Schwartz's Delicatessen

Really GOOD deli sandwiches. We tried the #1 Corned Beef and #3 Pastrami. The bread was fresh and sandwiches come with a pickle slice. 😋 there are three tables to eat at outside. Michael Schwartz greeted us, as soon as we entered.

I was driving through town when I spotted a sign claiming “the best corned beef in town.” I was hungry, so I stopped in, and I’m glad I did. I ordered the first thing on the menu, Mikey’s Corned Beef Special, and it turned out to be the best sandwich I’ve had in my entire life. I’m from Madison, WI, and I was only in the area briefly for work, but I’m already planning a return trip after the holidays just for that sandwich. I even bought a cooler so I can bring my wife one in the meantime. Absolutely incredible. Highly recommend!

Stopped here on my lunch break during work. Never had cornned beef before. I am a foodie and love food. I was greeted immediately when walking in. Service was quick. Prices are reasonable for what you're paying for. For a person that's never had corned beef before; that's a dam good sandwich. (Ordered the number #1) Very satisfying. Honestly, if I didn't live so far because I travel for work. I'd definitely come back for seconds. Big thumbs up to this hole in the wall spot.

I absolutely love this place. This is a true deli sandwich shop. I've been to a lot of deli shops over my 53 years. I used to love this one at Eastern Michigan University when I was going to school there. This place is one of the best for sure.

I ordered a meat and cheese tray for a party. It was delicious! Everyone loved it and there was plenty for guests to take home leftovers. Great service, pricing and food.

I've always wanted to try this place. I had a dentist appointment but was a little earlier than I thought it was. So I finally got to try it!!! Got the #4 and my friend got #1. Was simple and delicious. The meat was stacked high. I like the decor and the feel. My friend seemed to like the sports photos. Overall very cool.

This is our 'go to' deli for corned beef and pastrami sandwiches. Excellent quality and very generous portions of meat. Friendly owners who obviously take pride in what they do.

Tastiest grilled Rueben sandwich I've had in a long while. Their corned beef is delicious! They offer a very large selection of sandwiches, hot & cold, with the meats piled high. They also offer fresh made salads and soups, Michigan made chips and soft drinks. A great place to stop in for a tasty, filling sandwich made and served up by the friendliest owners.

This was a business I would patronize regularly for for their tasty pastrami and corned beef sandwiches but alas, all good things must come to an end. The owner is usually there making sandwiches but today I got "the kids". I'm sure they meant well but they dropped the ball with the sandwich action. What is normally a sandwich a grown man could barely finish is now half the size and ridiculously packaged with paper and a rubber band. No more take out boxes and the 15 dollar sandwich might be worth 7. Goodbye Schwartz's Deli. It was good while it lasted.

Amazing sandwiches and the friendliest staff! Each sandwich is made to order and you can tell that they care about their product. Very sizable and filling sandwiches with lots of flavor

Solid. It's a high volume joint. The sandwich was cooked to perfection. Pricey, but you get what you pay for considering the cost of quality corned beef these days. They guided me and explained the order placement process which made it a faster experience. The sauce was a little lite but I ordered an extra side which was perfect for dipping. If in downtown Ann Arbor, give it a rip.

Food was okay, bread was super fresh. The corned beef just wasn't where it needed to be. The woman making the sandwiches had no gloves on. I think when your preparing food and making food for the public you should have gloves on

It's been a long time since I've been to Schwartz delicatessen I went there last when they were still at the old location. I grew up in the east and had the opportunity to try some of the best delicatessens in New York City and throughout New England. Schwartz is as good as any place in the east. I'll be back to visit them soon and look forward to enjoying it. Delicious pastrami sandwich on rye.

Nice family owned deli/sandwich shop. placed an order for pickup and it was ready as promised. A corned beef on rye, a pastrami also on rye and a turkey/ham club on toasted white. all stacked high, very fresh and tasty. they each came with a spear of dill pickle. easy parking in a strip mall off Milford Road. Now that I found Schwartz's , I will be back to try some other selections off their huge menu.

OMG! We were visiting our daughter and her family in Whitmore Lake and I was hungry for a good deli, but didn't want the local ones close by because frankly, they are good, but expensive also. So, using my Yelp app I went looking and came upon Schwartz's Delicatessen and I am so glad that I drove the 25 minutes there and back, because it was almost as good as our old favorite in California called Brent's Deli! I ordered the pastrami sandwich, number 4, and it was piled so high that I had to stretch my jaw open to eat it! The pastrami was tender and so flavorful that it didn't needed anything else except for their delicious rye bread! My wife ordered the number 13, "Junior's Turkey Special" and she to literally take some meat off and save it for another meal because it was also piled so high! It's a small, what I like to call mom & pop deli, which surprised the heck out of me when I drove up and found it! I will definitely return to Schwartz's again on our next trip to visit our grandkids! Maybe next time I won't gobble it down before I take some pictures!!

The Reuben's here are amazing! We love stopping in here when we are in the area. Location is always clean and the food always taste fresh and is loaded up with meat!

First time here. Ordered the #1 and was thoroughly impressed. Amazing corned beef, rye bread and coleslaw. Not a lot of options for food in this area and this place is a gold mine. Highly recommend!

What an incredible deli!!! I mean like this place is so close to New York I swear the co-owner even talks with a New York accent!!! LOL-but the best thing, they make a MEAN deli sandwich. The meat is stacked high-No way could you get your mouth wrapped around it to take a bite out of it..... my method was to deconstruct the sandwich a little bit. We tried Mikey's Corned Beef Special which is mile high corned beef, piled onto lightly grilled rye bread add fresh coleslaw and Swiss cheese and then schmear it with a delicious Russian Dressing. We also tried an all time favorite - #31 Matt's Reuben with Hot Corned Beef on Grilled Rye with Melted Swiss Cheese, Russian Dressing and Sauerkraut hot Ruben with corn beef, sauerkraut and cheese both lightly grilled on some delicious rye bread. One of my dining partners ordered the Forman's Option which consisted of Homemade Chicken Salad on Rye with Bacon, Lettuce, Tomato, American Cheese and Mayo. The above sandwiches also took a lot of creativity to arrange your mouth to be able to get a bite containing everything!! However it was more than worth the trouble!!! They have tasty fresh old and new dill pickles. They come with each sandwich. You can also add the chips and drink combo for a very reasonable $2.00. Speaking of reasonable, there is a famous delicatessen in Ann Arbor that charges about three times what Schwartz's delicatessen sandwiches cost and frankly they were just as good. It's no wonder this is the number one deli in the area. It's a very casual ambience however as you will see in the pictures they put fresh flowers on every table, it's little touches like this that make a family owned and operated business very enticing. All of the staff at this establishment are very customer service focused! They are friendly and helpful too. I am so glad that I found this spot. It's well worth the drive, and I will be a forever fan. Can't wait to return!

The BEST corned beef-pastrami sandwich ever in our area! Friendly owners , Just GO there if you're craving a nice BIG sandwich! Matzo ball soup is great if they have any when you get there!

Thus place is the very best deli around. Every time it's a perfect sandwich with the best double baked bread and the most flavorful pastrami. EPIC! Worth the trip!

Schwartz's deli is an amazing experience! The owner Michael Schwartz takes pride in his sandwiches , the customer experience and in supporting his community. (Everything is made in Michigan.) From the very first bite I fell in love. I have had nearly every sandwich on the menu and each one is delightful and full of flavor. The fresh bread has just the right texture, steamed savory meats piled high, and just the right amount of sauce. Stop in for friendly conversation and an epic sandwich experience, you won't be disappointed!!

Excellent sandwiches no matter what you get!! I get it it that you may have personal favorites for meats or vegetables but once you hit those right, you can never go wrong with this place. :)

Was so hungry for corned beef sandwich at 2pm on a Saturday. However, despite the hours saying 10-4, they were closed with no sign on the door. Very disappointed. Their loss was the restaurant across the road's gain.

I went there a couple days ago and I absolutely love it I grew up going there from the time they opened till now I love her roast corn beef sandwiches and the Reuben sandwiches. The lady was so sweet and saw my little girl didn't like her grilled cheese and gave us two plain pieces of cheese for her to eat and then gave her a sucker as well

Very disappointed !!!! Not with the food but with the fact that they don't stick to their business hours. Several times now I have wanted to stop there or even call a head to order food and found that it was closed. Online hours say they are open but not the case. I will say I love the food. But what the difference does that make if you are not going to stick to your schedule. Very disappointing business ethics...

I'm from Jersey and their pastrami on rye rivals the deli's in NYC. It melts in your mouth. If you are from the area get in here. They are great people with an outstanding g product! Eat locally!!

Corn beef & coleslaw on rye was delish. Hubby had the grilled corn beef and kraut & loved it. If looking for freshly made to order sandwich with all the fixing options, and option to have it grilled..this is the spot. Meat was piled high on sandwich, and tasted freshly cooked, not dried out. No one who worked for them wore masks. My husband's carry out sandwich was good. I ordered tuna salad and got chicken salad....for the 2nd time in 4 weeks. Combined with the fact that the owner's don't mask, we won't be returning.

It says "Best Corned Beef in Town" on the exterior, that is not a fabrication and boy does it deliver. Diverse selection on the menu. The sandwiches are big and come with a deli pickle. They also serve Michigan products, Better Made Chips and Faygo Pop. Did I mention that they are the nicest people. Their quick to get you order ready and get you on your way or you can relax in the dinning area. They always take care of us first responders as well. I can't get enough of Schwartz's Deli.

My son and I shared a corned beef Reuben and he loved it and as did I. It was big enough for us to share and with some leftover.

I came here for lunch four times in eight days. I had a job close by and it quickly became my default lunch stop. I love reubens and theirs was excellent. At first I was overwhelmed by their huge menu, but every time I came here, I just got the same thing - #31 reuben. I'd say maybe don't bother with anything else. Not because I tried anything else but because the reub is so good. The sandwich is huge, piled with layers and layers of corned beef. I usually get my sandwiches on white, but the rye here wasn't too rye-ish, and I could barely tell that it was. It was moist and chewy and buttered just enough for a little crisp on the outside, with a harder crust that made it easy to hold. My only complaint would be that I wish they melted the cheese more, but honestly didn't take away that much from it. The people who worked here were the same two people every time and they were both super friendly and helpful, and didn't seem to mind when people had annoying complicated orders. I love this place and wish I lived closer. Maybe I'll be back again next year!

Big sandwiches, friendly staff, cozy environment. Cannot say enough about Schwartz's. Highly recommend the corned beef sandwich, turkey sandwich, or the Rueben. Absolutely the best sandwiches in town.

OMG are you kidding me with this!!!! Unreal, just top notch. I had this placed bookmarked for a while, and finally got to come in. Boy did I regret waiting so long. Had the #3 Pastrami, slaw, russian, swiss, on rye. I subbed in a Onion Roll, and asked for it grilled. Extra russian on the side. One bite, and I stood up and ordered another to go. The slaw was crisp, not too creamy and not to tangy. His russian dressing is addictive, and thick. Loved the old and new dill, quality. Homemade chicken noodle soup was perfection. Chunks of shredded tender chicken that was clearly made with care. Well balance broth, not overly salty. First time in a long time I did a sandwich / soup combo as it's not usually my thing and I was so happy. I also got a #1 to go, which is corned beef, slaw, russian, on rye. I'm usually a Pastrami guy all day, I love it and it's great here, but the corned beef was even better. The corned beef flavor lingered in the back of your mouth even after the falvor of swiss, slaw, and russian faded away. I've had Sy Ginsberg's corned beef before, but never in sandwich form. Mother of god. For those not in the know Sy Ginsberg's corned beef is from United Meat and Deli out of Detroit, it is ridiculously good. Schwartz's is all Detroit / Michigan, serving up Faygo products, better made potato chips, Detroit meats, and bread from Southfield's BakeStation. Here's a clip from their website "Schwartz's Delicatessen was formed 6 yrs ago when Michael Schwartz learned from leading Deli man and uncle of the world famous Bread Baskets, Ron Foreman. He taught him every everything, from cooking our famous mouth watering Corned Beef by Sy Ginsberg to hand slicing every loaf of fresh out of the oven double baked Jewish Rye. It truly is the best tasting corn beef! We just had our first Schwartz Deli corn beef Dinty Moore and it is hands down TASTY!!! Try this place, you are in for a delectable treat. Schwartz-see you next Saturday!

Friendliest place to get a bite - I seriously love just walking in the door. Always greeted cheerfully with a wave and a smile. An honest-to-goodness deli, sandwiches piled so high you know you're gonna need a fork. Great place, they were very friendly. The portions are large with good quality. I ordered the Brad Best, which is corn beef, pastrami and slaw, very tasty. Nice stop if your heading on M-59.
