night life in Boston was. We returned at exactly 1:05 and the security asked for our IDs. After showing our ‘African’ passports , he said there’s no re-entry after 1am. We were baffled as no one made that known to us and we had already paid a cover of $50 ($25 each). After few confrontations and explanations, we just gave up and decided to just Uber home. I was surprised how they quickly changed their minds after seeing our passports. Well, we thought it was company policy and there was nothing we could do so we were calling it a night to just go home. This was after about 20 minutes of trying to persuade them, telling the security of how we had no idea of the policy and how they only changed their minds after seeing our passports and our tickets. Just as we were waiting for our Uber, one gentleman (with no African accent and passport) and lady arrived. They were told they couldn’t enter, which made sense to us. This new gentleman called who I supposed was the manager. The manager came to the gate and told him it’s past 1pm, giggling and laughing. He then proceeded to allow them in. My friend was furious and demanded why they were applying different rules to different people. The manager had nothing to say, but shamelessly allowed these new people who had arrived after 1:25pm to enter, still denying us entry! UNBELIEVABLE!!! Couldn’t believe my eyes and the blatant discrimination. First of all, the atmosphere is wack as compared to how vibrant this place used to be in the past. Now I understand why patronage gets thinner and thinner every Saturday evening. I have heard people complain about discrimination, but never thought it was so blatantly displayed! I will never visit this place again as there’re better Afrobeats places like ICON with more luxurious and welcoming vibe. Please don’t waste your time visiting here on Saturday night!

DELICIOUS!! The food was amazing, even as leftovers the next day. The staff were really friendly and helpful and the dj was good too. The ambience is an interesting mix of club and fine dining, that works with the food. The drinks are good too!

It was Taco Tuesday/Game night. The tacos were mediocre at best. I had the fish tacos. My friends who tried the others shared the same sentiment. The music was way to loud for us to enjoy conversation or playing the board games amongst us. The selection of music was great, but just too loud. The service was not very good either. The food took waaay too long to come out and when we finally got our food the server left our table so fast with out asking if we needed anything else. We had to flag her down for utensils, plates and napkins. In which she returned quickly with but left just as quickly. I wasn't able to ask for a refill of my water or the extra basket of fries I would have ordered. She also did not warn us that the kitchen would be closing after she served us so when we flagged her down the 3rd time to order those fries the kitchen was closed, then when the bill came the tip was already calculated in and there was only 3 of us at the table. I would not return for a taco Tuesday. Perhaps after covid for a dance party.

The bartenders were on point and kept great conversation flowing .However the dj sucked ………Maybe cuz I’m from the south or didn’t hear enough but hey the crowd was not there and they need a life line fr.

It was my first time there. It was last minute. Decent size place. Plenty of people came that night. Dj was good. I will have to visit again.

Was excited to go for my birthday because I’ve heard good things. But they didn’t answer the phone for days on end so we wound up going elsewhere.

Yelp
The music is right. You get a mixture of everything. They played everything from the 90s till now and the best of reggae. It's actually a mixture of songs in there. I think they play some Haitian. The staff is so cool down to earth, I heard there's food here, but I wasn't able to eat it because I pulled up at 12. But I'm definitely going to go back and try because the way the customers were talking about it. All in all, I had a great time. It's so spacious, so you're not sitting there bumping into people.

Anshelle T.

Yelp
We went to the Afro beats night and had a blast. The DJ was awesome, our waitress with the beautiful red hair was such a sweetheart and very helpful. Those chicken wings and plantains were so good and fresh! The people there were also a vibe no drama just a good time. My only criticism is the bathroom plumbing issues. I think it's worth the investment to have them fixed.

Tory M.

Yelp
The people that work there are ignorant & way in over their head. They think too highly of themselves. Especially the manager or whatever he is (short black dude with glasses) & the big dude at the door with the beard. The female bouncer was cool but most of them are ignorant & they don't know how to talk to people properly. Whoever owns this place clearly doesn't care about their establishment enough to hire decent people. The food is edible but nothing to die for (probably like a last option) & the drinks are overpriced with tip included. The place is small, super dirty & they also overcharge at the door.

Reggie W.

Yelp
I really want to like this spot, but I feel like there's a lot of room to improve. I came on a Friday night and there was a networking event that night. The event and host were cool and I like they had a few TV's to watch the game. However when I ordered a burger and fries it was bland. The fries were soggy, the burger bun was much bigger than the burger. My standards are not the high for bar food and it felt like not a lot of effort or love went into it. I'm not sure if there was a shortage of burger patties or something, but it's not a good look for their food at all. Also, I had to order the food on the servers portable cash machine, which is unacceptable. I've been here before and they had menus, not sure what happened that night, but still not a good look. I'm not completely writing Savor Lounge off, they usually draw a cool crowd and the servers are nice too.

Yelp
This place is open late night on Sundays yet does not state that anywhere online. Regularly there are disturbances at 2am when patrons leave. Early this morning at 2:30am there was a large group fighting on the street, many police officers showed up to disburse everyone. Your "restaurant" is in a residential neighborhood, respect your neighbors and control the late night crowds.

Alex G.

Yelp
Parking can be tough but there is a garage nearby. The music is good and the vibe is nice. My only critique is I came here for an event and there are things that could of been done better. Like wait times, we sat around a lot. But the food was amazing. The short rib was well spiced and savory. The mash was rich and creamy. I would come back to host an event or just to eat. A true hidden gem.

Eunice I.

Yelp
Just ate here. I ordered the mango jerk wings with fries and those were really good. I enjoyed it. Good amount of heat and they were very flavorful. I also had the passion fruit mimosa and pain killah, and I would definitely recommend those two drinks. Music was really good, albeit loud. Only thing that could be improved is the service was a little slow, but our waitress did the best she could serving as many people as she was.

Davetta K.

Yelp
This is not a day time venu, this is the third time I've been and it was trash. Two women came over to drop food off and by the time I turned around they were gone. Didn't ask if we wanted drinks or needed anything just a damn mess. So after 20 minutes and no return we went to the bar, reading the room on the way it seemed like only two people were working and one of them was serving food and working the bar. It was a damn mess, not even 30 minutes and I just left. Not to mention people were holding up the bar. A dude turned around looked us up and down said nothing but when I asked his stupid ass if he was in line , he said no ... that was the breaking point. If you do come, only come for the late nightlife.

Sara S.

Yelp
Good God, this place is a nightmare. The girls inside are very nice. However, the bouncer is on another level he put his hands on a woman. He beat her up for no reason. Her stuff was inside she wanted to grab it and he was like no absolutely not and he put his hands on her. That's basically what happened. The girls were very nice inside the bouncer was not. They need to fire him! He has a beard and he's big. Inappropriate very inappropriate!

Yelp
Found a soca brunch on Eventbrite and was super excited! Event started at 2pm -- a tad late for brunch, but the DJ was great. Showed up around 4 and the place was pretty empty. Looked like a club instead of a restaurant like some other reviews warned. The brunch menu had extremely limited choices and was different than what I had seen online beforehand. I got a passionfruit mimosa ($12 - in a plastic flute) and a waffle which was actually really quite good. The waffle came out before the mimosa, and the food came out separately for each of us at the table. Other tables seemed to get to order off menu items -- and had glass champagne flutes. I had to get my own silverware. The bill charged $2 more per item than was on the menu. The manager fixed it for us, but I recommend you check your bill. Pretty disappointing overall.

Yelp
Not sure how I missed this as a live music venue to bookmark. Thanks to my WomanBaby's co-performer, Savvor was our Saturday night destination. Part restaurant (light Caribbean cuisine), part bar, part live music & part lounge, entertainment versatliy at its best. An artsy & island interior setting with colorful furniture & accents. We arrived around 9:45pm where the restaurant aspect was turning over to lounge mode. You can still order food (entrees/small plate options) & dine at the tables, yet it's going to cost you a $300 bottle service to do so. We made our way to the bar that wasn't opened yet to serve, which is situated close to the DJ area. I got the perfect seat to watch the band & was good to go. Kristin the Hostess wore many hats in providing us with her 5 star service. She served as a runner until our bar was opened. & then there was Chris, our EVERYTHING ABOUT HIM WAS FANTASTIC Bartender. He most absolutely kept us very happy over the next few hours. Another dose of great customer service extended, as when I requested additional salad dressing it was incorrect & realized as much after I drenched my salad. The kitchen replaced my salad. I had the 'Summer Salad' made with grilled peaches, strawberries, fennel, red onion, added grilled Salmon tossed in Honey Balsamic. WomanBaby & her BFF order the Honey BBQ Wings, Black Eyed Peas & Rice. The food & 2 rounds of libations with 3 drinks each had our outing at $75. Pretty good price point especially on a Saturday night in Boston's Leather District. Once the cover band stopped playing, the DJ got on the mic & the lounge flow was in full effect. A great mix of RB/Hip Hop music for any age with open parts of the floor become the dancing zone. There's a $10 cover after 11:30pm, a Coat Check & friendly Bouncers. Kristin & Chris definitely made our late night party at the bar an eventful one. Savvor has been bookmarked.

Yelp
Came here for AfroBeat Friday. Came at 10pm and there was no one there except a couple of tables having dinner. At 10:30, the place was still dead. My friend and I were hungry so we asked the short (fake blond) waitress if we could order food & drinks. She said dinner was no longer an option and that there was no bar menu (in a very dismissive & rude manner). We left and ate somewhere nearby. Came back at 12:00 ..a few more people there but they wanted to charge a $20 cover per person, even though we had tickets and had RSVPd. And they told us earlier that women could get in for free. The service was wack as hell. Definitely wouldn't return.

Yelp
The girls who work inside are amazing. This review is specifically for the bouncer outside. He was unnecessarily aggressive with my friend (a woman). She now has bruises on her arms and a busted lip because of his unnecessary force. We had been coming in and out all night with 0 problems but he decided to get aggressive when she was out there by herself. Absolutely disgusting and management has yet to reach out to anyone about the incident despite being emailed and contacted several times. Don't come here

Rosa A.

Yelp
EDDIE was a fantastic host and staff was great !!! absolutely LOVED the wings and sliders !!! really cool and unique place to visit!! must visit if your in the city!

Sean N.

Yelp
Went here for a date night last night. Decided not to listen to the reviews and see for myself what was going on. The bouncer outside quite literally punched me in the face, knocked me unconscious, and had me at Tufts Medical Center til 4 AM. And they won't pick up the phone to speak with me about it. Would absolutely give 0 stars if I could. I am also reporting them to the BBB.

Sarah Q.

Yelp
I attended an event at this establishment and had a horrible encounter with Tank the bouncer. He was rude and grotesque to say the least. He should never work with other human beings ever. I feel insulted to have had any encounter with such a disgusting person. I WILL NEVER RETURN TO THIS PLACE. I do not recommend.

Tiauna A.

Yelp
business hours are not up to date. came at 6 was told they open at 7... went to Stillwater (amazing place 10/10) came back at 7:08 to be told by another staff they don't open until 8pm. please update hours on sites. came from out of town.

Shaku G.

Yelp
Never had the opportunity to dine at this establishment. I showed up on more than one occasion with a group of colleagues, apparently the TIME frames they advertise are false. Last week on Thursday we arrived at 5PM THEYRE CLOSED. Called multiple times. TODAY we decided to participate in Boston's Black Owned Restaurant Challenge by dining here (Wednesday February 5th @ 6PM) DOORS LOCKED, this is why no one takes minority owned businesses in our community serious. Just change the advertising please.

Ken S.

Yelp
Ok,this is my 1st visit here. Arrived 7:30ish on a Friday with a group of ten. We were the 1st people this evening which seems to be part restaurant/part club. They "sometimes" have live entertainment, but not tonight. (hmmmm). We waited almost 15 min before we were served the complimentary corn bread ...which had the potential to be fabulous, but it was less than lukewarm by the time it reached our table. It was served w/a honey butter ...that too was cold. Cold butter on cold bread, not a good combination. From the time our order was placed, we wait aprox 1 hour. Mind you there were no more than 20 people in this establishment, but our food takes upwards of an hour to come out. That tells me the kitchen doesn't have their ish 2gether. Our server wasn't a great communicator, only saying food was coming up once we asked. Decor- there was a cluster of seating booths near the bar all needed to be re-upolstered. I should not be looking at duct tape or holes in the seats. Several ladies in our group reported there was no soap in the ladies room (again only 20-30 people in the entire establishment). Attention to detail is not a strong point here. I had Coconut Curry Chicken, (I give it a C-, others liked it), Shrimp Etoufee (needs more spice), Beef Short ribs (B+), Chicken/Waffles (They liked it), Overall the FOH & BOH staff needs a kick in the butt.. they need to invest in training and decor if they want to keep the doors open. If not I give them 3-6 months tops at this rate.

Joshua K.

Yelp
This was an interesting experience. The HennyRita is a drink to get for a good time. At night they have a DJ that turns the place into a club with some amazing afrobeat music. The low rating come from the food. The jerk chicken was soggy and just watery. The jerk mix isnt good. I got it switched out with just chicken wings but that was am just bland. The food others got wasmt anything to rave about and is for sure pricey. If you have a large group they cannot split the check so prepare for that if you do a large group.

Miranda S.

Yelp
Very disappointed with how I was treated by the staff during its lounge hours. I contacted Savvor in hopes of having a healthy dialogue of my experience, but received zero response. As a paying customer, the least they could do is call or email me back. Sadly, I won't be returning. I was randomly targeted & made to follow some rules by the 2 people at the door (take off my hat, take off my light jacket that was a part of my outfit) while countless people (including my friends) WALKED BY IN HATS AND HEAVY JACKETS. My friend literally walked in before me in a fur coat. This is after the person at the door was commenting on my looks (kind of hitting on me). I felt like they were bothering me and only me. Very weird. I voiced that I was being treated differently than everyone else and asked what was their issue with me and got cursed out. I was ready to just leave but my friends asked me to stay. Then when I was leaving, I went to get my jacket from coat check and the same bouncer purposely let someone go in front of me and took his ticket first. Clearly had an issue with me for saying something. Mind you, the guy had a hat on and this is the same man that made me take off my hat. After this, I was cursed out by the bouncer for taking too long to put my jacket and gloves on - he said I'm taking too long in "his hallway." If they can't be calm and respectful and enforce the same rules for everybody, they shouldn't be working there. Like relax, guys. I had a very unprofessional experience all around, and didn't even get a response back from Savvor.

Gary G.

Yelp
This is not a restaurant, it is a nightclub. Music is so loud you can't speak. Beware!

Devin C.

Yelp
In town for the Grand Opening of Powerhouse Church Boston and our esteemed host suggested this establishment. When I tell you the service was absolutely amazing, the food amazing, and when I say food I mean every dish my faves tonight were the Cajun Pasta and the Jerk MAC-N-CHEESE. This establishment will be a Boston goto for me.

Collette A.

Yelp
Made plans to visit Savvor with my husband last Wednesday. I checked the website for hours of operation, website indicated restaurant opens at 5. Showed up around 4:45 and waited, and waited and waited. Checked doors several times, called on the phone no response. Finally left around 5:30. What I can't believe is that there is no recordings when you call their business as to hours, business name, etc. I sent an email the following day and still waiting for a response. Time to cross them off my list.

Tiffani J.

Yelp
The live band was good, but they only played two songs while we were there. On my second visit they did not have a vocalist like they did on my first visit. Needless to say, I went around 7:30 on a Saturday and the place was pretty empty. I went at 9:45 on Friday, and it was about the same. The live music ends at 11pm so a dj can take over. I hear that there are nice crowds on Friday (younger crowd) and Saturdays (more mature, professional around 30s/40s). I haven't seen either. Hopefully, my next visit will be better.

Jessica Y.

Yelp
There aren't that many restaurants in the heart of Boston that offers Southern Soul food. So I decided to check Savvor out on a Saturday in June as it is quite new in the area. We almost walked right past it because the sign of the restaurant wasn't obvious. We got there at 5:30pm for dinner and there was no one else in there. The set-up was quite nice with an ample space for dancing and tables for eating. We ordered some drinks and I got the white peach sangria (I forgot the actual name of the drink). The drink was good. Our waitress brought out cornbread for us. It was soft, not too dry and buttery. We ordered grilled corn (they ran out of hushpuppies!), whole fish (not spicy) and coconut curry (spicy) for entrees. The grilled corn came out to be too dry for my liking. The fish was grilled just right, so the meat maintained its sweetness and juiciness. The rice and beans next to it was delicious. It was soft and tasty and didn't drive the show away from the fish. The curry dish, however, was spicy. I could taste the coconut flavor, but the spicy kick didn't come until after I swallowed. It was definitely hot. Our waitress didn't ask us how spicy we wanted the curry dish. I'm assuming they made the curry in bulk. It would be nice to see this restaurant stick around.

Yelp
This might be one of my new favorite spots in the city. It's hidden on the out skirts of Chinatown, not far from South Station. Street parking is available. The food was amazing! I went with a group we ordered a whole bunch of food. We ordered Johnny cakes, hush puppies, jerk wings topped with onion fritters, tostones, Tennessee Fried chicken and the corn which had some great flavors. Fully satisfied with the service, our bartender was great! Responsive and helpful and very attentive. We met the owners who made sure we were enjoying our meal. The atmosphere is trendy and calming, they also displayed the work of local artists. A cool place that I will throughly check out again!

Yelp
Hello I'm street eating legend King Eat, and today I'll be reviewing Savvor Restaurant and Lounge!! Savvor was not bad I gotta say. Keep in mind they play live music here so the place is going to be loud. If you're looking to discuss stocks and bonds, or talk about the weather.... it'll be difficult, but you knew that because they play live music. The waitstaff was very friendly, always a plus. Our meal started off with some complimentary biscuits and cornbread. Not bad. Neither of them were anything crazy, but for being complimentary? I'm not going to complain. Next up for an app we got the tempura fried catfish, which was actually pretty good. I guess they realized they were in Chinatown and tried to do something more regional to their surroundings. Personally I'd be happier with some cornmeal fried catfish, but it was still good, I'd recommend it. As a table side we got the mac and cheese, and I hate to say it, but it was pretty bland. No real cheesy flavor, it tasted like it was all cream, and no cheese. My main course was the Hot Fried Chicken and waffle. Was it hot? I mean... temperature wise it was, but in terms of spice like Tennessee hot fried chicken should be? No. It still tasted good, and was cooked well. The waffle was cool, once again nothing fantastic, but good. The sweet potato pie we had for dessert. tasted like sweet potato pie. Nothing outstanding, but it was good because it's sweet potato pie, and it's always good. All in all: Would I go back? Sure. However there are some places for certain items I'd hit first before going to Savvor

Jay B.

Yelp
Good: I had chicken with waffles, it was tasty, chicken moist. Bad: Went with friends and had reservations for private room. Waited over an hour after our reservation and our party was told they ran out of rice, chicken wings, gumbo, and succotach. Mind you it was about 10pm and our reservation was at 9pm. Although they comped a few of the errors it was dissapointing that we traveled here to enjoy some Southern food. Music was loud when we arrived about 8:30pm and during the whole dinner.

Elyse B.

Yelp
This place wreaks or urine. From the moment my sister and I sat down we were disgusted and could smell an overwhelming odor. The server made no effort to welcome us despite the fact the business was empty. The staff kept staring as if they were surprised they had patrons. This place has so much potential but the overall vibe seems like no one cares.

Precious P.

Yelp
Came to enjoy a little night life in Boston and this place is super HOT!! I was just standing and couldn't enjoy myself to dance because it's so SUPER HOT!! They owners need to need to work on their cooling system ASAP!!! This makes no sense how hot it is!! It's a cute location with cute art and deco I do like. The Dj needs to play more Caribbean music dough!!

Jnic H.

Yelp
I am visiting Boston for my first time and my family bought me here to enjoy a more descent experience on African American cuisine. You may not notice this shop at first glance because the sign board is black and the street is quiet too. Menu is simple and direct, you can make the choice easily. You can always ask the waitress what is the special of the day and she will be happy to tell you. I ordered a Catfish small plate and it was just nice for me. The Terriyaki sauce taste so special that I almost lick the plate. The specialty Chicken and waffles (one of the African American dishes) is different from the traditional Chicken and Waffles too. They sprinkled some peppers on top which enrich the flavor. Waffles are fluffy and chicken is juicy with a little spices on the skin. If you are ordering this for children, make sure you tell the waitress no spicy. They have a bar and a dance floor too. Different liquors, beers and wine are served. Just check out on the menu and order what you want. I love the arts/ painting that the restaurant has. it just make the restaurant looks so different at different time. Good place to chill with friends for couple drinks and also have a good family dinner.

Aria Y.

Yelp
This place is AMAZING!!!!!! I came here for the first time and was blown away by how awesome the music was, the vibe, the drinks, everything! The staff were so nice and friendly and I had such a good time. I'm definitely coming back!

Kathleen S.

Yelp
Made a reservation on OpenTable 1 week before desired day, showed up for dinner and the doors were locked. Could see through the window, lights and TV were on, all chairs were on the tables and no one was around. Unclear why it was not open.

Brit L.

Yelp
Food is stellar! So this place can be a little hard to find but it is SO worth the hunt! I was introduced to this place by a friend and ended up going back a few days later with a different friend - paying it forward and all that. First night, I got the chicken and waffles - DELICIOUS and a large enough portion that I had enough for lunch the next day which may have been even better! Second night I had the braised beef short ribs. SO rich and again, enough left over for lunch the next day. This night there was a live jazz band and they were fantastic. The place is known for its nightlife but I promise you, you're missing out if you're not trying the food.

Ray A.

Yelp
I've have been to Savvor during late night events but not for the food, so decided to try. I was not disappointed. I had the boullette burger (salute to my Haitians) that came with a side of fries. The burger was juicy and flavorful with the right amount of seasoning and spices. It also had pikliz which added more kick. Also tried the mac n cheese which was creamy and also flavorful. Must try the cornbread that is served instead of bread rolls pryor to receiving your meal. It is shared with a honey butter that adds a sweet taste. Personally wish the cornbread was a little warmer but overall good. Will be back to try the other plates on the menu

Atinuke B.

Yelp
Don't do it! Stay home or go somewhere else! I'm sure this place started out well but something went wrong cause the place is falling apart. Well, the duct tape on the seats are doing their best but the rips and holes in the the upholstery have clearly won the battle. The bathroom is also experiencing some PTSD or something cause it smells terrible once you walk in and floor tiles are all coming up. Oh and more duct tape. We got there at 7:30 and the place was dead except for a very loud medium sized party that was going on in the corner. No one came in after us till about 10:30. 4 people I think. That was it. The food. Nope. The only safe bet is the wings. The complimentary cornbread was reheated and dry. They did not have the craw fish hush puppies so I got the barbecue plate with chicken which was pink chicken slathered with salty barbecue sauce. The mac and cheese looked inedible and tasted horrible. The greens which we were told was only just made fresh were also lukewarm by the time we got it. The Steak frites was terrible. Food came out cold and the steak looked more like veal and was overloaded with thyme. It had to be sent back for re heating. The fries were limp and soggy. We ordered the Empanadas which were initially said to contain meat but we were later told that there was no meat so my friend got potato and veggie empanadas instead. But they were hot. Service was altogether slow from seating (in a practically empty place) to getting our check. The music got insanely loud as the place slowly morphed into a club so we really wanted our check but since there were just two servers, we were there much longer than we wanted to be. Long story short, for all the hassle of leaving home and hunting for parking, it was sooo not worth it. But the drinks were not bad.

Yelp
Terrible customer service! Wanted to plan an event for my sisters baby shower. Their initial response was yes but once we got done to the final details they never got back to us. I can't speak for the food, but I can for their service. Terrible!!!

Yelp
If you love that homemade taste and an atmosphere that is inclusive, then you HAVE to get to this restaurant. Food is so damn good.

Yelp
Food and drinks only. Service was OK only because I felt that the workers shouldn't be sitting on the phone when a customer comes in. I came here with my friend on last Friday after looking at the yelp reviews. We came in right when it just opened so there wasn't anyone in there. The workers were just sitting there on their cell phones by the bar. It was kinda sketchy walking in because no one was standing at the hostess stand. But we walked all the way in and a guy came out and pulled the menu from the drawers and the lady came to seat us after seeing him pull the menu out. I order the hennygria, my friend had the Killah. It was OK. We ordered tamarind wings.. Very good, I like it when the wings are crispy and sauce-y and they were just that. We also ordered the crawfish hush puppies.. I love those! My friend thought it was kind of dry though but that's what the sauce was there for. We also ordered one entree, it was the red wine braised short ribs. The short ribs where sort of fatty...the grits was tasteful though.

Yelp
I wanted to give this place a try. I have seen mixed reviews - one site rated Savvor 4.4/5 so I decided to give it a try. I made 7:15 reservations. Here are my thoughts: Establishment: -5/5 The place is raggedy. It was hard to find the entrance and when we did we were questioning our decision to dine here. Going through the shabby hallway and past the outdated coat check (abandoned), it looks like a lounge with only two couches (and there were about two people in that area). Lighting was dim in that section but when we were escorted to our table around the corner, it looked like the white light from an insane asylum. The table was small and unstable. There was only one party eating dinner who just received the check. There was no heat! I asked if the heat could be turned up and was told it takes awhile. For a place that opens at 5 pm, it should be warm by 7:15 pm. I wore my coat the whole time at dinner. When we left there was only one other party that was seated and I think only getting drinks (a sign everyone else read reviews about this place and knew better not to eat there). Service: 1/5 Our waitress was pleasant but very hard to find despite only having two tables to wait on. The food also took FOREVER which I will note my suspicions below. Food: -5/5 We ordered the mac and cheese dreaming of a breaded top and more of casserole style mac. It seamed stove top with no flavor and then baked for a minute. Plantains which were cut more like a flat banana instead of round circles. Not sure if the fried and baked but the plantains had no flavor and were over cooked and tough to eat. Green - I didn't even taste these because my friend who ate them was disgusted and only had a bite. Rice - same reason as above. My meal was the steak frites medium rare. I was looking forward to the $20+ steak. I think the reason why our food took so long is that the old meat was frozen and partially cooked before they cooked it. It came out grey with no red or pink, already cut (I haven't had steak frites pre-cut before) and I didn't know if it was cold because the heat wasn't on and since it wasn't good I took my time to eat it but feel its because it was probably frozen. The arugula that came with it seemed frozen as well and I didn't even touch it. The waitress offered us free "day old Valentine's day dessert" but we gladly declined seeming day old cupcakes and strawberries infused with Hennessy and Ciroq would be a health hazard. Price -5/5 We should be paid to eat there. Highly over priced for day old and frozen everything. Summary - This place could have potential if everything was fresh and they redid the entire inside, put on the heat, and add live music like their website says. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE.

Yelp
Lots of fun and great drinks. The bartenders are super friendly. I relented when this place was called The District. It has the same dope vibe.

Yelp
I went here on a Saturday evening for my cousins birthday and I loved the live music w smooth R & B notes w a beautiful songstress. Nice and relaxing over conversation and dinner. The food had lots of flavor and good portion size. Great southern comfort food and some w caribbean flare Then the night turns into a lounge for dancing and drinks. Music a mix or old school r & b to today's R & B, hip hop, and dancehall and caribbean tunes. Crowd is young 20's to young 30 somethings. I came back another time for a small get together w my old classmates. After a certain time they provide a late night menu. I had the jerk wings that were savory and mildly spicy very tolerable. Very flavorful sauteed w caramelized onions. They were messy but finger lickin' good next time I'll try the tamarind wings. We reserved the smaller area on the side because of long tables and long bench seating. We watched the Pats game, had drinks, good eats, laughed and danced. Both experiences were great !!! Oh and decor is pretty nice.

Yelp
i love my neighborhood, and i LOVE small plates, and i never really liked waking up at 2am when district let all the drunks out into the wild for the night.... so when i heard that Savvor was taking over the District space with southern small plates.... ON MY BLOCK.... i just about freaked out. but i tried to keep my expectations in check because i didn't want to be disappointed... and let me tell you - i've been a few times now and still have a smile on my face. opening night at savvor didn't feel like a new restaurant at all... which i think is one of the greatest things you can say of any opening night. eddy the owner came over and chatted with us and actually sat down at the table with us for 5/10 minutes asking what we thought - what we liked - what we didn't like. we talked to him about the neighborhood and he expressed a desire to be part of our community and to see neighbors in his restaurant and told us he even has a 10% discount for leather district customers. tweeted at chef dobies when we tried his house brined/smoked duck ham au natural. it was ridiculously good and we needed to tell him! he actually came out of the kitchen to come and talk to us for a few minutes - and he was a total sweetheart. country ham with lemon zest and garlic oil is melt in your mouth good. only thing i wish they served with their "from the larder" menu section is bread or biscuits with your meat (and some cheese to get some southern charcuterie goin on!)..... but if you ask for the biscuits - they'll hook you up. the chicken and waffles are actually cornmeal fried quail and waffles.... and very tasty.... but the quail is just too small for a dish like this and we found ourselves eating it like tiny chicken wings just to get the meat. we brought it up and they indicated that they were going to be switching out the fowl season to season. blueberry jam was more like blueberry compote and great balance of tangy and sweet. the mac and cheese i think is my favorite mac and cheese in boston.... and my plan is always to save some country ham to eat in the same bite as my mac.... but i just don't have the will power. cheesiness level is dreamy... and the confit garlic all mashed up with the back of your fork and mixed around..... *swoon* oysters are fried in cornmeal .... very tasty (if not a bit on the small side) - and the celery root remoulade is bowl licking good.... crawfish hushpuppies are so good and much more full of crawfish than i imagined they would be. so crispy. dipping sauce was nice too. didn't think we would be able to finish these because they're so rich.... and then we did. service (led by GM courtney) was excellent. they remembered us on our second visit - always smiling, always making sure we were happy.... and as we closed out our bill one night - the team had already gone to get our coats from coat check without even needing our number or waiting for us to ask. wonderful. looking forward to this place growing their menu and becoming part of our community.... and they confirmed the rumor that they will be having brunch too! brunch and small plates and a nice glass of sparkling rose. welcome savvor! :)

Yelp
WORST experience at a lounge that I have ever had! I've come to Savvor a handful of times over the past two years and each time, the experience seems to get worse. I've learned my lesson finally. So, here's what happened last Saturday: Me and a few girlfriends decided to have dinner at Savvor and tipped well even though the service was INCREDIBLY slow and the waitress seemed like she had no idea what was going on. She cleared our table before we finished eating (literally put a napkin over my chicken and took my plate before I could even say anything). She also took our utensils, brought the second portion of our meal, and never came back with new utensils. We were sitting for about 10 minutes, while waving frantically to get her attention to no avail. We eventually grabbed forks from another table. Food was great, so there are no complaints, and although the service was mediocre, it doesn't warrant the 1 star review. The treatment that we received from the bouncers and the coat check lady is what will never allow me to step foot there again. After dinner, we asked if it would be okay for us to step out and be able to come back in for the DJ. They said yes, stamped us, and we were good to go. We stepped out for about 15 minutes to put our purses in the car (which was a bit of a walk away) etc. When we came back, the bouncer was super rude and told us we could not get in and said "weren't you guys gone for an hour?" Completely shocked, we all said absolutely not. He finally lets us in and then I was told that it is mandatory that I take off my leather jacket. I already knew about their ridiculous coat policy, but I my leather jacket was part of my outfit. I specifically left my winter coat in the car and my outfit was a bit revealing so the jacket was what kept it classy. Either way, it was part of the outfit. I didn't feel comfortable keeping it off all night. The coat check lady and the bouncer inside were of course really mean and loud about it and would not budge. She told us that if we stayed inside and didn't go out to our car, I would have been able to keep my flimsy leather jacket on. WHAT? So my friends and I decided that we would spend the evening somewhere else. Here's the kicker. Once we got out, the people in the line were snickering and the bouncer yelled out "ya'll are leaving because you're broke b*tches!* ---- Yep, a paying customer who respectfully decided to spend her night somewhere else is completely disrespected by the bouncer of the establishment that they are walking away from. Let's be clear, bouncers aren't rich, I spent what this guy probably makes in two days on dinner...but that's besides the point. I've experienced poor treatment by the bouncers at Savvor before, but it has never been at this level. My blood is still boiling from that. Quite a few people I know experienced similar treatment and It's pretty sad. Yea, never again. I will definitely report this place to the BBB.

Yelp
I was really worried when I entered this place at 6:30 on a Saturday and it was completely empty. There were only a few tables in the place as well. It seemed like dinner service wasn't a big thing here. The more we ate the more my worries disappeared. They're doing a service to Southern food here and it's pretty damned good. Corn bread had a terrific sweet crust and wasn't too dry. I was skeptical at ordering a $14 bowl of gumbo, but this thing was well worth it's price tag. Chock full of goodies such as a chicken confit leg, several shrimp, and okra, it packed a flavorful punch. This was a great dish and worth a repeat. Also worth repeating was the chicken and waffles. Juicy fried chicken paired with a nice fluffy waffle that wasn't too sweet. Eating these together was blissful. The pork chop was just decent, but the sides were Southern classics and great. Drinks were small but strong and well made. The food made the visit worthwhile but I worry that it won't be around much longer at this location.

Yelp
A welcome addition to the small Leather District neighborhood. Savvor is one of the friendliest and welcoming restaurants in Boston. The staff here go above and beyond to get to know their customers, and make sure everyone is happy. The draught list is relatively small but filled with good local choices, offering a mix of styles (not just a bunch of IPAs or a bunch of pale lagers), most recently including Slumbrew Porter Square Porter, Baxter Pamola Xtra Pale Ale, Clownshoes Galactica IPA, and Sam Adams Brick Red. The cocktails are inventive and the bar staff is more than willing to help find a cocktail that suits your tastes. Give the Flip N Stout a try, it's a heavenly mix of rum, honey, lemon, egg and Porter Square Porter! And the food. It's indulgent and comforting southern food with Caribbean influences. The Crawfish Hushpuppies have a good amount of crawfish in them and are just the right balance of savory and sweet. The BBQ Cracklins satisfied my need for something salty to go along with my Porter Square Porter. The Macaroni & Cheese, made with Pretty Things Jack D'Or, is rich, creamy, and everything I wanted it to be. The first dish I had in Savvor was the Yaka Mein. I think I had a transcendent experience eating it. A southern take on ramen, with oxtail and brisket, a slow cooked egg, and old bay seasoning, it was perfect. They also serve a late night menu and brunch on Sundays, and offer live music several nights a week. Check them out. You won't regret it.
