I don't usually give 4 stars. I loved the idea of it. Loved the activities and the lay out of them the activities aren't maintained like they need to be. There were so many things my family and I couldn't do, because they were broken. Some activities were operable but almost broken. We need to see more invested into this for our youth. My kids absolutely loved this place. They obviously didn't see things the way I did, they just moved on. All and all, I would absolutely go again!

Google
The kids had a blast and mom & dad stayed entertained during our three plus hour visit. Of particular interest was the multi-story play area, make-believe dress up areas and kids grocery/kitchen/bank teller area. They also really enjoyed the science hands-on area and steering the sail boat. The particular video we watched at the planetarium was definitely oriented towards adults. Our kids lost interest in five minutes. Perhaps other options are more kids friendly. Age level recommendations in the description of the movie would be advised.

There's a Children's Pop Museum that is included with general admission to sci port. In the pop museum, there are many interactive activities and rooms for toddlers and small children. Some include a fashion show runway room with costumes for kids to try on, a diner (with pretend food, kitchen, and tables), a dentist office for kids to play pretend on patients, and a veterinarian clinic with real animals. This was awesome to do on a rainy day!

Google
Me and my kids enjoyed it here. Compared to other science centers, the exhibitions here are quite good, interactive, intriguing, has the right kind that we love, not really abundant but enough to be entertained for a few hours. Another upside is that it's not crowded at all, weird but it works in our favor. We thought it should be more crowded as this is a good museum.

We've been here multiple times over the past 10 years, in recent years though we've trip to make the trip with our boys and for some reason something is going on with it where we're not able to take them. They're closed or closed early due to some reason... the last time in june/july they closed early due to the ac stopped working. Fast forward to now, we finally got to take them and we're quite disappointed. The price was fair 10$ per person. Exhibits were shut down from flood damages or something?... The snack and gift shop closed as always (though can't remember a time when they were actually open) They added a game area downstairs for borad games. Upstairs, many of the exhibits were broke not working and the toddler area was really run down with missing toys/ parts to the other areas. Basically the kids only participated in the shopping area, water activity, anything building related and playground. They lost interest in most everything else and were bored the 2 painful hrs we stayed.

Google
So awesome! The staff was very welcoming and they were excited to help entertain my 2 year old. The exhibits were very interesting. We particularly loved the kids area upstairs (I can't remember the name of the exhibit) and could have spent the whole day there!

Google
If you're in the city of Shreveport and you're looking for something cool and entertaining for the young ones to do. Look no further this is the place that you need to go. This is for kids that are curious and just like to have fun. We took our daughter here while it was raining. It's worth checkout in cases of inclement weather.

Google
Great place to bring the kids for several hours. A tiny expensive to pay each time but the yearly family pass pays itself off in a few visits. Honestly not sure why it isn't more busy, I have been weekends and weekdays and it's never over crowded.

Yelp
Went with family to see Moana II on the IMAX. The seats were comfortable except the view took some getting used to. We sat at the very back and people in the front would have had to lean back to see the planetarium screen view. My seat did not lean back, not sure if ones at front did. Overall the experience was pleasant and my niece and nephews enjoyed it. Ps I do not recommend the pizza at all and the popcorn does not come buttered. Interestingly, the concession offers keureg coffee pod when u order coffee and you make it yourself.

Yelp
First and foremost BRING A JACKET!!!! It is so flipping cold in this place! We were only there for 3 hours and I was shivering the whole time. Secondly, a lot of the older cool science things needed some tlc. Like the pull yourself up clearly need some love and wd40 and the spin the tire and sit on a stool wasn't working. So it seemed like several of the older science experiments we wanted to show our kids just kept being a bust. However; they still have a lot of fun stuff to do here and if you're under 8 they have the great little village play thing on the second floor! But they could clean those toys in there a little better, my hands felt gross touching all the toys my kids brought me.. Overall it's still a great place! Just turn up the AC a tad and give the place a little more care!

Yelp
My husband & I haven't been to SciPort since we went on a school field trip 15 years ago, and we were excited to bring our kids (5 and 3). The kids absolutely loved it & really enjoyed every aspect of SciPort. My husband & I were a little disappointed to see that so many of the attractions were broken or not functioning properly, and that a lot of the attractions they had years ago have been removed to cater to younger children. Overall, we really enjoyed it & the kids had a great time; we just wish there would have been more of the attractions that were there before, which made it fun for older kids as well.

Yelp
I went with my family and I think Sci port has great potential. The exhibits are cool but so many of the labs/displays and exhibits are broken, damaged, inoperable or just left adrift in the massive space. Some of them are just not self explanatory and without intervention from an employee guests just don't know what's going on. The problem we ran into is that we went during the same time that school programs and day cares were visiting and Sci port only catered directly to these groups while they were onsite. They were given red carpet treatment and had some great presentations but we were unable to attend because seating was only for them and the presenters went away as soon as the groups left. Would come back again if changes were made and updates were put in place.

Yelp
This was a pretty cool spot to pass the time while we were visiting the city. I think it's more fun for kids than adults. There's a small planetarium, however the main projector was not working while we were there. The operator of the projector was very nice though. He put on a Sesame Street show on a square projector for the kids, which was nice of him, however the show was so boring that everyone left before it was over. The IMAX show/theatre was the coolest thing there, in my opinion. There are a few displays and interactive things there that kids may like. Overall, it's an ok place to visit for something to do that's family friendly...mostly to entertain the kiddos.

Yelp
We visited this place as we were in town for an event. This place is more for little kids then a real science museum. However we did enjoy the 3D movies of the solar system and puppies. In my opinion it was a bit expensive for what they had to offer, but if you are in town and have infants then this maybe a spot you wanna take them.

Yelp
Great science museum. Fun for all ages. We spent several hours here. Definitely worth the $10 admission.

Yelp
This is a decent educational spot. It's affordable and good for young minds! I enjoyed this place and will be back.

Yelp
Awesome Hands-on Exhibits! We took our two (2 & 4 year-old) grands here today, while on a visit from out of town. We and the kids loved it! There was so much for them to see and do, that the time just flew by! We are from Chicago, and have been going to and enjoying the Museum of Science and Industry all of our lives, but I feel this one is better and more accessible for kids their ages. If we ever come back to Shreveport, this will be a repeat visit!

Rhonda M.

Yelp
Some new exhibits, but a lot of the same old ones that don't work well. I miss the Sand and Water Table. We used to spend 30 minutes playing with that and experimenting with currents. The pendulum doesn't seem to be calibrated right. Went off at a random time. The paper airplane section really needs some work. Upstairs is PoP, which is the children section. It's great. Kids have lots of fun, and this might possibly be the best part of this place. I wish the rest of Sci-Port received this much care. Overall, fun experience. We will come back, but the price is too high to come often. ($12 a person)

Yelp
Educational and fun! @Greg Andrews gave a wonderful one man show and taught us about the night sky in great detail. Great for kids of all ages.

Yelp
Kids had a blast. 17, 15 and 8 and everyone found something they loved! Planter I'm was small and done was down but the video was still good. Plenty of hands on things still open with covid. Lots of sanitizing stations throughout. Staff was helpful and kind. Would certainly go again.

Yelp
Amazing experience. Employees are so formerly and knowledgeable. We love coming here with our grandchildren.

Yelp
Great new attraction! Aquarium is pretty good and decent price. Hopefully they expand in future.

Yelp
Great place to waste some time. Tons for kids to do and try, along with cool things for adults to try too . We didn't have time to spend a lot of time here. Would definitely go back.

Yelp
So disappointing. We arrived at opening during our spring break and immediately the lady at the front desk was RUDE not only to us but to the family in front of us as well. We were simply purchasing tickets and had never been here before and were inquiring about prices. We made our way to the exhibits where quite a few did not even work. The pop area was by far the best part but we were glad they were not busy. It was not worth the money and very disappointing.

Susana H.

Yelp
The place is ok, I think maybe they just lack the funding to be a great place. It has potential. The people that work there were very friendly and professional. Overall a good place to spend some time with the family indoors.

Yelp
I went to see the IMAX movie, a great place to take a break from the smoky casinos and just a few blks away from the El Dorado. The IMAX is incredible! Huge screen, they said 3 stories, but it totally encompasses the seating area, and the aerial views were astounding, I may have experienced a little bit of vertigo, and I'm not like that. Definitely will be back to check out the planetarium which is currently being renovated until October

Yelp
Always an interesting place to go for a little trip. I used to go as a kid a lot. It was fun doing stuff like building a dam and i remember once or twice going to the IMAX theater. Of course you may find it harder to have fun when you get older but with age you also may find new reasons to enjoy it. I get nephews now that love going and its fun to go with them. I recommend it especially if you have kids, are a kid (At heart or just a regular kid) or if you are taking care of someone else's kids. Also i recommend it if you want to go to an IMAX movie in Shreveport.

Yelp
This is a good place to introduce kids to science. The day I went it was on Terrific Tuesday. It only costs $2 to get in otherwise it would be $12 (adult)/$9 (child) for the museum and $8.50 (adult)/$7.50 (child) for the IMAX. There aren't a lot of exhibit places for the kids. And what there is doesn't keep young ones interested for long. I think this place is best for kids who are already in elementary school. It doesn't keep the attention span of a 5-year old very well. I was here with my cousin and she kept bouncing around from station to station. Thankfully we had a free pass to get into the IMAX, which satisfied her for 45 minutes. The highlight of the day was a paper airplane exhibit. There was a computer program that provided six paper airplane designs. The museum provided paper to fold them. There was even a place to test the aerodynamics of the plane. Then, the museum had a place to actually launch the paper airplanes in a tunnel. It was a lot of fun and quite memorable. The museum even has mini-programs going on during the day. Unfortunately, none were that interested in learning about tree rings. But I'm sure the making your own slime demonstration gathered more kids. This place has a lot of improvement to make when comparing it to other exploratoriums and discovery science centers in larger metropolitan areas. But at least Shreveport is trying to introduce the fun of science to children.

Yelp
Shreveport is lucky to have this facility! This is a great place for kids and adults! They have great exhibits and great IMAX films! I LOVED the most recent Bodies exhibit and am looking forward to their fall exhibit: Titanic! Should pair well with The Strand's landing of the Titanic play! I sometimes stop by here just to see an IMAX film! From time to time, they will have IMAX film festivals and have special guests and speakers. This place is truly a gem.

Yelp
Many of our friends have taken their children to Sci-Port and had great reviews. We took our little and it was incredibly disappointing. The only things open were the interactive room and the IMAX. We were charged $30 for two adults and one three year old to go into one room and let him play in the different scenario rooms. IMAX was $12/person extra so we opted out of that as the feature was a panda. Do not make the trip or spend the money until there is more to see. Otherwise you'll be spending your time in a play area.

Yelp
I visited Sci-Port when I was in college, 15 years ago. It was great. I moved away after college and just moved back to the area 2 years ago (2017). Pretty shortly after, my family got a membership for the museum since I had 2 kids. We had to choose between POP and the rest, which was fine I guess. I went with POP. It is really cute and nice, and my 2 kids like it a lot. Well the museum then shut down for months for renovations. After several months we were told we could come to the POP area again but the rest was still shut down. It was closed for a long time, maybe 8-9 months? I can't remember. Finally there was a grand opening sort of deal, the whole thing was finally reopening. I learned they had new owners, which was supposedly a good thing. Today I decided to bring my kids back and visit the whole thing, POP and the renovated other side. I was expecting a lot of changes, a new experience. And it has been a massive letdown. I do not know what they were working on that whole time. Several things were broken, mostly it's the old stuff just rearranged, and there are a couple of new things. The old things were dirty, some lights were flickering, there's no ambience. It's just sad. I wanted to leave quickly. I'm only giving 3 stars because the POP side is nice for little kids. For $36 I expected to stay for a long time, but it is just not as good as it once was.

Yelp
Super awesome interactive exhibits designed to delight the entire family...even my teenagers really enjoyed this experience. The IMAX is probably the most impressive of all others I've been to in my lifetime; I just enjoy the half-domes way more than the giant screens, especially while watching colorful saltwater fish swim around.

Michelle J.

Yelp
So many of the exhibits were not working. Quite disappointing. Even if most of the monitors and screens and interactive items were working, it would still be 'meh.' At least 35% of the stations were not functioning. It has a cool imax, but that alone is not worth the price. Plus the employees were standing around in the children's museum, talking about how the walk-in talkies could be reprogrammed, and how much they hate their shifts. Considering a lot of items needed cleaning, they probably could have been making better use of their time.

Nakia M.

Yelp
Recently, had a party here & turned out wonderful! Staff nice but not so much helpful! Love this place. Great place for children to learn & have fun at the same time! Will be returning!

Yelp
LOVE this place! This is a must-see stop every time we pass through Shreveport. There is a TON of stuff here for the kiddos to explore... so much that there is absolutely no way they can really do everything in one day except on a cursory level. We could easily spend hours in the lobby alone, playing on the giant floor piano (like in the old-school movie Big!) and being mesmerized by the zillion balls and bells and whistles in constant motion. We usually move on, because OMG! Tons of awesome and fun exhibits to see! There are LOTS of exhibits to see and LOTS of science to be learned in this place. Everything appears to be clean and in good working order, and there are usually quite a few staff members walking around offering to explain the science behind an exhibit (because you KNOW kids don't normally slow down long enough to actually read the stuff) or even demonstrate some of the less straightforward ones. They also have quite a few demonstrations and hands-on activities scheduled at different locations throughout the day, so make sure you pick up the little schedule while you're getting your arm bands so you can check those out. There is an IMAX theater and a planetarium on site, but we haven't made it to either yet. The IMAX films that they're advertising right now look great though, and I have seen some of the planetarium shows elsewhere and can say that they are definitely good stuff. There is a small café on site should you get hungry during your visit and not want to leave, but with the exception of a few salads it looks to be the standard unhealthy fare that you find at most places that cater to kids. :( The gift shop is well-stocked with lots of cool stuff should you decide to take some fun science home with you. Restrooms are plentiful, and there are a few family restrooms with kid-sized sinks and kid-height mirrors that are a refreshing deviation from the norm. Quite a few of water fountains are scattered throughout, usually located in close proximity to the restrooms, and at varying heights to accommodate all of the kiddies. Bottom line - this place will keep kids of all ages entertained alllllll day long, and keep you indoors out of the weather if that's a factor. WIN!! :D
google avatar

Kelly T.

Yelp
This is a nice, little museum. Does it justify 18 bucks with the Imax ticket? Maybe. The kids will have fun. The Imax theater is the smallest Imax I've ever seen. One little place to eat. Protip: go on Saturday morning during college football season. You'll have the place to yourself.
google avatar

André R.

Yelp
Too many of the exhibits were broken, but the ones that worked were interesting. I think that for the high admission prices that they charge, it would cost little in comparison to fix the exhibits. The problems are small such as frozen computers or missing computer monitors. They could be easily fixed.
google avatar

Carrie M.

Yelp
This is such a fun place. My 10 year old had a blast. The staff got a snake out so he could pet it and we were told all about the Shreveport Bossier area. The science part of Sci-Port is great to teach kids about many different things in life. The cafe prices are really high so don't plan on saving money when you are hungry here. So plan on eating before your visit to Sic-Port.

Inga S.

Yelp
The planetarium was amazing and Greg Andrews made the experience worthwhile! He answered all off our questions with great detail and his level of expertise and excitement for his craft made the experience that much more interesting!
google avatar

Kristen W.

Yelp
We loved it! Lots of hands on activities for kids of all ages. Even my youngest (1 yr) had fun. Great place to go when you are in the area. Fun and educational!
google avatar

Jon S.

Yelp
This was definitely a place for kids, and there were about 50 of them running around on a school trip or something. It had a lot of information about a lot of different scientific things, like magnetism, electricity, the solar system, how dams work, how oil rigs work, just a lot of neat stuff. A lot of stations had hands-on learning equipment, like operating a Mars rover type robot, testing the magnetism of different object, etc. It was fairly cheap as well, like $15 or something. There really weren't any staff trying to go around helping or explaining things, which doesn't matter to me, but the kids probably would've enjoyed it.
google avatar

Odell D.

Yelp
Nice museum. I saw the Bodies Revealed exhibit there just before closing time, and was the only patron in the building.
google avatar

Wes P.

Yelp
Shreveport's very own Exploratorium. Science! Imax! Reptiles! Extremely close to the downtown hotels, and wonderful for kids.

Cori C.

Yelp
We paid $10 per person ($50 total) to go into a tiny children's museum. It needed some updating. It was not worth the $50 we paid. My children were even bored. I felt like I ripped off today.
google avatar

Rebecca R.

Yelp
This was a pretty neat little place to take the kids to for a few hours. It had a bunch of things for kids to touch and play with. We were just bummed because you pay about $13 and none of the hands on exhibits are open. They had only a few times that they were open with an employee to help in, otherwise, roped off and closed. But there was a large amount of exhibits to look at and fiddle with. A bed of nails, a paper airplane exhibit that shows how to make an airplane and you get to fly it, and several others. Kind of fun.

Katie F.

Yelp
Disappointed. Despite not mentioning this anywhere I found, they are no longer affiliated with ASTC. This means families who travel and use their ASTC memberships to have access to all the other reciprocating facilities will be very surprised they have to pay full price here. Also, only parts of the science center are now open. I had read this in advance, but we decided to give it a try since we were traveling through the area (thinking we wouldn't be paying anything to get in with our membership). If the museum isn't fully operational, I think it is a shame visitors are paying full price. We spent $48 for our family of 4 (which included a 3 yr old) to see everything in less than 90 min. That is half the cost I paid for my annual membership ASTC membership. I would have preferred to do something else in the area, but we had traveled a few hours and had promised our kids. Giving 2 stars instead of 1 because staff was great and they were really trying for kids to have a nice experience.
google avatar

Kristen S.

Yelp
We had a good time with the kids. Looks like lots of structured activities for groups of kids. Can be through the whole facility (minus the IMAX) in about 3 hours.

Brittany J.

Yelp
This place has gone downhill. We paid over 60 dollars and half the exhibits didn't work. It was supposedly shark week and I didn't see one thing to do that had to do with sharks. The best part was the IMAX movie and it was a movie from the 90s. We will not return nor will I recommend this to others.

Emily F.

Yelp
This place has gone downhill. The exhibits are all dirty- for example, the skeleton on the bike has years worth of dust on it and a visible roach trap sitting inside. Yuck!! Almost everything has something broken. The kids area didn't have enough water in the water toy, the house exhibit has all broken parts and missing pieces. The staff do not seem to care about anything, they lounge around talking instead of engaging guests. Most of the screens that tell you about the exhibit do not work and there is an entire area of computers closed.I remember when SciPort was new and clean and awesome. Now when we visit we are so disappointed. We only come because we can get in free with our Aztec membership. There is so much potential with the center, I am sad to see that it has been so neglected.

Heather W.

Yelp
A lot of exhibits do seem to have issues, but my 2 year olds had a great time discovering planets, animals, and seamen

Kathryn R.

Yelp
This place was suggested to me by several people. It was absolutely not worth the price. Things are outdated, some didn't work, and it is definitely geared for very young kids. I'm not sure why so many people said it was a must go. I was just not impressed.

janeen O.

Yelp
This is one of Shreveport, Louisiana's best place for buying the yearly family deal. for a little over a hundred dollars, you can take a pack of 8 kids every day for the rest of the year. It is awesome. The kids would rate it a 10. I have seen Fancier Science Center across the Us, so this gets a 4. It is very wonderful. Did I mention the free IMAX passes they give you with the membership. it is a deal that can't go wrong. My membership was a gift from my brother in law. Thanks Pope O. We loved it all year and took the kids all summer long!
