Sawtooth Brewery Public House - Review - Ketchum - Sun Valley - The Infatuation

"The Public House is Sawtooth Brewery’s Ketchum location, which has a lunch and dinner menu that could please even your pickiest friends. Go for bison sliders, Korean street tacos, and a customizable Idaho baked potato, but always add a house salad with their housemade herbed lager vinaigrette. Choose from 20 locally made beers, and buy one for your buddy using their chalkboard system of paying it forward to friends. After you tire your kids out with their first ski lesson, bring them to Sawtooth for mac and cheese, hot dogs, and root beer floats." - Hayden Seder

Google
Great spot to grab a bite in town after skiing at Sun Valley. Staff was very friendly and food was great. I had the elk burger with "frots" (half fries/half tots) and their house made root beer and it was great. Portions are large! Atmosphere was also nice. Not to loud and a good amount of seating. The pretzel was also very soft and tasty. Their house made stone ground mustard it is served with is amazing!

Google
Super friendly staff! I had the gyro with some of their slaw and both were really good! Fun music too :) They have a front/east facing patio and a back/south facing patio.

Google
This place has really grown over time. They serve some of the best gourmet food, and you can tell the ingredients are always fresh. I had the mushroom soup, and it was delicious—clearly made from scratch, unlike some places that just use canned soup! The beer selection is fantastic, offering a great variety. The atmosphere is relaxed and casual, perfect for enjoying a good meal. It's hands down the best spot to watch football and enjoy great food at the same time!

Google
We were happy to try this place because of their menu that had good options for a larger group. We were happy we could eat outside. We tried the fish and chips, the gyro, the Cobb salad, the brisket sliders and the ginger chicken sliders. The frots (fries and tater tots) were very crispy and delicious with the fry sauce. My husband loved the fish and chips (one of his favorite choices and orders often). The Cobb salad was enormous and the ranch dressing tasted homemade. The service was excellent! Also I forgot to mention this is a brewery with lots of tasty beers on tap!

Google
What a spectacular brewery, the beer is incredible. Would recommend the big woody light lager. Also, would recommend the elf Burger, one of the better burgers I’ve had.

Google
Couldn't believe we spend $50 on a dried out, overcooked burger and luke warm fish tacos that tasted like It could have come out of a frozen box. No one bothered to come by to check in on us and it wasn't even busy. We've eaten there before and I was actually pretty decent, but we'll pass the next time we're in town.

Google
Fun, casual Sun Valley atmosphere. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly. Great menu that accommodates kids and dietary issues. Great nachos with home made salsa, yummy salads, hearty burgers.

Blake McKinley

Google
Delicious and laid back. Beer is OK, but they do have some special aged options. The elk burger was amazing. Taco salad was good too. A few of their beers are on nitro, Delicious creamy goodness. Try the happy hour. Outside seating is available and the views are very nice. Can't wait to come back.

Yelp
13th anniversary of this establishment in our town. A favorite of mine for their wonderful service, great food and their own brewery. Indoor and outdoor seating along with delicious food. Go an enjoy.

Yelp
Fries were a bit over salted. Fish and Brat were great. Cole slaw was really good but does contain broccoli. Peanut Butter Stout was so good I'm taking home a 6pack.

Yelp
We went for lunch!!! Delicious, kids friendly! We had fish and chips, bbq burger and elk burger!

Yelp
Came for dinner for our last night in Ketchum. We ordered a couple beers and started with wings. Wings were GOOD!! My husband ordered the Idaho elk burger and I had the bbq burger. My husband loved his burger, but for me, the hand cut fries and wings were the stars of the show. This is a really laid back, family friendly environment and the staff was really friendly and great as well! Great choice in Ketchum!

Yelp
I'm visiting from Georgia and loved the whole experience! Elk is a delicious alternative to beef for a burger. When in Rome and all that so I got the fry sauce with my fries. Everything was so tasty. Service was fantastic. Woman at the bar was hilarious and a delight. Definitely recommend!

Yelp
Let's just say this place had the most delicious spicy chicken sandwich I've tried in the area. It was so fresh, and spicy lol something about the cheese made the sandwich just unique. Lol the atmosphere was great! Definitely not a date night type of thing. But more of a let's go hang out and catch a bite and have a very drinks vibe. But had a Great view of the mountains if you sit outside. The staff was welcoming and sweet and knew their menu. The only reason I am giving this place a 4 star and not a 5 is because I didn't like how we had to wait in line to place our order before sitting down. As people were leaving I felt like I was in the way which of course i was because I was in a line in front of the exit and entrance door. Other then that this place is a great place to stop by at.

Yelp
Nice place to grab a beer and dinner. The weather was nice enough to enjoy the patio, which is kind of hidden and wasn't crowded on the evening we went. Good selection of beers and a good selection of pub food. I got the fish and chips. I substituted tots. Both those and the beer battered fish were nice and crispy. Really delicious! The tarter sauce was really good too. The broccoli slaw that came on the plate didn't have much flavor at all. The staff talked my husband into the elk burger. Huge hit! He loved it and everything that was piled on to it. I'm not a big elk fan, but the bite I had was amazing. The fried were really good too. A lot of food, good beer, all for a great price.

Yelp
Great service. Good beer. Good food. Laid back atmosphere. Would definitely go back. We were in for out of town and they put the Bengals football game on and turned the volume up. Thumbs up. Two people behind the bar. A mother son duo. Both were super nice and full of fun information. Oh. And Hot mom!!!!! ;)

Traci A.

Yelp
Everything was excellent - from the amazing, friendly and helpful staff to the great beer and delicious food. We sat on the patio and had a wonderful lunch. We can't wait to visit again!

Yelp
Food here is great! My table split a few things which was really great! We ordered jalapeño poppers, fried chicken sliders, and I got the chili as well. It's casual, and fun! A great place to bring family and friends.

Yelp
The best french fries I've ever had. Hands-down. I also love the roast beef as well as the Giro's. Oh yeah, the beer is really good too. I highly recommend.

Yelp
We were here today for a post wedding celebration. We had 30 people and had the outside deck to ourselves. The lady with the blonde hair, about 50 years old, was rude from the start. It was clear she didn't like the extra work that was required to serve us. We had a reservation until 4pm. Our $1,000 bar tab was split two ways. The first $500 was tipped at 6%, the next $500 was tipped at 18%. Average of 12% tip (generous for the level of respect that we had received during our two hours there). The blonde hair lady came up to us at 4pm, and I quote: "You guys had this reserved until 4, and since the gratuity was horrible, the party is over and you need to leave". This waitress kicked out 30 customers who were likely to spend well over $500 additional dollars over a 12% tip. Absolutely appalling service. I'd give this establishment 0 stars if I could.

Yelp
We visited Sawtooth twice after hiking for much needed beers. Loved what we had. We split an eight glass flight-highlights juicy ipa, saison and peanut butter stout. We enjoyed sitting on the shaded back patio sipping on our beers, splitting a tasty pretzel.

David L.

Yelp
Great service and excellent nachos. Beers were wonderful. Brian is a great bartender

Jan W.

Yelp
Don't pass this one up for a solid lunch! We stopped in after a hot day of hiking. Atmosphere is relaxed, casual, but updated. We sat outside (limited seating). Had the BEST Cobb salad with an amazing in-house vinaigrette. We also had the German brat and Turkey and bacon on ciabatta - both solid. I'm not a tator tot fan but they were really yummy and crispy. The lager was awesome and so was the hard cider. Service was friendly.

Yelp
Great spot for lunch/dinner/just drinks to hangout. You really can't go wrong with any of their beers, Idahome is a favorite for us. Their food was great as well. Quick tip, order your apps and then your mains because the food comes out quick/when ready. Definitely a good stack of nachos - well layered and evenly distributed goods throughout, decent chips and perfect amount of everything. Ghost burger was good but I wish we tried something different. Spinach goat cheese salad with raspberry balsamic was great. We didn't love the jalapeño poppers, they were a bit too greasy but hey, that's on us. Jalapeño poppers are meant to be deep fried and that's what we got. All in all, recommend!

Yelp
One of my favorite brewery stops during our time in Idaho! They seem to be taking COVID precautions pretty seriously with "Masks Required" being written right on their front door. Though I do wish there was a bit more social distance enforcing given that the front counter service ordering area started to feel a bit crowded when we were placing our orders. They have a small outdoor patio in the front, but then tons more outdoor seating out back (which we happily took all to ourselves). We got a flight of beer and enjoyed all of them. Food was pretty good too! I especially enjoyed their Korean Street Taco and my husband enjoyed his gyro. I got a fish taco, but I'd skip that one. Just didn't have a lot of flavor and was overpriced for what you got. Service was friendly and super efficient. I couldn't believe how quick the food and beer came out.

Yelp
Stopped in mid- afternoon on Tuesday. Two gals at the bar and 4 people in line before me filling a growler and getting a pint. After the four were gone I asked the guy which beers were theirs and which were from other breweries. He pointed at the list and said from here to there. Not very forthcoming. Maybe because I am a gal. Anyway I ordered the double IPA - Tandem - and sat with my husband, who doesn't drink beer. Honestly, the beer was meh and an hour later I feel zero buzz. Never asked if I wanted anything else. I'm from San Diego - first class breweries available to me. But I enjoy visiting and supporting breweries in other locales. This one appears to have a big local following. But I wouldn't waste my time. There are other breweries, distilleries to try.

Yelp
Great Beer! Awesome Food and the Pika Stout Float is delish! A great back patio, and awesome bartenders!

Yelp
Great little place in Sun Valley. They take orders at the counter and you grab a table. Lots of beers and even ciders on tap! Burgers were really good! Service was quick and very friendly- this will be one of our regular stops from her on out!

Laurie M.

Yelp
Best mountain patio view in all of Sun Valley! Nice shaded front patio that is dog friendly. I make a stop every time I visit which is 4-6 times/year. The same dish is consistently good and what you expect every time. Same goes for the beer. Best Cobb Salad ever!! The chicken was perfect, top notch bacon and cherry tomatoes and crisp green beans were fresh. I'm a picky beer drinker especially when it comes to IPAs and they have several finely crafted options. The whole line up is solid and one of my top 3 breweries in Idaho. They also brew Atmos, I tried the IPA & Peanut Butter Stout - couldn't believe they were Non-Alcoholic!
google avatar

Jennifer L.

Yelp
Really a cool place. The front gal was phenomenal. I called to see if they had a collegiate game available. They thought so, but, unfortunately, not. However, she was busting her ass to keep everyone happy and I can respect that. Solid place with great chili.

Yelp
Perfect spot for a quick bite and a beer. We stopped here for a beer. The staff was Friendly and they have a great beer and wine selection. They also have a good selection of food. The pub pretzel was a hit.

velma v.

Yelp
Great beer selection. I'm a fan of their IPA. Best tater tots anywhere. Burgers are great and the staff is super friendly. I love the deck when weather permits.
google avatar

Sophia W.

Yelp
Had a small Cesar and the Korean bbq taco, both were fine, super super over saturated with dressing and sauces which made it meh. Lots of beer choices and super friendly staff.

Luther J.

Yelp
We tried out the Sunday Brunch, at the 36th Street location, with 9 folks. We thought that the menu was complete enough for us to find exactly what we wanted, food tasted great, the service was superb, and it was a perfect way to spend a Sunday morning.
google avatar

Joanne S.

Yelp
Great food and great service. I had the chicken piccata. Came out hot , tasty and tender. Love having the option of broccoli instead of pasta (even though I do love it).

Dory C.

Yelp
Delicious food..burgers, fish taco, and french fries!!!!! Great beer and good service..did I mention the French fries?? Delicious!!

Yelp
Went here last night, after a beautiful drive down from Missoula, and it was the perfect spot to unwind. They have an extensive beer list, there's something for everyone. I loved the Sheepherder Saison aged in Pinot Noir barrels- FANTASTIC!! My husband preferred the Idahome IPA. We both really liked the peanut butter stout too! The food was great, as well. I had the fish and chips and my husband had elk sliders. Both were great tasting. Check it out!
google avatar

Cynthia W.

Yelp
Glad we stopped at this local brewery. The gyros were ample and fresh. The chicken sliders had juicy chicken with crispy battered exterior. My husband loved the lager and the stout. As hard as I've tried, I'm not a fan of beer, so I was happy to order a sparkling brut rose. Will definitely be back! Something for everyone!

Yelp
I stopped into Sawtooth after a hike this afternoon. I had a flight of beer. I can't lie, I don't love beer and I mostly wanted to try the Hazy for a friend to see if I wanted to take her back some. It all still tasted like beer. I did really enjoy the Shandy and the Petite Gose. The Gose was really lite which made it unique! I was a little hungry and order the tacos, two of them expecting them to be small. I was wrong; they were loaded and delicious. I could barely eat them. The bartender was also very friendly. I asked her to fill up a bag with ice so I could ice my foot and she happily obliged. The other folks there drinking were also friendly. You should check this place out if you're in town. Tacos were $4 Flight was $13 for 5 5oz pours

Yelp
Absolutely make time to stop here! I visited during lunch and was very pleased with my entire experience! When entering, you should know that you order your food and drinks at the counter before choosing a seat within the restaurant or on the patio. The employees at the counter were very helpful and patient while we took time to choose what to order. Per many previously written reviews and recommendations from the staff, we chose to order the fish and chips. It's really no joke; it is as good as they say it is!! Definitely recommend it, and that's saying a lot coming from a person who doesn't LOVE fish. The seating area is clean, comfortable, and spacious. Additionally, there is complementary water stationed throughout the inside dining area and on the outdoor patio seating area. If you're in the Ketchum area and are looking for a yummy place for a quick lunch, definitely keep Sawtooth Brewery in mind!

Yelp
I love beer and I love food and upon my trip here I was super excited to have both. The food was good but definitely not worth the money that they are charging. The beer was absolutely disappointing; overpriced and not much to boast about. I spent $60 for nothing, I feel like I was ripped off.
google avatar

Brandon N.

Yelp
I am a beer nerd and this place spoke to me. We got there as soon as they opened before we got back on the road. It is a fun little place and the bartender was really nice. We both got flights and enjoyed all 10 samples. Was surprised to see that not only was the beer great but the food actually was fantastic and seemed to be something you would get at a nice restaurant. Patio is lovely to sit on a nice Idaho morning in a mountain town.

Yelp
This place gets all the stars and kudos from me! I've been both in the winter and summertime and both were equally delicious with stellar service. I loved the chicken pot pie for a delicious, warm winter meal. And the turkey sandwich with tots was a home run after a long day hiking. I also had their strawberry and goat cheese salad which was out of this world delicious. The beer is tasty; I haven't tried one that I didn't like. The patio is beautiful and you can let your (well behaved) dog hang out with you. I'd come back again and again.

Jen F.

Yelp
This place was super busy for a Tuesday and was packed inside with people at all the tables though the outdoor patio had lots of open spaces. Lots of breweries are good family spots but this place was more refined and more for the drinking crowd.

N M.

Yelp
Great service, good beer, and great food. The burgers are phenomenal, but the service is outstanding. Warm and inviting the staff here make eye contact and genuine conversation and enjoy their job or at least they make you believe it.

Jenny S.

Yelp
First time here was awesome. Great beer and ciders, and the soft pretzel is to die for. Second time I was slightly disappointed - the menu online doesn't match their current menu. I also wish they allowed dogs on all patios and indoors like many breweries do!
google avatar

Mark L.

Yelp
Talk about a beefy burger. I got the classic burger. While it comes with a heavy portion of beef, the flavor doesn't really come with it. The fries however are outstanding. Great texture and flavor. My wife uncharacteristically ordered the fish and chips. She gave me a bite and boy was I jelly. Really crispy battering with flaky, succulent fish. Wish I had ordered that... The service came with sarcasm and wit that sometimes landed well, and other times seemed rude.

Deborah L.

Yelp
We were in town for our anniversary and happened into this great place. We had fish and chips and a burger, both were really good. As we were there on a Tuesday night, it was also Trivia night, so we joined in and had so much fun. The guy running the trivia game was awesome. What a fun way for us to celebrate! The staff was friendly and helpful. We will be back to Ketchum in the fall and we will certainly return to Sawtooth Brewery!!!
google avatar

Adrianna S.

Yelp
The wait was long but the food was worth it. My husband had the hot wings and I got the fried chicken sliders which were delicious. Also the pretzel and cheese sauce is an absolute musty
google avatar

Frederic R.

Yelp
I really like this brewery. I have been to both Hailey and Ketchum locations and like both. I believe they may have a little more options in Ketchum as far as food, but don't quote me on that. I love their Idahome beer.... Every time I am back in the Sun Valley area, I make sure to stop b y at one of their tasting room. Enjoy!

Hale H.

Yelp
Came here last night after arriving late in Ketchum. The sliders were fantastic. So was the root beer that I had. I sat and watched the Georgia game and had a wonderful evening. Highly recommend :)

Yelp
Fabulous customer service and fabulous food!! I called around 7:30 tonight (Sunday) and put in a relatively large order and it was ready to be picked up in about 15-20 minutes. I was blown away! Both people on the phone were incredibly helpful and the food was seriously good. We had the elk burger, the cobb salad with chicken, the fish tacos, some side salads, a kids burger, lots of tots and the chicken pot pie. Portions were plenty big and everything was hot and fresh and really, really delicious. We devoured it! My favorite part of this order, though, was that when I called, the person who answered the phone was clearly in the middle of helping another customer inside the restaurant. She asked another staff member to take my to-go order. I heard her ask so kindly and I heard the other staff respond so kindly -- I could tell it was a total team-focused atmosphere -- and both were super nice to me, too! I'm feeling really grateful for the excellent customer service, especially in these chaotic times. Thank you!!

Rick N.

Yelp
Food was average, beer was excellent, service was below average. They did offer me to tip 18% for ordering my food at the bar. Don't waste your time going here.
google avatar

John R.

Yelp
Solid spot, food is good with a deep menu. Inside and outside seating with nice beer selection. Good for kids, give it a shot. True story
google avatar

Brenna T.

Yelp
This is perhaps my favorite spot to go in Ketchum. They always have fun beers on draft and all the food is awesome. There are a lot of good burgers in town, but this one does not disappointed. The Gyro is also amazing. They do trivia on Tuesdays which is always fun and the back patio is an awesome vibe in the summer.
google avatar

Kelli H.

Yelp
We stopped in for my husband to try their beers. He enjoyed his Idahome beer and bought a six pack to go as well as their sour barrel aged beer. I ordered a dry hopped cider they had on tap and it was really good. Service was fast and friendly. We ordered their tater tots for our daughter to snack on and they were soooo good! Their menu is a little lacking as that was about the only thing that sounded good to us for a snack. We would come back.

Yelp
Joint has a great "local brewey" vibe. Not too big but comfortable to handle a big crowd. Great selection of beers available with a decent selection of ciders and a few guest beers. I ordered the cheese curds and pot pie along with a flight of 5 beers. The cheese curds were a bit too breaded for me. But not bad. The pot pie had fresh vegetables and chicken but lacked salt and spice. A bit flat. The lone puff pastry on top should have had more of a presence. Just not enough pastry in my opinion. The service was great at the ordering station but lacked engagement afterwards. The beers were all tasty with the pilsner gathering my favorite. I would highly recommend this spot for beer / brewey enthusiast. Just don't get your hopes too high on the food. Cheers Always!
