This hidden gem in SLC has a wide variety of delicious ciders. Since my friend and I had never tried cider before, we ordered each of the “flights” which included samples of various ciders. It was fun trying each of the samples and discovering which ones we liked. For a snack, we ordered the olive oil chips which were very delicious. This bar is also very clean and spacious, with lots of seating inside and outside.

Cute little location. Loved trying the cider flights! We tried the fruit and house flights and the Highpoint prairie punch was my favorite. Loved the guava and passion fruit flavor. Lots of space to sit and the menu selection is pretty vast.

Google
The flights are kinda a scam…. $6 for a flight bit only $1 per taster… we made that mistake. Paid double for a flight. The ciders were good, and a really great selection of drinks. Disappointed in the pricing structure

This is one of my happy places. Super knowledgeable and friendly staff/owners, and incredible selection. Biggest cider variety in the state for sure, maybe even the country...? They will steer you towards something that you will absolutely love, just ask. If you like new and delightful experiences related to fermented beverages, this is the place for you.

Went here for their apple pressing event last weekend and had a great time! I was perplexed at first because I heard choral singing outside and thought it was a church event, but instead it was a cider-themed duo that leads drinking songs!! I felt like I was a Welshman in a pub with my best mates. The apple juice was good, they were out of hot cider. I would come back and try the other stuff they have :)

So I've for the most part loved this place, I've gone a lot and almost always enjoyed my experience the sap sucker is one of the best drinks I've ever had, it's absolutely fantastic and I highly recommend it. But, a fly landed in my drink and the bartender refused to replace it, and that really left a sour taste in my mouth. It was only a little bit of a drink but it really sucked that they wouldn't replace the contaminated portion of my drink. It's a good drink but I spent my money on it and feel like I was cheated out of my purchase. I didn't bring the fly in, but not replacing what was left of my drink wasn't great. Felt kinda shitty, like a bar I really enjoyed before and came to many times didn't care about my enjoyment of my drink.

Great place to sample a lot of types of ciders! We enjoyed a flight and several small $1 samples. The owner/brewer was fun to chat with and shared a lot about the history of the area and Utah. Highly recommend for a place with great vibes and cider!

Google
What an awesome new spot. More than 250 canned, bottled or on-tap ciders can be a little overwhelming (and a good problem to have!), but the staff are super helpful with selecting. Very knowledgeable and friendly. Great local ciders available. Cool indoor vibe with an outdoor patio in an area that’s becoming more and more walkable. The rotating daily specials are fun, too, and it’s a must-try spot for cider lovers and newbies alike! If you’re not looking for Cider, they carry a good assortment of local and regional beer, too (hello, Washington!).

Yelp
This place is so special and Salt Lake City is so lucky to have it! The people who work here are so nice and give awesome recommendations. You can really tell they care about cider and take a ton of pride in their business. They have an insane number of options (over 20 on tap alone with a rotating variety, cans, bottles, and large bottles). They do 1 oz tasters, 5 oz glasses, as well as 15 or 25 oz carafes for the drinks on tap. I am always so impressed by the variety so it's great that they do flights as well as the tasters. They mostly focus on hard cider but they also have really delicious meads and other drinks (including unique cocktails). They also have some food, one option of which is charcuterie boards. They get fresh focaccia from Central 9th Market on the same block (super bomb bread). The vibe is pretty cool too-- they have seating both indoors and outdoors, and they have board games as well as books. It's always super clean and there is plenty of seating to either go as a group or for a date. I come here pretty much bi-weekly now with my boyfriend because we absolutely love it. If you like ciders and meads or want to try them, you definitely need to give Scion Cider a try!

Yelp
simply fantastic. Huge selection of cider, kind and knowledgeable staff, and fun events! It's a SLC must

Yelp
Great Ambiance, good ciders on tap. But the house made ciders smell like farts. Very eggy aromatics and aftertaste. Try the funky flight, you will not be disappointed. Scion cider bar, more like eggs in the city. 5/5

Yelp
I've always been obsessed with hard cider, so when I saw there was a bar that opened in Salt Lake City that was dedicated to showcasing hard ciders I had to check it out! Per the suggestion of the bartender, I started with a rose hard cider that happened to be from Vermont, which is where I'm originally from! The second one I ordered was a pineapple hard cider. Both were delicious - not too sweet and perfectly refreshing. They had several ciders from all over the US, including a couple from Vermont which was very exciting for me to see. There were quite a few ciders on tap, and several different options in cans as well. This bar is in such a great location - right on 9th west by Laziz and Water Witch. I'm excited to see how this area grows and changes as more businesses start popping up. I'm also excited for the warmer weather so people can start enjoying the patio area! They don't currently sell food - they have some chips and nuts to snack on, but there are businesses nearby that sell great food and you can bring in food from other places. I'm excited to see this place grow as this area in SLC grows, and am looking forward to coming back and enjoying some more Vermont ciders.

Yelp
We love Scion Cider! If you like cider or are just interested in trying cider, this is the place to go! They have pretty much every cider that you can feasibly acquire in Utah plus their in house brews. Who knew there are so many different styles of cider?? If you're cider curious, this is great because they have a decent amount available in taster sizes so you can try a bunch and find the cider that is just right for you. They also do special events pretty much every week day. Our favorite is Thursday night. Thursday night is education night so it's a great opportunity to learn more about cider in a friendly not intimidating way. After coming here regularly, I learned that there are a surprising amount of options for Utah cider. They also have ciders from around the world. Some of them are nearly impossible to find at the liquor store or are only available by the case so it's great to come here and try out a bottle first before you commit to buying an entire case. And for those of you who aren't cider nerds, they do have a lot of other things too. I know for me, after 3 ciders, I'm craving a beer or a cocktail. They have a pretty great beer selection and I have never been disappointed by their seasonal cocktails.

Yelp
I really enjoy this place for their wide selection of ciders and casual atmosphere. It's great they have flights to try a variety of options. Their charcuterie is simple but all the ingredients were fresh and delicious. A great spot for a casual date or meet up with friends! Will be back again!

Yelp
It's so cool that this area has a dedicated cider bar, with a huge selection and knowledgeable staff to guide the decision-making process. We're pretty new to hard cider and got a couple of flights- "fruity" and "funky". My favorite was definitely the Original Sin Black Widow, which is a blackberry cider and pretty sweet. We also got non-alcoholic warm mulled cider, which was spiced to perfection and was an excellent drink on a snowy afternoon. This seems like a fun and low-key place to try something new, and they even have an outdoor patio.

Yelp
On a visit to SLC for work, I was lucky enough to hear that Scion opened about a month ago just down the street from my office. Coming from Denver, I LOVE the cider scene and jumped at the chance to try some local flavors. Little did I know, that I would run into a couple other Denverites and the 4 of us would spend hours chatting with Rio, the owner/manager and tasting a wide range of local and import ciders and even a mead! I cannot understate how friendly and knowledgable Rio is. His background is beer/breweries, but he has brought his passion over to the newer frontier of ciders and I really enjoyed learning from him. He offers 20 ciders on draft (yes, you can get tasters of all of them!) as well as wine, mead and a couple beers. You can also order full cans, bottles and specialty ciders. He has really curated an impressive assortment of dry ciders, fruited ciders and unique flavors like pine, lemongrass, ghost pepper, chile guava and more. It sounds like he has a lot in store for Scion in the coming months - I'll definitely be back on my next visit!

Yelp
I'm not sure why I waited to write a review of Scion. They are the singular business dedicated to hard cider in the valley. They have a huge selection. Unlike beer, where there seems to be a more standardized vocabulary to know what to ask for, I don't know of one for cider Still, I get by. I few years back I found myself going to London pretty regularly. They had so much craft cider there, I had it a lot. It wasn't like the few bulk brands of sweet drink we had here. Finally,, the US is creating the same type of movement here. It's very cool. The patio is dog friendly. The people are great. They are a great addition to the local scene.

Yelp
Concept is cool, coders galore! However, I was extremely overwhelmed at the copious amounts of ciders. Maybe I need peruse the menu on a larger screen before hitting up this joint vs viewing the menu on a small phone screen? You can't even select your own flight, it's preselected for you on the menu board. I ordered an 11pt cider and it didn't even come in pint size -didn't even get a buzz. Taste was good but can't remember the darn cider I ordered :(

Yelp
Lots of ciders on tap, plenty of bottled/canned options, the flights are fun and it's located in a cute plaza with other food/beverage establishments - makes for a perfect night out (scion for HH, laziz for dinner, witch for aperitif). I love they have 1oz taster options (not free, small price) - allows one to sample funky and sour flavors that you might be apprehensive to try since bars don't allow you to try-before-you-commit. Servers are very nice, fast, knowledgeable. Place serves snacks - but nothing i would recommend. Eat before you come (or check out Laziz next door).

Yelp
A really fun cider bar in SLC! Amazing selection of bottled & canned ciders from around the area, with multiple ciders on tap. At least two different flight line-ups; only got the one, but ''twas mighty tasty!

Yelp
Went down to try this place out, and ended up loving it! I'm a neophyte when it comes to cider, but Gretchen made me feel very comfortable and at home. Tried so many new ciders, and I will be back for my favorites! Great service, very clean and full of nice people!

Sam A.

Yelp
Great selection - to the point where I agree with those that say it can seem overwhelming. Perfect place if you're looking to explore ciders.

Yelp
We drove all the way from Boise to try Scion Cider for my husbands birthday, and they exceeded our expectations! I have never seen so many ciders in one place before! We went with a group of friends and one of them is gluten free, so knowing that anything they ordered was safe helped us enjoy the night even more. The service was great, the bartenders were extremely knowledgeable on the different types of cider offered. We ended up liking the ones they suggested more than the ones we picked! We will be going back every time we're in Utah now!

Jordan R.

Yelp
Great spot. Staff really helps to introduce the cider that otherwise could be overwhelming with over 250 options to choose from.

Mandi N.

Yelp
The only possibly negative thing I could say about this place is the parking sucks. If you like cider this is a must visit.

Ju L.

Yelp
Went on a Saturday afternoon with my SO and sat outside enjoying the weather. Scion has a nice selection of ciders with some unique flavors. Ask the bartenders what ciders they recommend and get tasters to make your own flight - we really enjoyed the Pineapple Haze and Rev Nat's Punch! They do have food items but we only got the ciders this time. We'll be back for sure

Trevor P.

Yelp
Great place! Vibe is chill. The owners and staff are super friendly. Come and learn a bit about cider.

K W.

Yelp
I don't know who needs to hear this but if you like cider. Please go here. They have more options than I have EVER seen in my whole life and I am a cider person.

Joebob B.

Yelp
Great location, selection and people. The prices are the only reason they lost 2 stars, noticed quite an upcharge on certain varieties.

Carly S.

Yelp
This is a cider drinkers dream come true. 20 ciders on tap. 1 ounce tastings from $1-$2 each. I tired so many fun and interesting things. They also have a large selection of ciders in cans and bottles. Great service!

Mike J.

Yelp
Very knowledgeable. Friendly and helpful. These folks know their cider! Selection is wide ranging
