The Best Pizza Farms in Southern Minnesota and Wisconsin | Eater Twin Cities

"Lazy summer Sundays are better spent on this farm that grows produce and brews beer. Enjoy a little music, beer, and creative pizzas like the “Spicy Jameese,” made with strawberry jam, sriracha, and cheddar and pepper cheeses. The farm is open Sundays, noon to 7 p.m. Bring cash; no pets or outside alcohol." - Eater Staff

I love this place!!! The setting is so wonderful, especially on the perfect Fall day. The new owners have kept the place the same. The beer brewed on site is delicious. The IPAs are my favorite, but the other beers are just as good. Choices for everyone! The pizza, well that is also delicious! When you read the descriptions, they may seem a bit odd but surprisingly they are so so good. The pizza was enough for 2 adults-we ate the whole thing! Service was excellent, very friendly and helpful staff! Lots of places to sit and eat, or just hang out and play some bags. The other barn is BEAUTIFUL for a wedding or event. Definitely one of my favorite places to spend a Sunday afternoon, and the live music we had was a lovely touch to a perfect day! The best part-Classic Cars get front row parking getting the love they deserve!

Under new ownership, they have maintained the standard of the previous owners. Great location, pizzas are unique and they have a great selection of beer. There was also live music on tap. Open on Sundays only, give them a try, you won’t be disappointed.

A shockingly quaint place located in rural Wisconsin! I was totally surprised to drive up and see all this property had to offer. It was busy, but there was enough seating to go around. They over delivered on the beer as well. I wouldn’t have expected this small brewery to pump out all the awesome kinds they had. The pizza was good, but due to the large size of the pies, they seemed a little undercooked. Also, for whatever reason, the flavors seemed a little underwhelming. With such cool flavor combinations, I expected to be able to taste more of the ingredients. The band played lots of variety, but was a bit loud to carry on a conversation over. Overall, this place is truly an awesome experience. Go here if you’re looking for something to wash away your Sunday Scaries!

Was recently at this brewery for a wedding. Just a beautiful area! The staff are super friendly. The beer is also definitely worth the trip. Don't forget to ring the triangle (you'll see if you go). Hope to come back soon!

I wanted to stop time and keep my afternoon stop-in on perpetual pause. Come as you are, charming, well thought out, cute place. Chewy, fired/chared crust, minimalist pizza, but packed with flavor. Beer was good, something for everyone: light lager, porter, west coast, hazy, nut brown, wit and a sour. Highly recommend planning your Sunday around a stop here.

Other reviewers call this a jewel and hidden gem etc. I agree it’s all of that and more. After going several times spanning both owners I can tell you this, passion for the business and their customers is obvious. They care a lot about the product and the commitment to the people who buy it. Bravo.

Fun venue, family-friendly. Expect a 35-40 minute wait for your pizza, though. As others have commented, the selection is solid but unfortunately each of the last two visits (this weekend and the previous weekend) we can agree — the dough doesn't get crispy enough in the middle. The cheese is too thick and the crust is doughy and not cooked all the way through. Overall the atmosphere is nice, but for $27/pizza, I'd absolutely expect a better bake overall. Either too much sauce and too much cheese resulting in too much moisture, or not enough heat in the oven on the stone. Beer selection includes 8 brewed onsite, with two stouts, two shandy-style beers, two IPAs, a cream ale, a nut brown. They've got macro lagers, White Claw, Simply hard lemonade, and some wines. I'd come back but I don't know how to get the pizza not soggy in the middle. It's a big bummer since it's the centerpiece of the venue we drove an hour, one-way, to visit.

Very happy with our lunch at Sawmill! Very good food and beer. Friendlyness and hospitality was above what I expected! We will be returning! Thank you for a great experience our kids loved it too.

Yelp
5 stars - definitely worth the stop if you're in the area! I really enjoyed my first visit to Sawmill Pizza & Brew Shed. It's out in a rural area, quite a trek west of downtown Clear Lake. But they have plenty of signs directing the way. And "yes", back in the day, it used to be a real working sawmill. I was skeptical when my 2 Wisconsin friends invited me to hang out at Sawmill on a Sunday. Only open 1 day a week on Sundays? Only open from 2:30 to 7:00? Only 4 kinds of pizza? Yes, it's true! But it's great! The property is huge, many acres with tons of parking. They have multiple buildings, outdoor activities, a lake across the street, live music, pizza, beer, and soda. The whole atmosphere is like a super chill county fair - awesome! The custom pizzas are great too. They're all the same size - large. The pizza is neopolitan style & cooked in a brick fired oven. The flavor options are great. They're all, basically, giant gourmet Italian style pies. They can definitely compete with any fancy-dancy pizza joint in the Twin Cities (minus the snobbery). The beer options are excellent. They have a bunch of interesting craft beers on tap in addition to standard options in cans & bottles. Finally, this place is run like a clock. They're extremely well organized. Everyone is super friendly too. That goes for the staff as well as the guests. (No pets or outside alcohol allowed.) For those of you that may be interested, Sawmill does special events too. LOW CARB: It was a little tricky eating low carb, carnivore style at Sawmill. Basically, I picked the pizza with the most meat & the thickest toppings and I scraped all the toppings off the doughy crust. It worked fine. I ate all the toppings and none of the high carb dough. And I saved the crust for the family of noisy crows that visits me every morning. So everyone was happy...me, my buddies, and my feathered friends. A big thumbs up! -Maxx

Yelp
It's a bit pricey, but it's still some of the best pizza I've had. I was skeptical when my friends said we should get the spicy jameese, but I can see why it's a mainstay on their menu!

Yelp
Family had a great time during our visit. The pizza toppings seem exotic, but they were all really delicious. Staff was friendly and helpful. A fantastic place to spend a summer afternoon!

Yelp
Sawmill Pizza and Brew Shed is always fun. Great for big groups and very family-friendly. They have many seating areas with tables and chairs, or you can bring your picnic blankets and chairs and set them up on the large mowed grass lawn. There is a bar where you can order their beer brewed on-site. When you order pizza, you can subtract any ingredients but can't add any. You get a ticket with a number showing where you are in line. Any time a pizza is ready, they ring a cowbell, and you can go to the kitchen to see what order number they are on. The cooked pizzas come cut and placed in a cardboard pizza box. You can take the pizza back to your table and eat it or take it home. Don't forget to bring plates and napkins. They are not provided. The pizza is thin crust and delicious! Sawmill is a summer must-do!

Yelp
To say I was skeptical of a pizza with peanut butter, pineapples, and pickles on it is an understatement. To say it blew my mind and that I devoured a good half of the pizza is completely accurate. I would have eaten the whole thing if I hadn't filled up on Spicy Jamees first. The beer also kicks ass.
