I admit that it took me a long time to visit this Scoops location. They're currently operating in what was the former Flying Squirrel, and seeing the Flying Squirrel close was a big bummer at the time. But time heals all wounds, right?
This is one of multiple Scoops locations in the Pittsburgh area, and it's as good as all the others. I especially like the look and feel of this storefront since they didn't do a major overhaul of the former business. While much of the shelving from the old toy store is gone, the space generally has the same beautiful look and cozy feelings as the Flying Squirrel.
Like the other Scoops locations, they offer both ice cream and frozen yogurt (although the focus is definitely on the ice cream, versus just a handful of yogurt flavors). And like the other Scoops locations, they offer a good mix of the usual flavorful suspects (gotta have chocolate ice cream, after all) as well as some others that carry their own special twist.
When I've visited, I've gotten my ice cream to go, although there is some limited indoor seating. And I expect that I'll be visiting again in the near future now that we're heading into the spring and summer months - nothing beats cold ice cream on a hot day, after all!
