Chicken Parm Is My Self-Care | Bon Appétit

"My childhood dentist was located in a mall. After getting my teeth cleaned, my mom would take me to the food court, where I would beeline to Sbarro and order the chicken parm that was sitting out in metal warming trays for who knows how long. The side of spaghetti was overcooked, the breaded chicken was eerily soft in a way I loved, the cheese was plentiful. Everything about it was mushy and perfect for my recently bleeding gums." - ByCarey Polis

My order on the Italian Beef Stromboli was fine. Watch out for the hot green Mexican peppers. They reheat everything in a small oven. Paid with local tax and state sales tax.

My order was fine. The customer service could be even better. The food is great as everywhere’s.

Google
This place scam customers. I bought pizza, garlic bread and a salad. They said that the salad will have discount but end up only if I also purchase a drink. Be aware!!! Scammer store!!! ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Respones: No, the so call "deal" is a trap. 1.) The salad bar lables do not include the price, so customer won't know the exact cost. 2.) When I asked the salad price, the sale indicated the combo was with the pizza, but in fact it is with the purchase of the drink. Misleading. 3.) When I see the receipt, I clearly asked why the higher price. The cashier just said that I need to buy additional drink to get the so call "deal". She did not offer to fix the problem. 4.) Other customers' reviews confirmed this (see other customer's reviews).

Bad service , hiding fees in the receipt. I paid with my credit card and they charged a 1.24$ non cash adjustment. I ll never buy anything from here again and I do not recommand!

Google
Low-end Italian food. About as good as expected. Process not clear and staff weren’t quick to help.

Yelp
About once every decade, I see a Sbarro's in a mall food court, glance at the pizza and think, "I'll give it a shot" only to conclude that the pizza isn't really too good knowing that in 10 years or so I'll give it another try. The only sausage thick crust they had came with bacon - I figured I could live with that and ordered two slices and a drink. Now here's the problem with that order - there are NO trays to put the food on and the pizza is served on flimsy plates. I ended up asking the guy behind the counter (who was very helpful) for another sheet of wax paper - he gave me that and another flimsy plate so I could stack the two pizza slices and carry them easier. Now, the tray issue is most likely the food court/mall's shortcoming as I didn't see any restaurant offering trays to carry food. As for the pizza, it was just too bland - lotsa bulk, but no flavor. Sausage wasn't authentic Italian sausage, sauce was pretty plain and the cheese seemed like minimal quality. See ya in 2032, Sbarro...

Yelp
I am frustrated with the pricing and payment policy at Sbarro. Paying almost $7 for a slice of pizza seems excessive, and it becomes even more aggravating when they add an additional charge as a "non-cash adjustment" to your bill. It appears that this adjustment penalizes customers for using credit cards instead of cash. Ideally, I think Sbarro should consider incorporating any additional costs associated with non-cash payments into the overall pricing structure. Adding it separately to the final bill feels unexpected and unfair surcharge. As a result, I have decided to no longer purchase food from Sbarro. By the way, the pizza was so so

Yelp
Standard Sbarro's in the mall. The pizza is good. It's not the best ever, and not the worst. I think it's consistent with other Sbarro's that I've been to. They always have a variety of pies to choose from, but sometimes the toppings I want isn't always on thin crust, which is my fave. I must say that I enjoy their salads and pasta more than the pizza. However, skip the lasagna. It's not good at all. It tastes like it was frozen and improperly thawed. The meat was terrible and not cheesy. I've had better microwave lasagna. For the food only, I would give this place 3 stars. But the additional star is for the service. I also work in this mall and every employee there has always been nice. I've witness them being so patient with the rudest of customers. Good job staying calm Sbarro!

Yelp
Horrible customer service Got the ziti asked if I it comes as a combo, worker mumbled something. She didn't seem like she liked her job. My advice to management get people who want to work.

Yelp
Many years ago I'd hit a Sbarro in downtown Chicago for lunch now and then. It was always very busy so the slices were always fresh. I ordered a slice of NY cheese and a slice of NY sausage because I saw the $5 off on the first order on Grubhub. I also tried the garlic bread, which for more than $2 was not worth it. Not really garlic bread in the usual sense. It was a soft tiny loaf that was lightly brushed with garlic and butter. Both slices seemed to have sat around for hours. Almost no flavor on the cheese slice and the sausage slice was only slightly better. I most likely won't order again. If I was passing by, I might peek in to see what looked fresh but if I had seen what I was getting beforehand, I would not have ordered.

Yelp
So, I know that's SBarro's ghetto. None of the pizza seems to ever be fresh no matter when I go and obviously you can eat reheated pizza at home, no problem. This obvious fact aside, there's something about this place that brings me back to my junior high years hanging out at the mall with my friends. It's like returning to adolescence in the best possible way. My husband and I came here starving after serious shopping and preparation for a wedding. We were not disappointed. We both got a slice of the supreme pizza with bottled waters and it was exactly what I wanted. The crust was perfect and the cheese was melted and the sauce was super tasty. I secretly hope I will never outgrow this guilty pleasure!! Yummy! There are two stars removed for slow Service and reheated pizza. But, for the record, I didn't expect anything else. Thank you for allowing me to relive the best part of my awkward tween years!!

Yelp
I was at the mall a few days back and decided to have lunch here wih my son, it was my first time trying Sbarro's. Cheese pizza, roast potatoes, baked ziti. The pizza was ok... everything else was gross. The ziti had no flavor, and was just generally off-putting. Idk how they managed to make roast potatoes soggy, but they did, and it was not pleasant. They tasted gluey and soggy. It's fast food .. so i get that it's not meant to be 5-star... but come on, this was ridiculous! If i'm ever there again.. will skip out and try something else.

Yelp
I stopped by here for a snack during a shopping trip at Fashion Outlets of Chicago. It's fine. The slice of supreme deep dish pizza was a big size. 1 slice was shared between 2 people with a side salad and a soda. The caesar salad with caesar dressing had too much dressing. I appreciate how the server used the tongs to pick out more croutons for us, though. There was one colorful chicken veggie salad as part of the side dishes that looked really yummy but if I wanted it as a combo, I would have had to pay $1 more and for such a small size (like a handful) it wasn't worth it to me. The line is pretty quick around 1:30pm on a Saturday. I wish my pizza slice could have been warmer and the cheese oozing. It seemed like the pizza had been sitting there for a while under dry conditions. The pizza was yummy, though, and so was the soda. I paid $10.79 for a combo shared between 2 people and it was a-ok.

Yelp
One word: N A S T Y. Expect diarrhea and food that tastes like yesterday's leftovers

Yelp
This place is meh but I suppose you kind of know what you're getting. I have actually never tried Sbarro but tonight I'm out of options staying at a nearby hotel and grossed out by other options. My advice is if you can stomach the garlic, go to Maoz vegetarian instead. Looks way fresher, healthier, and clearly the most popular option. Thin crusts here only in vegetarian and cheese, with a massive salt overload.
