One by one I have been crossing off all the recommended eateries in Atlantic City and this one was near the top for Italian food. We were definitely not disappointed, I didn’t realize how tiny this place is with the bar taking up more than half the dining room space, this added to the home town friendly feel and atmosphere. We were wedged into our seats as seating is very tight here but we were made to feel comfortable and welcomed by the friendly staff. The menu bolstered a quality but old school Italian favorites. We started by sharing a perfectly put together mixed salad that was fresh and tasty. We followed up with the chicken parmegianna, which which was freshly fried and crisp, with a delicious tomato sauce and mozzarella melted on top, a huge and wonderful portion. We also had the veal Milanese which was also very fresh and expertly coated and fried, it was topped with sautéed broccoli rabe, peppers and mozzarella, my only complaint was that the broccoli rabe was overcooked, I like it green and aldente this was a little mushy and soggy, it did not stop me from woofing it all down. We had a very tasty homemade canolli for dessert. We definitely loved our dinner at Scannicchio’s, a treasured piece of Atlantic City.
