14 Bagel Spots In and Around Montreal (That Aren’t Just Fairmount and St-Viateur) | Eater Montreal

"While they’re not what you’d expect if you’re looking for a thin Montreal-style bagel, Bagel St-Henri’s fluffier take on this doughy treat is nothing to scoff at. Located just a few blocks North of the Lachine Canal, this quaint shop also serves full brunch plates — so it’s a great option for a weekend morning." - Mallory Frayn

This place should be closed down. The owner doesn't know how to maintain the minimum standard of cleanliness. The food is improperly stored with no dates marked on anything. There is grease everywhere. His baking trays are "cleaned" every few months. There's mold in the fridges. The restaurant got multiple warnings over the past few months, resulting in $5500 in fines in January of this year. Plus there are 2 deep fryers located inches behind customers heads with no vent or fire system above. It is cleaner to eat in the 20 foot deep construction hole in the street in front of the resto than inside. The owner will most likely retort with some personal attack against us.. and that's fine. Pictures don't lie. Fines given to this restaurant due to health code violations are public information. And seriously, why deflect from the fact the place is noticeably dirty, address the issues, and work on cleaning up the place so people actually want to eat there.

I don’t write many reviews- only when I think a place is great. I stopped by here while killing time, based on the good reviews. Got the ‘Shebang’ breakfast sandwich and it is really excellent. The Poppy bagel was fantastic, the sausage is homemade and is really, really good. The tastes combined perfectly together and I would absolutely come here again in a second. Awesome!

I recently had the pleasure of visiting this charming German schnitzel breakfast spot, and I must say, it was a delightful experience from start to finish. The owner, who was incredibly kind and easy to talk to, set the perfect tone for a fantastic meal. Firstly, let's talk about the food. Everything on the menu was made in-house, and you could taste the freshness in every bite. The schnitzel was perfectly crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, just as it should be. The homemade sausage was also a favourite, hint of spiciness with lots of flavour. What truly stood out, besides the delicious food, was the warm and welcoming atmosphere created by the owner. His passion for his craft was evident in every aspect of the experience, from the carefully curated menu to the impeccable service. It's not often that you come across such genuine hospitality, and it made the meal even more memorable. I highly recommend this spot to anyone looking for an authentic German breakfast experience. You won't be disappointed!

We had a great lunch, the schnitzel hit the spot and the owner was an absolute pleasure to chat with. From the time we ordered to the time the food was on the table was less than 15 mins and the prices are fair! Definitely worth a stop- even for the fresh pastries! Thank you 😊

I guess we're lucky enough to have you in the neighborhood (Saint-Henri). So many options on the brunch & lunch menu, adding to that you can grab some sweets to take out. The owner is kind, he'll make you enjoy the experience. Good portion & delicious meals.

I've been coming here for years for their absolutely DELICIOUS food, and friendly service. Unique homemade bagels, fluffy English muffins, legit German pretzels and other breads, homemade sausages, German donuts.. hell, there's even homemade hot sauce! It's a hidden neighborhood gem. You can't go wrong with your choices here. It's all tasty. If you enjoy their bagels, ask for a bag of "parbaked" ones to take home. — You finish them at home in your toaster and they come out as if fresh out the oven! (Way better than those industrial stiff bagels you find in the supermarket if you ask me.)
