SBH BBQ

The sign outside says competition style BBQ and judging by all the trophies they have on display and the outstanding taste of what I tried, the trophies are well deserved! I tried the brisket plate. It comes with cornbread and one side. First off, the cornbread, slightly sweet and perfectly cooked. My favorite style of cornbread. My side was mac and cheese. This also was a great dish. I'll definitely be back for lunch again!

Brisket was delicious! Very tasty by itself and enhanced by the sauce. Texture is fall off the bone but not disintegrated easily. I had the cream corn and it was delicious. I would go back just for the cream corn. The fried pickles was OK. It was not as crispy as I was hoping and the ranch did not do anything much to enhance the flavor. That is just me though.

Excellent bbq! The ribs were fall off the bone, but not overcooked mush. The brisket was the same, very tender but still a good texture and flavor. The cornbread was moist and fairly sweet even without any butter or honey. The mac and cheese had great flavor but I prefer mine more al dente pasta, but that's always a personal preference. Service was great. I'd definitely go back again.

They no longer have beer. The bbq is good. Meats is moist and falls off the bone. Better brisket almost everywhere in Texas but it is good. Cornbread is good but sweet.

If you're ever in the area this little BBQ is great. The service was very nice and the people were very friendly. Best bbq I've had in a long time. For my trucker buddies there is very little parking but across the street at the Comfort Inn you should have space for a couple of trucks. It's a short walk but worth it.

Ok, let's do a super short review and a really long one. Short: Eat Here, Your taste buds will thank you!! Friendly, clean, GREAT tasting FOOD!! Long version. My wife was googling places to eat near us and SBH BBQ showed up, she read some reviews and we decided to give it a try. First, it is the type of restaurant that you order when you walk in, that is my only negative comment here. I enjoy taking my time and looking at a menu of a new place, while 59 other people aren't waiting on me to order, or are going ahead of me in the line. Thankfully, we beat the crowd so I had time to look. I asked one of the guys what he recommended and I went with his recommendations, so glad I did! I ordered the judge plate. It comes with 2 pork medallions, ribs, brisket, 1/2 hot link and 1 side. Sides are an issue here as everything on the menu looks and sounds absolutely AMAZING!! Of course I added another side. The pork medallions 10 out of 10! They were delicious, they came with the sweet sauce (I think) on them. I'm very picky with brisket and this was a 10 out of 10, flavorful and tender. The ribs, 10 out of 10, once again, I believe it was the sweet sauce on them. The sauce they put on is very light and it's not too much. The hot link is off the charts! Juicy, hot, cheese oozing out🤤, so good. The sides: I ordered baked beans, good but I will try others before I order this one again. Poblano Creamed Corn brulee style, O MY!!!! Will order this many times over. Cheesy Potato Casserole🤤, once again a favorite. How am I supposed to try other sides when these are so freaking good?? Oh and the cornbread, 🤤🤤! My B-E-A-UTIFUL wife ordered the frog man sandwich, a delicious prime brisket, sauced in the sweet BBQ with melted provolone. Yep, it was good! It was also very messy, in a good way! I wouldn't recommend this one if you are on a date and want to look cute while eating. 😎 We also ordered an egg roll. They have one with Mac and cheese, will try it next time. The one ordered was with collard greens, cream cheese, brisket and a raspberry chipotle sauce. It was fantastic! I wished I would've took pictures of all the trophies in the restaurant. They have won a lot, I think when you taste the food you will understand why! The portions are generous, we did take home a good bit of food, but our recently graduated kiddos got into it before we had a chance to eat the leftovers. They said it was some of the best BBQ they've eaten. Oh, the sauces on the table are Sweet good but not my favorite. House which is very very good, my opinion it has just a taste of a kick to it. Mustard Vinegar, this is the one for me!! The perfect twang! The staff was very friendly, clean restaurant, clean restrooms, family friendly. Do yourself a favor and "taste and see"!

Dang the frog man sandwich was something. Drenched in sweet sauce, fall apart brisket. I was just driving through the south, but places like this are why I always stop for BBQ. Undeniably delicious. The spicy slaw was heavy on the horseradish, went great with the samich but I wouldn't eat it alone. Hype is real.

I was looking for some burnt ends and decided to try this place out last week but they didn't have any so I decided to try the wings along with the brisket and mac and cheese egg roll. I ordered online and it was about midday, maybe 2:30 p.m. or 3:00 p.m., and went to pick it up. Upon walking in, there was a guy the register who seemed very friendly and welcomed me in while he was assisting another customer at the register. The restaurant was absolutely empty but it was midday so no biggie, the guy at the cash register stepped away to prepare food for the first gentleman and a woman came and finished helping the first guy at the register. About a minute or two later, another gentleman came in and stood behind me. At this point, the lady helping the first customer at the register saw that I was next in line but decided to look me up and down, then looked behind me and asked the guy if he was there to pick up an order. She then proceeded to assist him as if I was not there and she looked dead at me knowing I was next. I shook my head and already knew what time it was, so when she was done helping the first guy and the guy that was behind me, she attempted to be friendly and asked me if she could help me. I told her I was there to pick up my online order, she then opened my bag that was wrapped up and tied up and looked in it and asked me if I needed any sauce or plastic wear and I told her no because I did not trust her putting anything in my bag or even taking my bag anywhere where I could not see it. She did not ask the guy behind me if he needed anything and she did not open his tied up bag so I was skeptical of her opening mine especially after how she treated me. I was very annoyed by this lady, she, to me, sarcastically told me to have a good day and I ignored her. I will never go back to this place ever again. When I got home the wings were not what they looked like online, they were very dry with no flavor and were not fresh. The mac and cheese and brisket egg roll was dry, halfway filled, and barely had any meat in it. This was such a disappointment for nearly $25, I ended up having to spend even more money by getting a salad from Publix which was way better! I really wanted to enjoy this place but I would never recommend based off the service alone from this lady. I've done 100s of reviews everywhere that I go so this is a very valid review and was my actual experience.

Wow! Best Brisket Philly and possibly sandwich I've ever had inn my life. The wings were phenomenal as well and the owners could not be any nicer or more professional! I will be back again and again

Cool little BBQ place in strip mall, and think has bar in back. Went for lunch and got the brisket sandwich, onion rings and tried a Tornado. Sandwich and onion rings were top notch, but felt the tornado was super dry and almost tasted like old brisket they turned into an appetizer. Would like to come back for dinner to have beer and frog sandwich.

I hope and pray that this place stays open in perpetuity. Sounds dramatic but seriously, this was the best bbq I've ever had and that was 3 yrs ago. In cleaning out my pics on my phone recently, I came across the video I took of the food I ordered, and with a watery mouth, all of the memories came rushing back, lol. I live in NYC where true bbq is a fantasy--please continue making tasty meals until I can come back!

No frills, just delicious BBQ! Located in a strip mall the place has indoor and outdoor seating. Ordered the brisket and ribs. Both were good but my favorite item was something I did not order! They gave me a sausage and it was amazing! Even better than the meats were the sides. Cornbread was fresh baked and delicious, the sweet potato dish was amazing, and the poblano cream corn was made with a crème brûlée sugar top, talk about next level. My only criticism would be they need to use a better rub on their meats. Brisket had that great BARK we all love but wasn't seasoned well. Same with the ribs. I need to introduce them to MEAT CHURCH rubs. Maybe they will see this review, google Meat Church, and use their rubs?

Great brisket flavor and super moist. The ribs are also excellent. Very nice owners who are passionate and take pride in their food..

Excellent food. Hot dog w/creamy cole slaw & the brisket sammich w/o the smoked gouda cheese add mustard vinegar sauce. Enjoyed every bite. I plan on running thru the menu Wish I had ordered more. "I SHALL RETURN AGAIN" (Exit 54 off i85 Grnville S.C across from Circle K gas station)

I went for lunch and tried the brisket sandwich. It was loaded with meat. Everything I tried including the egg roll, macaroni, fries and wings were delicious!

I would recommend for a fast bbq plate that actually tastes great. The tray is pretty large for what it costs and the ribs were fantastic. I would definitely come back.

I have been a couple of times and gotten the pulled pork sandwich and sweet potatoes. It's so good and a must try. Also the service is so good! Great space even when busy!

Got to share this place in Travelers Rest - not kidding now, I take my barbecue smokey and tender so this place is Nirvana!! Some serious ribs, brisket and double cooked crispy fries did the trick to put this place on my favorites list. Craving it all so I'll be eating there regularly.

So tasty!!! We rely heavily on Yelp reviews so we stopped on our way south from PA and this place did not disappoint! Friendly staff, clean dining area and great brisket. Service is fast too. We'll be back for sure!

The only thing and I mean the only thing keeping this place from the full five stars is that they are out of chicken and ribs again for my second time coming here. I believe that says a lot about how good the food is here because if it's sold out every day then it has got to be great. The other food I've had here has been so so it only stands to reason that that would be as well. I'm hoping one day to personally confirm myself but it will not be today.

So updated review of my five star review. Still five stars. As always, I try to judge a review against what the establishment itself states as the goal. This place is a made to order establishment. Nothing frozen, always fresh. Pork is pulled, not chopped, so the difference is in quality. Some reviewers have failed to understand the mark of standard here - this is not another run-of-the mill BBQ place. It's made to order championship BBQ at your doorstep. So, they guess at demand, cook hoping for the best match for supply vs demand, and sometimes get it wrong. Tonight, ran out of pulled pork at 6:15 PM. Unfortunate but, in demand. Smoked 25 butts last night, hit with a large lunch demand, an uptick from "normal" and got shorted on some orders. Same deal on lunch wings. Point being, for this type BBQ you can't show up with a McDonalds mentality. Nothing wrong with McDonald's but don't compare your fast food experience with a customized championship BBQ plate that is hand pulled by a pro!

Four Stars for Service but Five Stars for Food!!! The ambiance was clean and spacious. The food was absolutely fantastic but we left the restaurant and returned home before noticing an entree was missing. We had to go back for it which added another 25 minutes in travel time to our day. The restaurant did call us which was good service, but we were almost home at the time of the call. In my opinion better service would entail a compensation in some form such as a free egg roll or a discount next time etc.. Plus by the time we got home for the final time, all the food was a little cold. BUT NO HARD FEELINGS BECAUSE THE FOOD TASTE MADE UP FOR IT! Get both types of egg rolls! They were out of this world good! They are large and fried and have delicious interiors! We can't pick a favorite of the two. The bbq sauces are some of the best I have ever had. The house sauce is great and better than average I would say. The sweet sauce has a spicy kick which was unexpected and very good. The vinegar mustard sauce was so tasty and a great play on the typical NC vs SC bbq sauce! The wings were a perfect texture and had great seasoning on them to the point you didn't even need bbq sauce if you didn't want it. The cornbread that came with the dinner plate had perfect spongy texture and a good flavor. The Mac and cheese was good but not as good as chick filas with their crispy bites of cheese. I would probably opt to try a different side item next time. However, if you are craving a standard home made Mac and cheese taste this will satisfy that. The ribs are a must try! The meat practically falls off the bone and we did not use sauce, nor did we want too because the flavor of the ribs themselves was epic! Hot links are not normally my favorite but the rib and brisket plate we ordered came with 1/2 of one and it was great for a hot link. It had a lot of flavor and was juicy and packed a punch. The brisket melted in your mouth and had a great texture but was lacking significantly in flavor! The sauces made up for that when we dunked the brisket in but nothing a little more seasoning can't fix since the texture is 100/100! The pulled pork sandwich had tons of fried jalopeons on it which added great texture and flavor. The proportions of filings on it were perfect and it was LARGE sandwich! We would definitely recommend this place and we will for sure come back.

Food was pretty good. Atmosphere not amazing, but fine for BBQ with some outdoor seating on a deck (next to noisy road). But only 3 stars because 1) They were out of ribs at 5:30 on a Thursday! What BBQ restaurant runs out of ribs?! 2) They charge a "to go" fee AND a "hospitality" fee on top of already high prices. Who does that? Just feels sneaky. 3) I ordered ahead and there's no one really here, but my order took 50 minutes! Overall, my first visit and not won over wondering if they'll have meat (see pic from their store) and feeling less than loyal when fees are added for no reason. Build it into your prices! Clearly a small business that doesn't understand the world is competitive.

We were looking for a place for some good barbecue that was not too far from the highway. We had a long trip between Mississippi and Virginia. We were pleasantly surprised when we tried this place. The meat was very tender and tasty, and to add with three barbecue sauce for over the moon, the staff was very friendly and helpful and we really enjoyed the experience.

Food is good but over priced! I'm a pit master and they are gauging the customer. Service is good as well as the ambiance!!!!!!!

The employees taking your order are extra friendly. They appreciate your tip it is well deserved. The restaurant is bigger than looks. It is very comfortable inside. The food is crazy good. I am from Texas and this barbecue could hold its own. Look forward to coming back.

Their ribs are excellent!! Service is outstanding! We normally just get takeout. But each time the food has been really good and fresh!

Went to Travelers Rest location at 515 on a Saturday and they had no ribs. Guy at register not very nice!

Today, the pork was dry and very tough. I was also given less than I paid for. Even in the packaging, the weight was off. This experience has changed my opinion and lowered it's rank on my personal bbq list. Feeling like I'll need to weigh my food when it's sold by the pound is off putting. Also, when you expect the pork to be tender, flavorful, and delightful but it may be dry and tough.. that's not a game I want to play with my BBQ.

Terrific barbecue in a little strip mall. Got the judge's plate -- brisket, ribs, pork medallions, sausage, beans, toast. Also got collards, mac n cheese, and cornbread. EVERYTHING was delicious. It's easy to see why they are award winners. Pork ribs had a nice, deep smoke, slightly sweet glaze, and great texture! Brisket was tender, enough smoke and not overly seasoned. Pork medallions had a sweeter glaze and were nice and tender. The sausage was unlike the sausages we typically get at bbq joints in Texas. Texture was denser -- more hot link style -- with a subtle heat to it. The house sauce was a beautiful, deep color, with enough sweetness, balanced acid, and hints of coffee. The beans were sweet and the chunks of sausage and potatoes brought in a lovely contrast in texture. Mac and cheese was like Nana's -- perfectly textured and cheesy. Greens were straightforward letting the veg shine through, cooked to just right and not overly stewed. Now the cornbread...well...it was the most delicate and light cornbread I have ever had. The staff was also very welcoming and warm. We will certainly return when we are out this way.

One of my new favorite BBQ spots in the upstate! Staff is friendly, food is delicious and is prepared with the quickness during lunch rush. The sauce bar has an option for everyone's taste and they have a cool bar area located right behind the main counter you order at when walking in the front door. I would recommend trying one of the specialty sandwiches...the one I had featured pulled pork & a hot link sausage! So good!!!

Best bbq I've ever had. Ribs and all the meats we tried were nothing short of amazing. Service was pretty quick even with a big line in front and behind us.

Location Just off 85-exit Pelham Road-turn left-one block, maybe. Parking Large free lot Seating Booths and tables for 2-more. Large bar in the back and scattered hi tops. Food and beverage Specials listed for food and beverages. Long list of beers and cocktails. We wanted to split the chicken dinner that comes with 1/2 chicken, pulled pork, one side-they had run out of it so we had the pulled pork sandwich with sweet potato mash, pork medallions-by the pound-4 pieces=1/4 lb-comes with corn bread. Mac n cheese was great. I did not get pictures as those already online great. 3 kinds of BBQ sauce available by the drink section. I liked the honey mustard but the house sauce was much better-ketchupy/spicey. Order at the entrance counter. Also offer iced tea, fountain drinks. Desserts include a toffee cake and banana pudding. Kids menu with standard offerings. A catering menu available! Close at 8 pm-get there early as they run out of the popular items. Summary Conveniently located delicious bbq restaurant-get there early.

Some of the best brisket in the upstate. Very nice bark and smoke ring. Perhaps a bit overly tender but very flavorful. Banana pudding is outstanding and a great selection of draft beer. The sides are good and a nice selection. The place is clean and roomy. What a nice atmosphere.

Amazing again! Try the firecrackers, it's a jalapeño pepper stuffed with smoked pulled pork and cream cheese then wrapped in bacon and smoked. They are so good I'm regretting not ordering two! Lol

Barbecue doesn't have any smoke taste. It reminds me of being cooked in an oven color greens were the worst I've ever had in my life. greens had no vinegar taste no pork had like a sweet barbecue sauce added total garbage. And left the big stems in there wow. when you go into a restaurant and they tell you that it's slow but they're running out of ribs and it's 5 o'clock there's a problem. That's why you're slow because you can't judge how much to cook good luck you made it five years I don't think you'll make it five more.

I got the Frog Hog which was outstandingly good. The meat wasnt fatty but wasn't dry, the onion rings had a great crisp, and the sweet bbq sauce was delicious. I also got a side of the sweet potato crunch which was really good as well, nice and sweet, highly recommend! I do wish they were more generous with sauce, instead of charging 50 cents per extra little container. My sandwich came with sauce on it so I was informed I didn't get any additional sauce. Frankly it could have used more. This is the first BBQ place I've been so that doesn't just have sauces available as much as you need. I think the basic sanitation of the place could be improved. I was prepared to give this a 5 star review until I saw the employee who was putting orders together blow his nose. He had gloves on, but he blew it, folded the paper and blew again, and did that fold and blow a third time. After throwing away the soggy paper, I watched him go right back to work, directly handling meat without changing gloves! Pity whoever got the snot sandwich, that's how people get sick. Tell your employees to change their dang gloves! Also, the entire floor of the restaurant was coated in slick grease, to the point that people were telling one another to be careful walking around. Should be cleaned regularly I really felt like I was on an ice rink.

Food is great but they ALWAYS run out of stuff. Not a single time that we have come have they had the full menu.

First, full disclosure i used yo own a bbq restaurant outside chicago. This place is outstanding in everyway. Decor- modest but what hits you in the face are all of their awards. A good sign of a good q. Ordered in line and simple menu. Had the brisket sandwich, my son had the frog hog sandwich. We ordered the tornados, jalrpenos stuffed with chese and bacon with bbq sauce. Also sampled the cole slaw and O rings. All comes on trays and drinks, sauce abd utencils are self serve. The torados were so delish. Right proportions of everything. Spicy, sweet and salty. My sammy was super lean and also good portion of protein. My sons jumbo frog hog was out of bounds. Hes 6'3" and 200 lbs and could barely finish. The slaw was not great as it was described as creamy and it was not. The sauces were good with a very spicy one. Very dark sauces signal a lot of molasses if you like that kind of sauce. To top it all off the bathrooms were spotless. Only thing i might complain about is thst he ran out of ribs at it was open for only 15 mins when we got there. Need to inventory more ribs but outstanding overall.

I had the combo with brisket, ribs and sausage combo. The brisket and ribs were exceptional but I wasn't a big fan of the sausage. It was a bit hot for my taste. I'll definitely go back.

Best selection, best meats, best price. Can't recommend this highly enough. Make sure you get there early, when it's gone it's gone. Best bbq in the upstate!

This place is absolutely incredible! Had the judges plate and WOW. Everything on the plate was spectacular, but the ribs in particular blew me away. I'm a huge fan of BBQ and I can't remember a place better than SBH. Beyond the food, Steve and Kelly are incredible owners and the type of people you feel good supporting. This place is a must go in every way!

Ordered take out for a party of 10 and everyone loved it all. Had Brisket and Ribs along with Chopped BBQ. Was excellent.

I know food costs are higher but this ridiculous....I ordered 2lbs of pastrami a large brisket sandwich it all came to $70! The last few times I've come I have spent twice as much for less than what they used to give! I wouldn't mind higher prices if it was the same but this idk.... gonna try one more time I guess

Very good food. Great scenery. Pleasant and accommodating staff. Unfortunately once they're out of something for that day they are out of it.

Wow, just wow! Hub and I just enjoyed the most juicy and delicious brisket we've ever had, along with tender pulled pork, spicy sausage, ribs and baked beans. And the extra side of sweet potato crunch was ah-ma-zing. Take my word for it - pass by all the others and head straight here for your next BBQ fix!

This place was excellent. I was greeted within seconds of entering the door and the hostess was very polite and welcoming. The restaurant was very clean and well decorated. Plenty of space for seating and a bar around the backside of the front register. They also have a patio for outside dining. I placed a take out order for a prime rib brisket sandwich which came on Texas toast, a side of collard greens, a side of Mac and cheese and a drink. My total was $17.43, before tipping. The food was delivered surprisingly fast! Everything was hot and seasoned well. I ordered the house bbq sauce and the mustard vinegar sauce which I thought I would need, but to be honest I could have eaten the whole sandwich without a sauce.. it was just that good. I would definitely return, and bring friends with me. Thank you SBH!

Loved my lunch here! I asked for a recommendation and the Frogman brisket sandwich with onion rings on top and provolone was awesome! (About $9) extremely tender brisket, crunchy onion rings, fluffy bun. I didn't order a side and the amount of food was perfect for me. They offer incredible baked beans with chunks of burnt ends and other bbq flavors. Not your typical sweet beans! Other sides available were slaw, Mac n cheese, onion rings, fries. There was meat by the pound, smoked wings, pork or chicken nachos, other sandwich choices, and sausages. Everything looked and smelled wonderful! The atmosphere is open, clean, and rustic modern, full of trophies from the friendly owner's competitions. Love the patio with string lights, when the weather is nice it will be fabulous.

The brisket sandwich at SBH is the best you'll ever find. The brisket is the best I've ever tasted, literally melts in your mouth. Brisket sandwich comes with melted provolone cheese on what looks like grilled cheese white bread. Fries as a side were on point as well. I am in town for a soccer tournament and dined there with a group of 15 or so. Every single person agreed it's some of the best BBQ food they've had. Service was top notch and food came quickly. We will visit again next time we're in Greenville!

BBQ lovers must try this place! Casual restaurant, friendly service, food was AWESOME. Recommend pulled pork sandwich, sweet potato casserole, collard greens egg roll, St. Louis ribs, sausage link, pulled pork, potato and cheese casserole (the froggie platter). Everything was delicious- even the pickled onions and pickle garnish was good. Kid meal options also (tenders/sliders). Prices are reasonable. This is a no frills place, but it doesn't need any- everything is good.

Have heard for a while that this place has the best BBQ in the area and boy do they ever. My wife and I got there just after they opened. We were welcomed with a friendly greeting. I ordered the judges plate and my wife got the nachos. Sides of Mac n chz, spicy coleslaw, and sweet potato crunch. Everything - and I mean everything - was INCREDIBLE. Ribs were some of the best I've had anywhere and honestly the same for the rest of the meats I got. Brisket was to die for, the sausage was just unreal and the pork medallions may have been the star of the show. What a fantastic experience and I can't wait to come back again. Definitely the best all around BBQ experience in the entire upstate of SC.

What a find! Wanted some bbq after leaving the airport on my long drive back home w d found this place. It was so good I might fly out of GSP over CLT more often just to work more meals here. Brisket was amazing and ribs were delicious. My only regret is I have but one stomach to give and it is stuffed for the drive home.

I can't believe I've wasted several years driving past their location to only now find out how unbelievable this BBQ is. They have certainly earned their numerous competition Grand Champion awards, and it comes through in the food and experience, even though we had take out. I had the Frog Platter, giving a sample of ribs, pulled pork, and hot link sausage. Sausage was smoky, spicy, and filled with cheese I think... I rarely get this but thought it was great. Pulled pork was juicy and full of flavor. Ribs were the best I've ever had. I've been trying my hand at ribs this year, and realize how far from the mark I am - these were simply outstanding. The banana pudding was great. Trust me, the wife is a connoisseur of banana pudding and she endorses it! Looking forward to returning and trying the Frog Man Sandwich.

I just happened upon SBH on my home to Moore. Excellent bbq and a very friendly staff. When I am in the area I will definitely be back.

Great customer service and the food is DELICIOUS. I bought a lunch combo with brisket, sausage, ribs, corn bread and fries. The ribs are the best ribs I have ever tried. Just go and try it!
