Wow, what an amazing selection in such a small place. Looks are deceiving but don't leave out the NY Mets branded beverages when the former Nats players are there.

Google
Great Liquor Store! My "Go To" store of choice when in the DC area. Great selection of ANYTHING you want. If they don't have it on a shelf out front, they likely have it in the basement or can find if for you. Cross shopped with the ABC store for the routine standards and prices were equal or lower. Two Examples: 1. Edradour - good luck finding it in the US. They have it. Example 2. Willet Offerings. Good luck finding Johnny Drum, Kentucky Spirit, or Old Bardstown BIB outside Kentucky. Snyder's has both and much more. So glad I am back in the DC area permanently, and don't have to travel to Scotland or Ireland to keep my standbys stocked.

Claire & Kingsley

Google
Great selection and even better staff. Pick anyone, and they're extremely knowledgeable on products. Richard B recommended to me a deliciously excellent Edradour 11 year old aged in a single oloroso sherry cask. Andrew recommended to me Edradour's younger 10 year old spirit (9 months after the previous Edradour purchase) aged all its years in a single madeira cask, which was nothing short of tremendous on first pour. In my honest opinion, Scheiders is the best liquor store in the district. I price compare and they typically carry the best price, the selection is specialized as well as all encompassing, and most importantly you have staff that know what they're doing. The only issue with the review is that it's capped at 5 stars.

Marcus Peacock

Google
Been going here for decades. They've unfortunately gone from making sound recommendations to increasingly aggressively trying to push inferior inventory they need to move along. Happened too many times to me now. Not sure I can go back. And why did they remodel the place so the exterior looks like a strip joint?

Google
I has been buying from this store for years, in the past I was dealing with Tristan and he always worked out good deals and recommendations, complementary shipping, etc. For the last couple of years, since Tristan left the company, the manager Terry took over and the way he handle things is very erratically. He does NOT have good customer oriented manner. On my second to last order he sold me 2 bottles that were described as White wine, they turned out to be red and one of them a grape I have never bought since I don’t like. He refused to take those bottles back and went further to say he did not want to do more business with me. Then he shipped 3 bottles they had set aside for me and they arrived in a very bad shape, they seemed to have gone through a very high heat, they probably sent me those damaged bottles on purpose. Beware with the bad costumer services and lack of ownership when they get something wrong.

Google
Fantastic wine store. Was visiting from out of town and wanted to grab a bottle to bring to dinner. Selection is diverse and prices are very reasonable for a spot in the city. The service is super friendly and made our experience. We were browsing the Riesling selection and one of store people noticed and offered us try a couple of the bottles they opened from a tasting earlier. Highly recommend.

Scott Zolkowski

Google
My favorite wine store in DC. The staff is always so friendly and knowledgeable. Give them what you like or what you're looking for, along with your price point, and they'll give you a great recommendation. They also have a great selection of spirits.

Scott Edwards

Google
Don't miss a visit to this wonderful spot. Such a selection. We've picked up Blanton's black and Weller 12 as well as lots of other finds. Richard is fabulous, ask for him if you're a scotch or bourbon lover.

John L.

Yelp
Attentive staff. They want to help you not get lost in the vast array of wines. Also, because of their limited store space, much of the selections are way over your head. No problem, they can get them and help you pick out a selection. They know their wines, not in a passive sort of way, but they know the questions to ask and help you get something for that special meal or host gift. They will even ship a case of cork topped bottles to your home state.

Stan H.

Yelp
How dare I walk 31 minutes one way in sweltering heat to go here! I did bring a bottle of water and stopped at a nearby pho place for another drink. Too cheap to take a Lyft. But not too cheap to want to buy pecan rum if they had it lol. They are thinking that pecan is discontinued but since Outer Banks Distillery just renovated their distillery by increasing the size almost a month ago, hopefully they produce more so that more people can have that taste they so desire. The visual vibes I get as a non-DCer, mind you, is that this place is slightly out of the way from the city, but I still feel safe and they even have a free small parking lot. It is one of DC's gems for finding harder to find bottles. I was tempted to say for alcohol snobs but there is no pretentiousness or superficiality here. They truly make alcohol an art form and not just "there." Alcohol being "there" is synonymous to a meme of a chess knight playing piece worried about being asked to walk a straight line by a police officer!

K W.

Yelp
Fantastic selection, especially of whiskey and tequila. Great wine specials. Very nice people!

Phil T.

Yelp
Every time I walk in the door, my mind immediately puts 'Streams of Whiskey' by the Pogues on repeat in my head while I happily wander through sky-high towers of spirits and marvel at the options to imbibe of bourbon, scotch, and beer, where just one would not do for my purposes of fully partaking in that well deserved celebration after climbing the battlements. Schneider's is no mere emporium of booze to grab off a shelf during something one might describe as an errand. Their wares range from the essential to the novel. On my first visit, I bought a ritzy bottle of champagne for a particular celebration, but since then, I've picked up variety of Whistle Pig, Eagle Rare, and other menageries of the falling-down juice worthy of a caper with Bukowski or Hunter S. I am going, I am going, Any which way the wind may be blowing. I am going, I am going, Where streams of whiskey are flowing

Liz C.

Yelp
Great customer service ! I walked in and they made it so easy ! I was looking for champagne and they helped me look for the perfect gift for our CEO.

Marty C.

Yelp
Outstanding people work here. The team answered my questions and found my selections. Everyone is friendly, polite and welcoming. Probably the best spirits store in DC!

Steve A.

Yelp
Andy is very knowledgeable and friendly. They had the specific bourbon I was looking for and had other suggestions on a complimentary bourbon for the gift. A great place.

Mark R.

Yelp
My old neighborhood wine shop and I was delighted to see it's been expanded and grown. Same great selection and service - I was able to pick a few niche items for my bar that I usually have to order and ship (Amari, amoretto, etc). I spent about a week in Washington and speaking to various bartenders I learned that Schneiders is a "go to" for them too. They will also gladly track down something for you as well if they don't have it.

Harvey K.

Yelp
Great selection of wines. Knowledgeable and friendly staff. The pricing is spot on. Can't go wrong with Schneider's.

Edward T.

Yelp
Fantastic service! We called in advance and they offered to double check on their inventory (to make sure we didn't drive 30 minutes for nothing). Once in the store, every single employee (and I mean EVERYBODY) was engaging, helpful, thoughtful, cheerful, and knowledgeable. In terms of inventory, the store probably has the most efficient use of square footage in the DMV. Every nook and cranny was jam packed with options. Bottles stacked 20 feet up. The store should be a Smithsonian exhibit (it certainly is more interesting than most museums). We were able to get a few bottles we've been searching for the last year. It was such an overwhelming positive experience that we will absolutely be coming back again! Kudos to management and the staff for running a superb business!

grace k.

Yelp
They have ALL THE THINGS!!! The staff have a encyclopedic knowledge of fine wines and liquors. It's literally overflowing with great finds, some of which are very hard to find in a neighborhood liquor store. It's floor to ceiling bottles, a bit cramped, but such fun to look around and chat with the staff.

Gary T.

Yelp
Excellent selection in a relatively modest space. I assume the huge list online means some bottles, which are more esoteric, might have to be retrieved by them from off-site storage. Maybe confirm availability in the store before visiting?

Mike W.

Yelp
My wife researched online and ordered a couple of "hard to find" bottles of Italian wines. Not only did Schneider's have them in stock, but they were less expensive (including shipping to CA), by far, than ordering from the winery in Italy, which was offering us a discount. The bottles arrived quickly and very safely packaged to prevent damage. We would definitely use Schneider's again.

Glen W.

Yelp
I lived on Capitol Hill for three years, and every time I visit Washington DC I pop my head in and see what they have for sale. I always find something unique in here that I never find anywhere else when I travel the United States and the world. They've got a great selection, wall-to-wall alcohol and are very helpful. I first tried bourbon county from this liquor store. Great place to buy a gift or a bottle of wine if you're heading over to somebody's house for dinner. You won't be disappointed.

Chad R.

Yelp
I've lived on Capitol Hill for almost 20 years and have never found this place appealing - it's small, has cramped isles, and the wine inventory is odd.

Daniel V.

Yelp
Excellent wine selection and great customer service. I had ordered a vintage bottle of wine and was contacted on a daily basis to inform me of the shipping process.

Gabriel T.

Yelp
I has been buying from this store for years, in the past I was dealing with Tristan and he always worked out good deals and recommendations, complementary shipping, etc. For the last couple of years, since Tristan left the company, the manager Terry Brown took over and the way he handle things is very erratically. He does NOT have good customer oriented manner. On my second to last order he sold me 2 bottles that were described as White wine, they turned out to be red and one of them a grape I have never bought since I don't like. Beware with the bad costumer services and lack of ownership when they get something wrong.

Dona P.

Yelp
Cap Hill institution with a staff who have a breadth of knowledge and varying price points for everything!! They had a $40 bottle of authentic French champagne on sale for $25, they had an amazing deal on Groupon for 6 bottles of wine for $50, every selection was delish, and they even have some parking !!!!

Greg S.

Yelp
WOW, amazing and outstanding customer service, wine knowledge & expertise, a wide array of highly collectable, rare, obscure and esoteric wines from all around the world, at very competitive prices. One of their Wine Managers by the name of Elyse, was extraordinarily helpful, courteous, calm, friendly, and accommodating, on what appeared to be a very busy Saturday afternoon. This just might be my new favorite wine shop in the USA! Highly recommended. A+++++

Rick S.

Yelp
Fantastic Selection, Super helpful staff and fair pricing. Found a few rare gems and provided excellent gifts for friends. There is parking on site and the store is fantastic.

Alex I.

Yelp
If you care about the company that you keep, and you care about how you treat them, then Schneider's could be your friend. If you ask the staff, they will sell you what you need, even if it is complicated or expensive. They only dumb it down a little. If you don't know booze, and you are looking for a deal, don't bother. (Sorry guys)

Marc F.

Yelp
The best staff in the world. Thank you especially Stephanie! So helpful and amazing selection. They will even help you order special hard to find stuff

Hannah C.

Yelp
There are so many things to love about Schneider's. Perhaps more importantly, if you are looking for a particular high-quality wine or liquor, they probably have it. They also regularly beat Total Wine and the other mass retailers price-wise for the same product. Now, the big difference is that Schneider's by and large only stocks Really Good Stuff. So if you're really interested in finding a wine below $7, they will do that, but your selection will be much more limited than at other stores. On the other hand, if you want something great for $15-20, they've totally got you. The staff is super knowledge and available. And the best-kept secret? They regularly do free tastings on Fridays. So swing by after work and check it out!

Jeff W.

Yelp
A couple of friends suggested this place, went in and instantly greeted! Asked for Bourbon and was was quickly directed to the area. Very knowledgeable staff, friendly and had what I wanted! They have such the collection, could have spent an hour talking about Bourbon. Will definitely be back! Picked up Heaven's Door and Weller's Antique 107. So excited they had it! My friends were correct, Schneider' is the place to go! I will be back!

Edward L.

Yelp
Simply put if you need ANYTHING to do with spirits in the DMV, this is your one stop shop. They are extremely knowledgeable and don't always direct you to the most expensive choice. I've always been pleased with the results.

Rob D.

Yelp
This is a gem of a fine wine and liquor store. I was going to be in the area and saw online that this spot had a wine that is impossible to find unless you buy from the winery or one other location in the US. So I took a pit stop detour and stopped by. They have a great selection and the staff is awesome as well. I will return every time I'm down here on business.

Sean C.

Yelp
A nice wine selection and knowledgeable wine help. The beer selection is small -- I think they've never taken beers seriously. Beware of beers that are several weeks past their "best enjoyed by" date. Check. The liquor selection is OK but to me appears focused on large bottles for Capitol Hill parties and not so much on the smaller bottles I want for home use. Once in a while the store seems understaffed and certain of the help seems occupied with multitasking -- people in the store, handling deliveries, phone calls, etc. At such times I've found it hard to get help and I'll come back later or go down to a liquor store at 415 H Street NE.

Kelly B.

Yelp
Awesome selection! The friendly staff is always available to help and talk you through recommendations with any price range.

Austin G.

Yelp
Schneider's is the pride and joy of Capitol Hill. It's a small building a stone's throw from Union Station (Well, you'd have to have a really good arm) filled with every type of wine, beer, and liqueurs. The staff are friendly, helpful and know alcohol like no one in the city. If you're looking for more niche alcohol, Schneiders will have it. Despite all of this, they are not pretentious. They offer all types of alcohol ranging from every day, more cheap alcohol to higher end. If you live on the Hill, become a regular here. It's worth it!

Phil S.

Yelp
Great selection! A lot of unusual items, but a little bit disorganized.

Jacques M.

Yelp
Big selection. Prices aren't consistently good for the obscure items. The basic stuff pricing is very fair though. Be careful on any specialty spirits. They can over charge by a lot. Stupid me, a couple years ago after dinner we stopped in while walking home. I had a little buzz on and paid $75 too much for a 18 year old bottle of Talisker. Pissed me off because I knew better. The staff is inconsistent on service sometimes. Most are nice and helpful, others just so so. The management is free to offer discounts so it pays to get to know them, I suppose.

Ayaas B.

Yelp
I went in on a Sat afternoon on the holiday weekend before xmas. it was relatively busy and cozy in terms of environment, which can be overwhelming given the amount of bottles around etc. etc. etc.. I paid the meter for 1 hour, expecting to need to take some time. Despite the, likely higher than usual, volume of customers, one of the staff members identified a lost soul immediately and not only helped me find what i was looking for, but made some great recommendations on new bottles for my palette to try at a better price. all recommendations were delicious... oh which this review is being written as a direct product of... seriously, i got `new bottles of bourbon, tequila in addition to other bar mixers i have never tried: all of them are better than what i wouldve bought, and probably saved 20-25% compared to what i would've spent. I've been looking for a go to liquor store spot since i moved from nyc. Mission accomplished. Outta there in 9 minutes to boot.

Ted C.

Yelp
I can't say enough great things about Schneiders since I've become a customer of them over the years. Their selection, prices and shipping are outstanding, but it's their SERVICE that has been their shining star. The personal service I have always received from them whether from the manager Joe or his friendly staff, are so greatly appreciated. It's very refreshing in this day and age to get this type of service that they provide elsewhere, that make me feel like I truly am a very important customer to them. My thanks go to you Joe and to your staff as well. You certainly have earned my ongoing business, as I recommend for others to see for themselves!

Ruth C.

Yelp
I love that I can browse their inventory online. I've found that their prices are better than most places in DC, with a few exceptions on a bottle or two here and there. Tiny parking lot, but plenty of residential street parking in the area. Staff are friendly and willing to talk shop. Fantastic selection crammed into a tiny space that puts clumsy me at risk of tripping over bottles overstocked onto the floor. The super rare stuff goes lickety split since this store is popular with the anyone who works or lives in the neighborhood.

John A.

Yelp
Love this place... Wish it was bigger Always helpful and friendly staff... I come here and stock up for supplies and gifts and if you don't know something just ask. They are always willing to help

Lorraine W.

Yelp
I normally love this store. However, I recently purchased a case of discounted wine which was advertised as having varying degrees of something wrong with the labels. Let me tell you that was not the only imperfection. So far 5 bottles are undrinkable. And I am a person, who has had only one bottle that's been undrinkable in the 45 years that I've been drinking wine. I will still go there when I need their expert advice but when I want to buy my next case of wine at a discount - I'll try Total Wine.

Rachael M.

Yelp
This place has everything from my fav cucumber vodka from Holland to 12 year scotch and of course melbec. I over heard one of the employees explaining how they host wine and beer tastings also, but missed when. I'll be back for sure.

Mae S.

Yelp
The best and most helpful wine shop on the Hill. I go out of my way to go to Schneider's instead other shops closer to me.

Eric B.

Yelp
Better options elsewhere. They don't honor sale prices offered through apps like Vivino and make up excuses.

Vishal S.

Yelp
Probably one of the best locations in DC to buy a whole range of alcohol at a good price. The staff is very knowledgeable and super friendly. they have a wide variety of beer, wine, and alcohol on sale and that can be a problem sometimes. I generally rely of the experts here to make recommendations and they have mostly been right to suggest something that I will like and within my budget. The only thing against this store is that the aisles are cramped (coz they have so many things stocked). But it's all nice and well organized. Parking too can be a pain if you drive to this place.

Gracie P.

Yelp
Had an above & beyond experience here finding a bottle of whisky for my boyfriend's birthday. Ended up going with an 18-year old Ainneamh that is absolutely stunning. Will definitely come back for any and all needs for spirits. Thanks!

Daniel B.

Yelp
These guys are the absolute best!! Always have what you need and customer service that truly can't be beat. They answered the phone when they were supposed to be closed before hours and still offered to hand deliver my purchase just so I didn't miss out. Earned a life long customer.

Jesse C.

Yelp
Solid beer selection. They really know their stuff. If they don't have what you're looking for they can recommend a solid alternative. Pro Tip: Aisles are narrow and full of glass bottles. Dont bring a 2 year old.

Brian K.

Yelp
Our recent experience with Schneider's was outstanding -- the wines were incredibly good, and when we had a misunderstanding about an order (OUR fault, not theirs), Elyse was super responsive and helpful in straightening it out! Five stars!

Matt M.

Yelp
This place rocks. They have a really great selection of beer, wines and liquor at a good range of prices. They have a lot of local beers and liquors (Green Hat Gin FTW, guys) and overall just an awesome assortment that makes you want to drink everything. I have this weird complex where I still get nervous to go into liquor stores (I'm 24...) and get all awkward and shaky. I'm like Fogel in Superbad. The best part is that the employees are super knowledgeable and ready to help and actually make me feel okay to be in there! They're ready to help with questions and are always willing to make suggestions on new things that they just got or certain favorites in your price range. I'm trying to build out my bar cart like a good millennial so I stop in here every week or two to pick up something cool and new. Also- they have parking which is clutch! Best liquor store in the area IMHO.

J D.

Yelp
This review is primarily about beer, though I have purchased spirits here before. Great selection of spirits, okay selection of beer. Prices on craft beer are higher here than anywhere else in the neighborhood. Staff is sometimes helpful, often times too brusque for my taste.

Farzan K.

Yelp
Winter is upon us and two major trends have been taking America by storm. 1) The Christmas holiday season and 2) Foreclosures. Both can be celebrated amongst your closest friends and loved ones. Here's how: Ways I celebrate Christmas: 1. Share drinks with those you hold dearest and enjoy the spirit of the season. Cheers! 2. Grab pretty women and awkwardly force them under a mistletoe. Hark! 3. Grab pretty women and awkwardly sign a restraining order. Ways I celebrate Foreclosures: 1. Rip up mortgage bills and pretend I never got them. So whether you're cuddling with a loved one by a trashcan fire, or meeting your banker to go over final foreclosure documents, I'd suggest you swing by Schneider's to celebrate your own "holiday" from any more financial obligation. Here are some of my favorite recession-friendly drinks you can purchase exclusively at Schneider's, with some affordable recipes to get you started: Gin 1. Pour into flask. 2. Sip angrily and often. Scotch 1. Unscrew cap. 2. Drink. Bourbon 1. Pull paper bag down to expose top. 2. Drink. 3. Recite your favorite Dr. Dre hymn. Mad Dog 20/20 1. Take off cap. 2. Try not to think about it. 3. Drink. Tequila 1. Steal from store. 2. Drink under bridge. Whiskey 1. Trade sips for uneasy truce with Sewer People under bridge. Rum 1. Drink without breathing. 2. Use broken bottle to defend cardboard sleeping box. Vodka 1. Chug. 2. Use broken bottle to slit Bearded Joe's throat. 3. Don't worry about Sewer People taking your shopping cart again. And don't forget, mix any beverage above with a half empty plastic bottle of juice from the city dump to make a delicious Hobo Sangria. Enjoy, and Happy Holidays!

Nate L.

Yelp
Went in looking for a specific bottle of rum that most places have- they pulled out their last bottle just for me! In addition, Andrew helper me pick out a bottle of port wine and gave a good recommendation on food to match. I'll be back, thanks y'all!

Thomas W.

Yelp
L'Enfant erred when he planned DC. I have no idea, nor can I think of one reasonable justification, why the Legislature is the center of this city and not Schneider's. This place should be at North/South and East/West Capitol Street. This business and its staff should serve as the crisis hotline for our area's depressed. The whole area should suckle its life essence This is the womb that incubated our nation. This is where Normandy was planned, where the cuban missile crises was solved, where Mormon Jesus planted his Mormon bibles, where Cobain wrote In Utero, where Coppola filmed the Godfather, where lesser gods invented cotton candy, where the New Deal was signed, where Michael Jackson was born, and where Aerosmith forged their entire career; all in a building designed by Frank L. Wright. I'm not sure where you've been or where you're going, but if you haven't been here it doesn't matter: you are pointless. Come here and get learn-ed. Come here and save yourself.
