The Best Restaurants On Long Beach Island - Jersey Shore - The Infatuation

"Funny name, friendly service, and limitless pancake options? Say no more. This Surf City spot is only open for breakfast and lunch, so get here before 2pm for fancified diner-style dishes like grilled portabello eggs benedict, three-egg skillets, and challah french toast stuffed with local berries (there is always a wait, but you can join the waitlist online). If breakfast isn’t your thing, have no fear—you can get as creative with your burger toppings as the under-5 set gets with their short stacks." - alison kessler, regan stephens, matt tervooren, tonya russell

Clean and modern atmosphere with a bustling team of staff. Service was slow as a result of a busy Sunday morning but the food was definitely pretty good. No issues overall, large menu with plenty of options for just about any budget or tasting preferences. We enjoyed the Chicken and Waffles along with the Boardwalk skillet. Nothing to write home about but definitely would return. Expect a small wait for smaller parties and a longer wait for larger, the later the better and parking also a little tricky.

O Joe’s was awesome! I had the Monte sandwich and it blew me away – French toast as the bread made it super unique and delicious. Everyone at my table loved their food too. The staff was really friendly and made the experience even better. Definitely coming back!

Google
Scojos, where brunch is a foodie's paradise but watch out for the "Express Exit" server! As soon as I entered I noticed how airy , bright, cheery, and cleaner than my grandma's approval checklist the establishment was ( always a PLUS). The eggs Benedict and French toast are practically celestial , and my boyfriend's veggie omelette and turkey bacon were cooked JUST RIGHT without sacrificing taste- all of that plus , affordable ingredients that don't break the bank - brunch jackpot 🎰 ! Now, let's talk about the server, who must have a personal vendetta against chill vibes or had somewhere to be ? This person approached our table like they had a brunch stopwatch hidden somewhere. Zero sense of humor, and their mission was clear: eat, pay, evacuate Feeling rushed at a brunch spot is like finding out your favorite brunch spot serves decaf coffee - a major buzzkill. Scojos, your food is brunchalicious, but next time, let us enjoy it at our own pace. If I wanted a sprint, I'd sign up for a 5K, not brunch. 4/5 - deducted a point for the brunch police on duty! Aside from that I highly recommend this delightful spot on the island !

It's one of my favorite places on LBI. Great food and very nice atmosphere.

Google
Haven't been on LBI in some time. Had such a great brunch meal at ScoJos. Our server Haley was lovely as were the rest of the staff. In spite of being extreme busy, always a smile and friendly. Three in our party and there was a 15 minute wait, but we'll worth it. Food was phenomenal. We had the Cali Benedict, Power Wrap and Confetti Silver Dollars. Everything was perfect. We will definitely visit again when we're next on the island.

Google
Great place for breakfast. Food was very good and cooked well. The staff is very friendly and on top of drinks and making sure everything is OK. Place is also nice and clean and decor is well appointed.

Google
The place is beautiful. I'd never been and was delighted by their setup and atmosphere. The hostess and servers were sweet and smiley exactly who you want at the front of the house. The menu was intense. We were there for breakfast and as a last second decision I went with a turkey bacon blt on gf bread with egg whites and a side of fruit. Fruit was fresh and delicious but my sandwich was soggy=/ I attempted to pick it up and it flopped..the egg whites slid off the lettuce and I decided to ditch the bread, cut it up and eat it off the plate wit my fork. It was delicious but the server never even came back for me to tell her my bread was soggy. She never came back for me to get a 2nd cup of coffee either. They were busy and I get that, but I'll definitely be trying some place else b4 settling back here...I didn't feel the love.

Google
The eggs made me get a little nauseous, but other than that great food (especially the 1/2 moon pancakes) and great service. Me and my family had a great time at your restaurant. Beware of the Christmas sweater monster

Yelp
If you haven't been to ScoJo's Surf city, NJ you are missing out on one of the best little eateries on Long Beach Island. The food and the service are both superb! Andy and his staff went above and beyond and even exceeded our expectations. We had our son and daughter in laws rehearsal dinner at ScoJo's in August of this year. It was quiet and quaint just like we wanted it to be. He closed the whole restaurant down just for us. It was perfect! Thank you Andy! Great job! Fondly, The Dean Family

Yelp
Scojo's is a wonderful little spot. It's nice to see them open in November. For this visit I had a porkroll and cheese on a pretzel roll with home fries. I have to say their home fries are really great. A little char, not horribly greasy, and a solid onion flavor. Wonderful! As for the sandwich, it was good. The roll was decent but not super fresh. I also like salt on my pretzel rolls but not many places do that. Porkroll was lightly browned and cheese was melted, can't really ask for more. Service was good and as a plus they have lacas coffee, love me some diner coffee! A great off-season spot!

Yelp
Meh. It's an expensive diner, 2 people, 2 coffees and 2 mediocre breakfast 48$. It was really crowded for a Thursday morning and as soon as we sat down a waiter came over and said "you know what you ordering?" And I said no we need a minute, then another waitress came to the table before I could open the menu asking the exact same thing. Service just wasn't great, no one checked in, asked if we needed anything, etc. They seemed overwhelmed by the amount of people in the space as it was cramped, loud and messy. The inside is cute, very crisp looking but it was over run with flies. Once placing our order it came out pretty fast, but the food was lukewarm. The waiter brought out a tray stacked to high heaven with numerous tables orders on it. My toast was soggy and my food wasn't hot. I think the only reason it's popular or busy is because of its location. Do yourself a favor and go further into the island and find better food. This was super generic and not great, not worth the money. From a local who it took 8 years to try this place, just not worth it.

Yelp
Thankfully, we went on an afternoon in the winter month because I'm sure this place in the summer is jampacked. The service was friendly and quick. The place looks very clean and beachy. I had two eggs and style, which was a great size portion. My husband had beef chips with cheese. We've never heard of this meal before, but he actually really liked it. We would definitely go back here again.

Yelp
Awesome food as always! Fast service, friendly staff and food is always 5 star at Scojos!

Yelp
Scojo's has become one of my go to spots in LBI. Cute diner vibes with a modern spin. I love how bright this restaurant is and even though it is a bit loud, I like the lively breakfast/brunch atmosphere. They have a large menu, definitely something for everyone. I'm partial to the pancakes. So fluffy and delicious. Be prepared to wait during the summer especially on the weekends. Off season it's a lot easier to get a table of course. This is a great place to start your day down the shore.

Yelp
Had breakfast here with the family. I had forgotten to ask for my corned beef hash to be crispy, but they got it right anyway. It is good that they added onto their menu the hashbrowns that you see. Had to have it all with Ryebread and the couple of eggs that were runny. Service was very good. Very attentive. I have not been to this place in probably three or four years. I seem to recall there being a fire and the inside seems like it was recently refreshed. Nice atmosphere. A couple of things that they could tweak. The sugar that they have on the table have been the raw sugar. It seems that they should give that they also have a bunch of coffee drinks that are a notch higher. Please note that they charge 3% for using a credit card. I do think that they are on the high side for prices. But again, everything else was pretty good. I'll be back.

Keith S.

Yelp
Very clean, good food and service except I don't appreciate when the check is dropped only half way through my meal. Especially when it's not busy there is no need for that

Yelp
Food was delicious, service was friendly and helpful, location was clean and fun. Definitely a fun place to go for breakfast, brunch or lunch while down the shore! Try it out!

Yelp
This was my first time visiting Scojo's after their remodeling, and I really enjoy how they've brightened up the place! This little diner in Surf City definitely feels a bit more modern now, and it's absolutely packed with people on the weekends. My friend and I arrived without a reservation, so the only seats available were at the bar. I wasn't very impressed with the cleanliness of the bar area, especially with so many employees squeezed into one spot. Still, we were excited to grab some tasty breakfast food and the dishes didn't disappoint! I ordered the Breakfast Monte sandwich, which was absolutely huge and filling. It had everything you want in a breakfast sandwich.. some egg, cheese, sausage, and a bit of sweetness from the toast and maple syrup. I'd come back just for this sandwich alone, but their other breakfast options sounded super tasty as well! You can really find something for everyone on this menu.

Yelp
Wonderful service, very good and tasty meals. Got seated quickly and didn't wait long for the food. Again the service was exceptional!

Yelp
Over the summer my hubby and I decided to pretend to be tourists and go for breakfast,we never go out for early breakfast. I had a Greek omelette and he had pancakes with turkey sausage. The service was extremely friendly and they remodeled this restaurant so cute. I really didn't care for my omelet plus it had egg shells in it, Major ick for me.My spoon for my coffee wasn't clean. The pancakes, nothing fluffy taste about them. I'd rather try lunch next time. I use to love this place for lunch. It's still an iconic lbi restaurant because they've been around forever...

Yelp
Great place. Real home fries and friendly service. It's a great spot for a cheery breakfast.

Yelp
Scojo's has delicious food with ample size portions. The wait staff is super nice and they are efficient. Tables turn pretty quick and they have some outside seating as well. They have a waitlist, which, is very helpful during the summer season. They have a few parking spaces on the side of the building. If you are not lucky enough to get one of those you will need to find a space on the street. We live locally and really enjoy their food.
google avatar

Yelp
Great and friendly service. Food was delicious. Space is nice and open. Hope to come back some day!

Yelp
I'm surprised I've never reviewed Scojo's! It's one of our favorite spots on the island. I love their breakfast BLT sandwiches, and everything else I've ever eaten there. They have daily specials, highway portions, and fair pricing. And they have fresh squeezed OJ, be sure to order one next time you're there! Always fast and friendly service, always high food quality.

Samantha S.

Yelp
I like Scojo's but the Loaded Lox Bagel was probably the most disappointing bagel I've ever had. At $15.99 before tax and the 3% credit surcharge I get a burnt bagel with the lox, cream cheese, onions, and cucumbers on the SIDE. I had to put it together manually??? I was so shocked when I got home and opened the box. The photo speaks for itself. I will say there was a generous amount of lox but I still can't believe I was given the bagel like this. Disappointing.

Yelp
Pancakes we a hit with kids, my country eggs Benedict was good, but eggs slightly over cooked. Coffee and juice were on point. Watch Outside in windy conditions.

Yelp
We always find something to love, even the pickiest eaters in our family. This weekend our server was amazing too!
google avatar

Ashley M.

Yelp
Food was so good!! My quesadilla was HUGE for a decent price! Our waiter was great, very busy because of Mother's Day but he was busting out the food and waiting on all the tables! The place was filled with so much laughter and happy noise! Great place!
google avatar

Justin E.

Yelp
Amazing food, great service. I love the early waitlist access. The Menu selections were incredible, the staff were attentive, the wait was minimal, the food was excellent.

Noah F.

Yelp
Waffles were basically inedible. I know they were frozen. chicken tenders were good. maple syrups couldn't save the waffles for their life. Mac n cheese bites were good but there is no effort. it is kraft Mac n cheese fried up. marinara sauce was amazing. eggs were not good. home fries were dry. and had no flavor. eggs home fries and waffles were stone cold when they came out. won't be back.
google avatar

Amanda M.

Yelp
Great food and atmosphere- lots to choose from, gluten-free friendly too! Will definitely be back for more!

Margaret R.

Yelp
We enjoyed this classic LBI breakfast spot. Delicious coffee, fruit cup that accompanies breakfast has a nice assortment of fresh berries. The menu is big, with lots of choices. We had a skillet and an eggs and toast plate and enjoyed both. Service is friendly.
google avatar

Yelp
Popular place. 70% full at weekday lunch. Fast to be seated. Fast to be served. Very solid renditions of diner type food. Large but not too big portions. Cobb salad had delightful varieties of tidbits. Bacon hash skillet super filling. Still full hours later.

Yelp
Came here for lunch on a Saturday and we pretty much got seated right away. The food was fine, nothing to rave about. Pretty neutral. However, the service was something else. All the women were super kind and helpful but there was a man working that was definitely low key racist or something. We were the only Asian customers in the restaurant and from walking in initially to put our names down to leaving, this man was really short/rude and not friendly to us. I'm only saying something bc usually I'd chalk it up to overthinking and let it go bc we had multiple interactions with him where he ignored us and I saw him personally go to other tables to ask them how their food was but then only neglect our table in the same vicinity. Really didn't appreciate that but the other servers were very kind so don't want to take away from their kindness.
google avatar

Yelp
Good breakfast eats ... can get crowded during the summer obviously... get there early especially on the weekends.

Phyllis F.

Yelp
Love this place, fun atmosphere! Fun menu , good service, good food ! Charge for a refill of soda not necessary! Can't wait to go back and enjoy a great brunch!!!

Russell F.

Yelp
The food, service and atmosphere at Scojos were great. We had a wonderful breakfast with our family as we always do. We will return on our next visit to LBI.

Karen S.

Yelp
Food cinnamon bun french toast tasted like the bun was frozen for a long time. Service was very good. It was very loud sitting inside.

Walter W.

Yelp
Scojos has a packed house everyday. It's known as one of the best breakfast places in surf city. When you walk in you get a brunch vibe not so much a classic diner vibe (which I prefer). I got the Belgian waffle with strawberry's, bacon, and toast. The waffle was average. While it lacked flavor and was kind of bland it went well with the syrup and strawberries. The bacon was well done which I consider perfectly cooked; it had a nice crunch as well and was almost a flavor explosion in your mouth. The toast was fine. It was overly buttered tho which I didn't appreciate. I appreciated the service and it was a well run operation with the whole staff working hard. Overall I would give scojos a 3.9/5. I would go back again.

David H.

Yelp
Just plopped down at Scojo's after a great night hitting the town. Our table all decided to buckle up and all get the Loaded Potato Omelette. And let me tell you, that was life changing. Unbelievable, delicious, and absolutely exquisite. The Loaded Potato Omelette has changed my life, it was a lifeline to resurrecting me after last night. I've decided I will start looking at things differently knowing breakfast like that is out there. 5/5 and did not disappoint.

Nolan F.

Yelp
Food and ambiance were great. Very cool restaurant and style. I loved the iced coffee book. It was very creative. I wish the service was a little friendlier.

Rhys E.

Yelp
The service was very bad I tried to ask for a to go box and no one would help me. it is freezing cold in there and also flys are everywhere the food is ridiculously expensive.
google avatar

Jenn D.

Yelp
So there's good news and bad news. For the good news, the owner/ host tried very hard to reduce our wait by seating us on the side outside under the tent. The bad news, we felt ignored and we smelled the horrible smell of trash in the downwind. The food was good but I was embarrassed because I bragged about this place to my friends...
google avatar

Lucas R.

Yelp
Great food! Sandwiches were delicious. Loved the Buffalo fries. Wasn't packed at 2 pm on a Sunday.
google avatar

Becky B.

Yelp
This restaurant is a great option with good food. Give them a try! I would love to see a variety of vegan options similar to what other places have done.
google avatar

Jess D.

Yelp
Such a great place for breakfast on the island, especially in the off season. There was a nice crowd for it being a Monday in April. Sat at the coffee bar and was served there - everything was great! So many options for breakfast or lunch. Definitely head here if you haven't yet!
google avatar

Sabrina M.

Yelp
i enjoyed! Came here with my boyfriend and we both enjoyed. Nice to have a good breakfast spot closer to the barnegat light side
google avatar

Bret K.

Yelp
I rarely go pancakes or French toast when I go out for breakfast but I was feeling it here. 2 moons is the single greatest breakfast item on the planet when you need sweet. 2 pancakes folded over filled with mucho sweet cream cheese whip cream n your choice of fruit for $12.99. Belgium waffles deserve a pic 2. Nicest people work here and were so great to my lil one. Fast service n all. They do the wiring list thing online and it was accurate. Will go again and order this along with one or more Bennys.
google avatar

Yelp
"Scojos Eatery " Surf City LBI Nice place I think this is the closet of clean you can get with any restaurant ! The only thing I would like instead of Udis GF bread they should change. To Three Brothers GF bread. The food was very good.
google avatar

Mitchell B.

Yelp
The food is delicious, the ambiance is energetic (we enjoyed that) and the service is terrific. NOTE: Your food will come out fairly quickly post ordering so be ready
google avatar

Yelp
Excellent food & service! Beautiful, modern, spotless restaurant with a wonderful menu selection!

Yelp
I hate to do it Scojos but I have to say this time was not my favorite here. I get it, you want to increase your seating capacity and expand the inside to the outside. However sticking customers in a dirty parking lot under a tent in 90 degree heat is not working and created an awful breakfast experience. I believe this restaurant is under new ownership and the menu pretty much stayed the same, they painted the outside of the building white and kept inside the same. However in order to increase patronage which I get, they added an event tent on the side parking lot outside the backdoor of the kitchen. This is all well in good except in cases where its 95 degrees under the tent, the lot is sort of nasty with exposed trash and deliveries and nasty puddles of sewage and the staff looks hot and miserable and there are no fans. Stick with the inside, cooled off part and don't bother with the outside. Another thing I will keep from my original review, change up the recipe of your home fries. They looks dismal and they are tasteless and pitiful. The food is otherwise not bad, prices are still outrageous ($16 bucks for a couple of eggs and toast?). Not sure I would be back here.

Yelp
Here have some brown water with extra extra extra extra sugar and milky! Where's the COFEEE

Yelp
Scojo's is Solid place. Great service and delicious coffee. Breakfast sandwiches are good.

Deborah P.

Yelp
Food is great! I really like their food. Not as bad price wise as most on the island. Service is always good. Not a big place so always a wait. Small so sometimes loud....
