Free exhibitions highlight student, faculty, and guest artists in a gallery that’s long supported Tampa’s arts community. Look for seasonal shows and receptions that invite the public onto UT’s historic campus.

The Zooming Superheroes exhibition put this gallery on my radar, and my partner and I attended the evening reception. The exhibition was well-researched and designed, providing a lot of fascinating information about the evolution of comic book art and printing in a way that was fun and easy-to-grasp. Not to mention the hands-on learning displays! I love that this gallery was open-minded enough to take comics seriously and consider their artistic merit. The gallery staff was friendly and helpful, including the director, Jocelyn, who we had the pleasure of speaking with for a little while. The level of entertainment that we received at no cost was incredible, and we will definitely be back for whatever comes next!

This is a stunning gallery in the heart of University of Tampa Urban campus. The current exhibit is not to be missed. The Scholastics Art and Writing Exhibition celebrates our talented youth. You will be delighted!

This is a secret gem. The gallery hosts a large variety of art from all over the map. Not to mention the primer for graduating and up and coming artists.

Yelp
This is a nice University of Tampa gallery. The building decor is 1920s style Art Deco. I was there for a tech art exhibit and there was some interest 3-D printing and virtual reality going on. Follow them on Facebook or Instagram to get updates. Or get on their mailing list. University of Tampa has many great programs.and institutions that are open to the community. Wonderful. There is also a nice art gallery across from UT on the other side of Kennedy. They do nice glass exhibits. And the Henry Plant Museum has some Victorian art and exhobitions including a nice gift shop nearby. And the gardens in front of it jave several sculptures, fountains and artistic views. UT campus also has a zen garden, fraternity and sorority painted rocks, a post modern chapel.and a decent library building. Holla!

Yelp
This is a nice big gallery space located inside the Bailey Arts Studios building at University of Tampa. Entry to visit the gallery is free, and parking is free and just a short walk away at the North parking garage (just about a quarter-mile north of the Studios, and park above the second floor- the bottom two floors are reserved for students). The current show, which coincides with Black History month, is showcasing the lovely woodblock cuts of Maxwell Taylor. Because the gallery space is so large, they can really show off a lot of work here. Great lighting for the artworks too. They frequently change exhibitions, so make sure to keep up to date with new shows on their Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/scarfonehartley/
