11 Best Asian Restaurants Near Savannah, Georgia | Eater Carolinas

"Nestled in Pooler’s Canal Street plaza, this classic is trusted by aunties and international SCAD students alike. Sawadee Ka Thai Cuisine & Pho opened in 2018, and Savannah’s spice tolerance has steadily improved since. Though not a Thai delicacy, Sawadee saw Savannah’s pho deficit and decided to do something about it — many regard theirs as the best in the city." - Kiki Dy

Nice little Thai restaurant with super friendly staff. I’m Thai and I enjoy this place. Very honest review here: the taste of Pad See Ew I had wasn’t authentic but it’s good; the fried rice was good; the fried calamari was also good (they do thick cut so the calamari was still juicy). We want our fried rice cooked a certain way and the staff was patient with us and accommodate our requests. Overall, a very positive experience and will definitely come back when I’m in town

Google
Friendly-Family operated. It's my go-to Thai place in all of Savannah. It rivals any other Thai I have had in the US. They have phenomenal Pho soup as well. Service is 5 star with a smile. You can't go wrong here. My dish that I order 90% of the time at every Thai restaurant is the Pad Kra-pow. chicken, basil with no onions, substitute green beens, Thai Spicy. Normal diners may want to adjust the spice level down, because Thai Spicy is the max...as far as I know ;)

I really appreciated the staff's polite attitude and their smiling faces. The drinks and food were all good, and the portions were very generous. They didn’t hold back on using fresh, high-quality ingredients in the food.

Google
My son and I order take out from here frequently. The food is well portioned for the price and consistently delicious. Last night we had the pleasure of dinning in with family visiting the area. My mom has never had Thai food. She loved the Sawaddee Ka noodles. The staff was attentive and to our surprise and delight humourous. Hours after dinner everyone could not help but to reflect on how amazing the entire dinner was. The experience is one that will stay with us all forever. Thank you to our waitress and the entire staff. If I could give 10 stars I would.

Google
This place makes my soul happy!! 😊 The food, ambiance and service here can't be beat! We had Fried dumplings like I've never had before, Thai iced tea, hot tea, and sweet tea. All were excellent.👏 For the main course we had a huge bowl of Pho with steak and Pad sew ew. Just wow!! 😋 Elle is the sweetest waitress ever. Our daughters birthday is a week away and when she heard that she surprised us all by bringing out a vanilla sundae 🍨 complete with whipped cream and a candle. Overall I'd say this place is my favorite Thai restaurant in Georgia!!

Google
First of all this food is so delicious. When I walked into the establishment , it was PACKED but also extremely quiet! No one could speak because EVERYONE was stuffing their faces. I ordered to-go and my food was still off the stove hot by the time I got home!!!! I ordered the yellow curry and the pad la na !!!! Y’all please go eat this food!!! The 25 minute wait was worth every bite!!! I’m currently eating as I leave this review, go eat here! Authentic Comfort food made diligently with expertise. You will not be disappointed !!! My total was $30 and I have A LOT of food!!!! Amen y’all, amen.

Google
Based on reviews we decided to order take out from sawaddee, I wouldn’t say it was great and it wasn’t bad either , it was just ok . To me it tasted very under seasoned . We ordered veg spring rolls, those were good, the fried rice was decent and papaya salad could have been better . Quantity is good.

Google
My wife and I have been here a few times. Each time we go, we try something new. During our most recent visit, I tried Shredded Chicken Pho and my wife had Red Curry. I will be honest, I don't recall having Pho at the many Thai restaurants we have ate at. It was good but I am not sure how much flavor this dish normally has. The Red Curry was excellent according to my wife. It is a smaller location so seats fill up fast at peak times. I see a lot of people do pick up. Attentive service. Recommend giving it a try.

Yelp
I love this restaurant. The Thai cuisine here is so delicious. The veggies are always fresh and so green. The spices they use to season the food are so aromatic. Today I dined and enjoyed the chicken spring rolls, garlic beef, chicken and broccoli, and fried rice. I forgot to take pictures when the food arrived, we prayed and dug in. Lol! Service is always great and the food is delivered to your table nice and hot, straight from the pan. The ambiance here is comfortable, nice atmosphere, beautiful music, great place to dine, close your eyes and imagine you're in Thailand. Enjoy!

Yelp
This Pho was absolutely amazing, it was so flavorful and the spice level was phenomenal! Perfect meal for this type of weather. The staff was really polite and they do a great job of going over the menu to answer any questions you may have. I really enjoyed the environment, it was so welcoming. I can't wait to head back.

Yelp
Amazing. Very authentic. Delicious. Can't beat it anywhere Service was perfect as well

Yelp
Didn't realize that Savannah had such a wide variety of cuisines, but not surprised considering all the international business Enterprises around the area and also the military bases. Anyway, long story short, this place probably had the best Nam Sod that I have had to date. I would say the spice level is medium which is like a thai hot 3 on the scale and for my entree I had the pad prig khring which I got at a level 5. Lots of beef and mixed veggies in this one and crispy green beans which was what I was looking for. The serving comes with a small portion of rice but that's just the filler. This place gets really busy around noon. We sat outside for about 5 Katie hoo minutes but service was great checking on us and had us in by the AC in no time flat.

Yelp
I love this Thai place. Best option in the whole Pooler Savannah area. Portioms are huge, prices are great, anf food is always good. We order in or delivery from here all the time and it's consistently good. Inside the have many tables but will be busy for lunch on the weekend. Parking is a small lot just outside. The menu has a lot of typical dishes you'd find on a Thai menu in the US like pad Thai, and a rainbow of different curries. The green curry is my favorite for the high spice level. The curries in house or to go are easily enough for 2 meals, maybe more depending on how much you indulge The pad Thai here is the best flavor. It has a nice amount of sauce without being just plain noodles like other places. My favorite stir fried dish is Pad Kee Mao. I love the flavor. I always get chicken no onions. It's consistently flavorful, and again, enough for a second dish. I also really like their Tom Kha Gai soup. The serving is big even for the small size. It heats you right up on a rainy day. They don't skimp on the add-ins for it!

Yelp
Tasty, fast, friendly, large portions. We liked the pad Thai and the chicken satay but thought the pad ke mao (drunken noodles) tasted 100% different than what we know as drunken noodles. Would go back again and try other dishes. The lunch menu is terrrific.

Yelp
It's a small space with amazing cooking. I judge all new Thai restaurants by Tom Yum Goong. This is the best I can remember. The broth is stunning. I also had Panang chicken curry. It was very good and a huge portion I couldn't stop eating. A companion offered me some of her crispy duck. I was wary when she ordered it. I was so wrong. It was amazing. The service was efficient and on point. A great little spot.

Yelp
Downtown Savannah is likely a better food destination, but I stumbled in due to the monsoon that greeted me upon leaving the nearby movie theater making this place's proximity extra salient. Despite the weather, it was crowded, with customers (several of them Thai) filling the small space and several waiting for takeout; service was slow but I don't blame them terribly for it. They promise to make any entree vegetarian, so I went for a prik king, normally a powerful ginger chili dish. Theirs was tasty, but a great dish (notably compared to the searing rendition I had at another Thai restaurant a little down I-95 in Brunswick). I was also a tad peeved at the broccoli not noted on the menu that I didn't want. Some of the tofu was overly seared and the dish was a bit sloppy as if the cooks were rushing (which again, I suspect they were). Ordering veggie spring rolls got me a whole bunch of little rolls. There were some noodles and shiitake mushrooms in there, but when the rolls are that small it's mostly wrapper. A quality bag of jasmine tea was a good way to wash things down. While it was short of greatness, I was happy to have found a good vegetarian dish when and where I found it.

Yelp
The most horrendous Thai restaurant I've ever ate at. We love Thai food, try every Thai place and was so so happy to see this restaurant and the ratings, but that was beyond weird, because the food had nothing Thai in it, but the look. I've never felt cheated, but this was so disgusting in so many ways, that it made me really disappointed, we thought reviews were trust worthy. Ugh.

Yelp
Even with a to go order, our food was hot, the order was correct and portions were large. We got the Massaman chicken curry and pad prig khring chicken. Wonderfully seasoned and delicious- the fried spring rolls were fought over. The good reviews are accurate!

Yelp
Great service. Great food. Perfectly seasoned. Reasonable prices. Definitely coming back.

Yelp
What a great dining experience. From the moment I stepped into Sawaddee Ka Thai Cuisine, I knew I was in for a treat. The menu is a delightful journey through Thai cuisine, offering a variety of dishes that cater to all palates. We started egg rolls that didn't last long and captured the last one on the plate! LOL These were warming us up for the main course. The Pad Thai, a classic favorite, was cooked to perfection, with the right balance of sweet and savory, rich and creamy yet not overpowering. What really stood out was the freshness of the ingredients. Each dish was a testament to the chef's commitment to quality and authenticity. The vegetables were crisp, and the meats were tender and flavorful. The service at Sawaddee Ka Thai Cuisine was impeccable. Our server was attentive, knowledgeable, and made excellent recommendations. The staff's hospitality added to the overall exceptional dining experience. In summary, Sawaddee Ka Thai Cuisine is more than just a restaurant; it's a culinary journey that I highly recommend to anyone seeking authentic Thai flavors. Whether you're a Thai cuisine aficionado or trying it for the first time, this restaurant is a must-visit. I will definitely be returning!

Yelp
I am so happy that I found this amazing place for some good food! I decided to get spring rolls and seafood pho takeout from here and I absolutely loved how everything was packaged! My pho broth was hot and in a soup container! Everything that goes into the broth was packaged together and there was so much of everything! When I got home and put my pho together it tasted delicious! The spring rolls were so good as well! When I walked inside to get my food, the place is small but they have tables to sit down. I was helped right away and my food was ready! I definitely want to come back and eat inside!

Yelp
I'm going to say I'm a foodie and when I tell you these people can cook they know how to cook good food . The pho is phenomenal. The Crispy and sizzling duck the best I've ever had in my life . The Best Thai restaurant I've ever been to and I've been all over Florida . I will always tell the truth and all I can say is Wow !

Yelp
Craving for thai flavor noodles! I stopped by this little shop and it was a delight. Service was friendly and quick. I got a tom yum noodle soup with shrimp. The veggies were so good, I love mushrooms and tomatoes. The shrimp was cooked perfectly, not overly done which was a nice surprise. Noodles and soup had satisfied my craving! I highly recommend to support this little business! It's really good!
google avatar

Amanda L.

Yelp
I have McRae in my work territory so I try to eat there at least once while I'm in town. I love the Cashew Chicken and the staff is always so sweet!

Jo B.

Yelp
All enjoyed their meals here. Takeout was quick and efficient. Massaman Curry was delicious as were the Sea scallops and Pad Prig Khing. Only the summer rolls were lacking in herbs (a little basil? mint?) and the peanut sauce was too watery.
google avatar

Tonya S.

Yelp
This is our favorite Thai restaurant in the Pooler area. The food is delicious and the staff are always nice and welcoming. It's a great environment for a one on one or even family meal. My toddler even loves it here. Must try!
google avatar

Omaira L.

Yelp
This was my 3rd or 4th time dining at Sawaddee. I always go during the dinner hours. The atmosphere is always friendly and quiet. The dining area is clean and comfy. I typically order the sliced steak or shredded chicken pho. I tried the beef meatball pho this time. I disliked the texture and overall taste of the meatballs but the soup itself was delicious as usual and piping hot. I also tried the founder filet and spicy lemongrass steak. I'm definitely ordering the flounder next time. Both dishes come with a side of steamed rice. We also had the chicken satay for appetizer and other than the peanut sauce, it was a plain grilled chicken on a stick but fairly good. We appreciated that the food was fresh and everything came nice and hot! The prices are very reasonable. Our server, though serving the entire dining room and pick up orders, was extremely friendly and attentive. She was excellent! The restaurant was completely full but she didn't miss a beat!

Yelp
Best food and service ever!! Nicest people and high quality food. Good portion size too. It's my comfort place. Con: the ambiance could use some updating and it's a little too quiet. I feel like I am on top of other customers sometimes.
google avatar

Philip G.

Yelp
Very solid Thai place. Definitely on the more expensive side. The flavor is pretty good though. 5/10 on their spice chart is really spicy honestly. I've gotten drunken noodles and curry a few times. The portion size for the curry was a little on the small side, but the drunken noodles were spot on. Just expensive. The portion size for the rice was good though! I liked the atmosphere, and it's been relatively quiet both times we've sat down instead of taking carryout.
google avatar

Jessica S.

Yelp
If you have ever had real Thai food, just don't. Go somewhere else! I wish I hadn't listened to the reviews, the food is awful. The summer rolls could have been fine but the even the peanut sauce was bland. The Tom Kha Gai was loaded with pea pods (which don't belong), and that's pretty much all you can taste in the broth besides coconut. I asked for it to be Extra Thai hot, same for my pad Thai, and neither contained any spice at all. The Pad Thai was also bland, besides it not being spicy, it had no flavor, not even lime juice could help it. I regularly cook all of the above for myself and just do not understand how it could all be so wrong. It's all going straight in the trash can, save your money.

Debbi L.

Yelp
I stopped in here a few months back after getting my haircut. I wanted Pho, but was told their Pho had msg. (Huge downer). I ate there anyway and had a stir fry with ginger and chicken, which was made sans msg. It was delicious. I'm back today having a different stir fry (the number 5). Another delicious dish. Full of chicken and other fresh veggies. It was a lunch special and they come with two Thai spring rolls (also delicious. This is now my go to for Thai food when I'm not cooking it myself. The restaurant itself is tiny with about 10-13 tables and the service is prompt and friendly. I couldn't give it five stars as their Pho is from a mix or something that has msg. Otherwise the food is delicious.

Yelp
Best Thai food this side of Georgia. Reasonably priced with generous portions, and everything always tastes amazing. Highly recommend

Rolf P.

Yelp
Excellent green papaya salad, and we were surprised to find pho on their menu which was surprisingly good.
google avatar

Brent B.

Yelp
First time in, but definitely will return again and again. Fine menu assortment from which to choose, and lunches (Pad Thai please...outstanding) come with a crispy spring roll. The best we've had in this part of the country, served by professional and proficient servers. Only complaint is that I prefer cold sake and they only offer hot (but it's really good) and I really craved a Mai Tai, but legally they can't. Well worth the visit!
google avatar

Jennifer L.

Yelp
The Pad Thai was amazing so we went back and for some more the following day but it tasted different on the second day. Perhaps a different chef? The spring rolls they have are not the fresh ones but fried. The waitress didn't seem to know so I just went ahead and ordered to find out they were fried.

Kevin G.

Yelp
Very nice staff, quick service, good pricing. Relaxed ambiance. Food was fine, not particularly outstanding

Yelp
So good!! Reminds me of home cooked food gma would make.Thai tea was awesome and shrimp mango salad.

Yelp
Very good food and good sized portions. Staff was nice and overall happy with the food. Had the soft shelled crab with curry sauce and hubs had the scallops. Yummy. Will certainly return.
google avatar

Mri S.

Yelp
Price is ok. Food not good. It taste like fake thai food. Not authentic at all. We didn't enjoy our food.
google avatar

Christy C.

Yelp
We ordered the Hot Drunken Noodle with beef, special combination pho, beef steak pho and the chicken pho. The food portion was good as these four orders fed our family with five (two adult and 3 kids, age 12, 7 and 4). The hot drunken noodle was very tasty and it was not too hot. I would not recommend the chicken pho as the chicken was chicken breast with some bones. The special combination pho and the beef steak pho were fine. The pho soup base was yummy and not too salty. There was only one waitress and there wasn't much services. She was very nice and she tried to take good care of everything, but one person could do only this much. We had to wait to be seated, once we sat down, we had to wait to get the menu, then waited for a bit to get three glasses of ice water (she brought us two extra almost toward the end of our meal). The other tables were piled up with used dishes / plates and the waitress did not have a chance to clean up. The interior decoration looks nice and culture. The location is very convenient, close to shopping mall and major highway.

Elly H.

Yelp
Great food and service. Sushi was fresh. The seafood stuffed squid was delicious. They also made a really nice Thai ice tee.

Kelly G.

Yelp
The first Thai restaurant we've ever visited while on vacation that came close to our favorite restaurant back home. And honestly, we aren't sure which one is better, Sawaddee Ka is that good!! Everything was fresh and delicious. The service was friendly, fast, and kind. The ambiance was nice and clean. This will be a stop on future trips to the area. We highly recommend!!

Annayi B.

Yelp
The food was amazing and the customer service was even better. We were unaware of the kitchen closing time and the staff was really nice getting us served without rushing us back out the door.
google avatar

Rain D.

Yelp
Came in here for lunch for the first time and loved it . The food was absolutely delicious. The portions were huge and had to take most of it home. The chicken Pad Thai was amazing and went great with the Tom Yum Goong. The service was excellent. 10/10 I highly recommend coming here if you are in the Pooler area.
google avatar

John H.

Yelp
I think I have given up hope of finding a good Thai restaurant in the area. I was hoping for more with the lunch crowd filling up. I ordered the Pad see ew that wasn't. I knew it from the description but ordered it anyway. It was a red curry mixed into rice noodles. It would not be a big deal but authenticity matters. Also, the noodles was slightly over-cooked giving it a mushy mouth feel. It was on the edge of being too spicy. For lunch, it comes with spring rolls that was probably bought frozen with primarily cabbage filing. The waitress was chipper with what seemed like a regular crowd. I think it took like ten minutes for her to bring me water, and I grabbed my own menu after waiting for a while. Once I asked for the check, she never stopped by to collect. I paid cash and left a tip based in what change I had available, just so I could get out the door.

Micaela G.

Yelp
Ordered via uber eats.. the Hot drunken noodle, however, it was not hot.. it tasted cheesy and not even a hint of spice. I'm so disappointed, considering I was craving this all week.
google avatar

Satriee S.

Yelp
Wow. So I stumbled upon this quaint place wanting pho & boy they didn't disappoint ! The broth is flavored and filling. You wouldn't think it'd fill you but it's perfect Their curries are also pretty tasty Full of flavors and spice so I'll definitely come back . Thai tea was really yummy and came in a lovely tall glass, really enjoyable

Marva J.

Yelp
Fantastic! Classic Thai food prepared with authentic flavors. If there was one wish they could fulfill, it would be to prepare the Thai basil with chicken with ground chicken and a fried egg on top. I had the laab salad and Thai basil with shrimp Thai hot. This meal did not disappoint!
google avatar

Ferihan D.

Yelp
This is my second time here and both times the Pho is good. Nothing to write home about the papaya salad and the fresh spring rolls. Why some Asian business owners do such disrespect to American patronage is beyond me. Why is it ok for them to serve us with so much less ingredients then Asians. We pay same and we are very familiar with the food by now too. So why do you think your smarter and assume we will not point out your actions? Since when is in papaya salad only tomato and red pepper and fish sauce only? Where are the other more expensive ingredients that makes this dish so special and worth paying $8.50? Where is the dried shrimp, Thai basil, cilantro, Thai chili and the green beans? And that's just to mention few of the ingredients you conveniently left out but still charged me the full price. Can someone please explain why you do that here in Savannah? I spend $6.50 on two spring roles that had iceberg lettuce with one shrimp cut in half and few strings of rice vermicelli rolled in a rice paper. Again; where was the cilantro, the beef or pork, the basil, the bean sprouts and the fresh mint? Again paid full price (way more than in Atlanta) and there you get everything in abundance. You get what you pay for and food is amazing. I am only being this upset about is mainly because, as I ordered my food I let her know that I was very familiar with the food and what all should be in it and the server promised to let the kitchen know. So I trusted her and didn't check my food till I got home. Reason I said the Pho was good is because I ate it there. Do they not want people for repeat business? I don't understand the business motto behind this weird behaviors. So I give them 2 stars for the soups sake.
google avatar

Tiffany L.

Yelp
The first place I dined when I moved to savannah. Don't think any restaurant I have come across topped this place. Good food, quality service, and best pricing. The best Pho I have ever had. The broth was divine. You can taste all of the richness of the fresh ingredients. I just couldn't stop eating it. I literally ate every bite took every sip. You must try it! I would not steer you wrong.
google avatar

Haley Z.

Yelp
Best Thai food in pooler. We have gone here many times over the years and that quality and consistency of the food and service are never a miss! Some of my favorites are the Pho, lemongrass steak, and green curry! Yum
google avatar

Jaymee M.

Yelp
Best pad se ew I've ever had. The service was friendly and efficient. The restaurant interior was a bit dated, but it does not take away from the delicious food. Unfortunately the noodles left a weird after taste.
google avatar

Eric R.

Yelp
We went here tonight for my daughter in law's birthday. We got there when they 1st opened for dinner service. The owner greeted us at the door and welcomed us. The waitress we had wasn't so friendly. She acted like she was there against her will. Then I noticed she was the only waitress working the dining room. The menu has several selections on it. Unfortunately there is no children's menu. We had a 2.5 year old with us so we got him an appetizer and his mom shared some of her entree with him. The Thai community patronizes this restaurant greatly. Which was the case tonight. The food was delicious. Everyone at our table enjoyed their food.
google avatar

Eleni J.

Yelp
Update: I've been here multiple times. What I like most about it is its consistency in food flavor, quality and service! Probably the best pho place in this area. You know it's good when you see Vietnamese families eat their pho too. It's a very small restaurant, but the inside is kept clean. Friendly service too!
google avatar

Liz M.

Yelp
A very pleasant environment. Good food. Something new and interesting not your regular burger chain! I would highly recommend because it is good and a small business that we are proud to have in our area. God Bless you!

Yelp
Went here with my wife. Beyond delightful service and awesome food. Those sawaddee ka noodles are awesome!!!
