"Ever since I heard about Scram, a Jersey City bakery with southern roots, it has become a must-stop every time we’re in the area. The owners ran a Charleston food truck before relocating north, and you can see the influence in their unbelievably flaky pimento biscuits and items like maple crullers, coconut cake, and quiche. Scram opened last summer and operates solely out of a takeout window—but word has spread and there is always a line whenever I visit on weekends. The best time to visit is on Fridays and Saturdays, when they serve their breakfast sandwiches starting at 9 a.m., with combinations like ham, gruyere, and pineapple jam on a milk bun. No matter when you go, go early, as the popular items sell out quick."
