I’ve been coming here for over a year now. One of the best sandwiches in the City. They have the best deli meat and cheeses you can get. Cheese selection is crazy. If you want to make a charcuterie board . I don’t think you could find a better store. It’s an amazing spot I can’t say enough good things about it. Wine selection is vast as well. Go check it out for yourself!

Great selection of French cheeses and Spanish meats. I've heard the my have some of the best sandwiches in town. Might try some sometime. Excellent customer service.

Has really gone downhill lately here. Customer service is absolute garbage, you make sandwichs, yet you act snobby.... better cheese at wholefoods down the street, better sandwichs at bite me.... this place will be outta business soon.

An incredible gem in Cole Valley! Ordered (with 24 hour notice) a beautiful (+ perfectly delicious) French charcuterie board for a school moms night out and it was FANTASTIC! There are many boards to choose from (with 24 hours notice) - I can't wait for the next event to try them all. Thank YOU to the Say Cheese Team. (It was a busy night, now, I can't believe I didn't take a picture of it at the event)

Stopped by here while visiting the city. Amazing food, and adorable selection of goods inside. Was super tempted to buy almost everything in the store. I got their Italian combo and have to say it was amazing, the goat cheese sandwich my spouse got was amazing as well. Highly suggest.

Wide assortment of charcuterie items for a sumptuous "board.". Fun to browse, while waiting for sandwiches to get done. Caprese is my absolute favorite. Nice wine choices. Very helpful staff for suggestions. Saint Agur and Eposses readily available.

Great food, amazing service from knowledgable staff, elegant ordering from the owner for wines, and selections are thought off. The ambience- beautiful without feeling pretentious. Invest in this local gem in Cole Valley. We are all lucky to be a part of the experience.

In my continuation of the Summer stroll of Cole Valley it came to my attention that usually the opening night kickoff of the NFL season ritual is to get a pizza with cheese especially on National Cheese Pizza Day for Thursday Night Football. I decided to start a different ritual in 2024 but it didn't mean that I couldn't still Say Cheese at a boutique cheese place on Cole street called " Say Cheese". This place has some of the best fromage ( cheese ) foreign and domestic. First is the foreign cheese . Inside you will find a Fromagerie with a variety of cuts of cheese representing different countries. Then you have domestic Artisan cheese like the Detroit cheese brick , Wisconsin , and Vermont cheese. Then there is the deli which has a variety of sandwiches but I decided to get the Pate Campagne sandwich which came with Gruyère , Dijon, and Cornichon. The pate was smooth and tasty. I am particular about my pate and it was delicious and tender along with the cheese which made it a good overall favorable combination texture. One if not the best pate sandwiches in San Francisco.Then there is the wine. You can't say cheese without saying wine by design . The selection of wine at Say Cheese has some deep cuts mixed with some regional greats. I particularly liked their selection of Pinot Noir by the bottle ( pairs well with the pate). There are wines which will pair well with the cheese varieties .This is a good place to get wine and cheese to take home or go nearby to Golden Gate Park and savor the moments. Visualize and picture this like a camera and focus then say cheese with ease and build memories By pairing wine and fromage ( cheese) variety on Cole street from the USA and overseas

Love the staff here. I'm terrible at making decisions, and they always make the best ones for me. I've had three of their sandwiches (roast beef (amazing horse radish sauce) turkey, and jamon), amazing. I can't wait to try the vegetarian ones. Great selection. Cute neighborhood, the only obstacle was parking. Plan on waking a block or four for this treat

Say Cheese was a solid spot if you're looking for a deli Sandwich or some quality cheeses/Italian ingredients. The store had a classic deli vibe, with kind service they made you feel like you belonged in their shop and were making the right decision. The taste of the meats were very flavorful and their ingredients were all on par. The price was decent as well.

loveloveloveeee this place! Went on a Monday afternoon when there was no line. Ordered a custom made turkey make your own sandwich. It was DELICIOUS. Huge and perfect size. Highly recommend the sourdough roll as your bread. Super fast service--no waiting around for a sandwich (like only took five mins!) unlike Luke's on the next block. Very reasonable price too especially since they give you so much (mine was $13.50 as opposed to $17 or $18 which is what I typically pay at other shops)! Next time I'll have to try/buy some cheeses and prosciutto. This place has been around forever and now I understand why! My new go-to in Cole Valley. Keep in mind that they don't toast the bread, but it honestly doesn't need it. Can't wait to return!

When in doubt, it'll do great! Hard to believe within a 4 block radius you have 3 sandwich shops you really can't go wrong with, and Say Cheese is one of those! I want to try their specialty sandwiches (I think I saw an in-house roast turkey & beef?) when next in the 'hood and in need of something hearty, fresh, and satiating. I had the classic Italian on ciabatta and no complaints other than I wish I asked for extra peppercinis + added a pesto or mustard.

I'm updating my review to reflect the fact that their sandwiches are absolutely delicious, but so are the rest of their offerings. say Cheese has evolved from my sandwich lunch spot and into a full blown culinary toy store with awesome selection of cheeses, meats and wine. Definitely worth a visit!

I go there for the jamon iberico as there are very few places in the city that carry it. The last few times I've gotten the Spanish ham, staff used the same gloves to prep my meat, touching a bunch of things in between, including their phones and the cash register. Super unsanitary. The gloves are not to protect staff's hands - it's to minimize contamination of the food you are preparing for customers (i.e. sandwiches, sliced cured meats, etc.), so they should be changed frequently.

The best place in San Francisco to get a sandwich! Nicest bunch of people you'll ever encounter! Again, sandwiches are incredibly delicious! Service second to none!!!

Bad costumer service. I went in and said hi, the boy behind the counter didn't acknowledge I was there. Even the lady was not helpful or nice.

A non assuming store front which I've walked past many times till a friend suggested this place for their sandwiches. After walking in you see their large selection of wines, walk further back to the deli and you realize they have a great selection of olives, meats and to the right of the register a fabulous selection of cheeses. This place has everything you need for a perfect afternoon outing or offerings for a dinner party. It is walkable to GG park and off the N line to head to the beach. Decided on the prosciutto caprese sandwich that Moses, who was a great help, sliced fresh in front of us. The mozzarella tasted fresh and the bread was soft. You could easily share a sandwich but once you take a bite you may not want to share anymore. They seem to have a lot of local wholesome products which makes me want to support them even more. Grabbed some chips and limonata and it was a perfect lunch. Oh and those lemon cookies by the register worth every calorie!

Pleasantly surprised with my sandwich. I usually get the caprese but wanted something different. Highly recommend the jammon serrano. Service was prompt but also the staff seemed slightly annoyed I was placing an order. That was a little odd. Overall, I'd recommend heading out here before spending your day at the park!

Situation - Sandwich order, April 2020 Pros - The sandwich was very good - Easy ordering with a good variety of sandwich options - Great staff - There seems to be a great variety in cheeses, wines, etc - I was able to pay via Apple Pay Cons - A very minor inconvenience was that the contactless payment system doesn't have a tip option

Quality produce and ingredients at a reasonable price. The sandwiches are great, each one better than the next and the authenticity of the flavors and the use of the ingredients is unmatched. The staff is nice and helpful as well as friendly and the feel of the shop makes you feel welcomed(very homey) I truly recommend this place for anyone that is looking for a nice sandwich in the area.

My Sandwich was incredible! I had the Prosciutto Caprese. The Dutch crunch roll and everything on the sandwich was a perfect lunch!

Small and local sandwich place in Cole Valley! Love the service and products they sell (sandwiches included). I like personalizing my sandwich when I go there so I always opt for the build your own option. They do have great options on the menu as well if that's your preference!

I only found out about this place because I was at the muni stop and my train was delayed, so I decided to stop in. I have to say their cheese and salami is DELICIOUS. I'm also super super picky about my butter and decided to try one they had there. Definitely worth the trip (and the money). Next time I want to try one of their sandwiches. Will for sure be going back to try out more things!

Say Cheese is a boutique cheese shop. They have various cheese and wine. Lots of wine to sell in Cole Valley. There are two wine shops. These one has cheese and some snacks. They had gummy bears and dried apricots. I picked the small box of dried bananas and a salami slice...fresh. It was $2.90 for a snack. Cute shop in Cole Valley to browse near Haight.

The sandwiches here are really good. Maybe not quite as good as Cheese Plus on Polk, but they're in the same zone with this spot being a little more italian inspired. I've had a cajun turkey sando as well as a roast beef one, and both were great. They don't gussie the sandwiches up that much and are really relying on the quality of their ingredients. And that quality is very high so the whole thing works.

The sandwiches are good but not worth the rude service. The woman with short dyed hair is just straight up surly for no reason. It's 2022, have no room in my life for such negative energy.

Great local shop. I came in here for a sandwich and was quick and friendly. Many options and was fresh and delicious. The variety of wine, cheese, and charcuterie was great even tho I did not purchase these items. Nice option on the go for a sandwich. I got the Brie and fig jam sandwich and was tasty. Prices were very reasonable and would be happy to come back and try more items.

3 stars because they still have good products but minus 2 stars for the service. I have been coming to this shop for 20 years. Always loved it. Came back to buy cheese and sandwiches after many years. Bad experience! The guy making the sandwiches was rude and useless. Then, the lady who help with the cheese was rude as well ... and condescending. I also realized once home that she gave me the wrong cheese. It left a bitter taste in my mouth and I might stop going to Say Cheese. Very sad. If the ownership did not change, please change your staff so the experience is still nice like it used to be.

AMAZING sandwiches! So delicious, so fresh. One of the best sandwiches I've ever had. You should absolutely make time to grab one here! Will absolutely buy another one soon.

I stood at the counter waiting for someone to ring me up for a good 10 minutes yesterday. I was not ordering a sandwich or slicing, so apparently they have no process for ringing you up if you just buy something from the case. No one at the register, no numbers. They just ignore you while they argue with the customers ordering sandwiches. I've had bad customer service experiences here before (being told to wait to pay while the only guy there called in tomorrow's bread order, again after waiting a long time. Looking for burrata and being handed one that was expired with a shrug and an explanation that the dates don't really mean anything). It my fault for coming back. It is a cute shop and I want to love it but the guys who work there are obnoxious. Luckily Luke's down the street had the same burrata for $2 cheaper.

Very cool deli / cheese spot on Cole. I recently had a delicious goat cheese sandwich at another sandwich spot so when pressed to order something here I asked if they had anything with goat cheese . They indicated the "vegetarian " did ... so I went with that and added turkey and avocado on Dutch crunch . Super duper good and it came out to $12.50 which isn't cheap but hey it's SF... Friendly guys behind the counter as well .

Yes they sell amazing cheeses and their staff are great at helping find new cheeses BUT they also make outstanding sandwiches. Choose any and you'll be happy

I hope Roger reads this since I love his cheese shop but his employees today were the absolute worst! Rude, off putting and cynical. So absolutely rude. I called to get sandwiches made to pick up and they said they could not, they were busy. I showed up not 5 minutes later to a completely empty shop, the employees complaining about people in the city being rude, which was totally ironic, and doing nothing else. When I arrived I said sometimes people in service are also rude and they immediately said they refuse to serve me. No one in the store and sending customers away. The really terrible thing is that I use their catering for work and if I did not know Roger was such a great guy, this would have definitely been the end of them getting any business from me. Tall guy in ball cap, maybe Jerry, rudest person in retail I have encountered in a long while and it was just the holidays!!!! Did I mention he told me to go to Subway???? I will be writing a letter to Roger because this attitude in someone else's establishment is really disrespectful and harmful to the business by it was obvious this was just a job for this person and he did not care about the actual business. Did I also mention he was extremely rude in the phone when I called as well and went in just to find out who was being so rude so I could let Roger know. Otherwise I would just go to Haight Street Market, which is what I did today and may have to be what I do for all my catering here on out...again, really like Roger and would hate to punished us business because he hired such a rude employee.

The positives: Say Cheese has a great selection of cheese and accoutrements for your cheeseboard. The negatives: They do not have the proper equipment - or the proper training - to cut jamón serrano or proscuitto, which makes them a no for us.

Just skip this place. They were perfectly nice on the phone and took my order. When my husband went to pick it up they were super rude and gave him the wrong order, an order that had no name on it. I gave them a name on the phone. Wrong order, bad service, bad sandwich. Don't recommend.

Was looking for a sandwich I could take to golden gate park, was not disappointed by this place. Got a Cajun turkey sandwich which was bomb, and the variety of individually-packaged cheese/meats was cool too. Service was fast and friendly too

I love cheese. I eat and fruit cheese for breakfast sometimes. Interestingly enough, those are my best days. The days I start with cheese and fruit. This little shop packs and stacks a lot of inventory. You have a great variety of cheeses to choose from but they also sell accompaniments like fruit jam, gels, nuts, breads, crackers, olives, jarred veggies, and wine. Oh let's not be hasty when mentioning the wine. Give the shelves a careful browse. You're sure to find an old world favorite to pair with your cheese haul. Haul. Yes. That's what I said. I can't walk out with a little wedge like a normal person. I have to have at least 3 cheeses to feel excited about life ...put the spring in my step. Smile. St Augr. They have it here. Score a wedge, pair it with fruit jam, lovely crackers and a bottle of wine. Life is meant for delicious moments like this. Parking can be tricky but you'll feel mighty accomplished when you find one. There are lots of shops to visit in this neighborhood so prepare to be here for a while. Store is cute, service is great, selection of cheeses makes me pretty happy. Oh - and if that isn't enough, they also have caviar and sandwiches! Go. Shop. Enjoy.

My partner and I just recently moved to SF and this is one of our go to sandwich shops. They have very high quality ingredients and each sandwich is so delicious. My partner gets the roasted turkey and I really like the roasted chicken, the tomatoes in it are so good. The sandwiches are a good size and the price isn't too bad as far as SF goes haha! I recommend if you haven't been here before!

I've gotten cheese from there but today was the first time getting a sandwich. The short female employee was off putting and inpatient over the phone and in-person. The sandwich was mediocre with Dutch crunch bread zero crisp.

The sandwiches here are so freaking good. Delicious combinations like Serrano jamon and romesco sauce. Or fig and brie. But you can build a regular deli type sandwich if you want. With five types of homemade bread. It's also a specialty cheese shop so your choices are tip top. The best olives of any place in the city. And the person who selects their wines shares my tastebuds. I've never been disappointed by something I tried. And they just happen to carry some of my favorites. Decent prices for how convenient it is. A great place to build a platter or gift basket with the most delicious cheeses, crackers, jams and chocolates. Life is too short for mediocre food y'all. This place knows that.

My sweetie and I are both big cheese fans. We have our usual suspects: Parmigiana Reggiano, fresh mozzarella, and sharp cheddar. Then we have our favorites: Camembert and Gruyere for me, and Appenzeller and Schnabelhorn for him. Getting all our cheeses at one place is challenging. Getting Schnabelhorn anywhere can be hard, actually. But today we went to Say Cheese for the first time and oh man. We came away with all the cheeses, and some herbes de Provence olives, too. The buffala Camembert is more like a Brie, but the guy at the counter told us to expect that- and why. And it's so good, it doesn't matter! I hear borderline indecent noises coming from our kitchen now, which tells me I have to go defend my cheeses. Love it.

Woooooow-whee! This place is an absolute gem. Say Cheese is the first spot in San Francisco that made me feel like I was in Europe. (I come from two European imports and go back to visit frequently :)). The store is small but bursting at the seams with incredible cheeses, meats, wine and candies. After our first visit, we left dreaming about the sandwiches. I quickly scanned the menu while we were inside and couldn't wait to return and order one (we unfortunately came right after getting lunch elsewhere). The wait was worth it. I got the Black Forest Ham on wheat with Mendocino mustard, cambazola cheese, arugula, tomatoes, onion and pickle - WOW. Wow, wow, wow. (There is no better word for the food here, sorry.) It was absolutely divine. My friend got the Rosemary Smoked Ham on wheat and was just as thrilled. The sound effects from both of us while we were eating were hysterical. There were many "mmmmmm"s along with "Oh my gosh..." and "DAMN!" Both sandwiches survived an hour-long drive to Mt. Tam plus two hours of hiking - bouncing around a backpack - before we stopped to devour them. I can't imagine a better moment; eating a Say Cheese sandwich during golden hour on Mount Tam is a dream come true. The only thing you have to do is bite in and savour all the goodness that is life.

Unfortunately, I just had quite an unsatisfactory experience at Say Cheese. Always enjoyed going there until today. I have an arugula salad I make that is great with bresaola. I go to Say Cheese because they have very good bresaola, albeit rather expensive. Today, when I went, I asked for eight slices as I also do. I was told there is a quarter pound minimum. When I asked when that policy started, as I'd never encountered it before, I was told, "I don't know. I just work here." When I told the employee that I live in the area, had been going there for fifteen years to get this, that I was getting two slices for four salads I was making, never heard of this policy, and that it is $33 per pound, I was again told, "Like I said, I just work here." I probably could have cleared this up by asking for a manager, but I was pretty upset at the non service and the inability of this employee to mildly think outside the box. I also didn't really want to get the employee in trouble, since he obviously did want to make any mistakes. He made a big mistake though. They lost a customer and potentially more from this review. Looks like I'll be getting good bresaola, wine, and cheese elsewhere. Really too bad. Sorry, Roger.

While it's not one I frequent regularly, Say Cheese is a great specialty shop that, among its many products, offers cheese (big surprise, I know!), pastured eggs, pâtè, charcuterie, wine, olives, sweets, and sandwiches. Most commonly I've come in for the pâtè, which is a delicious treat, and have occasionally gotten sandwiches as well. Hadn't been in a while and decided to pick up a sandwich! Though a touch pricier than many nearby places, Say Cheese can boast higher quality of ingredients than many of these other places, which in my mind justifies the occasional sandwich from them. My Jamon Serrano sandwich ($12.50) came with prosciutto, arugula, manchego, and romesco sauce. It had an ample amount of prosciutto but was also kind of dry tasting. I'd add avocado, olive oil, aioli or something for better texture. I ate half right away and I think the other half I had later on actually tasted better. One of those "leftovers win" scenarios. My boyfriend had the roast beef w/ cheddar ($11? I think?) which I had a bite of and had way more substance than mine. I may get this one next time with a cheese other than cheddar, which can upset my stomach. The menu will make you drool.

Say Cheese has amazing cold sandwiches!! Love the Havarti and Avocado sammy on dutch crunch! Great cheese and meat and cracker selection for making a cheese board at home. Highly recommend!

Heard good things about this place and stood around for over 10 minutes while they made people sand witches etc... to only find out they don't have bread. It would of been nice to let me know sooner? Thanks for nothing. Working on a Saturday and hungry at Diner time

What a great little hidden shop. I love cheese so they had me at the name and then knowing they made sandwiches and had a variety of other goodies, I needed to check them out. I ordered the Jamon Serrano and my wife had the Calabrese Salami. Both were really good and the calabrese had a nice kick to it. The people working were helpful in guiding me in the right direction on what type of sandwich to get.

The gentleman that helped us, let us try the stinky blue cheese. He asked what we liked and gave us exactly just that, that beautiful stinky creamy blue cheese from France, arrrrr! We indulged with the crackers, we couldn't wait for Zazie! Tiny little shop, I'm not fat but I got a hard to navigate because the shop was packed on Sat. I was so afraid I'm gonna knock everything off the shelves. I'm clumsy and this shop makes me nervous. Other than that, good price point. If I'm in the area again, I would definitely come here to buy more cheese. SAY CHEESE!

Service is gracious. This is the kind of place where you can sample your cheese before you buy it. Their sandwiches are wonderful. My favorite for a long while was their butter, ham, and cheese, just like my adopted German family used to make.

Say Cheese is a gem in Cole Valley! I stumbled upon this adorable cheese shop that also has wines, charcuterie, breads and crackers, olive oil, jams, nuts, and deli sandwich selections. Upon walking into the shop, it was intimidating making a selection wine and cheese selection. But the staff that was at the shop made it much easier by giving me various cheese samples, and made recommendations based off my wine style preference and budget. Although the pricing is on the higher end (ie: $9 for a box of crackers!) I believe you are paying for the quality of wines and cheeses and the excellent service. Highly recommend Say Cheese if you are looking for a good place that serves anything cheese and wine related and accompanying deli sandwiches. Say cheese isn't just a cheese shop. they sell many types of gourmet foods, cured meats and sammies too. store is small. eats: rosemary roasted garlic turkey sammie. (7) -didn't taste rosemary, roasted garlic, nor turkey -came with lots of thinly sliced lettuce, mustard, pickles, tomatos, with a generous amount amount of turkey white meat on pantofalin roll. many choices of bread. -turkey not bland, dry, nor overly flavorful either. -turkey sammie not a turkey(lemon). very filling. crumbs: -store is cramped. bottleneck at cashier/sammie station. -relatively fast, courteous service for a small crew. -would reeat if nearby.
