Scotty's on the Strand

Food here is very average. Fruits were tasty as well as french fries and burger but omelets and eggs benedict/florentine are not good, I wouldn’t recommend ordering those. You can see the ocean from inside which is good and this place is crowded and a bit loud. Waitresses are very nice. This restaurant is ok to try once and see if you find something tasty for yourself but I will not eat here anymore

I enjoyed the food so much and the relaxed vibe. We visited twice over the weekend for breakfast and lunch. We got the chilaquiles and I've been searching for good chilaquiles up and down California. These are #1! their food tastes fresh, warm, and tasty overall. The serving sizes were great and the service was good. 100% recommended to those looking for a bite on this area. We did try other restaurants but none were "come-back" worthy like this one

Worst place ever, the pico de gallo was rotten, the cucumbers in the salad were slimy, no joke, there was a hair in the flour tortillas and the chicken fajitas were so salty , they didn’t give us napkins for the food we wanted to spit out 😩🤢 and we didn’t even get a discount, I don’t recommend this place. At least the hostess and the server were kind girls. The management needs to be careful and get rid of the food that is not good to sell, what I think is they use the leftovers from the weekend, I guess they don’t want to waste anything but if you want the customers to have a good experience and come back , everything must be fresh.

First time I went to this place and love it! The menu has many options, the waiters are friendly and serve quickly. They charge a fee for paying with credit card but it is reasonable. Atmosphere is great to relax while eating. We ordered scampi, cheeseburger with avocado and grilled cheese sandwich. Second time we visit this place, this time for breakfast. We order Redondo breakfast and Country Breakfast.

I'm sure some of their other food is decent, but I ordered Tony's Special and it was far from special. To put it plainly, it's an embarrassment to the restaurant that they charge money for this dish. It consists of probably microwaved sausage patties, potatoes, eggs, a slice of American cheese, and salsa ("Spanish sauce"). Service and overall atmosphere was fine but I wound up just paying and leaving to find a better brunch.

This is an excellent local hangout. Food ranges from acceptably good to excellent depending on the dish/day. I love this type of spot. It's a no frills family-friendly hangout that is inviting, not trendy. Breakfast was stellar the last time I visited, though dinner is good, too.

My friend for over 40 years, and I had the honor of walking down the strand to find a delicious breakfast spot for our last meal together before I had to drive back home to Paso Robles. Hermosa Beach was our hangout; she has lived there over 30 years and I love visiting her. We went to breakfast here and I asked if we can bring in Frankie (little doggy she was babysitting) and they welcomely invited us in the back. They greeted us with warm smiling hospitality, sat us right away, brought a water dish for Frankie, were greeted by the waitress with a smile, menu's and delicious coffee. We truly enjoyed the meal and even took some back for lunch later. Being in the hospitality field (Central Coast Party Helpers) I'm watching everything and was completely enamoured at the whole wonderful experience. I would highly recommend Scotty's for everyone!

My gut feel when finding Scotty's on the Strand on Google maps was right! I was recently in the UK and needed a good comparison for Fish and Chips in the US. And the winner? . . . . . . Scotty's on the Strand. The fish was tender, cooked just right. Hot and fresh from the kitchen. Now the chips aren't official British chips, but the fries were well cooked and golden brown with no sign of oil. Alexandra did a great job with customer service, checking in and making suggestions. . . . . . And the view!!!!! What a great way to top off the afternoon.

The food at Scotty's tastes very good, breakfast is always great whenever i'm in hermosa i make sure to have breakfast here at least once. The restaurant is right on the strand and is a great place to people watch.

Located on the Strand, Scotty's has a great view of the Pacific Ocean! It seems to be a family run restaurant. Breakfast was good , and ordered a Bloody Mary . The Bloody Mary was spicy as advertised and it seemed that the Vodka bottle was waved over the glass. Yea it seemed to be all mix‍. I'll get my drinks at a bar. Service was good. The waitresses were attentive enough yet when I asked for hot sauce it was like they went to make it , so I had to ask another server for the hot sauce. That's not gonna break my mood just part of the review. Again being on the beach with good food and mostly good service, come by Scotty's. Btw avoid parking struggles by parking in their lot directly behind the restaurant!

This is a very casual restaurant located right on the strand in Hermosa. Soft rock plays in the background in this busy restaurant. Today was a rather overcast day but the beach and walking path was very busy. The light and clouds gave the day a darker mysterious feel but still beautiful look. Leslie was our server. She was friendly, thoughtful giving prompt & polite service. There is other staff also pursuing the restaurant to be sure your needs are met. The menu is casual beach food. We shared the Calamari and the Mediterranean Salad. The Calamari was crisp & yummy. The Mediterranean Salad was a delight of fresh spinach, red onion, chunks of various vegetables with feta cheese, your choice of dressing. The portions were generous. Scotty's has been an institution at this location for ages and I can see why. I highly recommend them.

Beautiful setting at the beach with great view of the sunset. Top notch service with a smile and really good honest recommendations (rare for any place these days). This is a very casual place so no need to dress up. Limited selection of wine and beer. They have a weekday happy hour that we didn't try with beer and pizza. We did have the grilled fish and chicken piccata, both of which were generous portions and delicious with sides of cole slaw and vegetables. Nothing fancy, everything was done very simply, with prices that reflect that. Great place for families or after a day at the beach.

I ordered 2 eggs sausage and pancake Sever never came to see if we were ok-service sucked! Food was terrible...i didn't get the warm syrup The coffee was terrible We went here bc we wanted a basic breakfast Beach ambiance

Tasty or WasteY??? WasteY!!!!!!! This place is one of those old restaurants that I like to refer to as, "Sticky tables" no matter how many times they wipe the table down with the same towel that smells like mildew, your arms still stick to the table. This place was so dirty. The booths were old and grimy. The owner was sitting in a corner booth talking to people, as if, he was proud of this place. We only ordered potato skins. Because we were so grossed out. But we needed a parking space and you have to buy something to park in the parking lot. I would not recommend this place and I would never go back. He should shut it down for a couple of days and hire a cleaning company

Loved sitting outside on the patio to eat. I think our server was named Rene loved her. The food was really good great portions. The breakfast as super taste. Will try lunch next time.

(1 star is for the plastics )Came here to enjoy the day. I ordered # 17. International Omelette Breakfast and the potatoes. In between the egg and potatoes there was a long crispy piece of bacon ... it was rugged and couldn't break apart, I spit the stuff out and it sure was plastic lining of a a wrapper of sorts. Becareful with microplastics yall ... I informed the server and it was just another day for her with no care in the world for plastic contamination in the food. Service is good and fast like 5 stars... but do they care about plastics in your food ... not really

Delicious comfort food with a view that can't be beat. If you're looking for a beachy breakfast spot where you can linger over a coffee and an omelette, this is definitely the place to go. They have a wonderful selection of breakfast foods and great diner- ish items on the menu for lunch. The servers and hosts are genuinely friendly and eager to help.

I had the fish taco plate which consisted of two fish tacos with a side of coleslaw. I will gladly order the coleslaw again with its tangy and sweet vinegar-based dressing but I wasn't as pleased with the fish tacos. Considering this place is an old cafe/diner, I did not expect the fish to be fresh. However, I did not expect the fish to have the freezer burn taste or spongy texture either. The restaurant is located on the Strand, next to the pier, and service is fast and friendly. Food quality could be a lot better.

Great fried calamari! I also had the fish and chips. It was very good also. Bothe could have used a little more salt. I probably should've got one or the other. A lot of fried food. It was delicious, though. A little pricey but I feel like anything on the beach would be.

Today, we just had a big sit-down party at this restaurant, and booked their private party room on the second floor. Our guests were pleased with the food and hospitality. Venue/Room: It was a nice dining room for a private party, and it was spacious enough for all of our guests (about 45-50 people). We had an amazing beach view from the dining room. We could enjoy the sunset while eating our meals. There was a private restroom in this private party dining room, so we did not have to go downstairs to find a restroom. Very convenient! Food: The food was really delicious. First, we got some bread and butter served on our tables. The outer part of the bread was crispy, and the inside was soft. Next, we got Caesar salad in a giant bowl, followed by the main dishes. I chose the chicken parmesan, and it was really yummy. It came with penne pasta in orange cheesy sauce and some marinated steamed vegetables. The cheese sauce was legit. I think they used some aged parmesan cheese in their cheese sauces. They also put parmesan cheese powder on each table for the guests who wanted extra cheese. Service: The service was great! From the beginning to the end, they served us very well. All the servers were very nice and friendly. They always checked on every table, gave us boxes for leftovers, packed the extra food nicely, provided us bags for the boxes, and were willing to help cut and serve the cake we brought to our party. The cake thing was not in my original party plan when I discussed it with the owner, Vera, and yet the servers were very accommodating. Big thanks to the restaurant owner, Vera, who helped with the menu selections and the event planning (she answered all my questions and requests), and all the restaurant staff who served us tonight!! This was my first time coming to Scotty's On The Strand, and I was very satisfied! Highly recommended for a private party!

What a great location. Coming here for the view and atmosphere is worth it alone. But the food is really good too. A favorite of mine for breakfast with the hustle and bustle of the beach crowd. Love the omelettes and sandwiches.

Our family went there for breakfast and we had a great time. The food was very tasty wasn't too crowded and the service was excellent.

My family and I are on vacation down in California and found this restaurant on the beach. The food was good. Our server was fast and efficient. We enjoyed the view of the beach.

My family and Iave been coming here for on and off for quite a few years and have never been disappointed with the food. However the service is a different story. We waited awhile for our waitress to come which is fine we were in no rush when the server did arrive they took our order. However when it came time to bring the food that was a different story. The person assisting our waitress brought the food. We asked for ranch and they came back with it, however when we asked for ketchup for the fries and the malt vinegar for the fish and chips no one ever came back. We waited over 5 minutes for someone to come then we had to get up and find the server to tell them before they finally brought it. I might come back but I know not to expect the same service as I did in the past.

I ended up here by accident. I couldn't find the initial meeting spot, got perfect parking right in front of Scotty's, and changed the meeting spot right there. I didn't realize what a great view this restaurant had until I walked in. You can enjoy a nice, air-conditioned table with food while people watching. The French dip sandwich was great. It's a go to spot now that I know parking is free and easy to find.

The food here is one of the best I had. If you are ever in Hermosa beach, This place is a must. One of the best service i had in years. And the views of the ocean are so romantic. Definitely a must try for anyone that is a foodie..

Great location. Free parking. Clean. Friendly Decent service Lousy menu. We went with the "Italian" section of the menu. That was our mistake. Fresh salad Absolutely the worst spaghetti I've ever eaten. Sickeningly sweet sauce. The chicken in the marsala was over-dredged and under- seared, leaving it with an unpleasant soggy texture. The flavor of the sauce was passable. The veggies were quite good, as was the baked potato. Maybe the burgers. steaks and seafood are better, and there's not much you can do to mess up breakfast., so I'd likely go back. But whatever you do, don't order any of the "Italian" dishes.

Creative casual beachfront breakfast specials, tasty and generous servings! Right along the Strand with nice views of the people walking along the beach. Perfect beach cafe. Service with a smile!

Service was spotty. Four girls on the floor. MAYBE ten tables and still the bus boy, Enrique was the only one giving us attention. Waited 25 minutes for dinner salads that weren't served until we asked for them which was basically the same time as the entrees came out. Not sure if she forgot or didn't occur to her to serve the salads first. But more than that was the chicken in the Fetuccine Alfredo which cost an extra $7. Totally inedible. Literally. Breast meat but all sinewy and muscle. Left 80% of it on the plate. No idea why the kitchen would serve it. Im a local who has been there many times over the years but I'm not sure I would go back after tonight.

Good food & service ! Being on the strand is great fun watching the beach goers everywhere! Nice variety of dishes. Never had a bad meal there . Managment works the floor as well "Hands On ".

I definitely will not be back. My breakfast was not good at all. I ordered the French toast and they tried to cover the burnt French toast with a pound of powder sugar. I still couldn't eat it.

I was recommended this spot by a coworker of mine so far the waitress has given a bit of attitude and it's not busy at all on a Sunday late afternoon and has taken a good while taking our order, there are a total of 4 workers here and all are standing talking together while I needed a straw, my wife's abondiga soup was great,

A local favorite, if I want to eat on the beach, this is where i'm going. feels like home. i always get the hot chocolate.

Good down home style food and friendly service on the strand. busy location outside during the day and beautiful views. Nothing fancy, just a cozy old school diner atmosphere. The soups and fish and chips are our favorites.

Been here many times over the years. The view is Southern California great. The food and prices are very acceptable. This time the service was lacking. I ordered eggs , hash potatoes and toast. Very complicated for the young overtaxed waitress. Got breakfast and no toast. Tried to get her attention but she was busy talking to two other waitresses by the kitchen. She never came back to see how we were. Eventually she came to remove the dirty plate and I mentioned I never got the ordered toast. Her response was like I offended her and she said " well do you still want it"? Bottom line is management should be embarrassed. Or maybe she's a close relative and they just accept her ineptnesses.

My cousin and I were looking for a place to eat and this place seemed like a great spot. It has a great view of the beach and it was a nice day out - no brainer that we ate outside. The breeze was a bit much at times but overall, a great experience. I ordered the mushroom and cheese omelette and my cousin ordered the ham and cheese omelette. I loved the company and view. Our waitress was very sweet and parking was easy to find. We parked on the street and put money in the meter... but the price for parking compared to other metered parking wasn't bad at all.

Omelette was dry and cheese wasn't melted. Service was wanting. Credit card fee automatically added.

I want to start off my saying that the feel of the restaurant is very nice. It has a lot of sunlight and the decor is that of a cozy brunch place on the beach. Very comfortable. The staff was decent and our food was brought out fairly quickly. HOWEVER, the food being the main component of dining, you cannot rate the experience off of vibe alone. Say no indecent had occurred, I would have given it 3 stars. I ordered the "Scotty's Special" and it was extremely mediocre. It was much too scrambled and fell apart as I was eating it. The hollandaise sauce that came on top was bland. And due to what was probably low quality eggs (conventional- the lowest grade- have a lower omega 3 content resulting in a dull color as seen) the actual omelette portion didn't even taste that good. And to tie it all together, at the end of my meal I found a hair in my food. It appeared to be a beard hair. God forbid it was something else. Unfortunately me and my friend were already off schedule and I didn't want to waste time on a possible rebuttal. Come if you must, otherwise beware!

Food was ok , but we come here for the view. Service- it's a busy spot but it seems like they don't have enough servers. If you come with a big group, they sometimes only give you one server for the entire group- yikes! Hope you didn't come hungry, it took us over 30 mins just to get our drinks and order , and other hour-ish to get our food :(

We love Scotty's! My husband has been coming here since he was a small child. We wish the Strand tables would come back, but we'll keep coming nonetheless.

Scottys is n a perfect location at the beach. Right on the bike/walk-way w/sidewalk seating perfect for people watching. the place seems a bit outdated but i think thts part of its charm. My suggestion...it could use sum cleaning. Seating area was a little dirty, windows were a bit dirty and kinda grundgy. Table wsnt cleaned well. The mimosa flute ws small for the price but its hard to complain about prices when EVERYTHING these days is over priced. It was no exception at Scottys. i will say that when i got my burrito it seemed small but turned out to be a pretty hardy item. most places tend to fill breakfast burritos with potatoes but here it was filled with eggs and the right amount of potatoes. Overall it was a good meal. just over $100 for four with tip, i think (i didnt pay ). id suggest it if ur n the area.

Came by on a beautiful Thursday for a drink. We ordered a pitcher of beer ($18.95 per menu) thinking that price was for all their draft beer since not clearly marked. The pitcher price noted in the menu is actually for select beer (Bud Light, Coors Light, Corona, and Stella I think) and not "Angels IPA" which we ordered. We were charged $26.95. if there are different prices for pitchers, there should not be only one price for a pitcher if not clearly marked (see pic). Otherwise, a great place to have a drink and our server was friendly and checked on us often. Service: 4.5 Value: 2.5

18.95 for a sandwich that comes with meat which I requested no meat due to being a vegetarian. Same price as the sandwich with meat. That's fine... I'm used to that. I asked for mozzarella instead of provolone and was charged an extra 1.75 for the cheese exchange?! oh and there was a hair in my salad dressing? Any discount for that? Tried this place again after multiple fails and it clearly hasn't improved

Came for some hot chocolate and breakfast. The hot chocolate alone is my 5 stars. I enjoyed my food very much. It's a cold morning so it's a bit quiet but service was good and your at the beach so the ambiance is always good here. Parking was free for the holidays so that was another plus

the little Hispanic girl that served me Sunday night was so rude to me. She had the worst attitude. It honestly made me lose my appetite being treated this way. Plus the last time I was here the owner was so mean to one of the servers I had to give her a $40 tip because nobody should be treated that way. Ambiance was nice because you can see the ocean but i can go somewhere else and have a view with my meal plus good service. I gave this place the benefit of the doubt and i still dont want to come back here. Go to american junky instead. The servers there are so lovely and the food is amazing.

The owner man he is truly a man of the people. The host's were awesome. The pizza is really good, the sauce flavorful. Great beach view and inviting environment
