Schaendorf Brewing Company

We were staying in town for the weekend and told this place is a must go. Well, we were not disappointed. Nothing bad to say. We sat at the bar and had a great time. Drinks were great. Food was even better. Probably one of the best steaks I’ve had in a long time. We talked to the bartender a bit and it seems like everyone genuinely enjoys their job and were happy. This is a rare find. An absolute must try!

They have farm to table down! Their own beef supplied here was so good. We can't wait to return!

We were in the relative area of Schaendorf from the Cleveland area for the tulip festival and love to try different breweries and it did not disappoint! I tried the cranberry saison and the shandy and my partner tried the black IPA. We were very happy with the selection options in types of craft beer. We got the appetizer special of pot pie poutine and complements to the chef who came up with it because it was incredible! Burger and chicken sandwich we ordered came out hot and were both delicious! We sat at the bar and the bartender (I didn’t catch his name) was very attentive to his customers, and was a good conversationalist with us as well. They celebrates nurses week all week as well which was also a plus!! Attaching a picture of the poutine! Will stop again if we are in the area!

I liked the beer the most, and the atmosphere. I had ordered my burger to be cooked medium rare, if just a bit of pink. You be the judge looking at the pictures. They did make me another one but I don't think it was any different.

Yum. The moment we walked in I was impressed. Spacious, clean, darker inside with a great patio. Really loved the patio set up. Not to much sun And the furniture was good seating. I was impressed on the portion sizes and the parm garlic and smoked buttermilk aioli were so good with our brussel sprouts. Our server was a sweetheart and it was a gorgeous day and my toddlers enjoyed having the patio. I will come back here again.

Traveling from WI to St Julian, found this place searching for breweries, and we're so happy we did. My son said it was the best chicken tenders he's ever had. All the food was excellent. If we ever find our way in that area again, it will definitely be a stop.

Good solid restaurant/pub. I had the burger of the week special and it was cooked exactly as I requested (rare). Sweet potato fries could have cooked a tad bit longer but were still tasty. I had an in-house brewed beer that was very good, too. The best part is their tie in with the Schaendorf Cattle Company. There is a small meat market as you enter the building and they sell amazing cuts of meat. We’ll be back for more food and meat!

Food was great beer was great. The environment is great, but I literally sat there staring at the bartender for 20 minutes waiting for her to come and even acknowledge I was there.

John was phenomenal!! Pickle rick burger had the most incredible taste!! Gooey cheese curds and the most incredible fresh options for a new meal options.

I first visited a week ago and was treated to engaging and efficient service, a great blood Orange wheat beer and some killer fried mushrooms. The shrooms are sliced oyster mushrooms in a batter, they were great. I also took advantage of the fresh beef cooler near the front door and grabbed cowboy ribeyes, which I cooked yesterday and they were fantastic. They raise their own beef! The steak pic was just before cooking and it was fresh, never frozen. Can't wait to visit during warmer weather as they have a deck, with tables.

Great food. Staff is friendly and service has been fast. Beef is local birth to table. And taste excellent.

Ask for Lea as your server!! She's seriously the best!! Amazing food, Brussels are a must try!

Dinner last night was fantastic! At our table: burger (excellent), wrap (great) , Mac &Cheese (loved it) but the reason for my review is both my wife and I had the Walleye Special. It could easily rank as the best fish I've had in 20 years! Big piece, perfectly cooked, amazing light crust and a sauce to die for!

Steaks are phenomenal! Service is 2nd to none! The ambiance is very warm and welcoming! The deck when you can get on it is very comfortable and shaded if you want shade or sunny if you want sun! One of our favorites when in Allegan!

We ordered burgers. Lettuce, tomato and raw onion. Simple. I was so hungry I took two bites before I realized the lettuce was bad. Not just wilted, dark brown. The tomato was nasty and they waved the onion over the burger but failed to put any on it! Two tiny bits fell out of their hand as they waved over the burger! Got a side of their mushroom soup. It was mushroom puree that was sweet tasting, not savory! Yuck! Totally disappointed! Do better! Enclosed is the lettuce and tomato they expected me to eat. I pray I don't get sick from this!

I really loved shaendorfs for a long time. But recently they seriously upped their prices and is no longer easy to take my family to.

Great brewery and restaurant. They have quality food and beer here. They also are the butcher of their meats, have a processing plant in the area. Must be good because the wait was a while, but we found 2 seats at the bar and ordered there. Overall the food was pretty good for the area. They have a great beer selection. Cool thing too is you can get your beer on a to go cup and take it with you in the street.

Beer, food and service was excellent. The chicken tenders were homemade and delicious, as were the fries and zucchini strips.

I forgot to take photos but the food and beer was fantastic! Our server (Jason, I think) was very nice and friendly, and also was able to suggest good food items to try and his favorite beers. In our party we enjoyed the cheese curds which were probably deep friend but didn't have a thick coating on them, instead they were light and airy! We also had the steak sandwich with added Swiss cheese (Jason's suggestion). The steak was cooked perfect for the sandwich! We also had the Real Reuben and really liked the flavors on this. Corned beef and sauerkraut and cheese- yum! All the beers were good but i had the Straw Tiger. It was nice and refreshing! We will be back!

Our server was excellent, truly outstanding. But my Cauliflower Curry was anything but. It was cauliflower, cherry tomatoes and cashew pieces in a heavy cloying marinara sauce reminiscent of tomato paste, served over rice. There was no curry in sight. The naan that came with the dish was deep fried, not the way I prefer my naan and loaded with calories. I did ask prior to ordering if the dish was a good choice and was told people love it. I can't imagine. This really can't be true. I should have ordered a burger or a steak. My dinner companion's salad was tres ordinaire. Either we both ordered the wrong things, or the people who love this restaurant exist in an alternate reality.

Always liked this place. Told everyone to check it out. Then last Friday night happened. I ordered a bacon cheeseburger which unknown to me comes with no lettuce, pickles, and onions which most come with it. The waitress said I didn't order it so I don't get it. Shocked I said I'll pay for it if it's that fine of a line on profits. My bill was $84 and I can't get a little onion and a pickle for a burger??? About 20 minutes later she brought me a piece of lettuce on a plate and said here. Then after an hour she refilled our drinks (finally) however she didn't add ice or bother to dump out the inch of melted ice water. So I sent an email and an instant message to their email address and Facebook. It's been one week and not a word back from whoever is in charge of this place. Too bad too I liked it. Never again. Way too many options and great places to eat at nowadays to deal with bad customer service from the waitress, and then from the owners too.

Our go to restaurant when we come into town for deer camp, phenomenal food and atmosphere , great staff and John is the man who usually takes care of us, highly recommended.

Wait: We were seated as soon as we walked into the main dining area. Atmosphere: Modern craft brew bar type atmosphere. There were tables, high top tables, a bar where you could sit and order drinks and an outdoor seating area. There were also some TV's with baseball games on. Service: Our server was great. She came up to the table less than a minute after being seating and took our drink orders. Once we got our drinks and had a minute to look at the menu we ordered. Again... the server was ready when we were. Food: I ordered the Cuban Sandwich. It was not the standard Cuban though as it came on Ciabatta bread. I don't think that made a great difference as the bread seemed fresh and didn't really detract from the sandwich. The pickles and sauce were really good and pretty much saved the sandwich as the pulled pork was somewhat dry. Overall: The place was nice, good atmosphere, solid service and pretty good tasting food. I'd go back again... but would probably order something else next time.

The food here is good about 60% of the time, so be cautious. The service seems piss poor at best. If you're queer & If you wish for a night of micro-agressions (waiting twice as long as others for wait staff to notice you, consistently placed in bad seating) this is thw place for you.

Always a fun time and the food quality is predictably good. Bartenders can be kind of cranky though! Lol!

Great atmosphere. Good service Poor food. Poor management. My wife order macaroni. It was so salty it was a total joke. All four of us tried a noodle and had to spit it out. It was called to our waitress' attention. It was taken away and the same dish was brought back!!! What the heck?! We offered to let the cook, manager and waitress try it to see how poisoned it was, but no. The drinks were ok and the other meals were average, one slightly above. We paid for it, will never return and tell as many people about it as we can. Don't go. Absolutely un believable!

Tasty , reasonably priced, & fantastic atmosphere. We went in for a late lunch/early dinner. We all had perfectly cooked burgers & the cheese curds (which are aaaaaamazing)

Unfortunately we were given a gift card to go here. We finally made the drive. We went early got on the list to be seated. Told it would be 30min. After 35min went back and asked how close we were to being seated. Our place was not on the system even though we had the automated texts from the system showing we did indeed. We were told we'd be seated next only to wait another 30min as others were seated. Finally seated in a corner, food came decent speed and was ok. Used the gift card and paid the bill. Waiter came back and had given us the wrong bill so I then owed more. Paid with cash and left a tip. Adding everything up we were over charged by about $20 before tip. Overall food was ok, service less than good. Save your money go to Old Mill in Plainwell. Food and service is 100% every time there.

Possibly one of the best burgers I've ever had the pleasure of eating. Our server was very friendly and attentive.

First time here today. We went for lunch because someone recommended it. Server was nice, but she only came back once and we had to wait a long time to get our check. They weren't busy at all. I had the steak sandwich. The steak wasn't hot or even warm. The fries were awful. Overcooked, dry, and cold. My husband ordered the reuben and sweet potato fries. He said the reuben was good, but the meat was really tough, and said the sweet potato fries were disappointing. Like my french fries, they were cold and over cooked. We probably won't go back.

The service is awesome. Everyone from the hostess to the servers and bussers were fantastic. The steak bites are my favorite. The surprise of the night was the cheese curds! I typically don't order cheese sticks because they all seem the same, but these are outstanding. If you even remotely like cheese, get these! The rubin was great, the 4 stars is because the fish dinner was full of bones. I expect a small bone here or there, but this was every bite, almost like it wasn't fileted correctly. When I asked to send it back, and I had not eaten more than a few bites, they would only allow a substitute, not a refund. The problem was I didn't really want anything else that was compatible in price, so that was disappointing. So if I chose something $10.00 less, I still had to pay the full amount. The ranch dressing tastes homemade and is also yummy!

We ate here on Friday December 3, 2021. This restaurant is awesome. My wife and I really were impressed. The space is large, warm, and extremely clean. The staff was friendly and did an overall excellent job. My wife had some kind of salad with fruit and nuts and a side of awesome perfectly prepared French fries. I absolutely enjoyed a perfectly cooked, and delicious 18oz T Bone. Possibly the best steak I've ever had at a restaurant. Most times when I've had a restaurant steak I leave unimpressed, feeling like I wasted my money. We came from New Boston Mi 2.5 hours away RJ try this steak and it was worth it. 100%. I also enjoyed a double order of those perfectly prepared awesome fries. Pure deliciousness. We will be back, and You should check this place out.

Arrived to a 35 minute wait but were able to find a spot at the end of the bar and decided to eat there. We tried all their lighter beers, which were all solid. As an appetizer, we had the pretzel, which was very large, and decent. For dinner we had the steak wrap with fries which was very good. The service from the bar staff was excellent. Despite being very busy, they were very attentive and took time to engage in conversation. Overall, a very pleasant experience.

Overpriced. Slow service. Crazy seating instructions-despite open tables we had to wait 20 minutes until the server whose "turn" it was could take us. RIDICULOUS. It's a steak joint from a FARM who raises their own beef and steaks are +$40. Skip this place-it's a waste of money.

Food was awesome. I'm not sure if they have outdoor seating, but we are indoors & it was really cold, due to AC fan blowing in our direction. Not sure if there was any seat you could avoid that. Other than that it was good food & waitstaff. Thank you!

Their beef is local, fresh, and tasty for burgers (even if not from a premium breed). The chicken fingers are a favorite of one of my kids. The kitchen puts out inventive and delicious weekly specials. We enjoy several of their beers, especially their hazies. They waitstaff has always been pleasant and timely. The dining room can get loud, but it's just the architecture. The wait can get long; I wish they'd bring back a waitlist feature. We're local, so we eat here about every at 6-8 weeks -- more often in the summer, when we can sit on the (quiet) deck.

Excellent food, great service, and a comfortable atmosphere! This is the best place to eat in the Allegan area.

Steaks are great, wine selection is terrible - only cheap Michigan wines. Food is generally pretty good. Very noisy. Service is hit or miss.

Everything we had was excellent! The patio is great. Steaks were wonderful, chicken was fantastic and Mac and cheese was fantastic. Highly recommend!

Fantastic beer! Great service and a nice menu. I only had the cheese curds, but if the rest of the menu is half as good, I'm sold. These were great! All the meat sourced locally as well, gotta love that. My server was knowledgeable, very polite, and very fast. I will Make this 30 minute drive again. Great job! Oh, and a cool outdoor patio!

Amazing steak restaurant Tucked away in the tiny town of Allegan. I had the filet mignon, and it was melt-in-your mouth delicious! I have been to other high, priced steak houses, such as Ruth Chris, and I have to say that the food here was much better, and at a much better price than what I spent there. The atmosphere is lively, and we have already returned for a second meal! Both times our servers were excellent. Alyssa served us on our second visit, but I am afraid I can't remember the name of our other server. If you're looking for great steak from a local establishment, then come here!

burgers are always good, eating area is loud but i still enjoy going for a burger, i also love the fries.

We discovered this restaurant during the 4th of July fireworks in Allegan. Just another boilerplate brewery type joint like all the others popping up all over America right? Wrong. The food is a cut above any brewery food I have ever had. The meat is all locally sourced meat and cooked to perfection giving all the dishes a very intense flavor that you just can't get from your run of the mill burger joint. . The southwest burger was the best burger I have ever had. The French Dip - I don't even like French Dip and yet this was super tasty. Steak tacos: fugetaboutit. Delicious. The best part: you can buy any of the choice meats on your way out and cook them at home.

Great food and even better service!! Chicken tenders are amazing, steak bites, the pretzel, pulled pork, literally everything we have had has been good, oh and don't forget the fries!!!

So I'd actually give this place a 4.5 out of 5. We had a few beers the hazy ipa was excellent. Food wise we had the steak tacos and steak sandwich. The beef was delicious! Seasoned perfectly and melted like butter in your mouth. We will definitely be back!!

I'm pretty disappointed. First I had a burger and fries. I don't eat pork but somehow small pieces of it ended up on my burger. For this reason alone I will never be back. Also we asked for a regular menu and what they brought us was q pretty nasty looking way over used sheet wrapped in plastic. We ordered a Long Island ice tea and it tasted like it didn't have any booze in it. The fries weren't very good .

I hesitate to write a good review because I know this will just make my wait longer to get in! Good beer, good food!

By far the best food and service in Allegan! We frequently eat here and are always pleased!

So, we came on a Saturday evening at around 6pm and waited 90- minutes for a table for two. We understand now that you can get in the "virtual" line earlier. We waited about 30-minutes for the meal once ordered. We did order an appetizer, but it did not arrive in time for the main course so we cancelled it. The meal itself was very good.

We recently ate here and were surprisingly happy (for the most part) with the place. The dining room is large with vaulted ceilings and a lot of hard surfaces, so it is very loud. The menu has a good mix of options, without being so large that it's overwhelming. The salad with green goddess dressing and lemon vinaigrette is highly recommended - very fresh and tasty. The bread on the smoked beef sandwich was a sad and pale square that looked unappealing - they could certainly improve that option. Service was good, though at the point we were ready for the check we had to wait a bit. They have a wide selection of beverages for adults, but for the kids it was just fountain drinks. I would have liked to see bottled root beer (if not homemade - many breweries make their own root beer). We were disappointed that the outdoor seating area was closed, but will come back another time and hope that it is open. Overall, a solid place to eat, and a very good restaurant when compared to the others in the area.

The staff at this establishment were absolutely lovely. They took great care of us at our very long stay. The biggest takeaway you will have from this place is that there is a CORNER on the way to the bar. Every time someone wants a beer, in this brewery, you will hear about the CORNER, and on their way back, that's right, CORNER. On a to the back of the restaurant, there was also a DOOR to go with the CORNER, so that was a treat. A CURVED MIRROR to the right of the server station up front would cut down on 50% of the noise in the restaurant. I wouldn't have had time to think about this much, but the kitchen was slammed for dinner, and all told it took about 2 hours for us to complete a meal here. I had excellent company, and the staff really were fantastic, the hard working kitchen was just having trouble keeping up. Totally understandable. Sadly, I must report that the pork chop, while beautifully presented, was dry as can be. The same for the brick chicken. The pool of garlic butter in the mashed potatoes was also quite welcome. The nachos were delicious, the seasonal vegetable AND the mac was boring, but the perch was excellent. Now I bet you're thinking, this sounds like a negative review, why is it three stars? Because it wasn't a bad experience by any means and I'm pretty sure that this place is going to nail it sooner or later. Keep at it and we'll try this again some other time.

This is the new restaurant here in Allegan. They are currently only open for lunch, 11-3, and drinks/appetizers 3-9. We've heard they will be starting dinner service later this month. My husband went last week for appetizers. He and a buddy had steak bits, french onion soup and brussel sprouts. They enjoyed everything. So we headed there today for lunch. Our group had the cuban sandwich, blue cheese bacon burger, brussel sprouts appetizer and pork nacho appetizers. First up, the cuban sandwich was very good. The pork was tender and juicy. The group consensus was we would get this again. The brussel sprouts were good as well, but something we may get occasionally. Hubby had the blue cheese bacon burger. It was not warm, as it sat waiting for the rest of our order. They initially forgot the blue cheese and brought that after. Normally the blue cheese is chunked blue cheese, but they brought him blue cheese dressing. That doesn't really work for burger. Burger was very juicy and bacon was great. We'd skip the blue cheese dressing for the burger in the future. Now onto the pork nacho appetizer. Several folks had been there this week and all raved about the nachos, so it was my choice today. I ordered it with the sour cream and the jalapenos on the side. The waitress caught the cooks mistake before she brought them to the table loaded with sour cream and had them remake them. Once they arrived, I took my first bite and was surprised by the spiciness of the pork. It was too spicy to even eat. Once I was able to talk with the waitress, she indicated that the pico sauce also has jalapenos. But this spice was not from the jalapenos. The pork was very tender, just way too spicy for me. So if you like spicy, go for it, if not make another choice. I know that the first weeks of a new restaurant are trying and kinks get worked out. I think they are doing the right thing by working out any kinks before the start doing dinner service. Now about the service. Our server was very nice, but was missing at times. We had another waitress track her down to get the blue cheese for our burger. We also saw food sitting for delivery for a bit of time, before it left for the table. We were also surprised that the manager/cook weren't at all interested in why we sent the nachos back. When we have had this type of thing in the past, they have always come to the table to ask what was wrong or what they could do better. We will go back and give them another try, as I heard the steak bits are delicious.

I'm not much of a beer drinker so maybe I should not review a brewery :-) however it's a really nice place to have an Allegan for a younger crowd especially. The food is above average not great but good in the atmosphere is a lot of fun. Like I said for Allegan it's really nice to have a place like this

This place is great. Great selection of food. Lots of beer choices. You can not beat the beer prices. I tried several types of beers all where fantastic. Great atmosphere. Give it a shot and see how you like it.
