Twin Cities’ Restaurant and Bar Closures to Know, December 2025 | Eater Twin Cities

"Shutting down its taproom on Sunday, December 28, the brewery cited the overall cost of operating in that location as unsustainable moving forward. Fans can still find its beers at the owners’ winery, Schram Vineyards Waconia." - Jeffy Mai

Wanted to like this brewery, but it failed on every level. The beer was flat (very little carbonation), and tasteless. My wife's seltzer was crazy sweet and undrinkable. $15 on two horrible drinks is a major let down. Our kids had very little to do in the gravel pits of Schram Haus. This place is forgettable, and not worth your time.

Schram Haus Brewery in Chaska is worth a stop. It is a big open industrial design with woods, metals, brick and high ceilings. Staff is friendly, music is good, they serve pizza and snacks and served 13 of their beers on tap for my stop. Beers included an IPA, DNEIPA, Fruited IPA, Cold IPA, Blonde, American Red, barrel aged sour, fruited sour, fruited hazy IPA, Dark lager, lager, pilsner, and a hefeweizen. They also have seltzers and sodas for non beer people. The taphouse has large garage doors that open for a nice view when the weather is nice. They have nightly specials, trivia nights, and bag league. Check it out.

First time I ever visited Schram. Super great, relaxed vibe! Sitting high over the river, the brewery looks like it was a large automotive workshop. We enjoyed the live music playing in the enormous outdoor patio, and the beer was fantastic too. There was a food truck when we were there, though kinda expensive. My buddy and I were out for a road trip, and this was a stop. Fun!

Google
The view definitely gets a 10/10-- it's set up on a hill and gets a fantastic panoramic of the nearby town. There's plenty of seating everywhere and a lot of airflow, which is nice, but when we were there they had a bit of a wasp problem. In terms of beer, from the flight we got we have concluded that their strength is more in lighter brews rather than dark, as the pineapple mango sour was juicy and delicious and their marzen was pretty solid, but their dark lager was disappointing and the Irish stout was unfinishable.

My wife and I stopped by after searching for a pet friendly brewery. The business was clean, and the service was excellent. We had a half Pretzel and the special which is a pizza with two beer. The pizza was good, the Pretzel was great and the beer was delicious.

Google
Checked this place out for a group of 20 of us and felt like we uncovered a seldom talked about gem. The hard seltzers were delicious and so cool how they prepare them like cocktails and in front of you. Honestly the best pretzel I've had (the dipping sauces of white cheese, caramel and mustard were delicious) and the pizza was great too. Really good space with some fun games. We are already talking amongst my friend group of coming back.

Schram is always a good time! Good beer, friendly staff, always a new food truck, live music, pet friendly, fun events… the list goes on and on! Love that such a great brewery is in our little town.

Great to see the turn out for Goat Fest 2025. It was too busy and super long wait times in line to get a beer. Parking in the side ditch on Hwy 61/Chaska Blvd and the long walk up the hill was not ideal but it was because so many came out for this event so all is well, we have fun. Can't review the beers as the line was so long, never got one after paying the $15 admission. May try it again on a different day.

Yelp
We came to Schram Haus Brewery for the first time during their annual goat fest and it was such a fun experience! They have some great German beers on their menu as well as hard seltzers and non alcoholic options, so you can truly find something for anyone! Beyond just the great drink selection, they have some amazing bites to eat! We ordered the Bavarian pretzel and it is by far the best Bavarian pretzel I've had in MN. The mustard, cheese, and chocolate dip were so indulgent and absolutely hit the spot. Despite being there on a very busy day with lines out the door to order drinks and food, the service was fast and the staff was so kind. This truly is the perfect spot to grab some great drinks and enjoy chill vibes with family and friends. I can't wait to come back and spend some summer nights on the outdoor patio!

Yelp
The beers all had a really good flavor. We went up for goat fest which was a little disappointing. There was a $10/adult $5/kid cover. The goat area was cramped. The event area felt segmented, the music was hard to hear by the goats. The lines for beer were really long. The space normally is really large and usually has a good amount of seating and parking. Staff was friendly during the event and were able to answer questions. They had plenty of bathrooms which was a plus.

Yelp
Popped into Schram's on a cold blustery Tuesday with some friends. Our friends ordered flights of 4 different beers, while my wife and I took advantage of the BOGO free offer on all pints before 6:00p. Beers were tasty. We also enjoyed the giant soft pretzel. We selected coarse grain mustard and cheese sauce for our dips from a lengthy list of dip options. Our most excellent server noticed we hit the cheese sauce hard and offered to bring us more complimentary. To our surprise, Schram's offers free trivia on Tuesday night. We played and took 4th place, which was just out of the money (gift card). We'll be back to try our luck again in trivia, and to enjoy good beer, tasty food, and great service.

Yelp
The beer beer was meh and not very cold. Service was just ok. Probably not going back.

Yelp
A top of a hill in Chaska lies this big open brewery. With live music and delicious beers on tap there really isn't anything to dislike. I have tried there chocolate cherry stout which was only about a 5 to 6% ABV. Super tasty and a great sipping beer. I also tried the Toasty, Roasted and Malty beer called the Dopplebock. It boasts an 8% ABV and it is so smooth, light and flavorful. Usually I anticipate a beer with that description to be rich and creamy like and Dopplebock is the opposite. It gives me.. all season beer! Staff is kind and there is plenty of seating. Plus there is a constant food truck with some good bites such as Bavarian pretzels and pizza. Excited to experience this in the late summer evenings!

Yelp
Terrible driveway, average beers. Vibe of the place was okay though and the guy working was nice. We were just passing through and MN has so many incredible breweries but unfortunately this just was not one of them. Members only beers? Good way to make your regulars feel better about an impractical membership but a little to elitist for our taste. Pass.

Yelp
Great selection of beers. The flight is such a good way to try everything. Good food/snacks to pair with as well.

Yelp
This is a southwest metro gem! Schram Haus has become one of my favorite breweries in the state after moving to the area. They have great beers, and a fantastic seltzer (they muddle fresh fruit instead of using syrup!). Also, the pretzel here is TO DIE FOR! You can get it with cheese, mustard, or you can go the sweet route and get chocolate and caramel (I believe, I always get savory). They have a decent size indoor space and a HUGE outdoor space with two patios. One overlooks Chaska as this brewery is situated on top of a big hill!

Yelp
Doppelbock. Good malt depth with caramel character without being cloyingly sweet. Great brewery in Chaska, Minnesota.

Yelp
Had a couple Schram bees yesterday. Using my GPS I passed the Schram billboard, made the next right where it told me to. I'm not sure if it was someones home or Schram offices but that was not the brewery!! When you see the billboard, make the turn there!! As it was raining yesterday I was grateful for the parking lot that was close to the door. With the rain I hadn't noticed on my walk up but once I entered the spacious and bright tap room I noticed it was walled w garage doors...wonderful! I appreciated that they offered standard height tables and loved that the bar along the garage doors was lower height with lower height bar stools! I opted for a Nacht Nacht and Passionfrut sour. The sour was appropriately tart enough for my palate, quite enjoyable. Schram is a cute little tap room and it just doesn't look like you're out of the city, it has the charm to give you that comfy and relaxing feel. Thanks Schram!

Yelp
Been here a bunch of times as I don't live too far away. Usually go when they have music. The good: Music is usually good, as far as tap room entertainment goes. Lots of single acoustic acts. Always like Matt MacAlister and Brian Lofgren/ plus others of similar ilk. The food trucks are generally good but never one that knocks your socks off. Beer is always cold, service above average and quality mid road. The less than good: Beer is maybe a buck more than comparable tap rooms and not that impressive. The pizza (not food truck ) is average at best. Heggie's and comparable frozen overall better. The ugly: Worst parking lot in Carver county - in the top 5 worst in Minnesota. Not only could you lose a small car in a pothole, the lighting is horrible. Not a safe place. Fix it - you look like you must be short on cash. If you own the property, shame on you. If you lease - do something. I cannot possibly be the first to point out that this is truly a bad reflection on your business. Tonight I planned to stop on my way home from golf to have a beer, listen to a few songs, and take home a pizza from the food truck that they advertised. I checked their website and their facebook page. All looked good. Got there and didn't see a food truck. Went in to ask and they said that it "didn't show," I asked why if that happened they didn't at least post that to their facebook page or website. She said that it was too late to post! Too late for what? I checked it to make sure all was good before I went out of my way to do what I described above. At 4:00 pm they knew that they didn't have a food truck. At 6:30 I was there and told no truck. Disappointed- yes. Just let people know before they commit to stuff. Is that too hard? Not the first time for a food truck cancellation or no show, and the same for music. If I had driven a ways only to find that there was no music, I'd be pissed. I only went 20 minutes out of my way to find no music this summer. I would have gone somewhere else. I like the fact that the music starts early, but when you walk in and no one is there it's wrong. Post it if things change. Please - I know things happen. Trucks and musicians can be a problem. So much that you know you should post and let people know. That's the least you can do. Preempt my disappointment please. I cannot recommend, and not sure when or if I'll be back.

Yelp
My wife and I had a Friday off, so we took a 20 minute drive down to Schram House. They have plenty of seating outside if you want. I ordered an IPA and the Reuben Rolls, which were really good, but they were pretty light on the corned beef. the dough was very good around them though. The thousand island dipping sauce is amazing, because it has a little perfect kick to it. I had one last beer and the service was great! Totally give it a try!

Yelp
Went to this brewery on a date one night and it was good. There was no wait and easy to get in. However we did have to ask to have the tables cleaned as none of them were wiped down. The staff was friendly and helpful. The beer itself was good but nothing I would go out of my way to go to. Just reliable brews but nothing that was a wow factor.

Yelp
This place has a lot of potential. Great location on a bluff overlooking the Minnesota river valley. There is a patio where you can sit and enjoy the view. The patio is just a few tables roped off from the parking lot, so I expect that it is a work in progress. The taproom is spacious with lots of tables. Also, seating at the bar. Service is very friendly and fast. We ordered a sampler, if you order four samples, you get a fifth one free. They come on a platter very efficiently labeled. We liked a couple of the beers but a few were just off tasting (to us anyways). Definitely liked their cream ale and their flagship "Cane Fighter" IPA. The IPA has an 86 IBU rating so really hoppy and good if you are a hops fan. The website says 134 IBUs but I don't think that is possible. It looks like they are having some Octoberfest activities in the Fall. We will definitely check back here to try some more beers and enjoy the spectacular view from the patio.

Yelp
Great, modern little place! We swung by for a few drinks after a cold day at the orchard. They have plenty of big TVs for football watching and very friendly staff. We saw quite a few people with food, but I can't speak to the qualify. I'll stop by again when I'm in the area.

Yelp
I like this place. A lot! It is a bit of a hike, to get there for me, but it is worth the journey. I have been here about six times thus far, and as long as they are offering the option of drinking outside I will keep coming. The beer here is well made, and they have something for everybody. You want dark and roasty? Malty? Hoppy? Sour? It's all here. They even have hard seltzers for you if that's your gig. Schram also has a number of different food trucks showing up to provide sustenance to go along with your barley pops. Certainly, worth the drive to hang out here. the outside drinking area offers a nice vista of the MN river valley.

Yelp
Aaron and Ashley Schram are living the American dream...and the fruits of their risks and labor are to our benefit! What started as a pipe-dream winery with Northern-grape varietals has undeniably become a top vineyard and event destination in the Twin Cities. As a further offshoot, Aaron's top-notch "garage brewing" in the production grounds of their winery near Waconia has matured into a full-fledged brewery and entertainment spot that rivals the well-funded curling facility in downtown Chaska just minutes away...but with a bunch more family fun! While the eats (a chewy pretzel with multiple dipping sauces, and a corned beef and sauerkraut roll-up) were a bit pricey, the beers were true-to-form, and the space is always warm and inviting...pandemic and Gov't-mandated spacing aside!? A warm fire outside awaits, or an airy and laid-back/'chill' atmosphere indoors...be sure to make a stop at Schram Haus to get a true taste of what makes the Minnesota River communities and their legacy breweries special!

Yelp
Great place inside and out. We love that our dog can hang out with us outside and there is lots of seating. Beers are great, friendly staff and a nice view.

Yelp
Beautiful setting with views over the Minnesota River valley - and the beers were great too! They had a food truck when we visited, but also have a limited menu that they offer - with classics that go well with beer. Very popular spot on a nice day out, but they have done a great job creating space to allow people to socially distance. The outdoor space is especially nice with a good amount seating. We had the porter - nice fullness without overpoweringly dense. Definitely on our list of places to go for great beer, wonderful views, and a snack or too.

Sammi J.

Yelp
Cute spot located on the hill over looking Chaska, can't beat the views. Beers were good, great variety to choose from. Only giving 4 because they don't serve their food when they have food trucks. Such a bummer, a few times we gone couldn't have the food from the food truck so we had a beer and left rather than hung out with something to snack on too.

Yelp
Schram Haus was a great stop Sunday afternoon to watch the game & an easy gathering spot with friends! We enjoyed their brews, but sad when the IPA ran out - but the staff was great to suggest different beers for the guys & help find new ones that were just as good. We enjoyed their board game selection & comfortable indoor space on such a gloomy day. Also, try their root beer! It's got the best flavor!

Robert N.

Yelp
If you show up at 8:45 following a Chaska HS victory on a Wednesday night, forget about having a quick one (ie, they close at 9:00), they will not serve you!

Lauren S.

Yelp
Good spot, great view/beers/staff! . . . . . Yelp makes you write more so here we are.

Yelp
Love this place. Laid back and friendly. Great dark beers. Usually have food trucks. Highly recommend.
