Where To Eat When You're Visiting San Francisco

"You rode 1.7 miles by bike over the Golden Gate Bridge (or ferried), and landed in the city where Otis Redding sat on the dock of the bay. Congratulations, you deserve an afternoon filled with oysters and sparkling wine at Scoma’s. The old-school seafood icon in tourist-packed Sausalito (the original is in Fisherman’s Wharf) is where to park it on the deck, or the solarium-like dining room with the rest of the day-trippers, and pretend you’ve been a regular for decades. Skip the grilled fish entrées, sandwiches, and linguine con vongole—the strategy here is to keep your drink of choice coming, admire the Angel Island views over fried calamari, and ride (if your tired muscles will allow it) away. " - julia chen 1, lani conway, ricky rodriguez

We had a great meal at this iconic seafood spot located on a small wharf jutting out into the bay on a cool and drizzly Saturday in April. While we were hoping for more hospitable weather so as to enjoy the view, San Francisco’s notoriously climate pushed in some light rain. Nonetheless, we arrived early for our 6:45 reservation and were very pleased to be seated in the prime part of the restaurant-a porch like area all the way at the end surrounded on three sides by windows. With large mirrors on the walls, everyone has a view to the water. This part of the place seats maybe 20 people. There’s another larger area in the center with windows on two sides but you’ll want to try to get these prime spots if you can. This place is bustling and the efficient waiters are constantly filling water glasses and bringing food and clearing tables. The menu focuses on seafood. We had had a big lunch so decided to do salads and appetizers. Both The arugula pear salad and the special gem salad were fantastic-fresh and flavorful. The Dungeness crab cakes and Spanish style shrimp (Gambas) were also wonderful. I’m a sucker for good sour dough bread and theirs didn’t disappoint. Toss in a couple of glasses of Grgich hills fume blanc and it’s just about my perfect meal in the Bay Area. Well done.

I can genuinely say this is one of the best dining experiences I’ve ever had. From the moment I walked in, everything—from the warm and attentive service to the incredible food—was absolutely top-notch. The dishes were served piping hot shortly after I placed my order, and every bite was bursting with flavor. I’ll admit, I didn’t even have the patience to take perfect photos because the food looked and smelled so amazing—I just had to dig in. It’s rare to find a place where both quality and care shine through so clearly. This meal left a lasting impression, and I can’t wait to come back.

The food and service for our belated anniversary celebration were excellent. We were seated by the windows with a view of the bay and San Francisco skyline. We started with a cocktail each. The California Old-fashioned came out round 1 in a chipped glass. To be safe, we had it taken back and replaced with a new drink with no fuss. It was good. She had a Sausalito Blossom from the seasonal menu. It was delicious! We shared a crab cake appetizer. My cake was flawless and flavorful. Wife did pull some shell out of hers but otherwise enjoyed it. For mains, I had the seared ahi tuna and she enjoyed the scallops. Both were excellent. We enjoyed each bite. We were surprised with a complimentary ice cream dessert. We enjoyed that to cap off our meal and our week in California. I would return to try more menu items and specials.

Had a romantic solo early dinner late here. My first stop in Sausalito. What a lovely way to be welcomed to this adorable town. The service was incredible and went above and beyond. The food was so fresh and filling. I ordered oysters, the peach salad, clam chowder and a glass of wine. It was delicious. The view is unbeatable as well. I can’t wait to come back.

I want to give a special thanks to Alfonso D for his great customer service he provided us. The food is mind blowing. Also I can tell the entire team is on top of every detail ( thanks to all of them as well ) . I’m definitely coming back to enjoy the atmosphere there is here.

This is my 3rd time at Scoma's, and I'm never disappointed. We had reservations at 1:30pm, walked in, and was seated promptly. Maria is a friendly, inviting, and attentive waitress. The food came out hot, fresh, and delicious. I can't wait until we visit again.

Google
Scoma’s in an establishment, it’s elegant but casual and their attention to detail shines in their food. We ordered the Scallops and the crab spaghetti special. Both dishes were phenomenal. Their bloody mary’s were so flavorful, we ordered a second round. I highly recommend this place especially if you’re hosting guest who have never been to the bay.

Google
An excellent spot in Sausalito for both seafood and non-seafood lovers. The restaurant is located on the waterfront, offering beautiful surroundings. I ordered one oyster, a cup of clam chowder, and the waitress recommended the blackened cod. Everything was delicious, including the bread and butter.

Yelp
It was a small, quaint and intimate restaurant. They food was delicious and the seafood was fresh. Our waiter was lovely and very inviting. The dinning faces out into the bay. It was dark, but see an amazing view. I can only imagine the daytime being even better. This is definite a spot to enjoy a lovely meal on a quick trip to San Fran!

Yelp
Came over to Sausalito after a Muir Woods tour and decided to hang out for the afternoon and take the ferry back on our own. That gave us more time for lunch so I popped into Scoma's to see if we could get a table. We lucked out because they had just opened and had their reservation folks flowing in. We lucked out with a table on the covered porch overlooking the water and the golden gate bridge. This ended up being a pricey lunch, but we went all out and considered it one of our spendy meals on the trip. We started with cocktails and the Sausalito Oyster. These things were delicious but so big. They're loaded with cheese and you get 4 to an order. Plus they start you with delicious sourdough bread so plan accordingly when ordering for two. We had the scallops with the creamiest mashed potatoes and broccolini and the crab louie salad (probably the most expensive item at around $65 I think). The salad was a large portion too and they weren't shy with the crab. We made sure to pick it all out to make sure we only left greens behind. From the beautiful views, top notch service, and excellent food, this was an all around win. Five star meal and a highlight of our day in Sausalito.

Yelp
My now husband and I love to visit Scoma Sausalito for a romantic / small group dinner. We've brought friends and family here, everyone has enjoyed the ambiance. I called ahead for a reservation between 6-8 PM for a group of 5 and was able to secure a spot at 7:15 PM for my family. I recommend planning ahead for parking as street spots are scarce and the local public lot is $25 flat rate on the weekend. My family enjoyed the - calamari fritte - clam chowder - raw oyster - chianti braised waygu short ribs - lobster risotto - linguine con vongole -linguini frutti di mare linguine con vongole was a bit heavy on chili flakes but I enjoyed the linguini frutti di mare Pro tip: if you are passing by from Napa, bring your favorite wine to enjoy during dinner!

Yelp
Today was our second visit within two months, and our meal, the service, and the ambiance did not disappoint! I don't think we'll ever go back to the City again! The staff - ALL of the staff- are incredible. Everyone is friendly, gracious, professional, and hospitable! SoS is a small restaurant, very quaint and intimate. The views are spectacular, and I enjoy walking through the galley and seeing the kitchen staff pump out meal after meal with delicious precision. We always make a reservation and usually request a table with a panoramic view of the Bay, and so far, staff has accommodated our request. Today, Maria was our waitress, and I can't say enough about her upbeat personality, attention to detail, and sense of humor. After explaining the menu specials, we were immediately ready to order both appetizers--fried calamari and crabcakes - which tasted excellent. The calamari is undoubtedly the best we have ever eaten, so we purposefully came back to order it again. The squid came to the table piping hot and crispy, seasoned well, and melted-in-your-mouth delicious. Our entrees were Lobster Rissuto, Short Ribs with Polenta, and grilled chicken sando on ciabatta with fresh, crunchy slaw. The Rissuto was decadent and creamy, the Short Ribs fork-full after fork-full melted in your mouth, and the grilled chicken breast/jack cheese sando was moist and flavorful with a generous amount of butter, mayo, and avocado on the lightly toasted bun to immediately make me smile. I only ate half the sando -open-face style, but I just went ahead and ate the top half of the buttery bun, too- just because I could! After giving us time to digest our meal and chat with Maria about the blessings and importance of family and true friends' lives, she treated us to a small glass of Limoncello Liqueur. As we toasted to good health, family, and prosperity, we said our thank yous and well wishes. We will certainly be back to dine again!

Yelp
What can I say... As usual, the drinks service and food were incredible. The views you get in this restaurant are mind blowing, you cannot beat the ambience either. This building has a long history and we could not stop wondering, the things that took place here. This time I had the lobster risotto and I seriously did not want it to end! My girlfriend is a chicken sandwich fanatic, and she was really pleased with her sandwich. We had the fried mushrooms for an appetizer and I had the beet salad. The fried mushrooms were delicious and that little dipping sauce was perfect. Unfortunately, the beet salad didn't really do it for me. It wasn't bad at all, just not enough beets for my taste, but that's just my taste. If you make a reservation, which I highly recommend you do, try to get the window seat.

Yelp
The location is cute, with nice indoor and outdoor seatings. Waiters were friendly but kind of busy. They were particularly eager to take away the empty plates for some reason. All the dishes tasted wonderful with layers of flavors. The ribs melt in our mouths. HOWEVER, all three of us eating at the restaurant got diarrhea the next day...We ate a bunch of other things together too, so I'm not 100% sure if Scoma's is the cause. It was just the last place we went to before we felt sick. FYI.

Yelp
I love this place! The staff are super friendly. The inside looks very old school and nostalgic. You can also sit outside and enjoy the view. I ordered the clam chowder bowl. The clam chowder is delicious full of clams. The sourdough bread was good as well. Get the calamari. It's a must.

Yelp
Reserved this place for a lunch to celebrate my partner's birthday. This restaurant is located by the oceans so it's a great place to dine with a view of the ocean. Hog island oysters (5/5): Super fresh and plump Beau soleil, New Brunswick (5/5): Smaller than the hog island, but I really loved how sweet it was. Deep fried Buratta (5/5): I was so glad our server recommend this is. It was perfect as it was cheesy and crunchy. The tomato sauce was great too. Lazy Cioppino (5/5): I love cioppino, so I was super excited to try this. It comes with so much seafood including salmon, squid, Dungeness crab, mussels, clams, etc. the tomato broth tasted with less flavor than usual but still hearty. Linguini con vongole(4/5): This linguini dish comes with plentiful amounts of clams. It's also marinated white wine butter. I thought the sauce lacked flavor. Really enjoyed my experience and the view here.

Yelp
Food is great! The ambiance is amazing! Who doesn't like the view in Sausalito. Servers are awesome!

Yelp
We had a beautiful view from our window table and spectacular service. They put as many tables as they could possibly fit into the space, so it's not super intimate. The cocktails are great but the food was just okay. Strawberry Salad and Beet Salad were okay. Dungeness crab spaghetti - pasta was mushy, had too much sauce, and couldn't taste the crab at all. Seafood Risotto was okay. For dessert we had the Torta Sette Veli, which came covered in strawberries that were not listed on the menu description, and was just okay. Sorry, Scoma's. I was expecting more.

Yelp
Drove a little further out of the city to avoid the tourists. After you walk past BEAUTIFUL homes facing the water, you'll see Scoma's! There was a few tables when we sat so we were helped right away. We ordered a few pasta's and appetizers. Seafood here is always expected to be fresh! Our waiter was even nice enough to serve us the cake we bought to celebrate a birthday!

Yelp
A great find! I visited Sausalito this weekend. The weather was beautiful for a meal outside by the water. Scoma's was so cute we decided to have lunch on the deck overlooking the water. The food was fantastic. It came out piping hot. The linguini was perfectly al dente and the seafood was tender and flavorful. My friend had the Ling Cod and thought it was fantastic. The service was very good. They checked on us often which I liked. I highly recommend this restaurant. It added so much to our road trip!

Yelp
This place has the best calamari ever! It was crunchy and fresh! My girlfriend and I were both agreed that it is the best dish (for calamari) we have ever had. Our server was friendly and wonderful, he also gave us the complimentary dish for our anniversary. And of course, you can not go wrong with the table by the window. The view was amazing. Definitely worth visiting and revisiting.

Yelp
I really love this place. We had a great table in the back dining room with an amazing view. Our server was friendly and kind and was very efficient. I loved that we had our appetizers and were able to enjoy them and our drinks without feeling rushed to order our mains. It was perfect because the food came out quickly. We had the Beau Soleil oysters, fried calamari, prawn cocktail, scallops, lobster risotto, sesame ahi and linguini with clams. The bread is so good too wish my bread at home was that good. It was the best food with friends and a beautiful day to enjoy the view! Thank you Scomas for keeping this place alive! It's my favorite.

Yelp
Went on a weekday around 1pm, very few customers in this beautiful restaurant right on the water! Our servers were all very nice and attentive. As this place is right next to the ocean it's not surprising the menu is seafood centric. Sitting at the corner tables right next to the windows facing the ocean, the atmosphere of the restaurant is a very suitable for a date meal! The clam chowder in sourdough bread bowl was super taste! Lots of clam and the saltiness was right on point. We also ordered steamed clam in white wine and it's very tasty with all the basil! Last but not least the Cioppino was perfect for gloomy weather days, the warm tomato based soup with so much seafood in it. It's just a short walk from the Sausalito downtown center parking lot, this seafood restaurant cannot be missed!

Yelp
11/2/2023 Birthday Celebration for the boyfriend! Surprised my boyfriend with a reservation here at Scoma. This was both our first time at this restaurant. Parking was actually pretty easy to find on the street. The area is amazing! The weather was perfect! We walked into the restaurant and was immediately greeted. The host was like it looks like we are celebrating a birthday and I quickly pointed to my boyfriend haha the host walked us to our table and we had to walk through the kitchen which was actually very nice. We were seated at our table and the area was pretty tight but the view was spectacular. We were then greeted by our waiter. He went over the special and let us look over the menu. When the waiter came back to check on us we were ready to order. My boyfriend ordered a Shirley temple and I ordered a cucumbers kiss to drink. For appetizers we ordered the following: dungeness crab & oregon bay shrimp cakes- These were amazing but it only comes with two. Just a heads up if you have more than two people in your party will need to order more. Oyster Sausalito- These were the closest thing to charboiled oysters but never the same of course. Hog island oyster- These were okay. I've never had raw oysters before so they were okay. beau soleil, new brunswick- I would say these were better than the Hog island oysters. For our entrees: my boyfriend ordered the new york steak- My boyfriend cleaned his plate! He thought it was delicious. I ordered the Chianti Braised waygu short rib- I also cleaned my plate! I'm still thinking about this meal. I would go back just for this meal. The dessert they provided for my boyfriend was surprisingly really good! Some restaurants provide vanilla ice cream but this vanilla ice cream was like creamy and way better than a lot of restaurants. I would go back again and again! I would have to say this was a successful birthday dinner :)

Yelp
We came here to celebrate two adult birthdays. Beautiful restaurant and very accommodating for a party of 7. The service and staff were great and very friendly. The food was outstanding and delicious. As pictured they were flavor haven for the mouth.

Yelp
Came for a birthday lunch with my two dear friends. Our server, Yousef, was the nicest and sweetest person ever. We love him very much. He took great care of us and even offered to take photos for us next to the water! Also shout out to Bobby and the rest of the staff. Love this place. the lobster risotto was to die for (as well as the company. )

Yelp
Went on a Monday at 5:30. Walked right in. Such a cute restaurant! We got a white bottle of wine, should have been put on ice but we asked and they did. Server was polite and food was, how would I say, delicate. Clam chowder was amazing, the crab and shrimp cakes were good as well with the sauce. I got the scallops, they were good but not a ton of flavor, but it was tasty and what I expected, upscale and cooked well, flavored mixed well. Beautiful spot, I think there was a front area I didn't get to see but saw people going back there that maybe had a better view. Beautiful little place, great date restaurant.

Yelp
Scoma's is a beautiful restaurant right on the water and in the heart of a bustling street! There's a paid parking lot ~5 min walk away that we parked at when we came on a busy Saturday afternoon. After making reservations online, we were seated quickly inside (a great choice, especially as it's getting chillier) with a superb view of the water! The service is fast and kind, and came out with a bread plate as appetizer. For the food itself, we ordered 4 oysters off the daily menu, the clam chowder, and lobster risotto. The oysters were good (my favorite were the Hog Island ones), and the clam chowder average. The risotto was fine -- but we were expecting something more for the price! The presentation wasn't noteworthy and the rice wasn't especially soft. The views were fantastic though!
google avatar

Jessica Z.

Yelp
The views here are beautiful, and despite the long indoor wait, we decided to sit outside and enjoy the scenery, and it made for a really amazing lunch. I wanted seafood as one does in Sausalito, so we ordered mussels, calamari, and the sole for our entree. The service was amazing, and they kept bringing us their delicious bread and was very nice when explaining the options. We were able to split the sole, and for extra couple dollars, we were able to get them to split the dish and add a few more pieces of fish and sides. The sole was cooked really well, and it was super flaky and tender. Everything tasted fresh and flavorful, and despite the higher price point, I think it was worth to try a little bit of everything we got.

Yelp
Having been to Scoma's in San Francisco, I decided to try out the Sausalito location. The restaurant sits right on the water and offers great views of the city skyline. They had outdoor seating, but we decided to sit inside to avoid the wind. The interior was lighter than the San Francisco location, but still had an old-timey vibe. We skipped drinks and decided to share some small plates for dinner - the Calamari Fritte, Tempura Portobello Mushrooms with Romesco Sauce, and Dungeness Crab & Oregon Bay Shrimp Cakes. Service was fast and we were given complimentary Sourdough Bread with butter, which was very tasty. The Calamari Fritte was my favorite of our three items - perfectly cooked, great tartar sauce. The Dungeness Crab & Oregon Bay Shrimp Cakes were also pretty good, but not the best I've ever had. For me, the Tempura Portobello Mushrooms was a bit disappointing. The breading was way too heavy to get the mushroom flavor. However, the Romesco Sauce was tasty. Overall, this meal didn't quite live up to its price tag, but I guess you're really paying for the views and location.

Yelp
We showed up in Scoma's unplanned. The plan was to go to San Refile to drop off my husband's car and go to SF , BUT since it took longer Sausalito was closer. We had my 2.5 years old son with us. The staff are so friendly . The owner or the manager , I believe sat us down and the high chair was available rightaway plus the coloring papers . We had little bit of everything. Fresh oysters, clam chowder , Dungeness, crab, spaghetti, and lobster risotto. Kids menu had fillet desol, I think I am misspelling it. My son ate it all. Completely different menus for kids which was really yummy and nutritionist. Glass of rosé went well with everything. Their fresh oysters were delicious. Everything was great but what made it perfect was how the staff were from the person who sat us down to the person who served us drinks , food and picked up after my son every time he dropped something , they all had a smile on their faces. It was busy but they made sure that we were taken care off. Thank you for all you do and you are truly appreciated.

Yelp
Spent the day in Sausalito and came here for dinner. The inside is cozy and there is lots of seating. The service was fast, although our server only checked on us once during the meal and then when he offered us dessert menus. On the plus side, they do offer free bread! We got the Alaskan Halibut Livornese and the Lobster Risotto. The sauce with the halibut was a tomato based sauce and it was good, but I think my halibut was a little overcooked. The Lobster Risotto was super good and rich. We noted in our reservation that we were celebrating and anniversary and our waiter was super nice and let us choose a dessert off the menu to celebrate. We ended up getting the tiramisu, which was really good, and he comped it! This is definitely a great place for a nice dinner or to celebrate any occasion.

Yelp
Had to remake this cause I didn't realize there were two scoma's location but good to know. Came here on a warm sunny Sunday afternoon, always like coming out to Sausalito on a nice day like this. We had a reservation at 12:30 and they seated us outside by the water which was really nice. We started off with their oysters which I'm always a fan of getting everytime I'm here because of their mignonette sauce which is perfect. We then tried a new menu item which were the coconut curry mussels which had a really nice sauce that you could even dip your bread in after you finish the mussels. Would recommend getting it if you like mussels. Next, we each got a clam chowder bowl and it was really delicious and tasted very hearty. For my main I decided to go with the linguini and it was very flavorful. They gave a generous portion of seafood which was nice and was still good after taking it back home and heating it up. Overall, it's always a nice vibe when I come out to scoma's and their service is always good.

Yelp
It's been quite a few years since I've eaten at Scoma's. Unbelievably nothing has changed! It's got great service and excellent food. Their bread is terrific. I had the Cioppino and it was so tasty. I'm not a fan of calamari so I asked them to prepare it without calamari and they accommodated me without a problem.
google avatar

Millie B.

Yelp
My husband's birthday dinner was celebrated at Scoma's and we had a great time. Our server was attentive and we felt taken cared of from start to finish. All the dishes we ordered were good with the Cioppino as a stand out. While I told my son to order seafood, he opted for New York steak which was also tasty. Don't skip the clam chowder, that's also really good. I didn't get a chance to snap a picture Parking can be an issue as there"s limited street parking. There's a pay lot a few feet away that closes at 9pm.

Yelp
A quaint restaurant situated in the most perfect location in downtown Sausalito. The unobstructed views of the San Francisco skyline paired with delicious Italian food, Scoma's is the ideal dinner spot for those who want to take in the beauty of the Bay Area. I came here on a Sunday night, when the restaurant was still bustling with customers, to celebrate my birthday. My boyfriend requested a seat by the window in his reservation and the table location did not disappoint. We had a beautiful view of the water and the SF skyline, ultimately making our experience that much more special and romantic. FOOD: As we were in the mood for seafood, we ordered one appetizer and two mains: the Dungeness Crab & Oregon Bay Shrimp Cakes, Lobster Risotto, and Linguine Con Vongole. The crab and shrimp cakes were an absolute treat; the texture just melts in your mouth and you can definitely taste the crab flavor. Both mains were piping hot when they arrived at our table, so we were excited to dive in to the freshly cooked food. My linguine was perfection, which a generous serving of clam mixed in with the pasta. I loved the white wine sauce as it was simple yet flavorful. My boyfriend's risotto was so colorful and addictive; bite after bite, we couldn't get enough of the flavor. SERVICE: I enjoyed spending time at Scoma's, eating good food and watching boats pass by on the water with the city skyline in the back. While I was there, I was already thinking about when to return and who to bring with me next!

Yelp
My wife treated me to dinner at Scoma's for a birthday celebration. The location of the restaurant with its view is immaculate I enjoyed the New York Steak and my wife is vegetarian and had the Vegan Squash dish. We had complimentary sourdough bread that was good but would have been wonderful if it was toasty to easily melt the butter. The service was attentive and friendly. We look forward to returning:)

Yelp
We've walked by this restaurant so many times over the years, and it just popped into my mind to take my husband here for his birthday yesterday. We had a table for two by a window on the water with a beautiful view of Tiburon and Angel Island. Watched numerous boats on a very windy evening, including 3 outrigger canoes racing (?), and a seal peeked its head up out of the water for a bit. The restaurant is in a charming well-maintained old wooden building hanging over the water, built in 1904 apparently (fun to read about its history). Back room, where we were, was very cozy. While the room eventually filled up, the sound level was fine. Staff was friendly and attentive. Food was Very good. We order the beet salad to share as a starter - very flavorful and pretty. For the entree, my husband ordered the Lazy Cioppino, a seafood stew. He can be picky about restaurant food and really liked it. I had the Linguine con Vongole (clams). The clams were on the shell still. Both dishes had just the right amount of heat (spice), a nice touch. The sourdough bread had a good "sourness" to it and a crunchy crust. For dessert he ordered the tiramisu and I the Torta Sette Veli, both excellent. All in all a really enjoyable dining experience. This restaurant does not pander to the tourist crowd, like many restaurants in similar locations do. Given this location and the quality of food and service, the cost was reasonable for a special occasion. We'll be back.

Yelp
Came here last Saturday evening for a 5pm reservation. Started at a very small table that I didn't enjoy so the manager who was very accommodating moved us into the main dining area. Staff was very attentive and fast. We wanted to enjoy the moment so we had our server slow down some just so we can enjoy our food and time. We started with the crab cakes that were delicious along with the Gambia's Gambas con Ajillo that was super flavorful. For our entrees we had the lobster risotto that was amazing along with the scallops also a great choice. For dessert we had panna cotta. Definitely a 5 star experience. The only thing I wish they had was better parking. Parking was horrible so we just valet the car. All in all great experience

Yelp
When in Sausalito, Scoma's is a solid option for a dinner along the water. We felt the service was very good - our waiter was attentive and the food did not take too long to come out. The two items I ordered were pretty good, but I may not order them again if I were to come back. Sea Scallops - 3/5 For about $35 you get 4 small scallops. It's a bit pricey but I will give credit - the scallops were very tasty! The majority of the plate was the mashed potatoes and broccolini. Both could have used an additional sauce or garnish to go with it to make it more interesting, but they were still good for what they were. Just know that you are paying for mashed potatoes mostly lol, but no major complaints otherwise. Oysters Sausalito - 3/5 Their ode to oysters rockafeller was a very rich, cheesy take on baked oysters. They were flavorful and the taste was balanced, but it is super rich so I don't think I could have more than 1 at a time. They were a bit watery however, so I had a little issue with the texture. Underneath the baked layer, it felt a little too wet (I know I know, what should I expect from oysters? Well, I still think they can be baked to perfection without over or under drying out the under-layer) TL;DR - 3 stars for food (I'm judging a bit more harshly due to the higher price point), bumped up to a 4 for nice service and an even nicer view!

Yelp
Think - view of breathtaking SFO coastline, a spicy Margarita in one hand and a bite of delicious crab cake! I mean how can you not love Scoma's!!! Amazing views paired with awesome food! Perfect place for a romantic date on a lazy afternoon. Charming ambience. Impeccable service. We got the Spicy margarita and Watermelon cooler for our drinks! Spicy margarita is literally spicy and a must order. Crab cakes and Clam chowder in a bread bowl were delicious. Star of the show was the Lobster Risotto! Must order if you are a risotto fan! And that chocolate hazelnut cake was mouth watering. Do not forget to order your dessert! It is undoubtedly a restaurant worth visiting. Please reserve a table before hand. It will save you the hassle of the wait!

Yelp
Scoma's!! Such a wonderful place to eat. There's no outdoor that looks out to SF in the back that's all indoor. The indoor views are great as well. The service is outstanding (minus water refills I was thirsty lol). The crab cakes were 10/10. Lobster risotto was amazing and came with a nice bit of lobster. The salmon plate was incredible too. What an amazing experience here. Unlimited bread was lit.

Yelp
Excellently-prepared, fresh food was well worth the cost. The crab cakes were perfect, as were the sole and chicken. Delicious sides and vegetables. Our server helped us navigate the menu and she and the other staff were very attentive without being intrusive. We are very covid-aware and felt comfortable eating inside because of the high ceilings and well-spaced tables. Easy walk from public parking and nice views!

Yelp
I'm a big fan of this restaurant. I've been here twice now and found that I like everything about it: the location, staff and menu! I enjoy appetizer menu sampling and this place has the best seafood bites. I recommend the fam as con ajillo. The clam chowder is fantastic and also a must to start the dining.

Yelp
This is a great place to dine in for special occasions. Be sure to make a reservation ahead of time just in case. I came here on a Saturday evening for an early dinner at 5pm. The place was half empty since it was still early. For a party of 2, we ordered an appetizer and one entrée for each of us. The portion was perfect and everything came out very hot and presentable. The 3 menu items we ordered were all from the special menu of the day. The portion was perfect and the food was delicious. The seafood we got, which was calamari, sea bass, and halibut, were all perfectly cooked, tasted fresh, and went really well with the sauce of the dish. It could get pretty loud if the place is packed since the tables are not too far from each other but luckily majority of the tables cleared out not too long after we got seated. The staff were all very well dressed and attentive. I really enjoyed dinning here and highly recommend this place!

Yelp
Scoma's of Sausalito is truly a lovely restaurant with a view of the San Francisco skyline. The dishes come in good portions, flavorful, maybe a bit pricey, but excellent in taste and presentation. We ordered fried calamari and gambas for starters. Yes, Pinot noir! Pear salad as well. Then, we shared lazy cioppino and frutti di mare. We didn't have desserts ... we ordered Mexican Coca Cola instead. Such a filling lunch for two! I would like to compliment the restaurant staff for being polite and extra attentive. Always a nice bonus to have in a restaurant! Oh, may I suggest, too, that you can take the 30-minute ferry ride from San Francisco. What an experience!

Yelp
5 stars are not enough for the delicious foods I had today!!! From the first person contact to the end of service, service was outstanding!!! I asked for a window table with a view, because of their busy lunch crowd, I thought the wait would be at least an hour or more. We received a text just after 20 minutes!! And we were seated right by a window with a view of the bay facing San Francisco and Sausalito!!! What an amazing view!! The water was calm, boats sailing, just the perfect view! Once we were seated, I was checking out the foods people had ordered to give me some kind of idea of what I would like to order. I saw a man who ordered half order of crab that looked very enticing!! Okay I thought to myself, crab is a must. I wanted to try their Clam Chowder in a bread bowl, and Portobello Mushrooms Tempura Style with Chiles Sauce. And now of course, CRAB but a WHOLE CRAB hot garlic roasted. The warm sourdough bread arrived with soft butter to ready our taste buds and tummies for the yummy food about the arrive!!!! First came the Clam Chowder a bread bowl, the first spoonful was creamy with fresh clams, potatoe, and celery, it was delectable!!! I had to quickly have another spoon!!! This is one of the best Clam Chowders I have tasted!!! If you come to Scoma's, you must order their Clam Chowder!! Then the Tempura Portobello Mushrooms came, piping hot and crispy!!! I love deep fried goodness crispy and hot!!! It had the perfect crunch!! For some reason, we never thought of Tempura'ing portobello mushrooms???? But we will not add them to our list of Tempura'able things!!!! The sauce was perfect, it had a small bite to it, with a smoky chile taste. Then came the Dungeness Crab Garlic Roasted!!!!! It smelled garlicky and buttery!!!!! We quickly dove into the bowl of HOT CRAB!!! I cracked the legs and picked out the meat, my first bit was of sweet crab with roasted garlic, delicious!!!! We were praying the flavor of the crab an d garlic!!! I had to concentrate of eating, and I kinda went silent for a bit to enjoy the crab!! This does not happen too often folks!!! I then looked out the window to enjoy the view, then got back into eating the crab!! What a perfect meal!!! The meal concluded with lemon wedges and hot towels to wipe away the butter, and garlic that had drenched our fingers and hands. What a perfect day!!! Beautiful view, excellent service, and yum yum yummy food!!!!

Yelp
I must go with 5 Stars for this restaurant. After a couple of intense days of business, Mrs. E scheduled a bus tour of SF with a drop off in Sausalito then a ferry ride back to SF and Fisherman's Wharf. So after the drop of in Sausalito we decide to spend the day there, have a nice dinner and take a later ferry back. After a few adventures we opt for an early dinner before the ferry. Now there are no shortage of restaurants in Sausalito and all seem to have good reviews. We settle on Somas with a "thumbs Up" from Yelp. We're told a 30 minute wait which we're ok with. We find a bench on the rear deck of the restaurant and after a phone call with one of my children with a lot of Drama, I get a call that our table is ready. Perfect timing. A good excuse to end the phone call. We are seated at a table for two with great views. Maria is out waitress and very knowledgeable and accommodating. My wife opts for the crab cakes with Dungenous Crab and Shrimp, and a beet salad. She loved it. She's still talking about it. I had the special, A large Dungenous Crab. The crab was dissected into claws and knuckles. It was beyond excellent. Maria kept checking to make sure we we satisfied with everything. She also has a charming Italian accent. That's my people. We finished with capuchino and a cannoli. This meal on top of a relaxing day was just fabulous. Maria also gave us a little history on the restaurant. Been there for 53 years. Original owner retired and his son now runs the restaurant. In business it's been documented that second generation businesses usually don't succeed, but in this case it appears fine. In fact we were told the the son can be very demanding with food quality. My kind of guy. A lot of restaurants in Sausalito but if, no when I go back I'll definitely be eating here. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Yelp
I stopped by Scoma's of Sausalito on a day trip to Sausalito! It's such a cute establishment, situated on a dock with large windows to let the light in the dining area. The ocean views are also really nice! We were seated promptly due to our reservation and we came for a brunch / lunch. Warm bread was provided and it was delicious with the butter! We ordered a dozen oysters to start , they were so fresh and I loved them. 5/5 Next, we also ordered the lobster risotto along with an order of the halibut. So so delicious!! The lobster risotto was so comforting and homey of a dish, and as someone who gets tired of mushy foods pretty fast, I would say that the risotto had enough components that didn't make me tired of it after a few bites. It was sprinkled with peas, lobster chunks, cherry tomatoes, and spinach. So hearty and delicious! 5/5 The halibut was presented upon a pile of roasted squash, potatoes, and carrots--it was so yummy as well. The halibut was cooked evenly and had a nice char to the flavor. I loved how the fish paired with the squash, carrots, and potatoes! They complemented each other well. 5/5 Overall, 5/5 stars because I loved everything! Loved my visit and will be coming back for sure.

Yelp
Made dinner reservations for my birthday dinner & we really enjoyed our dining experience. Wish we were able to sit by the windows for a better view but they were all occupied, of course. Honestly, the views were still great & we walked on the deck afterwards. We ordered the oyster Sausalito, lazy ciopinno & linguine con vongole - all so delicious. Without asking, our server provided each of us a bowl which I loved since we could easily share the meals. Generous portions of seafood in the ciopinno & plenty of clams in the vongole. Our server was attentive & thoughtful. Although we passed on dessert, they surprised me with a yummy serving of vanilla ice cream with some chocolate drizzle for my birthday. Honestly, I prefer ice cream over cake anyway. Can't wait to dine here again!

Yelp
First time being back at Scoma's for years. Was really impressed with the food. On this trip I came with my son and he ordered the Sole off of the kids menu and I had the linguine con vongole. I also ordered a few oysters as an appetiser. I had a few bites of my sons sole and it was cooked nicely. Had a bid of caramelisation and the caper sauce was fantastic. He really enjoyed the mashed potatoes that came with the fish. The linguini was also excellent. The broth was extremely flavourful and the clams were fresh. Just what I was looking for in a linguini vongole. If you order an ice tea or soda there are free refills which is nice. They also have free bread which is not always the case anymore. The restaurant is located right in the pier and if you are close to a window you can have a nice view of San Francisco. Great place to have a date night or take the family out for lunch.

Yelp
Scomas is a cute waterfront restaurant in Sausalito. We came on Easter Sunday around 2pm and only had to wait about 30 minutes to get seated. Our waiter was funny and friendly and made great suggestions on the food. Also extra points because he kept the table bread coming :D 1/2 Dozen Oysters: We got 3 of the hog island oysters and 3 of the fanny bay oysters they were both super delicious, plump, and fresh but the fanny bay were my favorite. Clam Chowder: 10/10 thick, creamy, full of chunky clams Lobster Risotto: this was my least favorite of the three dishes we tried only because I felt like there was too much going on in the dish that overpowered the lobster taste. It had Canadian lobster, onion, garlic, spinach, tomato, trumpet mushrooms, chicken stock, tarragon. I probably would've enjoyed it sans the spinach tomato /and/ mushroom. It was still good, the lobster just wasn't the star of the show. Overall it's a great place to visit in Sausalito and I'll definitely come back for more oysters and clam chowder!

Yelp
Scoma's of Sausalito is still one of the best restaurants in the Bay Area. You cannot beat the ambiance with breathtakingly expansive City views across the bay. We must have had one of the very best tables in the house, which, for a special Valentines's Day lunch was absolutely amazing. Our server, Maria, who has been there for about 20 years, added a sweet touch. Her service is perfect. Attentive, friendly, intuitive, and lovely. The cuisine was delicious and visually spectacular. The clam chowder, unlike Scoma's in The City, only had clams, without added pancetta. The caesar salad was old style and could not have been better, plus ample enough to take some home. One of the Valentine specials was a ravioli con amore set on heart shaped pasta slices and filled with lobster and cheese. The plate itself was strewn with an array of beautiful editable flowers. Wish we could give it 10!stars!

Yelp
Saw this cute restaurant along the water as my mom and I strolled by. Wasn't sure where to eat but decided let's take a look at the menu. It ended looking ok, so we went inside. Nice ambiance and decor and we were seated. My mom knew what she wanted and ordered the clam chowder. I normally don't like it, bcuz I'm lactose intolerant but I tried mine and loved it so much that I ordered my own appetizer bowl. So yum. If soup wasn't w ouch , my mom ordered the Cioppino and wanted to share. Sure, why not. Food was great. The server was friendly.

Yelp
My visit to Scoma's of Sausalito during Fleet Week left me with a mixed but overall positive impression. The restaurant's prime location is perfect for tourists, although it can get quite crowded. What sets them apart is their dog-friendly policy, which is a real plus and a strong incentive for me to return. The staff at Scoma's were not only nice but also incredibly respectful, even during the hustle and bustle of a busy day. They managed the crowd efficiently and ensured that tables were cleared promptly. The warm bread they served was a delightful touch that I appreciated. While I'm not particularly fond of calamari cooked in sauce, their rendition didn't quite hit the mark for me. However, the bread bowl they offered was fantastic, so much so that I forgot to snap an "after" picture as I eagerly tore into it. In summary, Scoma's of Sausalito is an ideal spot to bring friends or visiting partners who seek a lovely view of the bay. While the dishes might be hit or miss, the overall experience, dog-friendly policy, and the charming location make it a worthwhile destination for a day out in Sausalito.
